To the comment above this: It may not seem like a big leap, but playing Dead Space 3 at 4K DSR with everything maxed out and still getting over 100FPS... It feels like a big leap ;) Roll on the digs :p It's a great card though man, I'm pretty certain you won't be disappointed! What are you gonna do with the 780 when it gets returned? Sell it on to cover some of the 980 cost?
  3. Don't know what options you have set in the Nvidia control panel, but I'd try V-sync ON (not adaptive) Triple buffering ON Maximum pre-rendered frames 3 This could definitely help. I'm running the game on a GTX 980 also, paired with an i7 4770K and I so far haven't had any stuttering or freezing issues, but I do limit the game to 60 FPS with vsync because handling with my G27 goes nuts without it. Worth a shot I'd say, and it's a weird issue, not something I've come across in any CM game yet.

I'd also like to nominate @PeteTheDuck, and @Hughesy too. Both are top members, and to me they both fit the role perfectly :)

So its gone from overpriced to a tad overpriced? :p And I thought the R9 295X2 was the best GPU? You know I'm gonna grill you for a while on this after the slight bashing you gave it before right? ;) And yea, 4GB should be fine dude, I've played a fair few recent games at 4K DSR with AA maxed out and still get an awesome FPS out of them. It really is a beast of a card, plus the one you're getting is OC'd outta the box lol, your stock clock is the same as my boost clock :) Would be cool if you get the free game, I wouldn't fork out anything for Unity either.

I booted up my X1 earlier and had a 10 minute update, them I loaded up Forza and did an hour or two of racing. So easy ;)

Oh but it isn't value for money, and Nvidia held back on it, 4GB ain't enough and it's been held back, not the card for you considering AMD are going to destroy it ;) Lmao! Get it dude, you'll love it. I love mine :) Funny how you've changed your mind on it :p

I have a problem at the minute in that I'm not seeing anyone else's lap time from the in-game (steam friends) leaderboard app.  Left a message on the official forum but no official response.  Feel free to add me to your friends list though. Well, I think probably what we'd do is start a new thread for it here, do your lap and take a screenshot of the time which you could post in the thread :) That way we wouldn't have to rely on the in-game leaderboards.

Nah neither have I, think I last turned my X1 on in October :p Think I might hook it all back up today and see how many updates there are lol. I can see it taking up to 2 weeks possibly. Though tbh I'd probably have done the same. Like if my 980 ever has a problem I'll get hold of Scan first and see what they say to do. I've done similar things with my old GPU's lol, gave my stepdad my 660 when I went to the 770, then gave my bro the 770 in exchange for his R9 270X, which I gave to my stepdad in return for the 660 and his old 7750 lol. So I've got 2 spare atm but one is in my crappy second PC (which I need to update soon!). Hope you don't get a card that doesn't overclock as well, I'm hoping they say that because they don't do the 780 any more they'll upgrade you to a 780Ti. Wishful thinking from me too lol :p Either that or stick a new cooler on there and give you the same card back.

Had a feeling it might :( Get that bad boy sent off and fixed up, and let me know if you fancy some X1 while you wait for it to return. Are you gonna use onboard for general use while it's gone or do you have a spare GPU to stick in?

Disappointed that most of the drivers I like either had issues or got buggered over. Hate one of the drivers on the podium, dislike one, only know the others name. Quite happy for Senna though, may have had more contact than he should again but 5th ain't bad! Another great race for Formula E. Started off a little quiet, but after Chandock took the corner normally and had his suspension ruined by a curb it was crazy till the end. Really looking forward to seeing how FE developes over the next few years :)

Good good. Keep an eye on it and lets hope it doesn't start up again! Definitely a worry that it might have been making that noise from a lack of oil where it leaked...  Just want it to last a bit longer until I buy a new GPU. I thought things would be simple now I don't have water cooling. I still have all the bits for wc and just cool the GPU, but not sure it's a good idea with my spaz hands... Things are never simple with a PC are they bud? :p  Is spaz hands the new jazz hands? ;)

Well it's wrong :p Look at the curb, turn 4 has a big one that every driver has half their car over, that picture has a bollard on a tiny rumble strip. Come on Prawn just come around to the orchestrated truth :p Its obviously Rascasse at Monaco :p No seriously it's turn four If it's turn 4 then where'd the bollard come from? :p

Good stuff dude :) Only trouble now is that might take a day or two longer if they send it on to MSI, and you gotta use onboard graphics yea? :p Maybe time to fire up Destiny soon? I haven't been on it in ages so some strikes might be fun. They still have an Asus one and some KFA2 ones ;) Though the Asus one is the same price as a 980 so you never know!

True, but it also specifically says it's a problem with the Twin Frozr cooler, so I'd imagine that'll cover you too. Overclockers are open 9-5 on a Saturday though so hopefully you will hear back tomorrow, but I can kind of see them saying to get in touch with MSI :p

Ah man that sucks. It may not state it in the warranty, but I've found a statement from MSI about leaking fan oil and I'll paste it below. It mentions bit-coin mining specifically but I'd ignore that, and it also says to RMA if you get leaking oil. So I'd say as long as your still within the warranty, getit sent in and fixed bud. Oh and also, the MSI warranty for a GPU is 3 years from the date the card was manufactured, which is a bit cheeky as most are from the date of purchase. "MSI Statement RE: Fan Oil IssueHi Guys, Thanks to OCUK Staff members for bringing this forum topic to our attention. We are aware that some customers have been experiencing issues with our latest AMD GAMING Graphics Cards, notably the R9 Series. MSI takes this issue seriously. What is the issue? Some cards manufactured pre-January are experiencing oil leakage from the fans. How is this caused? Oil leaks from the fans hub when the fans are spinning at 100% over a long period of time under high heat conditions. Why is this happening? We have seen a huge spike in sales numbers since late November when the BitCoin-Cryptocurrency mining craze started to kick off. Thus, customers have been using our R9 Series of GAMING Graphics Cards since mid-December to mine coins over a 24-HR, 7 days a week period which these cards are not designed for. The details... Basically our cards are designed mainly for one thing.. gaming (the clue's in the name). They are not intended for use under "industrial" load conditions where they would be needed to run flat-out continuously day after day, week after week with potential high heat levels. MSI HQ have been working on the fix since late December to make some changes to our Twin Frozr coolers to stop this from happening. At the centre of the fan there is a 3mm gap inside where a specially made gel is inserted to keep our fans running smoothly and quietly to give you the award-winning silent conditions during idle and gaming modes you have seen and/or heard about. MSI has since reduced this to 2mm. This doesn't sound much but has in fact solved one of the issues whereby there was extra space for air to squeeze inside the area alongside the gel to cause tiny air bubbles that (while at 100% fan load for a long period of time) forces the gel to leak out onto the fan shroud and surrounding area. The final issue that was fixed was simply not to put as much gel inside the fans core. We intentionally put more gel into this area during production to ensure your cards would continue to run smoothly and that durability would never decrease. Sadly our good intentions came back to hurt us since many customers are using R9 Graphics Cards (and R7) to mine for coins jumping quickly onto the Cryptocurrency bandwagon. Our cards we're not designed for this. Under normal gaming conditions this would not happen (rare cases it may). MSI HQ wanted (yet again) to improve our award-winning Twin Frozr coolers further by solving any and all reliability questions of the running of our fans... hence more gel. Unlike our competitors, our bearing is made from a special ring made from a mixture of pressed cooper shavings and oil – This unique design avoids the need of ball bearings so the fan can run quieter. Those customers with Graphics Cards pre-January that are worrying about oil leaking in the future causing harm to the fans.. don't worry. The oil leaking is from the fans hub and not from the bearing, thus will not impact the lifetime running of the fans. Is it safe? Yes. The gel which has since turned into an oil like substance during high heat conditions will not harm you, nor your surrounding components in your PC. This gel is harmless, it is non-conductive and will not harm components on the motherboard – The gel is designed to work up to 140C so it will not burn out. What do I do now? As mentioned, HQ knows about the problems you have been experiencing and recommends you RMA your Graphics Card to our RMA centre for a replacement card with the new fixes. Can you not just send some replacement fans or coolers? No. While there are 0 issues with the PCB's, we cannot send you replacement fans and/or Twin Frozr coolers to do it yourself. One reason is we want to ensure you do not damage the PCB or cooler during installation (and thus voiding your warranty), but another reason is due to how we design the Twin Frozr coolers. You may not know this, but unlike many of our competitors who simply use the same cooler for every batch of cards, we engineer our coolers differently per each graphics card to ensure each cooler we place onto each GPU can handle the thermals produced from that very GPU since every GPU is different (silicone lottery). We are very sorry if you have been affected by this issue. We hold our hands up, however we did have good intentions. Please RMA the Graphics Card back to us for a swift replacement."

    4K / UHD

Depends which platform you're using. On PC, it goes up to 3840 x 2160 (4K) resolution. As for the PS3 and Xbox 360, no, highest on that is 1080p, but I don't think the game itself actually runs at that res. Though I could be wrong, I don't own either console anymore.

You use Afterburner right? Every time I've tried that software it's made my GPU fans do silly things :# Load temps were OK with it, but idle temps were always higher using that than without. I don't get that though with Precision X ;) Yes but it was my fault as I didn't click my fan curve on. If you had problems then it was most likely your fault bud, not pressing the right thing ;) Precision X uses the same code as I said a while ago (they literally stole/copied the code) :p I didn't press anything :p I only downloaded it so I could monitor my clock speeds, and next thing I know the damn thing was messing with my fan speed lol. I left everything at default.  Maybe so, but it still works better for me ;)
