    DNF

Hello fellow racers, So I was wondering, for those of us who play career mode/MyTeam.. Do you take a DNF when you crash or get hit, etc? I personally allow myself one and only one flashback during a race and definitely don't take it when I go wide in a corner or something, if I go wide and lose a position or more because of that, well, that's my own fault. But if I crash out and it was just a loss of concentration or because Jeff suddenly blasts through my ears, I sometimes allow myself a flashback. However, today I was doing the Dutch grand-prix in MyTeam. First time ever driving that circuit on an F1 game, so I practiced alot in time trial (think something like 70+) laps and found out that I'm actually pretty damn fast around Zandvoort. So in MyTeam I qualified p7 (AI difficulty 100) with a car that usually battles the Haas cars in qualifying for p15 or p16. I was ecstatic as this could very well be my second points finish after a p10 in Australia. On top of that, it's my home grand-prix so I even changed my helmet to an orange color and was already dreaming of a season-best result at my home race. On lap 1 I actually manage to get the jump on Leclerc in front of me and end up in p6. Zandvoort being as narrow as it is, I managed to defend against him pretty well untill he overtook me on lap 6. Albon quickly followed. Then the rain hits, 2-3 laps later we all pit for Inters and I manage to jump him and Albon with the pitstop and end up in p5. Race is going well, a few scares here and there in the fast chicanes with a bit of a slide but I'm handling it so far. Then the rain hits even more, and Leclerc behind me loses control and crashes out (checked the replay, I never hit him nor did he hit me). Safety car comes out, I immediately pit for wets but all the other cars don't just yet. Safety car goes in, they pit, I end up in p1 somehow. I'm there like, okay this is my chance to score a lot of points so I'm going to push like crazy. However Hamilton, Bottas, Vettel and Verstappen all had a different idea about that and it didn't take long for me to be in p5 again. Then we pit for Inters again, I lose a bit of time during the pitstop and Perez closes the gap quickly. We're in lap 40 by now and in the fast chicane at turn 6 and 7 he tries to go on the inside, I leave him a lot of space knowing that he's faster anyway and he starts sliding, hits me and I crash out quite spectacularly I must say.. At this point I'm a bit sad because this was my best chance to score good amount of points for my Peugeot F1 team. And I must've checked the replay from all kinds of PoV at least a 100 times to see if it wasn't just my fault or that I closed the door on him, but I didn't. It was really him who lost control of his car. I ended up retiring and taking the DNF, because I like to keep the game realistic. And DNFs are unfortunately also a part of the sport. I'm still really really gutted because I invested so much time in learning Zandvoort and finding out I am actually rather good at it. And I now have to wait a whole season again before I get the chance to redeem myself at Zandvoort. But again, I like to keep it realistic. I must say, it was REALLY tempting for me to use a flashback and cheat my way to some points, but I'm sure I would've regretted that. The only thing that leaves me with a really bad aftertaste is seeing that Perez still managed p8 even after losing his front wing in the crash with me. He didn't get any penalty at all or whatsoever. So how are you guys with taking/handling DNFs? I mean, this is probably the most gutting DNF I've ever had to take in an F1 game, but I guess it adds to the realism.

    DNF

I play on simulation. And I used to use flashbacks to undo terminal damage in previous F1 games, but I stopped doing that. Even though it's actually gutting after putting so much work into a race in practice, quali, etc. in the long run it feels more realistic and more satisfying when you can bounce back from a bad result like that. In F1 2017 I DNF'ed twice from Silverstone 2 seasons in a row. It was the only circuit I had yet to achieve a win at, absolutely gutting but damn it felt so satisfying when I finally won it.

    [MY TEAM] POST YOUR CAR

I honestly wished I was any good with Photoshop and editting stuff.. I use the cosmos livery, because I love the combination of black and purple. But it's such a damn shame that you can only have your badge on the car once. I have a badge mod and I'm using the Peugeot logo because I made MyTeam the Peugeot F1 team. But I wished I could add the Peugeot lion somewhere else than just the nose. Like on top of the halo, or the sidepods. I don't even care that much about realistic sponsors, I just want the cosmos livery like I have now but with an extra Peugeot lion on the halo and a nice "PEUGEOT" on both sidepods in Peugeot font 😓

    Questions

Hi everyone This is the last thread I'll create for a while, I promise. So I bought F1 2020 last night and I've been playing for a few hours last night and tonight again. Created MyTeam and I am loving it so far (Peugeot F1 Team 😍). But I have some questions about gameplay and gameplay related stuff. I've played F1 2017 ever since it came out up untill now and it's such a huge difference that I feel like a complete noob at the game again. Although my raw speed is still there, so I guess I've got that going for me. My main questions being about ERS. I've fiddled around with it here and there but I'm not sure whether I completely understand it yet, and I'm hoping for some people to answer my questions about it and perhaps give me some more insight and tips/tricks for it. I ran the practice program for it and managed it purple straight away but I'm guessing anyone can do that. But what is a good, efficient way to use ERS in a race-setting? I tried it a bit in Grand Prix mode and even in 5-lap races, I tend to just drain it completely after 3 laps and then I'm very slow compared to the AI. So far, I've been using it kind of like the KERS system in older F1 games.. Get to a slow-ish corner, get some traction and then slam that button for about 1-2 sec and then turn it off again. But I'm not sure whether this is the right way to approach it? Secondly, in grand-prix mode, I've noticed that on the first lap when I use it, once I get through the last corner of the lap, the final rundown to the start finish line the ERS bar goes red with a big red X on it. I thought I just drained it too much, but then I tried another grand-prix race and didn't use it at all, and it still happened. Why does it get turned off for that little bit? I noticed that in the practice sessions of career/myTeam mode that I have the setting of "Off", "Low", "Medium", "Overtake" (if I remember correctly). I know that in the race it's pretty much Off or Overtake, right? Because it's a big reason why I skipped F1 2019, the constant switching between 5 modes of ERS while playing on a controller was way too annoying to me. So why is it in practice programs? And what's the best way to approach this? Just leave it on off and use overtake for boosts like I would in the race? In terms of qualifying, what's the best way to maximize my ERS to get the best possible laptime I can? Is it possible to leave it on for the entire lap, I'm guessing not? About the race, I get that I have to both use and conserve it. And I get that if I'm noticably faster than the guy ahead it could be a wise move to harvest a little bit more, close in on him and then when I get the chance for an overtake deploy a ton of ERS to get past him. But if I harvest alot by leaving it off for let's say an entire lap, am I not going to just fall behind and perhaps get overtaken by the guy behind? Is the difference really that big? Because I noticed in the practice program I was a full second slower if I didn't use ERS at all for an entire lap. And lastly, in terms of MyTeam.. Does anyone have some handy tips and tricks for the activity aspect? I will keep it realistic and not just pump out upgrades every other race to become the top team within a season or two. I'll limit myself to 2-3 upgrades a season, and maybe then a bigger one for a good push into the next season. But I saw this whole facility thing, etc. Is it like really hard to not go bankrupt? So far, my Peugeot F1 car ranks a little bit above Williams and Haas. So that's a good start I guess. And with my custom setup for Australia I've noticed I'm competitive. Really competitive. Even on my 99 AI difficulty. But my car still feels a little big sluggish on the turn-in to a corner. And I'm pretty sure that's not setup related because in grand-prix mode the Mercedes or Ferrari drive like a dream with this setup. So which R&D department am I looking to invest in to make the car faster in corners and easier turning into corners? Thank you for putting up with this wall of text and thank you in advance to anyone who's willing to take the time to answer and help. 😃

    Questions

So after a while of playing this game (loving it, tbh) and 2 grand-prix done, two more questions I started wondering about.. Are there R&D upgrades that'll eventually improve my car's fuel efficiency and tyre efficiency? As in, I understand both are down to driving style as well.. but in F1 2017 when I was with Ferrari in career mode, it was a generally easier car on fuel efficiency. I'd drive in Standard mix and was still saving fuel when I underfueled the car before race start. I made the mistake of underfueling my car in MyTeam for Australia and had to drive in Lean mix for quite a lot of laps to make sure I wouldn't run out. And with the tyres, same story, I know it's down to driving style as well but for example right now I am doing the practice sessions in Vietnam, and on the tyre management program I only manage to get into the green if I seriously sacrifice laptime. Whereas after some testing in a quick career mode test with Mercedes and skipping ahead to Vietnam, I didn't have to sacrifice pace at all to keep the tyre deg in the green. So yea, are there upgrades that'll eventually make these two things better and easier to manage on my car?

    Questions

Thank you ever so much for your answers, help and patience, Marioho. 😃 And I'm going to (safely) assume that in MyTeam it's a good idea to get as many sponsors as quickly as I can? I have the option now to get a 2nd one, I feel like I should take that opportunity right away or am I falling into a trap lol

    Questions

Great, thanks! There's only one more thing I am seriously confused by.. I set the AI difficulty to 98 because that's what I played on in F1 2017. In Grand-Prix mode it seems to be the right difficulty because when I do a qualifying I am just about or above/under the time of my teammate. In the race I'm competitive with my teammate. So naturally in MyTeam, I put the difficulty up to 98 as well. First race in Australia, I qualify P15 and finish P10. My teammate, Mick Schumacher, qualifies P20 and finishes P18. I was well over a second faster than him in qualifying. Maybe he just had bad luck I thought, so for Bahrain I bumped the difficulty up to 99, because I want to keep it realistic and not beat the AlphaTauri's again even though realistically I shouldn't. Once again, I'm well over 0,500 to 0,700 faster than my teammate. Is Mick Schumacher just this slow or is there something seriously wrong that I'm outperforming my teammate by this much?
  8. Malarky94

    Questions

As for getting the car to be more responsive in corners, especially high speed corners that change direction rather quickly, what R&D Part am I looking to invest in then? For example on Bahrain, I have a really good setup that makes the Mercedes and Ferrari extremely quick in grand-prix mode and very very responsive in the corners and on the brakes. But in MyTeam (only 2nd race so far, no upgrades) my car feels really stiff with the same setup. To fix this, am I looking to pump points into chassis or downforce area?
  9. Malarky94

    Questions

Thank you Marioho. That explains a lot. I'm still getting used to it all and the perfectionist in me wants to be competitive and good at it from the very first second. It's just that I was using it a little bit like KERS out of the slow corners in grand-prix mode. Then at like lap 4/5 or 5/5 I noticed I had only got like 10% ERS left, and I was being overtaken left right and center. So I think I have a lot of work to do on my harvesting and distributing it more evenly.

    Podium Pass Season 2

I was very unfamiliar with this whole podium pass aspect of the game (still am). And I only bought the game yesterday. Thought it's a great way of gradually earning cool stuff by simply playing the game. When I installed the game I saw I had 15.000 coins. So I bought a VIP thing because I thought it would be nice. Does that go away now too? Did I screw myself by not waiting? 😂

    MyTeam

So I just bought F1 2020 and I can't wait to get started on myteam. After doing a bunch of laps in time trial to get used to the handling model, I decided it's time to start my own team. But here's where I am confused.. On Tiametmarduk's first F1 2020 career mode video when he is going to choose a teammate, he can pick people like Nyck de Vries, Mick Schumacher, Guanyu Zhou, etc.. But when I create my team, there's no Mick Schumacher (I REALLY wanted him as my teammate 😞). I only get to pick from the likes of Mazepin, Correa, Geleal, Aitken.. Why don't I get the option to pick Mick Schumacher? 😞

    Logo Mod

Hello, I was wondering if someone could tell me how to install this logo mod I found for F1 2020 as I'm looking to create a Peugeot F1 team in MyTeam. (If a thread about mods or anything related isn't allowed, I apologize and please delete this). But basically, I found this mod https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/f1-2020-myteam-logo-megapack.34341/ and it says just copy and paste but I'm not sure what to copy and paste or where to. Also I keep reading about this ERP archiver stuff and I'm not sure if I need it to get this mod to work. Anyone out there who plays on PC who has experience with this mod or generally knows how to install this stuff? Thank you in advance.

    Is My Team too easy?

I think it's down to how you play it to be honest. In F1 2017 it was also really easy to very quickly become the best team and become so dominant that real-life Mercedes would be jealous. But I never allowed myself to make more than 2-3 upgrades a season. Sure, the guy comes over to you a lot saying that we do need to spend the resource points if we don't want to fall behind, but that's something I just ignored. I tried to keep it as realistic as possible, because you wouldn't see Williams leaping from last to first in a matter of a season in real life either. So 2-3 upgrades at most, then maybe a big one at the end of the season to kickstart you into the next season.

    Driver Transfers

Hi everyone, I made my mind up and I am buying F1 2020 this weekend and finally making the move from F1 2017 to the new game. In terms of the driver transfers in career mode, can they be turned off? If so, do I have to make that decission when I start a new career and that's it? Or can I play a season with them on and then for example turn them off for 2 seasons before I turn it back on again? Any other way to manipulate those transfers? Because I agree to a certain extend that it keeps the game refreshing and exciting, but just like in FIFA, a very unrealistic stupid transfer kinda ruins the immersion. Thanks in advance
  15. Malarky94

    Driver Transfers

By the way.. If I have driver transfers on and a driver retires, let's say Seb Vettel doesn't get a new contract in-game and retires, does that mean he'll never come back? As in, he's out of the rotation? Or does it happen that maybe 2-3 seasons later suddenly the random generated transfers bring him back into a team?

    Driver Transfers

So just a little visual bug then, not a big deal

    Setups

Hello fellow racers, I've always loved F1 games and consider myself pretty good at them as well. But there's one thing I never got the hang of, which is doing setups myself. I've watched countless tutorial videos and played around in time trial for hours but never managed to do it. Because of that, I am still playing F1 2017. Main reason is not just because I get to play without the halo and the game is actually a really good game, but because I have a setup for every track in that game. Back in the day when TRL Limitless still used to play with the controller and made setup videos, I straight up copied those setups and they always worked brilliantly for me. But after seeing and reading so much about F1 2020, I am really really tempted to buy it. It seems like a great game and it'd be awesome to play with updated teams/drivers again. Plus the creation of your own team in career mode seems awesome (Peugeot F1 team here I come!). But my main issue with it and not buying the game is that I won't have setups. I know that the standard setups aren't really that bad, but I've tried them on F1 2018 and F1 2019 on my friend's games and they feel very weird to my driving style. I know this may sound very weird, but the fear of not having good setups and not being as fast as I can be is seriously putting me off of buying the latest F1 game. Even worse, has caused me to not buy the last 3 F1 games. So I'm looking for advice.. Because I tried buying F1 2019 before and basically got it refunded after an hour of gameplay because it kept playing on my mind so badly that I wouldn't have the good setups I used to have in F1 2017. And quite obviously, copying those over to a different game doesn't work. So how can I get decent setups in a new F1 game up to a point where I have a solid setup saved for each track again without TRL Limitless making those videos anymore? I tried googling setups and setup guides. But even for someone like me, who is absolutely clueless in making his own setups I could even see some that I found were absolutely bonkers and would never ever work. On top of that, most content creators who make videos about it, play the game with a wheel and not a controller like me. And well.. using a wheel setup for a controller isn't really a great idea. Either way, I'd appreciate some advice on setups, whether to buy F1 2020 or to stick to 2017, etc etc. And no need to call me silly or weird.. I am very well aware of that :P Thank you in advance.

    What camera do you use?

I love how you can see the nose of the car with this angle. Care to share the specifications of the settings so I can copy it? 😄

    Setups

What could actually help me are some very basic and simply examples. So let's say I use this setup: aero 4 9 transmission 50% 70% suspension geometry -3.00 -1.50 0.05 0.20 suspension 1 2 3 9 2 4 brakes 100% 56% tires 21.4 21.4 19.5 19.5 A) I'm driving on for example Bahrain. I'm noticing from this setup that corners are fine and rotation of the car is fine too but the straight line speed is lacking compared to other cars. How do I increase the straightline speed without compromising the cornering too much? B) I'm driving this setup on Monaco, I'm noticing way too slow cornering speed, how do I improve the cornering by changing...? C) I'm somewhat aware that aero has to be changed for straight line speed but how do I balance it? This is where I get lost. I'm super intrigued by F1 and have been watching it since I was 4. But this technical side is like math to me. Spoiler alert: I was terrible at math in school.

I watched that video as well and I am still struggling to fully wrap my head around it. You mention that you change the aero and ride height depending on either track and/or weather. How do you even go about with this? Like, I watched the video.. But how do I even start to figure out what to change those things to depending on the track? Simply by moving it 1 or 2 points each time and go out on track and keep trying and adjusting? That seems like a huge timesink. Not that I have the biggest issue with timesink, I mean, I used to always drive with the racingline on and made myself turn in off when I got into F1 2017 and it took many hours for me to learn all the tracks. But that was at least something I would understand and comprehend. These setups, not really... Like for example I would use that Limitless setup for say... Bahrain. What do I even change the aero and ride height to? And like Monaco.. I know I need more downforce there... see.. I'm already hella confused again 😞

    [MY TEAM] POST YOUR CAR

One can buy out another driver's contract? So you're telling me.... if I buy this game, I can create Peugeot F1 team and eventually have Vettel as my teammate? 😮
