Can't give you a straight answer but I'm pretty sure the percentage system is gone. You will probably have to change parts or try to "quickfix" them with the risk of later failure. This is speculation upon whats been said and seen. I guess @Hatward can answer you if he feel like it ;) It's quick fix, repair or replace. Not all parts can be replaced. The level of repair will determine the likelihood of that part failing later on. The time taken will depend on your crew. Part durability translates into our used car market, so you can choose to buy a **** box that needs all its parts replacing or a totally rebuilt car ready to race (if you can find one). Now THIS is pure gold ladies and gentlemen! Sounds epic! I feel kinda bad for asking too many questions as you have better things to do, but have anything been done to gear changes? Some were way too slow in DR. H-shift with clutch was by far the fastest in many cars. I'd love to be able to shift as fast without clutch on cars with dogboxes. I quite like this slowness, so there is a reason to play with the shifter. Still slow with a shifter... slower than my 220k mile subaru.

I build these engines for a living, red line is 7500 stock, and depending on turbo, als setup, etc... they will make power out past 10,500rpm. Hell, my turbo doesn't even spool till 4300.

Yep, we wanted to focus on getting Your Stage working. Changing the whole engine and doing that would have been a huge risk and could well have resulted in catastrophic delays. Lifting that limit is one of my primary goals for the future. Understandable.... I have hopes I'll love it, the idea sounds awesome. Thanks again.

@KickUp not to be a broken record, but is this the same engine as DR? Is that the length limitation? Edit: thanks for still being involved in the community on "off time"

Same... people that have hundreds to thousands of hours into the game will notice, I'm sure people that play less won't. I don't really care, some rallies are on familiar stages, some are new every time, if we only focus on the top tiers of rally, people get a false sense of the true nature of rally. Not everyone who rallies has a 500k car... most don't actually, and there are bigger competitor numbers in the smaller and historic rallies.

Yeah. I would personally rather see the Evo VI left in the Group A class in D4. Great that CM have got one of the missing icons of the Group A period in the game though! I would rather have the Evo IV pitted against the 95 Impreza and the rest of the group A's. And the GC8 Impreza against the Evo VI ;) I love that D4 will support multi class rallies. Another thing we wished for during EA :) For me the perfect combination would be an Evo III in the Group A class and then an "early WRC" class with the Evo 6.5 and the S5 Impreza WRCar... ...realistically I wouldn't expect CM to commit resources to developing another Evo (and Impreza) just a couple of years away from those already in game. I'm just glad that an early Evo is in there now, fingers crossed that the reception for the game will be so positive the ranks of cars may swell further down the line! It would be a very nice nod to the original CMR to have the early Impreza WRC though. And many many people love that car. Such an iconic machine that captured so many people :) I certainly won't disagree with you there! I would actually argue that the S4/S5 Impreza WRCar is the most iconic rally car of the modern era. It also directly influenced the 22B, which is still regarded by many as the best looking production car to sport the Impreza badge. As much as I love the car though, I recognize that there are probably other priorities for the team. One of the most interesting snippets of info we told at CM last year* were the approximate times required to develop new cars. I knew it was an involved process, but I was staggered how many man hours go into each individual car. * Well I thought it was interesting! If we take in consideration that a good modeller takes about 3 to 5 onths t complete a goodcar to RBR that is much more simpler... yeah.. we can only imagine. But even so, just 50 models to D4 is... kind of little. If I remembered correctly there's 44 different models in DR, so, even if we loose 4 PPIHC cars, we will have landrush to take in account and at least 4 new models. I'll try to elaborate on that making a car list later if I have the time. It's not just the modelling, it's the handling, the audio and so on for each car that takes time. All the more reason they should've pushed to keep the existing stages and cars... especially since it seems like it's built on the same engine, just remodeled physics.

Shame about Pikes Peak, *whoever* has it now definitely isn't going to do as good of a job as CM did.... Wondering the possibilities of patching the existing maps into the game at a later date after licensing was sorted. But at this pace, we'd have a new game by then, lol. All this licensing crap is getting old... wouldn't the WRC and FIA want to hold more than one sponsorship? Especially with a better game? Sure it's up to the developers too, but if they want that sponsor money, they need to follow their call. That said, still smells like larger organizations tampering, as usual.

Goddamn italian pseudio-studio and WRC promoter gmbu0lsh1t. GHRRR The competition for them was just too hard so they've got the lawyers to take care of ****. That's how $$$ spins. This.... how are they able to restrict public roadways? Call them something different, who cares the name.

I don't do game coding, but as I understand there's a few (or two?) Versions of the EGO engine. If it was a newer variant I can understand its incompatibility, but that leads me to the next part of that question, which is stage length.

The only entitled ones are you people.... I've only asked questions and given opinions on stated facts. Like it or not. Also, you guys attacked me first just because I refuse to blindly accept whatever they throw out there. Would you like to ask me the questions? (Sorry I've been busy today) I understand you've been busy... I believe I've posted my main concerns and opinions that haven't been answered at this point. I'm 50/50 on this... as said, I love what's been done, and about half of what's been announced with D4. I'm just concerned that a larger company is steering development just like a recent title I followed only to have said company ruin the title by rushing a product to market. Hand on heart I have done everything I can to deliver an experience that is beyond anything we have done before. I have to ask you to trust me on this. Your stage has been a prototype since 2011 and DiRT Rally has shown that we need to make that dream a reality. I will say that we butted heads during EA on the sound stuff, and you asked for trust then and didn't disappoint. Understand that my apprehension and animosity here isn't toward you, the developers, but toward the larger companies that like to meddle in these sorts of "emerging markets". I was concerned about the arcade stuff, you've split it. I was concerned about pace note integration with the generated stages, the tile format solves that for me. I guess the only question I have is the game engine still the older ego engine or a newer version/new engine? I ask because of the maximum stage length, while they are fairly long as is, and I'm happy with them, lots would have liked safari rally/Dakar length stages. Which I understand was a limitation of the engine.
-
More complex than that but yes, it has lead us down this new path but that means we have built something more exciting that we might not have considered before. This is interesting and I'd like to hear more if possible when things aren't so busy... it sounds like it may pay off in the end with the stage generator.

Yes, the new game looks great, and the Physics are probably great too.... but seriously, trucks and buggies? I'm sure they are fun, but could've made more locations instead, and I understand that's my opinion. Also, if the tracks are only 1km longer, then we are on the same older engine? That means a rebuild, but not something they couldn't add to DR with a version update. I absolutely do not speak for myself when I say we were all expecting a new engine to handle longer stages. I like the service park upgrades I've seen and heard, and I rather like the idea of never driving the same stage twice. With the tile style setup it should work great, but we're they not able to keep the real locations? Last I checked, you can't copywrite a road.

That is a bummer. I'm sure the generated stages can be awesome, but I doubt they will have the same soul and attention to detail the current stages has. And I still don't get why no older spec WRC machinery could be licensed. Anyways, exciting times! Hopefully we will have more info soon. Exciting if you're getting a check from CM... And I'm sure this "game" will be great... for those who it was built for, not the people who bought the previous title. Glad I got it cheap during EA.... Christ what are you on about? None of us were paid for our visit to codemasters, we went because we were fans of the game, and passionate about rally! Dirt 4 has a lot of the soul of Dirt Rally, it's just been scaled up for a bigger market. If you liked dirt rally, you will like dirt 4. If not, go moan somewhere else Nobody was referring to you... **** off and go praise your CM overlords some more.... let the adults ask valid questions. You don't want to start abusing people on here. Not with me around. I will abuse you until you cry for your mother. I doubt that.... But am I supposed to just lay down and take this crap from people who couldn't see CM do wrong? Lol, no... I'm asking valid questions and getting attacked, and I'm not the only one, check the net, we ALL feel this way. So sit here in your echo chambers if you'd like, but if you attack me for asking valid questions and valid points just because you don't want to hear it, I'm gonna bite back. Troll away, because I have like 50 socks.... No one here is mad at you for not liking something, you are insulting people and blindly shitting on something you havent seen Anyone here can say what they'd like, but I know at the end of the day, I'm right, there's thousands of us out there, and they could've made some of that money. But they chose to go with the arcade players, clearly. Feel free to use that search button buddy.... or you could be like the rest of today's generation, lazy.

Sim racers are getting attacked by children all morning for asking these tough questions. This really doesn't feel like a money grab to you guys? If it's the same engine as it seems (because you think that'd be one of the first things said) then they could've just updated DR. Instead, they chose to add features that were removed from previous titles back in, features that were what kept a majority of us away prior. DR was the only thing that got me back into sim racing because of all the casuals everywhere else playing bumper cars. And while I like iracing, I shouldn't have to pay a subscription service just to not have some jerk doing donuts during a points race. Anyone here can say what they'd like, but I know at the end of the day, I'm right, there's thousands of us out there, and they could've made some of that money. At least a 1 km more :) always something :D Which means it's the same engine..... where did all that money go then? No real mapped tracks, a bunch of vehicles nobody cares about, and the same limited old engine. Sounds like a money grab if I've ever heard one.
-
Well, that's beat and completely ruins it for a ton of us....
-
Sounds close enough to how it would have to work, thanks.... still hoping for custom pace notes.
-
I will say this, so it doesn't seem like I'm just hating... The sim/arcade switch seems good, and I trust the posters here that have been there and say it's good. I am a bit worried about integration between the two on leaderboard. I love the procedurally generated track idea..... if it works. It would absolutely NEED a pace note creator. This also feels like it's setup for DLC, which I'm okay with, so long as it means more REAL laser mapped stages in the future. While some stages are fresh every year, or have different configuration, most drivers DO memorize sections and corners of stages. Sometimes even entire stages! Having a variety is really awesome, but to sacrifice realism from actual stages for completely random ones I feel may be a mistake.
-
It's called asking valid questions.... and I'm not gonna give in to the CM ball hangers that will slurp on anything they drip out. Plenty of people want a hardcore rally sim, we've had it to death with ANY sort of arcade crap ruining WHAT WE WANT in a title. YOU have gotten what you want repeatedly.... our turn. Or not it seems.
-
No. They obviously cut filming coz they knew what they were going to show sucked. *sarcasm* Yeah, because they'd hold back a super piece of awesome like an actual working procedurally generated rally stage with working pacenotes.
-
They've made literally ZERO mention of pace notes, one of the most important features of rally, which was, and still is, broken for the most part, amd without an open editor. You'd think that would me a major selling point.
