DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Don't see the point of putting rally drivers' names ahead of game titles, myself. Didn't you know that a drivers names in front of the game title always guarantees a quality product? Like Sebastien Loeb Rally. It could be named from the OTHER Sebastian, but after each stage they would have to have a lot of whining, to make it correct :pensive:

Just for conversation I thought I would throw this out, Since Kris Meeke destroyed Finland this weekend, and Is having his best season.  Would it be right for Codies to consider "Kris Meeke: DiRT Rally 2" for thir next Rally Game?  Sure there are other Legends of rally out there, but id think McRae would approve approve of him.

So what does everyone think about my idea?  I think it would make for an interesting career addition.

I never messed around with the online stuff in D3, so my opinion may be swayed if I did.   Part, just like others have said, is that it was forced in career mode so I never completed the career. However even if they wouldn't make it an official instructor by your side rally school, it would be great if it where done like Richard Burns with challenges at a school.  Tgat way it's not just an open environment area, but you have motivation to go there. Maybe this could give you licenses or somehow allow you acceptance into different car classes, not to go far from realism.  Is there some licensing that you need over there to qualify for rally?   Anyhow this COULD be the best of both, a free roam area to play and a goal driven instructional area to earn stuff.  It would make it a bit more serious though.  Not sure if a SIM would have a virus play mode, even though it sounds loads of fun.

I wouldn't go that far, but it definitely provided some enjoyment for a short period of times. Which would be a great thing if instead of the boring loading screen, we had an option (keyword, OPTION) to do the Gymkhana thing on some abandoned factory or what not. Kind of like the practice games that FIFA has for their pre-match loading screens. A big wish list item was rally school.  Personally would love to see Dirtfish represented since they have such a unique and interesting looking playground there.  Could be a cool hybrid tarmac gravel area to just skid around for practice and car control.

odd number to celebrate a release https://twitter.com/dirtgame/status/757878141851361280 this is like @justbiglee used to do, I wonder if there is a hidden motive to the post?   I sure as **** hope it's nothing to do with gymkhana returning

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

The storm might be closer than you think. Anyway, today after nearly 2 months, I make my return to DiRT Now this is a proper bit of gossip. Fingers crossed for some big news soon!  placing bets on a Nov/Dec announcement for sometime later next year (trying to be realistic with release)  You think the announcement is definitely going to be for a new title rather than something additional for DiRT Rally?  I just don't see at this point it that it would add that much longevity to DR.  Us PC guys had it for a year, and have pretty much played the heck out of the locations we have.  Can they give us 5 more to hold us over till next title is out?   EDIT: one more point, if they add more locations now, what would there be for the next title. There are only so many people assigned to a given game and DLC now would only take away from a new titles content (production time).   We all have debated over this many times, but resources are resources. Also talked about before, is tech.  If new tech is introduced, then everything has to be updated (ie the elusive Terrain deformation).  If there is no new tech, I think it would be like they are not progressing. So I think there are a lot of factors that a whole new title will be next, and maybe announced by Dec 2016.  It's all trying to get in @KickUp and Management's head to guess what is next. I do not see a bombshell like we had an announcement/ea of DR, that was historic. These are just opinions, and trying to use some common sense. EDIT. typed on my phone before, had to clean up some autocorrect and typos

I don't know how interesting the stages are, but China would be a nice place to revisit. I would add a single Rally America event, but I get stoned (with rocks) mentioning it.

@tbtstt Autosport was fun, it had some career mode to it, that I liked.  I was just drooling for a DiRT Game at the time, I should go back and play it now. However that wasnt really my point, not even about the EVO team, but GRID and Dirt share some of the same people, if there are resources taken from DiRT then that would delay the next one. EVO will have there own thing going and I'm looking forward to it.   hope now you know what I ment.  :)

Same old, Kevin...  Other than a calm before the storm tweet, but but I think the storm is a long way off.  But don't call me a weatherman my predictions aren't that great. Unless the storm was actually the VR update? I assumed the storm was the VR update? I was actually a little underwhelmed as, although it's cool, the VR update doesn't excite me that much! Fingers crossed the storm is actually something else more exciting!  VR update was great for those with it, but that was more of a light rain for the rest of us.  Since F1 is out in Aug 19 and they don't want to take away the buzz from that launch.  Realistically I don't see them making any sort of announcement before November.  If there is even an official announcement at all, maybe a screenshot or something really basic.   This also could get stalled by a EVO announcement.  I just hope there isn't a GRID bomb dropped, that will just suck resources from DiRT team.  I haven't been impressed by that series in a long while.   Here is hoping for a late 2017 release!

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

WRC6 will be a nice diversion from DR now, just to see some new stages.   Gossip related:  Something that I am going to harp on for a while, although gossip is great fun.  I would like to see Codies be a little more open, similar to F1.   Although F1 is a predictable yearly title, the next DiRT title could be announced quite far off from release, with some teaser "work in progress" screens now and then.   I think they are now beyond the secretive experimental stage of uncertainty like DR was, and could do this this time around.  At least tell us of some features to look forward to.  Maybe a bi-monthly blog as progress updates, leaving out and licensing info would be acceptable and leave room for much gossip.   Even a early announcement, confirming the next game and some obvious things like new locations, cars, disciplines would leave to much speculation, but give us somewhere to start.  JBL tortured us for about 18 months, it was fun, but with so little concrete facts it won't be as fun this time around.   Maybe this isn't @KickUp's style but I am just inpatient the older I get, I guess.   Also my therapist is getting quite tired of me talking about DR during our sessions, they say I am not progressing, and my invisible friend (@justbiglee) is something I need to let go of.  Besides the $$ that I am spending could be used for VR and a GTX1080. :(

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

No, almost bought a phantom a couple years ago.  But I read an article about 'fly offs' where you lose communication with ANY radio controlled vehicle and it just keeps following the same command.  Like if the last input it had was north, then it keeps flying till it runs out of battery or it hits something (or someone!)  So losing a $500 drone + $300 gopro like that scared me off.  Besides most of the places that I would like to use it I would need permission, which is a pain, or it just isn't allowed.   For me its just not practical and the novelty would wear out quickly flying it around boring places.

just to add SOMETHING to this dying thread   Its rare that I step into bookstore anymore, but I needed to get away from a long and ongoing house project for a bit.  So Drones have caught my interest and there is a mag some in the UK may be formiliar with, creatively called "Drones Magazine". Then a name from the past caught my eye, Alex Harvey, former Codies employee. Here is excerpt and now for some gossip, but from the past Anyhow this is a brief inside look of what goes behind the scenes, and the developmet of DiRT Rally Sorry on my phone, and having a hard time finding a direct link to the article.

that's true, over here I don't have many real life references other than Subaru and Audi, but I here there are a few imported Lancias with race pedigree.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I live in the country where people copy everything from America... Poland. I know Yaris is a norm, which is the issue. Polo R isn't a norm, Fiesta RS/ST isn't a norm, i20 isn't a norm, DS3 isn't a norm as well. Those are slightly/a lot more... interesting versions of cars for teachers effectively, while Yaris is a car made for teachers (or rather for people that earn that kind of money). I would really like for the WRC cars to be more of the "cool club of hot hatches", rather than the smallest and cheapest you can get for money. Even if it's just a name. Thats interesting, and funny!  I do agree about the cars, I wish they would grow a little, like you said about the TARDIS, what next a smart car?  Maybe the lowest of low cars.   The old cars where fast, group b cars where pretty big in some ways, up till what 2009 when Subaru left?  I don't know, probably talking out my butt.
