Has anyone confirmed that there will NOT be any DLC?
-
oh boy, here we go again... E2
-
According to the RoadBook yesterday, we are getting a patch before April, wonder if something EXTRA will be in it.
-
Ahem... don't forget I'm from the States, born and raised.. (with a long German heritage, though)
-
He has probably pushed to get Ford to sponsor him in WRX. I think the one reason is because the GRC is nothing more than a destruction derby, I watch it only for the reason that it's the only rally(?) related tv offering in the states, it just something to do. WRX has its fender rubbing but from what I have seen it doesn't have the redneck nascar mentality of jumping out of the car to get in another drivers face because they pushed them into tires etc. Neither makes for good racing. It turns into reality tv very quick.

I really like Ken Block, he has done a lot of work to 'get the word out' about rally here in the states. However, I don't expect him to do all that great in WRX. Why? Because every championship he has attempted to win, he has come up short. Rally America, came down to the last round, crashed and lost. GRC, lead the points up to second from last race, crashed and lost it. He's smart enough to know his competition and skills to attempt a full WRC season. He has talent, but lacks the patience it seems to follow through. He tries to follow the McRae "flat out" attitude, but that age has passed with the technical precision that is applied today in racing. So like I said, I'm a fan, but not expecting a season win in WRX.

That does look good in DiRT Rally lala dee da.. Not short now
-
What location is this @1:26: https://youtu.be/2CFG4g307hQ?t=1m26s It looks like my home rally here in USA
-
This was from a while back, but Its nice that DiRT Rally got recognized by these fine people.
-
You said Gymkahna and 22B (wrong name) in the same post, A puppy just died for that post. :dizzy:
-
It's real pleasant to be thinking McRae in some form or another will be part or DR, a bit like moms cooking, comforting and great memories. ;.)
-
We don't know how many new cars will be coming in the next/last big patch :). Or if there will be DLC after that to fill in other categories. There are a lot of possibilities for cars (cough Renault).
-
The New Impreza R4 is coming, more than likely with Higgins 555 livery. The car isn't the 'cool thing' approved' but almost certain the Higgins 555 and McRae's LEGENDARY liveries are. I still believe that the McRae family has given some approval for use of Colin in DR. They have already given some nod for the one Ford livery with the McRae name on it.
-
Still like to see the Subaru Legacy, that made a lot of history, not exactly winning history but..
-
Ok figured out "the cool thing" that has been missing for 5 years, if I'm right, it's so obvious that it's hitting us square between the eyes. The McRae name will be associated with DiRT (Rally) again. The box art was a diversion or placeholder for 'something special' to replace it.

Again the debate on terrain deformation is about a future title not current DR. Nothing new till April? Well guess that axes me checking here daily. April is Springtime here (I hope) my Gane playing severely tapers off then. I'll be at real rally's then ;)
-
This is exactly what I was trying to say, thanks

@BrySkye @dgeesi0 see my expanded post :)

I really need to jump in here, my original post was about a future game all together, I'm not sure I was clear about that. No chance anything major could be added before April. Sorry to lead this into gossip about current game. now about terrain deformation, I am talking about pre-simulating the change in terrain, not real time. It would be great for real time sure, but it doesn't have to be real time for the effect to work on gameplay. I'm not sure how to explain it clearly, but based on your position on the stage the game would simulate (mathematically) the other cars run and lines, even an off. This would change the look of the road from a previous run. If you are first on the road, then it will be clean, but you may not fine the best line or grip or what ever advantage/disadvantage that allows. If a car gas an off and digs into the terrain, then that would be somewhat visible and possibly the car will be there as well. Point being each run would be different and challenging, it would take more reading and less memory of the road. So having a limited number of locations and stages you could expand the experience in a different way. Again this all started with me asking a question about how could the Franchise expand stage rally without traveling around the world only to create a location with a similar color palette :)
-
This is what I would love to see in this game, would make it feel more like a rally. At the moment it is always like running first on the road. Would be awesome if they could do it and also implement it into the daily stages. It would be awesome but experience with other sims suggests that anything dynamic that impacts multiplayer fairness can get a rough ride, even if more like the real world motorsports being simulated. A simulation of the real world to simulate real world fairness? :open_mouth: :)

They are similar indeed but realise that New Zealand is just as similar to Wales. I've watched through the entire video you linked and if it weren't for the title, I would've easily assumed it was Wales when it isn't raining for a longer while. If you want to see something different, compare Wales with Australia. COMPLETELY different. I think you assume that everyone say it's only the issue of NZ and Wales being similar. Hell no, Argentina, Mexico and Greece are basically all the same, with the only difference being how dense the forest is. San Remo, Corsica, Monte Carlo, same, basically the same, though MC has snow, so there's that. We could go on and on like this for a long time. Point is, NZ is similar to Wales. Face it. Also, some people say that Poland looks similar to Finland... ehh, nope. Take the Germany stages we have in the game, add some lakes here and there and swap the tarmac for a dusty gravel and tarmac mixture. Done, you have the 2015 Polish rally. Germany and Poland have a rather similar flora. Though Poland is most likely not as "flat" as Germany is, in terms of land layout. That could leave a few options, 1) Pick a location with veried and diverse terrain and look - San Remo, Germany panzerplat and vineyards country, Monte Carlo bottom to the top with changing weather, even USA is unique and a lot of diversity in some events. 2) Terrain deformation w/SIMULATED staggered starts - no cars on stage, but it simulates the severity based on weather and start position and deforms accordingly. Either of these could add to the challenge of seeing the same area over and over again. There is is some backend work involved in TD but there is a lot of reuse in the tech, much like the physics engine. For other DiRT spin offs as (Trucks, RX, anything off-road). It's easy to write off and say it's not worth the time, but that could be said of most any part of the game, depending on perspective.
-
@RyuMakkuro Ok again good points. With all these considered, how could the developers improve the stages/locations? I mean with the environment/palette limitations what would be a solution to adding more rally, other than adding RX or Trucks, etc (strictly keeping to stage rally)?
-
Good points, however are rally fans (and hardcore fans like us) reduced to purchase decisions due to pretty colors on a box, (the back not the front of the box)? Is this console-like thinking, it seems that the trend is moving away from arcade an a bit past the simcade racers, with the likes of Assetto Corsa, etc on console releases.
-
Actually i completely understand your point and agree that the stages have to look different to appeal, but I simply belive the NZ is different enough. Finland looks far more similar to Wales than Nz would, but its in the game because its a completely different type of rally. I understand the reason completely, i just dont think that reason applies to NZ. And yeah im not sitting here thinking I can change what Paul does, Im just stating I think the reason is invalid. I understand why It wont likely be in the game because its the furthest possible place to visit, I dont buy the fact that its "too similar", visually or physically. You stated that Malaysia would be good because its "different". Yet a lot of NZ stages look very similar to what you would find in a place like Malaysia, the plants, the red dirt... Yes this is my personal opinion, and its not going to change the situation, but this is the Gossip thread, and the entire point of it is that we dont have facts so we share our opinions. Following this argument, I have a question. I understand the palette differences for marketing and changing the feeling of the location, thats fine. BUT How do other games get away with it and still produce a marketable game? Assetto Corsa, F1, PCars or WRC all have a lot of similar looking places, however each venue is still unique. Its early in the morning here, so I am just throwing this out with out thinking to hard on it.

I think its the Subaru 22b rally edition xD
