DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Yeah, after calmly down a little, I was thinking the same thing.   If if they where to use a specific rally school, then permission would be needed.  But I keep thinking it's not going to be a big addition, and more like a livery or car, yeah Colin related

Digging around Rally Schools, I found this from way back, possible connection? https://twitter.com/dirtfishrally/status/486613458406735872 EDIT: David Binks also used to work at DirtFish as an instructor

This made it interesting: https://twitter.com/Kick_Up/status/686863752889810944 @mastavonblasta Rally School, you could be right, Paul has mentioned taking another avenue often for rally education.  But that has gone silent over the past month or so. (BTW: congrats on getting you name fixed!)

It has to be something major, the Renault Alpine, etc. wouldn't be this cool to be waiting for for 5 years.  Could it be a trip to New Zealand/Australia?  Maybe a feature they are able to implement now because management has allowed more resources for DiRT team?

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

It's still pointless until we get the staggered starts with other cars on the stage at the same time back. Massive investment in tech for small gain otherwise. I don't think that'll happen until either a completely new engine is made or the stages are made shorter, more like in DiRT 3. And I don't think anyone really wants that. Umm l thought that was self explanatory in the post, kind of common sense if you read what I have posted many times before.   Engine overhaul is needed for ANY forward progress there have been many features that have been ask about that Paul and Co has replied that the current engine doesn't support. Underkex said: Am I the only one who think that they shouldn't go for Dirt Rally 2 in 4 or 5 years at least? I think Asseto Corsa (or other sim racing games) model with lots of patches and expansions/DLCs is the way to go. Bring the improvements to Dirt Rally and don't think in the sequel unless you have something really new and different. I know this is not Codemasters business model (formula 1) but they have surprised everyone with this amazing early access, keep in touch with the community and don't end the development now. I would like this model followed in the future, but as @Didzis mentioned we need a better base to grow with first.

Since they worked so hard on the physics model in DR this time, maybe DR2 will focus a little more on perfecting damage model and engine model.  I read somewhere that engine modeling has its shortcomings too.  The engine model isn't detailed enough to feed into other parts of the model (i.e. sound, damage, etc) for the extreme fidelity that that we are looking for at times.   Remember DR has been a bit of a test bed for the future.  There are many things they need to improve and add that is on Pauls bucket list.  Now that they have proven to management that they can succeed in producing a 'simulation' type of rally game that generates a profit, the future game may get more resources (people and money) to allow for a lot of these other features. I'm not saying DR is not done extremely well, or unpolished, per say, but a future title will be able to focus on more of these other things. If you re watch a lot of the Live shows, and take note of Paul's replies to the questions we've asked, he has stated much of the above.   On a side thought, It would be really cool if they could do the next game by building on the previous title.  They could take the current content, improve it/update it, and also add to it with other locations and cars.  Maybe expand Wales to other stages, but don't ax Bindo-Moorland, because its so iconic, even though we know the turns so well.  If terrain deformation would be added, a muddy day in Wales would make for a whole new challenge, even more so if you are a few cars back in the order.

It's an absolute stunner. This one is possibly even better though. Ignore the crappy audio, I can't remember what went wrong with it, just look at the crazy stage, lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qhBPAg4d6Y If this was all gravel, many parts of this would look like stages we have here in America.  Fast and flowing, not extremely technical, but doing 100+ kph through a narrow forest road (on gravel) is not easy either.

I'd say the economical situation in European countries makes it a lot harder to appreciate what we have here, since we often don't have time and resources to be able to appreciate it. Sorry that was a bit of a ignorant remark on my part. I guess I'm just a little jealous.   BUT because of the challenge of such a small market over here, it's a rather close community.

@F2CMaDMaXX absolutely!  Cannot recommend it enough.  I don't how Europeans relate to it, since it's mostly filmed at Rally America events here in the US.  (I think US rally fans appreciate what we have, more than Europe) You have been transplanted here, so maybe you will see it differently.   Really it it is about the struggles of rallying, no matter what level.   I know quite a few of the people in it, and if you know where to look, I'm in it too

It'd play like Greece, which is why I like Greece so much. With a title like "Dirt" I would hope we would get some more DIRT than tarmac.  There, I said it (now ducking for cover)

Just to back up on my comment, I wasn't agreeing with it being changed to DiRT 4.  But I could see management wanting it.. Because well we know how management can be..

Team VVV called it DiRT 4 as well when talking about the console release.  I mentioned it to them and it was quickly corrected.  Maybe there was an info packet put out from CM with the mistake, or it is being slipped out, and it's the official title?

I always thought unfiltered (no-cat/converter) 100 octane run in most classic cars in the US has a sweet smell to it.

I guess I didn't know that.  Maybe for the time it was fast or the one here in the US is slow.  Maybe after watching all the others it's seems slow.  I'm sure it's fun to drive in RL

I actually love this car, it's always fun to see.   Standing in the woods and hearing it from a far, kind of catches you off guard since its soo! Loud!  it's a good laugh once it put-puts by slowly :) not sure if I would put it in, maybe for training or very first car to afford.

New Years Resolution: let's talk more Gossip, stop trying to correct each other, it's really not that important beyond having a little fun with each other.   I think this thread has lost it purpose a little.  Missing Lee feeding us hints and keeping us guessing.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I really don't want to get involved in this, but I would like to add something.   Im not entirely sure about what the official Prodrive documents are out there for the Subaru, I am sure they are out there, it's why the whole 22b mistake is settled quickly.  Are their official Audi Factory documents for Quattro rally program, designating the S1/E2?   I think the confusion is all of these are quotes from interviews and such.  If someone would refer to their Subaru continually as a "2007 Subaru WRX STI" to be technically correct, you would sound a bit weird, instead for convenience they may just shorten it to "my Subie" if your in certain company.   I think the S1 or E2 debate falls under the same circumstances, where did the interview take place, for what purpose (promotional?) or right after the driver jumped out of the car?  Lots of different places can change why and when it was called a certain name.   I hope this helps
