  1. What i have learned on the gossip channel over the past week or more.

Gimme my kuraw keibab pizza, now!

     Canon cameras have interchangeable lenses.

Some Codemasters employees have DiRTy minds, and like to share inside jokes.

Everyone thinks they know how to say Jaguar properly.

In Arizona you eat tor-tee-yas and live in a trailer in the Grand Canyon. :)

I should do a top 5 every week.

Sometimes new equipment is great, but its fun working with what you have till you know it inside and out and you seem to have done that :)
Fully agree with this @gfRally: financial reasons aside, I still feel like I have a lot more to learn with the stuff I have, so I'd like to be sure I'm getting the most out of that first!
I though Canon also had interchangeable lenses?
My friend went to the D810 for some reason or another... think it had more features he wanted or something. Maybe better lowlight or action? But it is nice that if I get a low end we can share lenses.

Canon does, and they may have standardized over the past few years, not sure always shot nikon, so im only familiar with them.  There was a time some years ago that they changed with every couple of models.

Currently the biggest differences between Nikon and Canon is Canon is lightyears ahead on video, and nikons are a wee sharper and do better in low light.  This is what the reviews say at least.

Nikon F-Mount lenses date back to the 70s, my D300 can use them all.  Of course the older you get the less features you have, like metering modes, AF (of course), etc.  Reverse compatibility, newer lenses to older bodies, I'm not real sure about.

The nice thing, is there are some old lenses with almost superior optics that will still fit a current model.  I have used a pre-autofocus lens (early 80s?) that only cost $70 compared to $800 brand new equivalent.  I've been taking photos so long that manual focus/manual exposure isn't too hard to work out quickly, just takes more planing if your taking action pix.

Anyhow, point being, its a nice advantage.  However, the pix you are getting back, are very good.  Sometimes new equipment is great, but its fun working with what you have till you know it inside and out and you seem to have done that :)

  4. I think it looks great, especially the "snow" on the lens.
My big gripe is trying to figure out what this means: "not wanting to debate on Forza not being a time"
"not wanting to debate on Forza not being a time" -> "not wanting to debate on Forza not being a sim" maybe?

And yeah, that trailer does look pretty nice...
Oops, yes it was supposed to read 'sim'.

Seriously shouldn't be a debate, but somehow after a few posts it ends up that way.

  5. putting WRC 2017 aside, for now.  Just saw this footage.  I'm not a big Forza fan its a fun game to play with some not-so-serious friends of mine.  Nice rally cars in there, esp that Subie

Please, this is just sharing rally related game stuff.. not wanting to debate on Forza not being a time, etc etc etc.  They have nice graphics and some pretty good licenses.

  6. If the VW makes it out, and it still looks like the prototype, it will be my favorite.

I'm sure these will grow on us, it may take a while for some.  @RallyDriven is right, stuff has to progress, and at least they are still burning fuel and not electric.  The sound will always be incredible with piston engines.

If you really think about it, we are sounding like old people, recalling past times and telling stories about how it was when they were kids.

Does anybody apart from me think WRC is going in the WRONG direction with these cars?

Reminds me very much of the move from the old homologated Gp2 and Gp 4 cars in 1982 to Gp B. And we all know how that worked out.

Insane cars that very few privateers could get access to, or afford to run. And very few drivers who had the ability to control them. And after a bunch of unfortunate deaths Gp B was banned.

Rallying, originally, was about reliability. And to rally you at least manufacturers had to have produced a few thousand similar road cars.

This car, with a monstrous wing looks nothing like a Ford Fiesta.
I will agree with you to an extent.  The last line, where this looks nothing like a Fiesta, yes.  They are going very very far away from what you can buy.  Back in Gp B they had to make so many of the car that actually looked like racer (basically).  Besides the Audi S1E2 the aero kits where minimal.

I'm probably going to be proved wrong about the above statement.

The aero is just ridiculous now, nearly to the point of silly.  Maybe in full sponsored livery, it will calm down the lines a little, but IDK well see.

I don't think we will see a repeat of 1982 where people where killed because of the power of the cars.  Safety is way more controlled today than then.  That being said, there are far more stupid people with phones that will put themselves in danger (selfies with cars flying by, etc), I hope not.

Everyone has an opinion that differs on here.  I will enjoy the speed and power, probably the sound too.  But we will see about the entertainment value.
