Depending on the stage, I guess it could be possible to actually make something along the lines of the length of the Finnish stages. I'd think making a Kenyan stage would take less resources engine wise than something like Finland, given the sparse nature of the landscape. Certainly plenty of obstacles in this 10 minutes of onboard! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pinoWOCIwFQbogani said:Kenya/Safari with 7-8 minute stages just doesn't do it for me. It's all about endurance imo.
Sparse, true, then this! :)

If a Safari Rally would be done, IMHO it would have to be done right.
Lots of dust and MUDDY water crossings.
Cars would need proper gear, if you can call it that:

And of course the Datsun 240z that was so famous in the Safari rally way back.
The bar is just been set too high in the current DR graphics and environment to have less. So not sure if this would be a DLC that could do the even justice. -
One "legendary" place is full gravel Pikes Peak. -
No rally school, this:
"For fresh players, we've developed a detailed set of tutorial videos that cover all aspects of driving a rally car. We want to teach players how to handle our cars, rather than making things easier."

I am not guessing here or saying something should happen, just throwing out some facts.
Remember that DiRT Team have a large collection of reference material of places from their previous DiRT games. Just let your mind run wild at all the places they have been to. We also know that they reuse assets from previous titles, so they aren't starting from a blank paper to build these.
We don't know much of anything other than a car or two will be coming along at some point, and there is some sort of Legends version, whatever that will be, we don't have much.
Whatever they feel makes most sense for marketing and sales, if that means more stages to the places we have, or new places based on previous material (which sounds good for marketing).
Again I am not saying they should or will do anything further, its all just stuff to think about.
At some point they will need to start working on the next title. -

My bets are on Thursday or Friday, if there is some exclusive info on Absolute Rally show -
I agree with some of his concerns at the end of the article, but it does not feel unfinished. The menus are simple and get you neatly from A to B fairly quick. One thing I fail to understand at all is the lack of mentioning he car sounds!?? Oh well, glad they praised it for everything else, generating more sales, and sending a loud message to those in charge at Codies. -
Oh don't get me started again about custom cameras! :weary:Rallycameraman said:

That... doesn't look like a screenshot obtainable through normal means.
I suspect the dev build hacks/tools, getting the camera way down there over the edge.

WHY DO YOU LOT KEEP TAUNTING MEEEEE
I'll say that again, a Fiesta launching like a rocket off of a cliff in Monte.
You are all awful, awful people. :'( -
@RyuMakkuro Impreza "not the cool one" how can you say that, all Subarus are cool and great and have complicated numbers ;)

Most Rally cars are ugly, but thats what makes them so great. Want pretty? Go drive a Ferrari or something. :smiley:Evilsmurf said:but the A2 looks so... ugly!
And Im about 99% sure our beloved DiRT Rally art is an based on this A2
Its ok @Evilsmurf you are one of the few that can take 'ugly' and beat it into submission  and for that, you have my respect. -

We already have the S1. It's the Quattro E2 for the Group B that's the thing. Some competition for "the pug" is needed.gfRally said:
Also I know this has been discussed (and beaten) but what is everyone talking about the Audi E2, there are a bunch of different E2s out there. I like the non Group B model since it hasn't been modeled as often. Not saying I dislike the S1 at all!
So this is the E2? More or less the rally version of the Pikes Peak car (not accurate, I know).
So this is the Audi I am talking about its the A2:
Again, I love the S1, but this hasn't been done often or at all. Not the Group B history but.. -
If we are going back, then certainly the 90,92 Legacy.bogani said:

There is so many things in that video that would be cool to have in the next DiRT Rally game. People could be there if they where all like brick walls, unrealistic when you hit them, but would enforce the value of the lives and deter you from hitting them. It would make for some really tight stages, they would have to be animated though.
Anyhow, done dreaming/wishing. Great video!
Of course @griev0r I have watched that video many many times, it was one of the first artistic videos done for DiRT Rally and really one of the few. -

with regards to reading between the lines of the road book, remember the trip to Barcelona? That would be a likely new location for potential dlc
There was also a wink when questioned about rally CATALONIA, which would be cool as its a mixed surface event, though I still prefer gravel. I love gravel and the sound of it, its part of me (quite literally from a cycling accident when I was young  ) -
Just being a typical Gossiper, and trying to read between lines/dissect everything said. @Hatward did say "Rounding off our car list for this year is the Hyundai Rally. " so maybe more NEXT year?
Also this:
"That’s it from us – next time you drop by we’ll have a lot more to talk about. ;) "
a LOT more? What possibly could be said, we know pretty much everything now. So there are more goodies on the horizon?
In all seriousness, I must say that Early Access has been like a crack addiction. Getting something new every month was a lot of fun, but now that its almost come to a close, its like our dealer got caught and our supply is run out. So this is a dilemma in some ways, but not a bad one to have. -

Make sure you start Dirt Rally with wheel buttons!!!
If mouse or KB is pressed on start screen, custom button mapping is lost. Its the only case just like it was on Dirt 3
Ok, maybe I spoke to much about there are not major bugs, I guess a couple are still creeping around.
And yes, the button/mouse/keyboard thing is a bit annoying, too.
There are a few leftovers from past titles that need scrapped and overhauled for the next game. We all have our favorites.
DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games
in DiRT Rally 2.0
Posted
The more I think about it, it seems this may be one to shelf till the next title. It would really shine if they implement a mild terrain deformation (not spintires pudding deformation), and maybe a revamped particle system for HUGE dust clouds, etc. Dust would probably effect the visibility if you are second or third back. So there are pluses and minuses.
China was fun in DiRT2, I actually enjoyed most of the rally events in D2, but I could go on and on about the little things that I would like to see in the future, so I will stop here.
