  1. @dgeesi0
Maybe they will surprise all of us  even the testers, sounds like from @KickUp 's tweets that there is very possibly some future for DR 1 wether free or DLC.

If the "no time left" reply to any future DR1 then they are working on DR2 after first of the year.

I'm not seeing THAT many bugs left to squash anymore.  So there probably isn't going to be a mad rush to get a patch out to fix some catastrophic issue. EA is great for making sure a near perfect game is launched.

Looking forward to standing at the local Big Box Store telling everyone to buy this game as I hand them a copy :joy:

  2. Totally agree with you, Dirt 2 had an interesting story that involved you. I would like to see a more professional version of it, with dirt rally physics and stages
Oh yeah, one more, absolutely have to have CMR3 animations.  Loved the service area work and sounds, the start of the stage animations with marshal walking up to car, and finally the celebrations at the end of the event.

These just add to the experience and rally culture we love.

People are as much about rally as the cars and places.

  3. I would honestly like to see a combination of the first 2 DiRT titles with CMR3 rally atmosphere.

DiRT2 had a story, and a variety of locations all over the world.

Tone down the DiRT2 xgames style, make it serious, but more of a journey from grassroots to Pro level.  Possibly branch to different types of rally.  Stage, Rallycross, Baja, Mint 400 style (http://themint400.com/2014/03/2014-mint-400-race-map/)

These are Real sports/real tracks/locations, not made up "glam" locations.

I liked DiRT2 world locations (expensive to do though), but use real events.  Keep the current DiRT Rally locations, just use new stages/areas.

DiRT1 had Lorries and kind of Dakar-esq style racing, which was a nice addition.

I still play D2 for fun and for the non technical nature.  Sometimes it doesn't have to be real to be fun, that said I still want DR to move forward with its serious and simulation based experience.

Oh yeah keep PikesPeak too, just needs full dirt and more cars, even less hp rally cars, add fairings and larger spoilers like in D2.

  4. I would love for this time next year to start hearing rumors of DiRT Rally 2, not an release to soon.  I'm sure the console version will be out the door by April.  No sense in doing a PCars 2 move and getting everyone upset, even though that's how development works.

Maybe a few small DLCs between now and console release for us PC users and console version will be a deluxe edition right from the start, with all DLC included.

I would think the next iteration would be a little quicker than the 4-5 year wait.  Since some of the physics groundwork has been laid down.

Hopefully we will see another early access again.  However it does seem to take a toll on the developers, @KickUp mentioned this at least once in a road book there was more pressure to get a release out every month.

  5. I suggest the next Codemasters title be "Colin McRae Subaru DiRT Rally 555" featuring all Subarus ever made for rally, complete with history lessons, explanation of 22b (FPS mode, kill the guy that uses 22b [edit: w/flamethrower]).

A special version of Rosetta stone:  How to pronounce Subaru and Impreza properly (there is no T in imprezzza!).  Bonus lesson on Aluminum.

Beat Colins time and it will play a video of him denouncing his relationship with Ford with a video of all the crashed up Fords along with ONLY Subarus drifting.

Hillclimb mode: Race agains other subarus in heaven (thats all they drive up there!)

eh @kickup , @tbtstt ..  are you on board?  Have I offended everyone here?

It's not the most adventurous answer, but the latter is most likely with hints towards the future.
There's a lot to talk about with the Early Access adventure coming to an end.
And as the saying goes "it's not the destination, but the journey"  and the journey has been memorable!

@justbiglee  started it out with a never to be done again surprise.

  7. @BrySkye Good points.

Regarding the PP cars, I am very suspicious that Sebastien Leob's 208 was THE car that the all tarmac versions was made for.  It was probably signed away to SLER when he signed on.  Its probably more of a technicality of  that particular car would not be licensed, i.e. that they are licensed together not separate.

    @JZStudios

Many wanted it in the early days before the release, there where a few posts about it.  I am happy with it, its fun to not have jumps and relatively smooth wide road with monster HP cars.  Its still a historical rally, although not officially called such.  Its a shame the licensing has neutered it some, maybe there is still some promise, not holding my breath though.

I will say that it inspired my summer vacation that started going up Pikes Peak and on to 2500 miles of driving.  Good memories.

  8. Talk to anyone in a non WRC car that rally's in RL about jumps of any kind.  Most will tell you they tap brakes before a jump, most cars just can't handle a beating like that, lots of struts going thru the towers and occasionally the hood (bonnet).

In RL we wouldn't take the chances and speed that we do in the games, the risk isn't there, no resets in real life.

  9. @jennyannem   Hello!

As others have said, this thread is an institution for DiRT Rally Gossip, past present and hopefully for the future.

The only arguments you will see here are over spoilers and grills.  Maybe we get a little whiny about sound and handling, but never trashing you guys for not delivering something.

Oh yeah, I whine about no American rally events in DiRT Rally, but I am getting therapy for that.

All we will ever ask of you is for some gossip to well.. gossip about.

But you know about this already.

  10. @BrySkye

I was thinking it was more the opposite that WRX/Monster energy would dampen the use of other energy drinks.  True DiRT3 had both in their liveries, they didn't have the clout as Monster does with WRX in the game.  It was just a shot from the hip reason why no energy drinks have appeared in the game other than Monster.

  11. A part of me wants to think that If SLRE wasn't made that DR would have a few more cars.

The other part of me thinks that all the red bull stuff tied to Sebastian Loeb might have conflicted with WRX monster energy advertising so a lot of his cars where not allowed.  Yes Liveries are separate from cars, but sponsors give a lot of money for some cars to even happen (SL and Peugeot would probably not done pike peak without them) so may not be able to have the car without the livery, opposite to the current C4 in the game, but similar reasoning.

anyhow just some theories for gossip

  12. @RodgerDavies

I remember seeing a Fiesta R2 on there, I would still like to see this.  Don't know the probability.

Some are asking for a Datson 270z car,  I would like this, maybe could fit into a Entry-level class with the Fiesta R2, but its a little out of place without a Africa (safari) event.
