  1. Let's see "moving mountains" and "cliff"... something in that perhaps?

@gfrally @Rallycameraman ,... what place are mountains? ,... Scandinavia,.. what is next week?,... World RX of Sweden ,.... what was in @justbiglee 's DiRTy book ,... something with a trip aranging a trip to the Höljes hmmm I think this is suspicious, what would Lee have arranged with a rallycross trip in Sweden,... would it be something with Petter Solberg? :O after all he lives close to Sweden and Höljes is close to the boundary of Norway,... Not to mention Petter use to play the rallycross part with his son Oliver in the DiRT 3 game,... in other words Petter is fan of the Codemasters games! :O

Would make sence specially because Petter Solberg = Rally, rallycross and Hillclimb,.... = DiRT Rally game....
    #DiRTyGossip! Gets me excited!!!

Perhaps Petters wrc Subaru will be in the game???  Wishing

  2. What everyone loose their twitter account yesterday?

  3. Since DiRT Rally is a work in progress, there are a couple of (small?) graphics things that I have noticed that could be improved.  I am posting them here first to see what you guys think, not weather they need to focus on other parts, just if you think its something that you agree with, and I know you guys wont beat me up too much :)

    1) Although cars get pretty dirty on some stages, I find it odd that dirt and dust doesn't fall on horizontal surfaces.  It sees that these areas should get some sort of film and grime on them.

    2) in Greece especially when the car passes, on a drone or a panning view, the screen fills up with dust (great effect!) but there is this odd grey area under the tires that just doesn't look right thru the dust, like the layers are mixed up.  I would think once the dust fills up the camera and you see the rear of the car for a bit that you should only see the dust in front of the camera not the grey behind the the dust (from camera angle).  Not sure if I am making sense, I'll post a pic of what I mean.

Yeah its small stuff, but in the past its been the  small stuff is what made DiRT so great.  Really we don't need swaying foliage or spectators clapping or varied spectators or really any, as some call 'fluf' but when all this 'fluf' is put together it realty adds and ambiance to the overall game that adds to the realism.

As always I don't know what goes into programming this sort of stuff and its way easier to type than to implement, again beyond the technical side, if it was waving a magic wand, would you like to see these fixed or added?

  4. I'll comment later since I am looking at this on my phone, but being nitpicky on visuals of all the Rally Games DR included.  On my phone I see that the hood (bonnet) gets dusty, it would be nice to see that in DR.  Again I'm nitpicking but that's just what my work has trained me to do, really it's a sickness:)

  5. Now here is some gossip worthy news!

    http://www.virtualr.net/porsche-breaking-free-least

EA's exclusive Porsche license will expire in 2016.  Could it be possible that we could see a Porsche DLC pack for DiRT Rally next year sometime.  I can just imagine a 959 in some sort of desert event or a new GT3 (Tuttel Racing version) possibly in the upcoming Germany event.

    Well I can dream can't I

  6. @griev0r
I think compared to DR all other Rally games will need to put
"work in progress, physics not implemented" on their box, or just use that in the tag line.

I hope the others the best, variety is nice and sometimes
innovative, but I don't think it will come from these guys.

  7. I see no reason to buy SebLoeb, seeing this video and how the cars seem unattached to the environment or planted on the ground.  Car handeling looks really bad (what you can take from a video, are they still driving with keyboard?).  I like competition and more options, but Im not really excited at the moment either.

  8. Here is a question, it was asked about Steamworkshop and @KickUp mentioned it could be more than content created?  Content to me is Cars, Tracks, Liveries.  I don't think mods like physics/sound/hdr color or whatever..  Anyone have an idea what was ment there?  Paul, could you elaborate?  Maybe I'm listening too close :)

  9. First proper mention of what's coming for Rallycross:
    - safe to assume Lydden Hill will be one of the tracks
    - iconic European rallycross tracks (how many is not clear)
    - art team were at Lydden Hill last weekend taking photos of car liveries - this must mean they will be licenced!  FIA World RX in DiRT Rally? Lee directed the viewers to check out rallycrossrx.com :)
    - simulation in the game will be expanded for rallycross cars after speaking to the rallycross team technicians and drivers

    Woooohooo! Can't wait! :D
Yeah they where pretty casual about mentioning FIA.  BUT I sorta herd in the conversation that it's not all the tracks so it might be more associated with FIA tracks instead of a full track/season license.  That's fine with me, I think we had 4? In dirt3? Only needed a few to have fun, not sure if it's a career worth.

  10. Achievements for the Pikes Peak Pack were added on Steam!

    http://steamcommunity.com/stats/310560/achievements

Are we about to see the release of the pack tomorrow?   :D
Using some of the american cars licensed from DiRT3 & DiRT2 would be a nice and appropriate addition for Pikes Peak, there are many of these types of cars that run each year, though some highly modified.  Proper place for the American licenses, not on a rally, very few even end up in American rally and many are laughed at!  I once saw a ford mustang at 100aw, it was a dog and everyone laughed!

  11. Just found this video about a WIP game including terrain deformation. Looks interesting. I remember from when I used to drive a 80cc quad at home that the track got all bumpy at the corners because of braking and such. Would be especially nice for rallycross, but I can imagine that this is too much of a feature to be implemented if they're not working on such thing already.

    wow!

Well your killing me on this one, because I have been lobbying for both.  Selfishly I am going to say the camera modes.  But I need to improve my driving to and I would always have thought it would be good to get some proper training and would help a lot of others too.

However for longevity I think would get a lot more from the cameras.

BUT here is my question, to you Lee, is it a huge task to allow saving replays and a user controllable camera, that it would take away from some other project?  This is a really bad question and probably a bit ignorant of my knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes.

I don't want to be 'that guy' that says ohhh you just flip a couple switches and type a few lines of code and its done, maybe 10mins work, sorry.  Its my opinion, I'm just a drop in the ocean, so whatever comes of it, I won't complain, lol.
I was maybe being a little flippant earlier so sorry if I came across as short, It probably would be pretty big job for us, the thing is with the way we work is that everything has a "time cost" associated with it - It's not a case of money, the currency is hours. So we have to decide how best to spend those hours, @Rallycameraman  got a first hand experience of how we had to balance everything that went into the game when he visited one time - ask him nicely and he'll tell you about it I'm sure.

As it stands at the moment we've spent a load of hours getting to this point, we've got x amount of hours planned for the update packs, x amount for bug fixing and x amount for working on features and improvements that you guys want. Some of that has already been spent on the FFB update and we're in the process of working out how to spend the rest based on what's most important to you guys, its tricky to nail down what that is at the moment though as it seems to shift regularly - which is awesome don't get me wrong.

That help explain how we do it a little better?
No Lee, didn't take you coming across that way at all    I figured as much for the time you guys have.  I should probably just try to keep my opinions quiet if I can.  Everyone wants something changed/added/fixed I guess replay cameras enhancements are my big wish.

You have made a game that is incredible (no joke or kiss up) very happy with how its turned out and i am quite satisfied with the physics and the FFB.

I have only dared to take my car out in the snow and play around, did about 60 down a snow covered back road slid around a turn sideways pretty proper, but about soiled my shorts doing so (slowed to about 35 at that point), happy i didn't wreck! my car drifted and feedback from the wheel seems about right to me, but that was only 1 time + numerous hooning in parking lots, so I'm no expert.

So I'm going to take a shot of whisky and bite on some leather so you doctors can operate..  I'll live with whatever you give us, its all been good.

I really like your idea @Areyouben , but the A roll/b roll could be simplified if the replays could just be optionally saved after each stage, so it can be watched at another time.  This would allow you to ff and rw from any camera at any placed camera you select.  Make sense?  Saving replays makes all this a lot simpler.  Again I like your idea, there just maybe another way to the same end :)
So you mean you'd have an option to manually select any camera at any point and kinda scroll trough the cameras? I think both would be nice to have ultimately. Nice thing of the a-roll/b-roll thing is that you can just select one roll and watch the whole replay with nice long cuts without doing anything. The nice thing of the 'select your camera at any point' thing would be to really get some custom shots where you choose the lengths of every shot yourself.
@Areyouben sorry I think I didn't understand that you mention 2x automated camera views, that can be switched between, yes I do like that.
