DiRT Rally 2.0 - Version 1.9 VR Feedback
nbates66 replied to PJTierney's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0 Support
This is normal, Ground cover has always incurred a massive performance hit to VR Rendering in DR1.0 and DR2.0, across Occulus, SteamVR and WindowsMR devices. -
DiRT Rally 2.0 - Version 1.8 VR Feedback
nbates66 replied to PJTierney's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0 Support
Curious as to if that's also related to USB input devices I mentioned in the last post here: Does your issue also clear if you go through the USB input devices and disable them? -
Steam VR has two, one for all apps and then an override that works on a Per-app basis, I'm not sure it really matters however if you change both, as long as you pay attention to the final application resolution:
-
Figured I'd add this here, had a constant stuttering problem on new ASUS Strix motherboard based system, ended up clearing when the specific USB input device in this picture is disabled. My motherboard is an ASUS ROG Strix B-450-I but it's probably a safe bet that ASUS use the same AURA RGB controller on their ROG B350, X370 and X470 ITX boards, if you have a PC based on any of these boards see if disabling this device makes a difference, Entirely possible my system is just an edge case but anyone who finds that disabling a USB device clears the stutter please take note of the devices details here.

VR, DirtFish & Patch Notes: Version 1.7 of DiRT Rally 2.0
nbates66 replied to PJTierney's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
As one who struggled to get DR1 to run well in VR, I cannot agree with this assessment on DR2.0 VR, however I only own one headset to test with. Also shoutout to those who predicted that if VR got added there would be various peoples complaining their particular platform was less favoured than some other. Some lighting is sub-optimal on my Dell Visor as well but I thought it'd just be due to the quality of the displays, I gotta get my hands on one of those Samsung Odyssey's. -

Which device made the difference? What's the motherboard model? -

@ShodanCat For curiosity's sake, exactly which version drivers do you have? Disabled Shadowplay / Radeon Relive / Steam Overlay? These are the drivers and software I have installed and working without issues: -
seems ok for high settings to me, looking at the minimum requirements I'd probably still be able to play it on my GTX 670 If it hadn't chucked the bucket. Boy those #NOVRNOBUY snowflakes woulda been needing RTX titans to play it in VR though I bet haha.

I think this is a good way to go about it, If a class is going to be DLC, keep one car available as a "taster" car.
-
Re Mad Studios console: wait until they start talking like they have a clue what they're on about. "60FPS VR" Is probably great if you enjoy emptying stomach contents. There's a good reason most of the VR headsets around target 90FPS per eye (180FPS).

Any more news on the availability of the steelbook? I've just found out that I cannot get Dirt Rally 2.0 for PC shipped to Australia via Amazon UK so that idea is out.
-
Do we know the exact suspension tyre and damping layouts of the car Jon was driving as well as the one in your vid?
-
Wouldn't one want to see how the car behaves on a different tyre compound before making a judgement? (speaking as a mostly non-expert)
-
So regarding this steelbook, is it still possible for me to get one via ordering online from Amazon UK? It half sounded like you had to go into a retail store to get one.
-
perhaps, but what about those start and finish markers??? I actually managed to terminate a FWD GTI on them at the end of a Wales stage in Dirt 4 a few days ago, are those seeing adjustments in Dirt Rally 2.0?
-
Well i'd like to take credit but that goes to somebody else, i'm finding it WAAAAY harder than it needs to be to find out who did it! Source: https://www.pinterest.com.au/pin/300615343859638090/ EDIT: Camo Wedding apparently hahaha

EDIT whelp epic fail embed... body too short

Voicing an opinion is one thing, spreading things like "VRORNOBUY" or effectively encouraging a boycott unless you get what you want is going a bit further.

Well, I don't do it anywhere near as often these days but things always go horribly wrong for me if I manage to stall the engine before a turn in Rally games. :)

So it's for certain that the engine stalled itself and the stall wasn't caused by locking the wheels under braking? -
I've got a feeling that here in Australia it's used for something completely different - Used to come in chocolate block form:
-
So is it the case that in some circumstances the varied track conditions could open up cuts in the corners, or perhaps even the opposite? ::smile:
-
OH if only it was all of us PC players! :'( I somewhat doubt that platform was the main driver for their choice of testers. :)

Whilst I would've liked to make a lot more noise about VR support the simple truth is that my system can barely handle it in Dirt Rally and GPU's that can handle it consistently are still far in the high end, whilst the lower cost WMR headsets are a hardware option(arguably better in some ways for driving compared to Occulus and Vive) they have slightly higher resolutions leading to even more system strain, this couples furthermore with the disappointing recent GPU release at over $1000 which means that it's still costly to get into VR for many users, and may continue to be so.

Nope, it had random rock placement. 100% I definitely hit a random rock on Wales after a jump but I think I've only noticed it twice. regarding the 2.0 hype, what if they meant 2.0 years until release...
