Direct drive vs belt/gear wheels and player satisfaction in Dirt Rally 2.0?
nbates66 replied to FlatOverCrest's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
So my desk is actually a rather sturdy corner desk so that wasn't really an issue, what really made a difference when I moved to the rig was that I was no longer using my rotating computer chair 🤣 So if a rig is out of reach (they're certainly expensive) do whatever you can to replace a computer chair with something else, something more solid. I've seen camping chairs suggested when could make sense if you get the right one. -
I play in VR, it ends up feeling more "real" because you are naturally trying to look where you want to go and can feel the rotation of the car when doing so, I don't know if that would work the same way if the game is just turning your view for the corners without you controlling it, I haven't played any circuit games with Look to apex on via monitor for comparison either.

Hmm, that wouldn't mix up your sense of car rotation in a rally game?

They changed the force feedback behavior in an update but not car physics, they even specifically noted that they did so.

Microsoft is Intending for all Xbox one games to be playable on the upcoming Xbox Series X console. Sony have said they "recently took a look at the top 100 PS4 titles as ranked by play time, and we're expecting almost all of them to be playable at launch on PS5." then Sony corrected themselves and said "the overwhelming majority of 4,000+ PS4 titles will be playable on PS5." If it does run, that doesn't automatically mean that graphics will be improved for console versions as presumably that may require some work from games developers to get anything beyond resolution and framerate increases, in any case can already get the game to look and run better on PC.

Scotland DLC Huge FPS Down at certain point
nbates66 replied to mesa's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0 Support
Sounds like this stage in particular runs into limitations on old quad-core CPU's, i definitely noticed an improvement in various areas when i moved from my Core i5-4670K based system to my current Ryzen 5 3600 system even though i'm using the same GPU, though that was before Scotland got released so can't do a comparison now. Perhaps Codemasters can do some targeted optimization for older CPUs on Scotland? -

Sorry, but it never started working for me yet even though i didn't do any repeat posts, the time i was playing earlier today i was only doing historical because career and competitive isn't working, leaderboards in historical was barely intermittently working at best, Steam user in Australia. Latest error still: -

Can more people post their system specs as well so we can get a handle on if it's related to hardware config? -

My game just decided to reset my championship My Team save due to some supposed data discrepancy during the latest intermittent server uptime, i hope you have a way to restore that. 😞 -

odd... System Specifications? -
have to try doing 60 Km on the mediums to see just how bad they end up by that point. I'll note that various RWD cars, (or maybe it's the stupid suspension alignments i try to use) go through tyres like crazy, think i had the Porsche 911 Grp B get Mediums to Worn at or before 25KM on gravel?

Try turning Ground cover and Advanced Blending down then, Trees next. Crowds aren't too bad in DR2.0 unless in VR mode. -

Try turning Ambient Occlusion down or off, both the stepper and the advanced setting. -
This seems to be a good one, i set it to match my current SteamVR render resolution, so resolution width="1928" height="1928" (trying to match 1920x1080 resolution width for video capture)

v1.13 driving physics update? [CM response: No change was made]
nbates66 replied to Tigron's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
I agree with the FOV difference, i tried to setup a more correct FOV on my monitor once across all the DiRT games and found it messed up my judgement of everything when trying to catch slides - my monitor is too small and at the wrong distance from my face for FOV correction to be useful, returning the FOV setting to the default i was used to and i could catch slides again, the physics didn't change - just my perception and reaction to what i was seeing. -
Compared to what exactly? I mean perhaps it'd be nice if the rain IRL didn't obscure things as badly as it does but Reality doesn't give a stuff about what would be nice, as far as Dirt Rally 2.0's rain goes the main windshield seems ok to me, from both VR and non-VR perspective though there is certainly room for improvement to the sophistication of it's implementation, besides that the visibility through the side windows *maybe?* seems always fixed to a high speed effect but I'd be more interested in them restoring the puddle-pull effects from DiRT4 before focusing on that if possible.(and of course tarmac handling)

v1.13 driving physics update? [CM response: No change was made]

Sorry to burst your bubble but that leaderboard is clearly not very populated(can tell from the size of the scrollbar), which is often the case for wet leaderboards, This means that you do not see a good spread of data representative of the whole playerbase. The top time for the Subaru NR4 is far beyond what is seen in your screenshot, i just found out doing a run myself, one run - no practice with the car: Also just for kicks i did some runs in non-VR mode and matched that time there as well. -
v1.13 driving physics update? [CM response: No change was made]
nbates66 replied to Tigron's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
Physics does not change between VR mode and non-VR mode, i used to switch frequently when tuning performance on VR release, and further on due to some stages having issues with multiplayer disconnects when running in VR(HOPEFULLY thats completely fixed now?). -
It's just every time i read that sort of thing (and the rain complaints) it reeks of the thinking pattern "oh if there was no external cameras I'd be better than these external camera noobs" But the truth is - It would make no difference.

What is it with all you people who think you are the only one on the planet that drives in cockpit view?
-
I seem to be matching or beating my R5 class times set 4 months ago in New Zealand fine.
-
I'll be that guy again, but i disagree. presuming it's not that crazy graphical bug with the rain I've seen screenshots of before.

my MSI Armour 1070Ti gets to around 73C when playing and recording in VR on El Rodeo, I have overclocked it somewhat however to try to keep up with the demands of VR.
