    Glitched car - can't sell!

As the title implies. @Loore I've been getting a bit confused recently because every time I've attempted to do the Tuner racenet challenge my xbox has been crashing, and today I figured out why. My Mustang is somehow bugged - and I have proof that I've run into something of a problem. Every time I use this car - no matter what event - it crashes my xbox after the race. Furthermore, after attempting to sell the car, I discovered that I in fact cannot sell the car. Something weird is going on here. Video for proof of a weird thing going on - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5eq1c5EPdo&feature=youtu.be Hopefully someone can figure this out & fix it because basically now I have a busted/unusable car and one less garage slot. :/

    Fastest platform?

You say I'm wrong, but how am I wrong? Just because the USB poll speed on a PC is higher than on a console, that doesn't mean the game itself will respond that quickly. I play a lot of games on console and PC using the same controller, internet connection and monitor (I have both a 1ms GTG gaming monitor and a 32ms Samsung TV), and the response times are completely the same regardless of platform and excluding the latency caused by the display itself. You misread what I said, and are also not taking into account that the reasons that most Xbox 360 and PS3 controllers have lag are because the majority of them are wireless controllers running on an old wireless band (2.4Ghz I believe) and those wireless controllers do in fact have some latency. I in fact see a noticeable difference between using a wireless 360 pad and a wired 360 pad. It got to the point that playing Blur mandated a wired controller simply because it responded quicker. However, this latency is just in the connection between controller and console. As I said (and I know this for a fact because I have done some minor game development, as well as beta testing of several games) that the games generally do not read inputs on a per-poll basis but on a per-frame basis. This is usually I think to save on the amount of processing done by the game (from where it might otherwise be calculating responses to inputs that are completely unseen due to them happening over a series of frames that are never rendered), but what I said remains true; Grid, Grid 2 and GAS only poll the input when they update the visible rendered frames. It doesn't read the inputs at 500/1000 Hz but only at the frame rate and this does mean that a higher frame rate does lead to a higher response time in terms of controller input, but a copy of GAS running at 30fps on the PC will respond with identical latency to the console versions. Not to mention, that GAS and Grid 2 are the only games I know of that run at such a high physics speed (Trackmania runs at 300Hz for example, Forza I think runs at 400, I've played some games that ran at 100 or even at 30 (cough Blur)) and therefore the fact that an input device can theoretically output responses once every 1ms is irrelevant because the majority of other games don't even run at a high enough physics rate for them. There also wouldn't be such a big 'deal' over 72/120/144Hz monitors, as the main reason people buy them is for the -- surprise surprise --improved response speed in inputs in games, because the human eye physically can't perceive the difference at those sorts of refresh rates. If you don't believe me, you haven't played Head 2 Head or Touge online on a console on grid 2. the game stuttered like crazy for some reason at the starts of those races and my controller inputs always became sluggish. You should be thankful that games have moved from having 'locked' frame rates and don't go into slowdown when the frame rates drop, like they used to in the Golden Days. Besides, this whole argument is irrelevant to my original point - that the game's underlying physics engine is identical on all consoles and the only differences are in the responsiveness of the controls, and thus that people should be capable of identical times regardless of platform.

    Fastest platform?

The only difference that should be between the consoles and PC versions are the speed that the game accepts inputs (aka controller/wheel inputs) because usually those things are tied directly to the frame rate - i.e. at 30fps the game reads pad inputs 30 times a second, 60fps 60 times, etc. The key here is that the underlying physics is the same across each platform - 1000Hz in terms of physics speed, and the physics behave separately to the frame rate. Nascar probably ties the physics to the frame rate (as some games such as Blur did) but Grid doesn't. The only difference is that at a higher fps, controls are a bit more responsive. But, in the best-case scenario of same input device and same car/track, the times should be identical. That said - bugs on consoles mean that PC will be a -little- faster, because upgrades work properly - but that's just that.

Touring legend pack content ! Availiable 16/09/2014

Oh god, when I saw that Audi I had a nostalgiagasm. Is it 4WD like it was in the original Toca Touring Cars? (I don't actually know if it was 4WD in real-life in the real BTCC seasons those years or not) Looks a bit out-of-place to everything else though, being the only car that doesn't look like a shoebox :P but I won't complain.

If I remember, He was all high & mighty with text abuse on the steam forum "a la française" toward a group of people which resulted from a temporary ban. I don't think he got banned from VAC or from a proof of cheating. That name sounds mighty familiar though and makes me think "He deserved it." =/

    Bugatti car in Grid A.

I preferred the R8 and 722GT over the bugatti; at higher speeds they actually had better acceleration and the Bugatti was a bit slidey. the 722GT is slidey too but predictably so. Only reason the Audi wasn't higher-tier was because its handbrake is garbage compared to the other cars. I never saw anybody perform well in an F1 GT on 360 or a Zenvo. They were decent for drift events though.

    Bugatti car in Grid A.

I never lost to a Bugatti on Grid 2, ever. Tier list on Grid 2 was: Agera, Huayra, R8 LM, Bugatti, 722 GT, in my opinion. The Bugatti wasn't really a good car; I could beat it easily.
  9. The problem with that is people have been saying that used cars degrade the same way a new one does. If a used car with 7,000 miles degraded like new car did, it would fall apart before turn one. I say level just to be on the safe side, because, new or used, the cars level up the same. If you want to get technical, it would be mileage that you put on the car, not just total mileage.  This is apparently what it is. It's based on player-driven mileage. Like I said, I have cars with vastly different levels but similar driven distance and they degrade at the same rate.

    Class specific liveries.

The livery my racenet club has is good for race/time attack events as all the sponsors are race/distance-oriented. I've started making custom liveries just for drift events though, as there's a few drift sponsors that can easily net you 30-40K+ in a drift event if you stick them all on (there's one that gives $1,500 for a 400K drift which on Okutama can be done 15-25 times quite easily). I never really intend on repairing a drift car because it's probably irrelevant but that money is going to be useful for my (now old and weary) BMW touring car.
  11. Repair costs are based on distance driven, not level. I've got a level 50 car with as much mileage as a level 25 car (due to random stuff I've done), and both degrade at the same rate.

    GRID Autosport Feedback

Donington is in the touring cars DLC pack that Loore said is to release next week.
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNJKCTtbMq8#t=45 I've raced fantic.
  14. Upgrades don't work in public lobbies so no excuses.
  15. Yeah, I've noticed a few people who will take me as 'soft' because I attempt to avoid collisions and because I'll brake early when I'm on the inside because I know I won't get into the corner without hitting them and will take that as an excuse to assume I'm easy to pass. I'm easy to pass if I know I'm not entitled to the corner, lol, and then these people who take me as 'soft' get upset when the roles reverse, I take a corner because I'm ahead and on the outside, and they then end up using me as a wall around the corner. Some of the best races I've had have been ones where people have been cautious enough but thrown that one 'daring' move at a point where it's obvious enough to react to and nobody's been driven off a track by it. Had some good races with Blink yesterday. I need to get better at Bathurst, he kept losing better than I did!
  16. I haven't seen you on GAS yet. o_o I remember racing you on Grid 2 though... then again I rarely ever do custom cups because of those damn AI glitches / l-lap indy oval things.

AI cars just sitting at the start/finish line

I'm pretty sure I'm the one who's supposed to come last. :P Don't worry we can take it turns coming last or second to last. ;) I bet I can be the lastest last. :P

    Skyline or Sierra Cossie

I meant for the Skyline; changing the brake bias and differential might help it brake and corner a bit better since that's the main thing that separates it from the Cossie. I don't have either of them so I can only compare them as loan cars.
  20. TheKazzyMac

    Skyline or Sierra Cossie

But the Cossie excels on Indy due to being able to brake and carry its speed into the corners. Playing online against other people that's where I've lost my time against the cossie when using the skyline; corners that require a large amount of braking. Then again I was using the loan one and a bought one with the right setup (rear-biased brakes and an open diff?) will probably get into corners better than the stock one... I don't really have either of them.

Corrupt Save File / Console Patches

I was getting consistent podiums, but the last six/seven races were clear 15-20s+ wins with no challenge. Nobody complained, but I left on my own accord because winning so easily - even from first - is boring.
  22. TheKazzyMac

    Skyline or Sierra Cossie

Well, from personal experience the R32 is the easier and safer car to drive, it just sucks under braking. On tracks that don't require lots of braking (Okutama Sprint for example or maybe Sepang) then it's not a bad car. The Sierra excels because of its more versatile nature, and its advantage in being able to brake and corner better. It's squirrelly to drive though. It's the same reason why the Ford Ute is inferior to the Holden Ute. The Holden can brake and turn properly, the Ford refuses. I'm not against anyone using the Skyline but the Sierra in the right hands is going to 95% of the time be the fastest of the two. There will always be exceptions, I'm sure.

Corrupt Save File / Console Patches

And you'll get kicked anyway because people are wising up and starting to kick based on behaviour not impact rating/points. Last few days I've easily played to 4-500+ points in a lobby without a single complaint from anybody, no votekicks, whilst a few people that came in and got dirty were gone within two/three races. :x

    missing trophies and garage slot

You don't get the trophies for reaching level 10 online if you reach level 10 in a racenet challenge. This is a bug I experienced on 360 as well. You'll have to use an older save, or a new one, to level up again. If you do that make sure to back your proper save up so you can go back to it afterwards.
  25. At least CoD's DLC downloads. Amirite?
