Dirt Rally 2.0 is wonderful. Stop complaining!

What I still find very sketchy is that Codemasters never mentioned this Career-Online-Requirement before Release. And even sketchier that there is still no mentioning of this Requirement on the Steam Storepage. The least Codemasters could do is make the customer aware of this before purchasing the game. I said this once before (more as a joke back then), but with all these big and little quirks surfacing maybe Codemasters should really go down the Early Access-Route again for a potential follow-up. I´m pretty sure the game could only benefit from this on release at this point.

Remove Always Online for the Career!

Well, right now a couple of legit customers are still being punished by this thing. Your primary concern seem to be the pirates and what they can play; my primary concern is that LEGIT customers are being punished by this "Always Online-Stuff". Even if its only a couple of people, no one can guarantee that this can´t happen again; to anyone. I personally don´t care about pirates being able to play the Career. They´re not the main customers anyway and should NEVER have an impact on a games availability in Single Player.

Remove Always Online for the Career!

People with pirated copies won´t be able to play Online anyway; it´s about the Career being made available offline. Seems you don´t even get what the problem is. Cheated times or Anti-Piracy-Measures should never be more important than legit customers loosing their progress because Racenet has a hiccup. And I for one want this games Career guaranteed to work in some years time as well. An Always-Online-Single Player is absolutely NOT justifiable; no matter the reasons.

Remove Always Online for the Career!

What I ask myself: Are there different Leaderboards for the Career and Time Trial ? Because the justification for implementing this crappy Always-Online-Requirement in the Career-Mode was to "fight cheated times". But you can upload your times to a Leaderboard in Time Trial as well; which can be played offline. It would be pretty strange to implement this Online-Requirement to fight cheaters, but at the same time allow people to upload their times via Time Trial to the same Leaderboard.

From what I´ve seen and read you can make the game less blurry on PC if you turn off TAA; as with FXAA it somewhat makes the whole visuals look blurrier. But of course that´s no solution on consoles. As someone who is mainly a PC-Player, but has always owned consoles as well (for the great exclusives) I have always been for more options on consoles as well. At least some games let you disable Motion Blur, Chromatic Aberration etc. on console and let you change the FOV nowadays.

Remove Always Online for the Career!

As far as I can see there is absolutely NO mentioning of the Online-Requirement for the Single Player-Career on the Steam Storepage for Dirt Rally 2.0. In my opinion Codemasters should at least let the customers know what is going on with the game. Can´t expect every customer to read through Forums and Message Boards; especially because as far as I know no other Codemasters Game handled stuff in this (imo crappy) way.

I REALLY hope DR 2.0 does well for Codemasters, so we can get more and even better more serious Rally-games. It´s just that there are some things that seem to overshadow an otherwise great game (Always Online, the staggered Release, the Logitech Wheel Problems that are still in DR2.0, Online Races with the AI instead of other players etc.) With some of these things I really shake my head and think who comes up with stuff like this and REALLY thinks it is a good idea. Maybe Codemasters should go the Early Access-Route again for Dirt Rally 3..............

I don´t see this guy moaning for the sake of moaning, but giving constructive feedback. And this feedback is important, or else things won´t improve. Not every criticism is meant to be hostile; and if through feedback like this the tarmac-physics do improve (maybe in this game, maybe in the next) then it will be something you will benefit from as well.

Ok, then I postpone my purchase until this gets fixed (if it will). I was REALLY looking forward to DR 2.0, as DR1 was responsible for once again buying a wheel and H-Shifter. But first the shenanigans with the staggered release, which made me feel like a 2nd-class customer for NOT wanting to buy the premium package (and I NEVER want to feel like a 2nd-class customer when I purchase a product). Then no Snow-Rally in the base game; but only as DLC, and then the one we already had in part 1 (but that was not THAT huge a deal, knowing that a more Hardcore-take on a Rally-Game is pretty niche and doesn´t have the same budget as for example the yearly reiteration of the F1-Games). And NOW an always-online requirement for the career. For me it´s NOT about the connection per se, but I don´t want to worry if I can still play the career in the future if Codemasters decides to pull the plug; and to be honest I don´t want to rely on any Publisher/Developer to offer a patch at that point. I know you are not personally responsible for these things and are merely a massenger of these (bad) news. But to the people who ARE responsible for these kinds of decisions I can just shake my head......Would it have been REALLY too much to ask to implement an offline mode, where my Single Player-Career-Data is stored on my PC, but can´t upload any results to the Leaderboards ? Especially when you are the type of player who couldn´t care less about the Online-stuff, and only wanted a SP-Rally-Career against the AI; and NOT compete with other people.
