I just thought of something else I'd like to see in the next Dirt Rally title.

What do you think of having the option to drive from the entrance of the service park to your tent and park the car on the blocks?
And then also being able to drive out of the service park.

What about being able to drive on the podium?

And finally, driving from stage to stage on the public roads would be awesome as well!
You know, something along the lines of driving on the public roads like you do in Euro or American Truck Simulator.

That last one might be a bit of a stretch but the first two shouldn't be too hard to implement, right?

    So much this!

This idea has been around my head for quite a long time, like the whole idea. Even having to take into account the hours of the time controls. Yeah, I know, too much asking probably but still... (well, we have online rallys on that other sim, and we can have things like these, so it is a fix).

Pirelli is the supplier for at least WRC and R5 cars in the championship since this year.
I read that just a few days ago somewhere.

Don't think so. It's an ARA event so I don't think that rule applies here (in fact, ARA has a partnership with Cooper and Hoosier tires, so I don't think they are enforcing competitors to use Pirelli)

My best bet is that since it is a McKenna car, and Barry has been running the Fabia on Pirellis, Block just sticked to them (or maybe Toyo doesn't have a tire fit for the Fabia, something I doubt)

Wait what? Did I miss something somewhere?

Is there a "3" somewhere on the livery of Jon's new car or what?

@JorritVD Explain yourself! WHAT IS IT!

Nah, people doing theories like if this was an MCU movie 🤣

Hi guys! I'm in need of some help. I'm trying to make a livery for the Golf Kit Car, so I'm using the Peugeot 208 R2 as the "donor" car to show the livery. But it id giving me a headache. After replacing everything in nef file, I go to choose the car and a stage, and it goes into infinite loading the stage. I realized I had to put also a 202 folder with the livery, as if I was putting a moded livery on a car from the base game, but now the game crashes as it starts to load the stage... Any advice you could give? May it be because I'm putting the moded livery both in the nef file and the separate folder?

Any heads-up guys? Still can't load any stage when I try to put the Golf modded livery throught the 208 R2

I do understand the reason why they did it, yet I don't understand why they executed it this way.

As far as I can figure out, this is how it works:

In order to design liveries, a person would need to access to the complete car files. You can only access those files if you have bought and installed the game. That's why we can access and design liveries for the cars that are available in the base game. The DLC cars on the other hand are added content you need to pay extra for afterwards. However, the files for those cars are in the game files but are locked until you bought the content itself. Only then you can drive them in the game.

Now, to protect the content, more specifically the revenue from that content, they kept the files encrypted so that the content couldn't be released freely to the public by modders. It all comes back to money/revenue. They could've, and actually should've in my opinion, encrypted most of the files (e.g. physics, audio etc. we as livery designers don't need) but not the car textures which designers do need. I'm thinking of the main_d, main_s, glass_d, glass_s and wheel_d files. Those are pretty much the only files a livery designer would need.

If I understood it correctly, the topic was discussed after designers complained about the encryption but eventually it was decided that changing it wasn't worth the time and effort. I don't believe it would've been a major work but still, I don't make the decisions. It was said that the devs would keep this in mind for future titles, something we've heard before, so hopefully they finally address this issue during the development process of Dirt Rally 3.

@PJTierney, let me know if I'm close with my reasoning or not. And more importantly, if the issue is indeed being addressed in the development process of DIrt Rally 3, a title which is 99% confirmed.

Yeah, I understand it like you do, and I think that they should have let the livery texture files unnecrypted.

The sad trUe is the encryption didn't accomplish its goal, because the DLC cars have already been ported to other games (like Assetto), yet we still can't do livery mods on DLC cars "easily" (this is, without the need to change the .nefs files)

  7. 've been thinking recently. What if Shell and Ford had sticked toghether on the British Rally Championship, with a fully sponsored car, like the Black Beauty Mk2 Escort? So I created it.1628994442_FordEscortCosworth(GwyndafEvans-RallyElCorteIngles1994)(1).thumb.jpg.bd1d458bdbe01adb925ebf69245b6c31.jpg

This Escort Cosworth would be based on the 1994 edition of the British Rally Championship, driven by Gwyndaf Evans and Howard Davies, to be more precise, on the Stena Sealink Ulster Rally from that year. And then, I decided to make a version based on the Rally El Corte Ingles, for a possible European Rally Championship participation from the Shell team.

    @PJTierney

cannot access the 2000cc class cars in career mode/community events. This is despite the fact that I own all of them (have bought seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4).

Literally the only car that is showing up is the new Impreza 22b. the other cars don't appear at all.

Someone else on Facebook reported the same thing.

This is for the current (at time of writing) daily community event in Australia. I only have the Impreza selectable.

All cars still available in time trial etc.

    PS4 (Pro), US PSN store.

The same and for me. PS4

Guys, it is because the Daily Community event of Australia is just for the Impreza S4 WRC, not the whole 2000cc class. It is not a bug

100% sure its going to be the introduction of road sections, where you get massively frustrated sat behind tractors trying to get to SS1 which is 80 miles away from service.

I mean, I would love little road sections in which you have to manage the time left to get to the SS and don't get catch by the cops doing so 😂

Watched some highlights videos from back in the day and Tiff Needell refers to it as the Formula 2 class so can only imagine it's that.

Completely forgot they called it Formula 2!! You are completely right.

if anyone wants a bit of basic history: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIA_2-Litre_World_Rally_Cup

In my opinion, FIA 2-Litre World Rally Cup just refers to the championship's name, like World Rally Championship, whilst F2 is the name of the category, like World Rally Car.

I mean, F2 category is based upon the A7 category, 2.0L engines and FWD, then, there is F3, based on the A6 category, which fits for 1.6L FWD cars like the Saxo Kit Car, 106 Maxi, but I think also the Micra (which is, if memory doesn't fail, an A5 category car).

Sorry for multiquoting, it's just that I like this kind of talks, like a lot.
