    CODEMASTERS you are alone.

You can buy Autosport for XB1 as part of backwards compatibility and although it's only an X360 game it still looks ok and plays really well. On a good day you can pick up a physical copy for less than a fiver so no need to worry about ยฃ55 (and ยฃ75 deluxe edition) reboots on our console

The only thing Codemasters are going to order from Evo Studios members is a Big Mac and fries because that's where they all work now ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

I was just talking about the franchise unit sales as a whole. https://www.gamewatcher.com/news/2011-23-03-operation-flashpoint-franchise-shifted-more-than-3-5m-copies Yeah, I was aware of Overlord as well as those arcade spin offs ("pretty much everything") and the F1 licence ("more effort into...") stuff but from my vague recollection of the game, F1 2012 was a real step up in quality - and coincidentally it remains the only F1 game I have ever purchased at full price. Hmm, I thought Codemasters Racing was a brand name that was still used but hey, you live and learn.

As of 2011 the franchise had sold "in excess of 3.5m units" (ยฉ the internet ) so not to shabby a return on a supposedly deeply unpopular game that spent most of it's early life as a PC exclusive at a time when the market was awash with similar games and it's latter life trying to compete in the shadow of some very, very high budget big hitters. My theory is that the studio shut not because of financial hardship but because where FPS / TPS are concerned you simply cannot compete with organisations who have the capability to burn $50m on development budgets, so the relative security of racing games and a little more effort with a dubious F1 licence (that not even Sony wanted to keep) might have been their only way forward... Or it might indeed have been just be a huge coincidence that Codemasters Racing was conceived a few months later (in 2012) and pretty much everything Codemasters have done ever since has been racing games.. Oh, (cough) and Onrush.

With the difference being that despite the negativity those Op Flashpoint games received they were still incredibly popular and (probably) sold squillions of units. It's not about one game getting more negative feedback than another one (because if that were the case then the likes of FIFA, COD, Battlefield and all those scummy microtransaction obsessed games would be long gone by now), it's all about how that negativity affects the overall outcome of the game in question.

    My Grid Season 3 Review

Phew... For a mad minute I thought the worst. (ps) "if that means..." Isn't jumping to a conclusion - it's a supposition (a hypothesis based on an inconclusive statement).

    My Grid Season 3 Review

"pick up the game"? If that means "purchase the game" then how on earth can you justify coming on these forums to openly defend a game you don't even own! Worse still, you've even found time to criticise those who actually own the game and happen to speak negatively about it. Wow, words fail me...

    CODEMASTERS you are alone.

Tell me, if new Grid would have been released with a sensible price tag and ALL it's current content available at launch, complete with a proper structured championship (like F1) for the various classes and a similarly structured multiplayer setup do you think it would have been a suitable replacement for old Grid? The one thing Grid 2019 gets absolutely right is the fact it feels like a Grid game and with a little more emphasis on structured racing my personal feeling is that it would have been good enough.

    CODEMASTERS you are alone.

But are they really any good second time around? I was kind of looking forward to COD:MW remastered but after playing it for a little while it simply reminded me of an old game that used to be good and has since been bettered by other games that given a choice I would prefer to be playing. Same applies for Grid. I gave it a mini reboot on xbox 360 and much as I really enjoyed it first time around it didn't take too long to realise that it plays nowhere near as well as, say, a (long) Touring Cars championship in Project Cars 2 or has content to rival pretty much any current racing game out there. Old Grid should remain just that - old. ....and Tomb Raider should have died the same death as Core design did.... Talk about milking every last penny out of a franchise

GRID Season 3 - Coming this month

I didn't say there was anything wrong with the handling/physics of Wreckfest, I was just pointing out that Bugbear have turned the game into something completely different from how it was in early access. My recollection of day one Wreckfest on consoles was that of vehicles that jumped like they were Moto GP bikes and handled flawlessly in all terrains. Admittedly, after rebooting it over the weekend things have changed dramatically and vehicles do feel much more grounded (handling is much more reminiscent of Flatout UC) but you know, the fact remains that arcade racers are ten a penny and sim racing is (with the possible exception of Dakar) exclusively '0-60 in 4 seconds' stuff so it would have been nice if Bugbear would have stuck to plan A and thrown a little variety in the mix.

    GRID Season 3 - Arriving April 15th

Credits balancing and.....? Not exactly what you would call "substantial changes", is it?

GRID Season 3 - Coming this month

The original pre-console physics were really good but for some reason Bugbear decided to tamper with the weight/handling of vehicles somewhere around the launch of the game onto consoles, presumably to dumb it down for casual audience appeal. The overall arcade feel still works pretty well but if I personally had the choice i'd sooner the game resorted back to the much earlier sim-esque days (when Bugbear didn't quite know which way this game was heading) because although there's nothing wrong with the way things have turned out it would still have been nice to have maintained some of the semi-realism of derby racing that the (very) early access game had. Besides which, we already have more than enough arcade racing games.

Yeah, not quite sure where he was going wrong but It is exactly as you said. What's the possibility of Codemasters increasing the number of rounds per championship beyond 5?

GRID Season 3 - Coming this month

I disagree...I'm a standard edition owner with zero intention of upgrading and i'm going to get another circuit that's hidden away in freeplay and a few cars that i'll probably never use so my excitement levels are off the scale ๐Ÿ˜‹ The sad irony of this whole Grid thing is that I finally got round to playing it with my G920 and aside from a distinct lack of FFB from the track surface and kerbs it actually feels & plays really well. There ya go, finally a positive within the plethora of negative feelings. A point that also brings up a random question. Is it possible to create a playlist in a private lobby to (example) race a set number of user selected circuits as a points scoring championship? We wanted to include Paris within a street series but the host said he couldn't do it.

GRID Season 3 - Coming this month

My guess is driving down Hollywood Boulevard 'as seen thru the eyes of Lindsay Lohan when nipping out to the off licence for more supplies in a 1996 Austin Metro, with Bradley Cooper sat in the passenger seat making the noise of a Veyron'. Either that or Codemasters have hidden the dubious LOD and visual issues behind some seriously hardcore motion blur
  19. I wouldn't do anything too drastic at the minute because I think it may be an XBL thing. On each of the previous three occasions i've launched DR2 since the last content update it has insisted on 'getting my game ready' (for first play) and then telling me I have random missing content after the data sync, with the only workaround being to manually uninstall all DLC, restart the console (the only way to make the content reappear under the "ready to install" tab) and just reinstall the whole job lot each time you want to play it. Normally I would say it's a Dirt Rally issue but the same is happening to me with the collector's edition content in TSW 2020 so it could even be something to do with Gamepass not recognising you own the game and throwing a mini wobble.

The problem with Autosport was it's timing of release and the fact Codemasters decided it wasn't financially viable to port it to XB1 and PS4, so it kind of got overlooked when everyone upgraded to the newer consoles. If it was good enough to generate 1m unit sales on previous gen consoles then it does kind of make you wonder how well it would have done if Codemasters had decided to take the plunge and upgrade it for the newer consoles as well. You never know, we might now be talking about how great Grid 5 (or even Grid 6) is instead of lamenting over the half-hearted game we ended up with after six years of waiting. Anyhows, i'm now bringing this whole Grid thing to an end and moving onwards and upwards to better things (and judging by forum activity it looks like i'm not alone in my decision) so, in the words of Delboy, it's "bonjour" from me.... Happy gaming and stay well.

    Manage your expectations ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿšฅ

I couldn't agree more and when you consider that there were ZERO high profile racing games planned for the latter half of (or even the whole of) 2019 I still can't for the life of me fathom out why Codemasters didn't exploit that fact by going all out to fill that void with a truly exceptional product instead of doing things on the cheap to hopefully make a quick buck. But hey, with ACC imminent and probably a shiny new Forza to look forward to at least nobody has to worry when Codemasters slice Project Cars 3 into tiny little DLC seasons to maximise revenue because 2020 is going to bring considerably more choice to the table.

    Manage your expectations ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿšฅ

I think it's more than apparant now that Grid was more than likely a project to fund other projects. Minimal budget, minimal content, high pricing and run it to it's conclusion with bare minimum updates. But on a positive note everyone can greet the next Codemasters game with a much lower level of expectation and at least that way they won't be disappointed with what they get. It matters little to me because after the uber-expensive pricing policy of DR2 and the the way in which Grid was handled there's no incentive to support a company who no longer have the gamer's best interests at heart. Besides which, if Project Cars 3 happens to be the next game then the decision to abstain will be made all the more easier because I have absolutely no desire to purchase anything with Ian Bell's name attached to it. "forgive and forget"...not a prayer.
  23. "Moreover, with the resource budget available, our focus was on new content and the more important visual features, like your car, rival cars, track surface detail and other on-track features, as well as improved lighting, reflections, weather conditions..." ^ ^ When are you planning on releasing this game? ^ ^ ๐Ÿ˜‹
  24. The trees in Australia aren't "whizzing past at 180+ mph". The low lighting draw distances aren't "whizzing past at 180+ mph"...They are present and in full view on the near horizon - all of the time. And how comes Havana, a location rich in features and detail is an absolute mile away from Sydney (a track that is essentially a field with a scattering of 'trees') in terms of visual quality?
  25. Maybe not... But you can't help but feel his comments are heavily influenced by the "moderator" tag against his name and arguing against the clear, obvious and undeniable shortcomings that have been discussed many times over within this (and the previously deleted) thread since way, way before Grid was released doesn't really come across as unbiased opinion, does it? Everything Jesped has ever written has been backed up with tangible evidence as to why he wrote it so at the very least you have to show a certain degree of consideration towards his comments and on the face of things that seems to be something which up100 (and another 'pro Grid' person who will remain nameless) seem to find very difficult to do. Something which in turn gives all the more reason to question which side of the fence he is actually sitting on. Look, no matter who you are or who you think you are, differences of opinion are fine but arguing for argument's sake or arguing with rose tinted spectacles is just pointless....especially in here! Maybe up100 & co should recognise that fact by standing down and letting the thread continue doing what it set out to do. Oops, back on topic...the trees look rubbish ๐Ÿ™‚
