    FFB - thoughts and impressions

I had no idea CM bought SMS until now, so I googled it. Looks like they announced 22 days ago, they might need a little more time than that to compare notes and implement a change, just sayin.

nice feedback but this also kinda highlights why we are finding it hard to agree on the handling at the moment.tarmac is generally great gravel generally isnt perfect.who is right wrong who knows ? :D This calls for an Epic Rap Battle, Dirt Rally physics against Dirt 4. Who wins? YOU DECIDE! There is so much hate,  But I can feel cars weight,  And suspension now takes the load, Of those bumps in the road, DiRT Rally laid fresh physics down,  But now DiRT 4 takes the crown. Dirt Rally has the 208, Dirt4 can make you go straight, YourStage is the new kid in town, Sometimes those stages make you frown, Bears, Birds and Deer, Common get along and we go grab some beer, Totally crap at this... :D

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

So assuming you've had a mail saying you've been sent it you can find it in the recieved tab when you select load Stage.  You need to have selected the same country as the stage you have been sent before it becomes visible in your list.  Yes that's correct, it's a stage in Wales and when I go to free play, select Wales then load stage the only 2 tabs showing are career and the my saved stages. Which it doesn't show up under either one of those tabs.     I also don't see how you share them. I got to be missing something cause he was able to send it.  So I should have a received tab along with my career and saved stages, I also assume that when I hit X for options on a saved stage/championship there should be and option to share. I don't have either one of those. I'll take a few pictures tonight and clear my cache and try it again. If that don't work I try and reinstall it and if that don't work I'll repost it in the Found Bug forum, Thank you for your reply and help. HOW TO LOAD, PLAY AND SAVE A SHARED STAGE: ·         Select Event > Freeplay > Rally (or Historic Rally). ·         Then on the Freeplay Championship screen select the ADD EVENT tile (it’ll already be highlighted by default). ·         Then on the Location screen, select the location of the Stage that has been shared e.g. Wales. ·         Then on the Event Configuration screen on the ADD STAGE tile (it’ll already be highlighted by default) use the MORE OPTIONS menu and select the LOAD STAGE option. ·         Then on the Load Stage screen you’ll see 4 tabs – Career Stages, My Stages, Stage History and Received. ·         Navigate across to the Received tab and in this tab you should see any Stage shared to you via the Mailbox (it’s filtered by location). ·         Pres SELECT on the Stage you wish to load and you’ll be returned to the Event Configuration screen. ·         From here you can either use the MORE OPTIONS menu again and select the SAVE STAGE option in order to save it to MY STAGES (Select the SAVE STAGE row on that screen) OR just select the CONFIRM option on the Event Configuration screen and then START on the Freeplay Championship screen to give the shared Stage a test run before you commit to saving it to MY STAGES. ·         If you do like the Stage that has been shared you can just select the SAVE TO MY STAGES option on the Results screen after completing the Stage. HOW TO SHARE A SAVED STAGE: ·         Select Event > Freeplay > Rally (or Historic Rally). ·         Then on the Freeplay Championship screen select the ADD EVENT tile (it’ll already be highlighted by default). ·         Then on the Location screen, select the location of the Stage that you wish to share e.g. a stage from Wales. ·         Navigate across to the My Stages tab and in this tab you should see any Stages that you can share to Friends via the Mailbox (it’s filtered by location). You can only Share stages from the My Stages tab (either via the Load Stage or Save Stage screen). ·         Highlight the Stage that you wish to share, use the MORE OPTIONS menu on it and select the SHARE option. ·         On the Share My Stage screen select the Friend(s) you wish to share the Stage with and then select the CONFIRM button. Hope that helps I would love to do that if those options were available to me, but they are not I only have 2 tabs career and my stages and only 2 options rename and delete. When I get home from work I will try it again and maybe if I clear my cache and restart the game it they might show up , Thanks again for your help. Take a screenshot of it or record a game clip if you can.  I will, Thanks you guys are the best in gaming when it comes to customer relations.  Well I don't know what changed last night there was only 2 tabs on Wales, today there is 4 just like you said. I'm sorry I wasted your time but thank very much for taking the time to help me.  For or the record I was in free play and in Wales last night I tried 3 times and it always showed 2 tabs.

I hope it's ok to ask here as I didn't want to create a thread just for this. A friend on my fl sent me a stage on wales to try so I went to free play to try it , but how do you load it. I went into load event and it doesn't show up, is this a bug or am I missing something?

They don't have the optimization skill that Codies have. Imo, Codies are one of the best, making the games run very smooth. Goes to show that with some effort, you can get a beautiful looking game that runs great. Witcher 3 is another one that got it right. All racing games should target 60fps, 30fps on a racing sim is just nasty if you want to make those reactive movements Yeah, I played forza horizon loads when it first came out, when I eventually put dirt rally back into my Xbox after a couple of weeks, I could not believe the difference between 30fps and 60! It was mad how much smoother dirt looked. I'd never really thought or cared about it before then as it's probably the first racing game I've had that runs that smoothly. Also, the unveiling of project Scorpio earlier has got me very interested, although I have no idea what all those numbers mean (other than they they're higher than the standard Xbox and the PS4 pro) I have a hard time playing any other racing game since I started playing DR, I can't wait for D4.

I looked at the tuning menus closely and they are a big improvement imo. Organised way better with the tabs at the top plus its broken up much better than Dirt Rally, for intance, all suspension is on the one page (front and rear) instead of having to switch back and forth you simply have every thing in front of you which makes it easier and much quicker to do setups! Plus having the proper values for each item helps too. Also the diagrams for each part are way better and easier to understand at a glance, especially things like camber and tow and I love how it shows the bottom of the car and highlights the different differentials when you switch between them. A definite step forward for this part of the game, anyone who's ever spent time doing settups in Dirt Rally is really going to appreciate all this. Cheers Codies! Totally agree everything looks to be a step up from DR BTW thanks to all of you guys posting the videos & interviews makes great collection of info here.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Yup, first let me caveat this with the fact that I'm not a huge fan of pre-order incentives but there are a few things to consider. 1) Those that pre-order a game pay a premium to do so. That's not to say that they pay more than list price but games do drop in price after launch and so it is important for publishers to incentivise people to pay the full RRP as much as possible.  2) It is also important for the publisher to get their pre-order numbers as high as possible as it helps build confidence with retailers which in turn means that the game gets more marketing and therefore exposure. 3) Some platform holders enforce publishers to make Pre-Order content available a set time after launch. Yes, there will be some discussion over pricing or whether it will be free but the content will almost certainly become available.  4) Considering points 1and 2, by the time that the pre-order car becomes available, its cost (if it has one) combined with the cost of buying the game at that point, are likely to be less (perhaps considerably less) than what the pre-order version will have cost.  5) I might get in trouble for saying this last point but here we go. Our publishers asked us to give them a car that they could use for Pre-Orders. Rather than taking a car from our existing list we pushed to get a new car added and that was the Hyundai. The Hyundai was not going to be in the game until Koch pushed us to add it, so it really is a bonus car and is the fourth R5 car.  I get that people don't like it and as a consumer I sit firmly in that camp too but I hope this goes some way to explaining some of the reasons for it.  What a great explanation, I applaud you for how genuine and honest you are. This why you and your team make such great games.

So the handbrake can be plugged in to usb and doesn't need to be plugged into wheel base. Nice job on your handbrake looks good and the price is right  :# Yes it has a arduino leonardo controlling it, which is overkill for the job but it was the only one i had at the time with built in HID, it uses a hall censor and a magnet to get analog feedback and a strong spring for tension, and yes it has its own usb cable, i have thought about making a metal one to replace it, but it works so well its very low on my list of priorities Thanks for the info and the education on the hall sensor & magnet. I wasn't sure how that work either.

That's too much. Flagging abuse!! ^^ I've got the rubber trick on my gearshift and it's a handbrake while paddles are used for gearshifting. If I'm playing H-shift setup the left paddle becomes handbrake just like someone else is doing above.  Mines set up the same way I have 2 TH8A  shifter's, one is just for the handbrake with the rubberband trick.  I'm saving up to build a PC so for those of you on PC can you use a stand alone handbrake plugged into a usb for Dirt Rally ?
