Britpoint said:Nico beating Lewis in Brazil was probably the best thing for the championship, because it makes a result only won by double points much less likely
Well, without double points Lewis would only need to finish 6th. Now he has to finish 2nd at worst if Nico wins.
This last race is all about double points. Why am I not surprised they had to implement this dumbass rule when a few months later Lewis is on the verge of winning another WDC...

We gonna have to agree to disagree.Chadwick8505 said:
But that's racing. If you fall out of races due to the car and another driver capitalizes on those, these results are going to happen. That doesn't make Nico any less of a world champion at the end of the day. It doesn't matter who deserves it more because you don't score points on whether or not you deserved it in any sport... Ever.GoldenColt said:
Bit then there's the fact that Lewis has had more unforced troubles in quali and the races aswell. 3 vs 2 DNF's, 2 vs 0 times when he had to start from the very back.Chadwick8505 said:Really double points won't change entirely too much now if Hamilton retires in Abu Dhabi. Because if Hamilton retires and Rosberg finishes either first or second he would have won the WDC with or without double points. Granted double points does come into play for other reason. But regardless Lewis wouldn't have been WDC a today with or without double points.
No matter what happens, Lewis Hamilton is the only deserving WDC 2014 in my opinion ( I know that this counts for nothing). If you win 10 races in one season and come back from all the crap that happened to you, you have earned the title.
Imo, it makes Nico a much less deserving champion. I know it doesn't matter as for points tho, that's for sure.

Fair play, as long as you stick to that.VetteIfan said:Pretty sure I addresses the avatar issue in the US GP thread. Nothing is happening "pronto". Nothing's happening until the season ends :p
In fact I said in my initial post back whenever it was that I'd upload it for "the whole of next season", which means I shouldn't have to upload it till March. But I get the feeling that would upset people, so I'll settle on end of this season.
Quoted to have substantial evidence. Not that I hadn't made a screenshot from your first promise and copied it on every external HDD I've got (and the one in my actual notebook). ;)

I'd enjoy watching the forums, Twitter and Reddit meltdown. I'm sadistic like that.

Maybe even the FIA-gala.

.... meaning you Sir need to change your avatar pronto. And it better be one with Hamilton only, so you can't semi-cheat your way out of it by including another driver (preferably Vettel). :PVetteIfan said:Anyway, back to today, interesting fact of the day - today Vettel was officially beaten by Ricciardo this season, meaning Bottas is now the only multi-year driver who's never been beaten by a teammate.

Anything can happen for Lewis, SC at the wrong time, wrong strategy, mistake and that "easy" P2 is out of reach.
These next two weeks will cost me 5 years of my lifetime. I should've started smoking instead of supporting Hamilton, would've been more healthy.

Sport Bild is usually well informed, so I guess it's done.
About time.

Rossi was simply better than Lorenzo this season, so fully deserves to finish ahead of him in the standings.
After 2013, I never thought Vale would be able to come back like this anymore. Amazing, considering his age. He seems to have re-invented himself over the winter.

Well, that's one step closer to the end of F1.
Too many old-fashioned people with too much greed is never a good recipe for a successful product.

Considering both McLaren's lapped the rest of the grid (maybe except for Schumi) that race, not surprising. :pSkiddyboy13 said:

Haha, well spotted. I'm actually quite intrigued now to know if anyone's ever done it. The closest Vettel got last year was India, where he topped every session except Q1. I'm thinking him or Schumacher are the most likely to have achieved it. Maybe even Button in his 2009 season.Skiddyboy13 said:

That's a bit of a cheap argument Seb regarding wonderful charities. There are way bigger and less deserving flows of money within F1 that could be instead used for more important purposes. Like who says drivers really need to earn 20+ M per season (I'm saying that, knowing that Lewis gets paid just as much too), or why does Ferrari need to get an extra amount of money every year just because of being Ferrari?
Compared to this, the money Caterham are hoping for can only be considered as peanuts. And: There is no pressure on those paying, because Caterham are just hoping to get money. There is no contract saying that people need to spend money on Caterham.
If you tell Ferrari to eff off regarding their extra-money or if you tell a driver like Hamilton, Alonso to settle for 10 M, things are going to get nasty, so the amount of pressure is very high in this respect.

I don't understand why some of you think it's embarassing. Surely, fighting with all means and trying everything is way less embarassing than to surrender at first chance.
Kudos to Caterham. I hope they'll make it, even though I doubt it would change much about their prospect of taking part in F1 in 2015.
-
Didn't Lewis also manage to do that in Hungary 2012?
EDIT: Nope, he only lost out to Webber in P3, otherwise he was on top in every single session.
