esports DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series - 2020 Season
PJTierney replied to PJTierney's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
It was discussed back during 2019 Season. There are a few reasons for why it was not done (all reasonable, but not worth going into here), but one I would like point out is that every track limit update requires: A full redownload of a Location's assets (usually 10+ GB per location) A total wipe of over a year's worth of Leaderboards AI rebalancing Those changes impact all players, and given how much criticism we get from the side of the game and updates to begin with, clearing up all cuttable areas and forcing a 100 GB update on all players (whether they are into esports or not) does more harm than good. The compromise for 2020 season was to avoid Locations with excessive cuts, like Poland. All that being said, the design team as been taking a closer look at things like this and for future titles is considering how best to solve it. There are multiple theoretical solutions I can think of (more barriers, more reset areas, "sticky grass" etc.), but i guess we'll have to wait and see 🙂 The World Series car should in theory be the same as stock in Time Trial. At the very least, it's the same as stock in Custom. Could be that it's on Medium tyres 🤔 -
Airtime/Drift/Two Wheel Milestones & Non-Unlockable Liveries
PJTierney replied to GTPLeGeNd1's topic in General Discussion
I can't remember deliberately going out to get Two-Wheels, it just sort of happens sometimes 😄 Start/Finish straight of Sydney Motorsport Park is a good should though, especially in Reverse. There's a bit of a hill on pit exit that you can put the side of the car on. -
Developers read this forum (and thread) 🙂

Fanatec WRC Elite wheel not working on Dirt Rally 2.0 PS4
PJTierney replied to SilentRage47's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0 Support
It is currently not planned I'm afraid, as we're nearing end of updates for the title as a whole and it's too late to add it to v1.16. I'll keep an ear out though, and if that changes will share an update. -
Dirt Rally 2.0 Server Connection issues on Xbox Game Pass
PJTierney replied to Tantalord's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0 Support
Server isn't down, otherwise the pinned thread wold be on fire right now 🙂 Not sure specifically what's happening here though. Just to check, is this Xbox Game Pass on console or PC? -
Fanatec WRC Elite wheel not working on Dirt Rally 2.0 PS4
PJTierney replied to SilentRage47's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0 Support
Hi there, Checked in with our inputs specialist who has looked into it and here's our findings: DiRT Rally 2.0 handles wheels differently to previous DiRT games, in that it detects the rim and the base as separate units. As the Fanatec WRC Elite wheel is brand-new, we do not have an input map stored in the game (ie, no default button layout). Here's what we'd recommend you do: Have a controller and a wheel (+rim) plugged in at the same time. With the controller, navigate to the Inputs menu and scroll down to your wheel. Select the wheel and head to where you can assign buttons. You should (hopefully) be able to assign your buttons and pedals from there. You might end up having to navigate menus in the game with a controller, but if this works you would still be able to drive with the wheel. -
Wales, Scotland and Finland I believe.

That scanner's making the face I did when I saw this rig:

I grabbed a screenshot of real footage online (and of F1 2010) and put it into Streamlabs OBS at 50% opacity. Next, I send my gameplay feed into the software too. When I'm setting the camera up I look at the capture software and not my TV/monitor 🙂

Speaking of, I made a video last week:

@tbtstt I might share a few of these on a blog at some point. You cool with that? I'll leave the watermark on so they're credited. -

I believe there are no do-overs, so a technical issue counts as a retirement 😞 -
Gossip thread is still relatively active, but DiRT Rally 2.0's pretty much "complete" as a game now, so not a lot of news outside of esports. Also, the world and gaming communities are moving away from forums and onto places like Discord more anyway. I like the structure of forums but the live aspect of Discord is good too.

Yup. Some parts of that community can't define the word simulator, but they can certainly point out when something isn't one in their view 😄

While a portion of the audience is unhappy it's not another Rally game, the communication when DIRT 5 was announced seems to have eased those concerns, as the existence of DIRT 5 doesn't mean the death of Rally. DIRT 5 is fun and different, but the Rally team will return and what they're working on will be worth the wait 😉 The Rally team and the "5 team" are two separate Codemasters studios. This won't affect the Ford Fiesta R5 MKII's addition to DiRT Rally 2.0 at all (work on the car is pretty much complete, we're just doing the final things before it gets locked into the next update).

When you realise you predicted the Italian Grand Prix's Top 2 a fortnight ago

No Season 5. GOTY contains everything (except for the Ford Fiesta MK II, which is currently an esports reward but will be unlocked for all players in early 2021).

The Rivals and Scheduled Events are new, as well as the Career. Gamepad handling is also overhauled. I never played the first 2 games, and with no Forza out this year Project CARS 3 is a decent enough alternative for me. I mainly play Multiplayer and a 3 year-old game is usually dead (Forza Motorsport 7 isn't filling lobbies like it used to either).

WRC is back 🙂 -
Side-note, I am enjoying Project CARS 3. It's a bit rough around the edges but the on-track experience has been fun; feels good on my wheel.
