DIRT 5 won't have "general discussion" on the forum, it's all on Discord. Since that means there's no general place to discuss the game on the forums, people are making threads here. Therefore, I consolidated it all into this thread so that it doesn't clutter the DR2 forums.

DR2.0 does not support your currently active headset
PJTierney replied to somethingthing's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0 Support
I see a ticket regarding headset compatibility error messages, so presumably yes. When I have something I can share, I will do so. -

None that I am aware of. -
My definition: Can you play it in an arcade? For most racing games these days, that's a hard no. Sim, "SimCade" (ugh, hate that word) and Arcade are fuzzy subjective definitions, and won't be resolved on this forum. This argument over semantics has gone on long enough I feel.

bug reports DiRT Rally 2.0 - Version 1.14 Bug Reports
PJTierney replied to PJTierney's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0 Support
Hey there. Turns out this was investigated quite a while back and as you rightly imply it's a tricky one to diagnose. The end result after much investigation is that because of the random nature of this it can't be fixed I'm afraid. -
Seen that too, a lot of the IndyCar drivers had issues with it all too. Tyre physics are a notorious thing to get right considering the myriad of things going on in real life in that regard. Also, I agree that difficult doesn't always mean realistic. Apparently GT3 cars are quite pleasant (in their own brutal way) to drive in real life for example. It makes sense; if you're going to be in a car for around 2 hours per stint, it better be comfortable or else you can't push it. What does David Perel think of ACC? He drives some of those cars in real life and is big on sim racing.

Hi there, hope this helps: https://steamcommunity.com/app/690790/discussions/0/2254559285360121299/ We have a thread about the update here:

For what it's worth, we've identified something with the audio levels of the German co-driver in Scotland, in 1.14. Other languages should be fine.

The way I see it: A "sim" in the racing context attempts to simulate real-world motorsport, whether it be through physics, rules etc. Games can be "sims" with different levels of fidelity in their physics. While some r/simracing veterans may scoff at titles like F1 or Forza and how they are accessible to players of all skill levels, I still consider them "racing sims" because they make a good effort at replicating the feeling of real-world motorsport. It's not a term exclusive to iRacing and rFactor 😉

DIRT 5 chat can go here now 🙂

Cheers @bn880, passed the link on.

Moved it here, the experts will know 😉

It's not uncommon. "When are you going to talk about ____" gets asked a lot for most games pre-release.

To weigh in on this, locations and cars are chosen way in advance of a game's announcement, as it can take several months (sometimes over a year) to develop each. In other words, a content list is pretty much decided before you all even know a game exists, though occasional changes to account for schedule changes or production timeline updates may shift things around. An example: we wanted the SUBARU Impreza S4 to be the hero car of the Colin McRae: FLAT OUT Pack. That car was coming anyway, but it was further down the development timeline and we wanted to get teasers out in December/January. That meant the car got bumped up the queue to be ready for announce (this is also why it had the Legacy's audio in the initial teasers, before finished S4 audio was added in).

Even the plain liveries need approval 😉 I'd say extra liveries, even blanks, are unlikely to happen. (Ever wonder why the Group B quattro doesn't have one?)

What features do we want to see in a future DIRT Rally game?
PJTierney replied to caerphoto's topic in DiRT Rally Series Suggestions
One thing to bear in mind is that the development team will have their own creative vision for future titles, which is what they'll go ahead with first and foremost. They will have ideas about the game(s) they want to make, learnings from previous titles, insights into how people played/received previous games etc. If some of the things they're considering line up with what people are suggesting then that's great, and can lead them more in that direction or inspire ideas/details they hadn't considered before. It's not like a feedback thread "designs a game from scratch" however, more like "is there a trend in what people are desiring that we may be able to satisfy"? That's my opinion anyways, I could be wrong 🙂 Although not directly related to future titles, this video on player feedback is a good one: -
Currently in the Top 400 after Greece, not bad 🙂 Was sitting inside Top 250 for most of it but a double puncture on the final set of Stages dropped me way down. Also, may have rolled the car a few times: DR2 Chasm Jump.mp4

Things got a bit feisty in my stream this evening 😄 DR2 Scotland Send.mp4

I know he recently put up a video calling out all the people that bullied him online over the years, as well as a few criticising iRacing's response to criticism, but either way, looks like he's been through some stuff.
