Pretty much exactly what you just said. Use the forums to catch up on "bigger" more concise news and updates, while you use Discord to see what the community is actively thinking at that moment. It's a great place for quick one off topics and ideas that survive for 10-15 minute bursts. It's tons of info all over the place at once, but if you're familiar with how the old IRC chats worked back in the day it is essentially the same thing with more meme media integration 😅

Yup, anything big gets shouted at on the more public channels, but if you want to chat or shoot the breeze, Discord's the way to go.

Think of it like the Gossip thread, but as its own platform with a few thousand people coming in and out throughout the day.

I bought it after the announcement. I have seen that they gave Flat Out Pack for owners of Super Deluxe Edition before the DLC came out. I bought Super Deluxe Edition 7th May and then bought Seasons 3+4 to get Flat Out Pack on 9th May.

You shouldn't have needed to do that, as FLAT OUT is free with any Season, and since Super Deluxe contains all 4 Seasons it by association also contains FLAT OUT.

In any case, I've passed this thread on as the Scotland thing is unusual.

  3. Yeah, it happens 😞

Never really got into a rhythm in the first place and didn't have time to gather my senses.

I was pushing too hard on the punctures though, and now you all see what happens.

  4. Discord is a "live" environment, you're either there in real time or you're not, really.

I'm like you in that I like forums for more detailed discussions, but I do enjoy the live aspect of Discord too on occasion (I'm a regular in the unofficial Rally one)

I'm pretty sure it says what benefit you get, when you upgrade them.
It's basically cheaper repairs und the parts don't lose "power" that quick.

Also faster repairs in Service Areas, which means you can get more done.

He sayd ACC is the game with the best GT3 physics. Some things he not really likes, of which the biggest one is the braking. In real life you really need to slam them (probably due to ABS), while in game it is more relaxed. Maybe it is difficult to replicate that, as it also has to do with the pedal equipment you got.

Could be an aero thing. In F1 you need to hammer the brakes initially due to the high downforce, then bleed off as the grip reaches its limit at lower speeds.

I have ACC but I never really got round to playing it, as DR2 and now F1 2020 have been my "main" titles.

Don't want to get the same response to Dirt 5 as Grid.

    Not necessarily.

DIRT 5 is on Discord because it's hitting a different audience to the type that tends to sign up to forums, and allows for even more hand-on conversation between developers and players.

Tech support will still be on the forum though since that needs a more formal process to function.

    1. Car setups. Is everyone just using GTR Technical ones?

    Not necessarily.

They're a good baseline but everybody has their own preferences.

    2. Racing lines visualisation. Now that i made it to masters in DR2 (i've won masters in DR1 with 037 and deltas, so i kinda thought i know how to drive at least) - i am struggling. I've watched some videos of the faster players and i've found out that they are using more width of the road than i usually do. So i thought if there are some videos i don't yet know about with rally racing line visualised?

No Racing Line assist in this game.

You've already made it to Masters so you know what you're doing, it's likely a case of braking later and getting on the throttle earlier to squeeze a few more tenths out of each corner.

    3. Pace notes. Okay so i wanted to know how do you guys translate them into your driving?

Officially, the number of the corner indicates how tight it is, not how fast or what gear it is. Some cars can take a 4 flat out whereas others need to brake for example.

Once you drive the Stages enough you sort of learn them like a circuit anyway, and the notes merely serve as a reminder of what's ahead.

    4. Cars comparison. Maybe you know of a comparison (like there was in DR1) where a decent driver drives them all through a single stage and posts times of every run?

I don't. @bogani did a video on them all but it wasn't a flat-out pace comparison. Your best bet is usually Leaderboards but realistically, you can be fast in any car.

    6. Leaderboard times. So what's you estimation, out of the first top 200 times - how many players have actually memorized the stage? i mean "by heart" as in track racing sim games - with braking points etc etc.

Assume the Top 1% of players know the Stage off by heart to that degree.

@PJTierney Why is this discussion here? Why isn't the new forum unlocked and discussion allowed to take place where it belongs? Instead, we have a mod-stickied thread about Dirt 5 in Dirt Rally 2.0 forum.

DIRT 5 won't have "general discussion" on the forum, it's all on Discord.

Since that means there's no general place to discuss the game on the forums, people are making threads here. Therefore, I consolidated it all into this thread so that it doesn't clutter the DR2 forums.
