  1. What are you thankful for? At this turkey-twizzling time of year, that’s a question we’ve been pondering over at Codemasters Towers. We’re thankful for hairpins and handbrakes. We’re thankful for roaring engines and rickety roll-cages. We’re very thankful for the mean full English breakfast that the canteen team can rustle up at Codies HQ. Most of all, though, we’re thankful to you, our incredible community, for getting behind the wheel of our creations and sharing the experience with others. In return, we bring you this – another Racing Line fuller than your post-Thanksgiving belly with big news and updates. So, stick that pumpkin pie to one side, stop filling up that basket with Black Friday deals, and give this a good read… DIRT 5 You get a launch day! You get a launch day! In the world of DIRT 5 we’ve been almost having more launch days than extra servings from the Thanksgiving table – but, it is now complete. DIRT 5 is out now for PC via Steam, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, including free next-gen upgrade options for current-gen players! Phew. Ticking off those next-gen boxes for launch has also meant more glowing DIRT 5 reviews, including an 8.5/10 from GameInformer and a whopping 9.5/10 from GodisaGeek, waxing lyrical on the game’s visual quality, audio, and haptic feedback integration on PS5. If you haven’t already, c’mon: come see what all the fuss is about. Following a couple of small post-launch patches, we are also gearing up for the first major post-launch DIRT 5 update! Full details are receiving some final tweaks but this is, without a doubt, our biggest update so far, including the addition of wheel support to DIRT 5 on all platforms. There are also a bunch of changes based on your feedback, including to Online matchmaking and to the handling of Sprint cars. Finally, as we may’ve let slip on Twitter, you can expect some fresh content to sail down your chimney too! All will be revealed very soon. We’ll keep you updated on our channels, of course, though Discord is always the best way to stay in the know when it comes to DIRT 5. You can ask yours truly a question, check out the latest news, suggest some new content, and chat with fellow DIRT 5 players. Here’s your ticket. – Chris F1® 2020 Hey – welcome to this week’s edition of the Racing Line – there’s plenty to talk about in the world of F1® 2020 this week! Free Trial If you’re reading this and you haven’t played F1® 2020 yet (where have you been?), we’ve got just the thing for you. This week, we launched a free trial of F1® 2020 on PS4 and Xbox One, which you can check it out here. You’ll be able to create your own F1® team – designing your car, customising your character, choosing your team name, primary sponsor, and Power Unit before picking a Formula 2 team-mate. Once you’re done, you’ll be heading to Albert Park for the first race of the season. That’s not all – we’ve enlisted the help of TommyT999 (and MaximeMXM for those of you in the Netherlands – check this out here) to tell you more about what’s in the trial. F1® Esports 2020 Pro Series We raced on some legendary virtual tracks in last week’s Pro Series event. Seriously. Silverstone, Spa and Monza – what a bunch! And the action was just as legendary, with Silverstone providing Renault Vitality’s Nicolas Longuet with his debut esports win, Dani Bereznay spoiling a Red Bull Racing Esports 1 – 2 at Spa-Francorchamps and David Tonizza back on top with a win on his virtual home turf in Monza. Phew! If that’s got you interested, you can watch the highlights from those three races here. Next time out, it’s the Grand Final, and there’s a lot at stake, including a $750,000 prize pot. You don’t want to miss it, so make sure you’re watching on the 16th and 17th December over on all the usual places, like Twitch and YouTube! F1® Esports 2021 Challengers Watching the F1® Esports pros and wishing you were competing with them? Now’s your chance, but time is running out! The F1® Esports event finishes at the end of this month (that’s in a few days), and this is your last chance to qualify. Interested? Head to the ‘F1 Esports’ tab in F1® 2020 to play it now, or you can find out more about the event here. See you next time! – Jenny DIRT RALLY 2.0 Hey everyone, PJ here with some quick news on DiRT Rally 2.0. DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series – Qualifiers Complete Earlier this week we finished the third month of World Series qualifiers; many thanks to all of you for competing. Once the results are confirmed and players contacted, we progress to the playoff stages, with a series of live broadcasts taking place over the coming months. If you want a taste of that action right now, here are the highlights from our most recent playoff, and I’ll be back in the next Racing Line with details on the next one. If you missed out on the Ford Fiesta R5 MKII, we plan to unlock this for all players once the World Series ends in early 2021. In the meantime, give it a go in Time Trial – it’s rather quick. McRae’s Title: The Story of 1995 Last week we celebrated the 25th anniversary of Colin McRae’s victory in the World Rally Championship, a title which ultimately led to the development of the original Colin McRae Rally. The ’95 season was a topsy-turvy one with retirements, disqualifications, team orders, sudden punctures and many more things at play, and if you’ve not experienced it before it’s well worth looking back on. Catch our video and summary here, or read up on DirtFish’s excellent series of articles, detailing the season as it happened. That’s all from me this week; and if you’ll excuse me I’m off to try and beat this rapid onboard’s Stage time. – PJ PROJECT CARS 3 Racers, start your engines! 2. “It’s the most wonderful time… of the year…” No, we haven’t gone early on the festive vibes, and no, we haven’t found a time machine and travelled a thoroughly unimpressive amount of time. For all of us gamers, now probably feels like Christmas has come early, with new consoles, new games, new reasons to take shelter from the cold and lose yourself in a game or two. The best bit? Codemasters is full speed ahead through this exciting time, with fresh Esports action, major updates, and the small matter of a brand new game launching with next-gen hardware. We told you it was exciting! Let’s get started with a chance to finally redeem that invitation to LET LOOSE… DIRT 5 We made it, people. Our long journey to launch has reached its destination, screaming over the finish line in style. It feels good to say this: DIRT 5 is out now! Available right now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 (selected territories, out globally by November 19), PS4, Xbox One and PC, we are incredibly proud to be sharing DIRT 5 with you. The celebrations kicked off last week with the official launch trailer (below), and carried on with a special look at the game running on PS5, followed by this week’s Xbox Launch Celebration show, featuring yours truly. With launch well underway, we’re already putting the spotlight on your in-game creations. We can’t help but share some of the best DIRT 5 photo mode shots on our social channels, but each Monday, we’re taking it one step further. One chosen photo mode shot will be chosen each Monday as the new banner for the DIRT social channels! Follow us and look out for posts each Monday to find out how to enter. On Friday, meanwhile, it’s all about Playgrounds. In the game, the Featured area of Playgrounds is refreshed with a new slate of hand-picked custom arenas, that we think deserve your attention. From those Featured Playgrounds, every Friday we will choose one to be our ‘Playground of the Week’! The brilliant ‘X Games 2020’ by Merginator was our first POTW, and tomorrow we’ll reveal the second. There’s still time to show us your Playground and stake your claim – upload footage of your creation using #POTW! Whilst we’re bringing you all that fun and games, the hard work is well underway behind the scenes on the usual patches and updates to further improve your experience. The DIRT 5 Discord is the best place to be to track all of this – here, you can speak directly with the DIRT 5 team, check out a dedicated channel for patch notes and other game updates, and use our feedback form to give us your thoughts on the game. The journey to this point may’ve been long, but we’re just getting started… – Chris F1® 2020 Hey all, and welcome to this week’s Racing Line. Here’s what’s going on in the world of F1® 2020! We’re halfway through this year’s Pro Series, and there’s so much action still to come. DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series – Round 3 Underway We’re into the final set of DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series Qualifiers, with only a few weeks of competition left before we whittle down the tens of thousands of players to a handful. This week it’s R5 cars at Australia and RX2 cars in Sweden, and as always we have demonstration runs up on YouTube. This is also a perfect opportunity to try out the Ford Fiesta R5 MKII, and when you finish the Qualifier you’ll get the car yourself on Tuesday. The top players from these Qualifiers will be invited to a playoff broadcast in early December. We recently capped off the Round 2 broadcast, and you can catch all of that on YouTube too. That’s all for now, good luck out there on the road. – PJ PROJECT CARS 3 It’s been quite a busy week for us at Slightly Mad Studios with the release of the first add-on pack, the “Legends Pack”, along with a fresh update to Project CARS 3. Let’s take a drive and see what’s new, as well as what you can look forward to in the near future. Legends Pack This is the first in a series of downloadable content for Project CARS 3 and features three legends from Japan’s awesome car culture: the Acura NSX, Mazda RX-7 R2, and Toyota Supra MkIV Turbo, plus their respective racing conversions. Feast your eyes on the launch trailer to see them in action! Along with new cars, dozens of customisation options, and achievements for you to unlock, there’s also a new race circuit for you to master, the Yas Marina Circuit, available for free to all Project CARS 3 drivers. A new update is also available for all platforms, bridging support for the DLC pack and various other improvements. To find out what exactly, check out the update notes. Rivals Challenge Undoubtedly one of the most popular features in Project CARS 3 is our Rivals Challenge, that has the whole community challenging one another to post the fastest possible time around a specific circuit with a pre-selected car. To stay up to date on upcoming Rivals Mode challenges, and who has the fastest time, be sure to keep an eye on our dedicated Rivals Mode page. Plus, don’t forget to tune in to our social channels where we run a weekly track guide for that week’s Rivals Challenge. Make sure to keep an eye on the in-game store for flash offers, just like the 24-hour sale we recently ran for the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team pack at 50% off, following their title-clinching performance in Imola! – Chris RACING AHEAD It’s been fantastic to see just how much Racing Ahead content creators have been enjoying DIRT 5 since its first of three launches last week. Whilst you might not have time to watch the 180+ videos they’ve created already, we’ve selected a handful of our favourites below. BlackPanthaa dived into almost every mode available and even brought his wife Meadow in for a quick race in split-screen. Camodo got his first taste of ice racing on New York’s East River and TmarTn has been flying through Career mode, with three episodes under his belt already. 3. Music has been a huge factor in previous DIRT titles, particularly DiRT 2 and DiRT 3 – games that we’ve specifically marked as inspirations for this latest entry in the series. Even when we revealed DIRT 5 to the world back in early-May, one of the most asked questions we received has been around the soundtrack. With all that in mind, we knew that music had to be a big focus for DIRT 5 – and it’s time to reveal all! The DIRT 5 soundtrack brings you over 40 of the best and brightest sounds from multiple genres, from artists around the globe, making it a key part of DIRT 5’s overall style and vibe. Iconic rock acts such as The Killers and New Found Glory; hot new acts like Sports Team, The Mysterines and YUNGBLUD; club legends like The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy; all that and more has a spot in DIRT 5’s hand-picked, eclectic soundtrack. In-game, this music will be the backdrop whenever you navigate through DIRT 5’s menus and race setups, and will naturally transition as you load into a race event. Once you’re racing, players will have multiple options for how to listen to the soundtrack. In the pause menu’s audio settings, choose ‘3D’ for the music to dynamically change as you race past speakers and points of interest along the track, or select ‘2D’ to have the music playing consistently through the race. There are, of course, options to adjust the volume levels, including switching the music off. Check out this of more artists and tracks coming to the biggest and most diverse DIRT soundtrack ever: American Authors – Microphone (Habitat Remix) Arkells – Years In The Making Barns Courtney – Fun Never Ends Car Seat Headrest – Hollywood Chaka Khan – Like Sugar Child of the Parish – Thread The Needles Eye Dinosaur Pile-Up – Back Foot EOB: Ed O’Brien – Shangri-La – Spike Stent Edit Floating Points – LesAlpx Foals – In Degrees Hero The Band – Shout Hockey Dad – I Missed Out Inhaler – We Have To Move On Jamie N Commons – Let’s Do It Till We Get It Right John J Presley – Left Mason – Dance, Shake, Move New Found Glory – Hit or Miss Noisy – Oi ATM Oh The Larceny – Check It Out Pearl Jam – Who Ever Said Sports Team – The Races Starcrawler – Home Alone Stormzy – Pop Boy (ft. Aitch) Tesla – Tied To The Tracks The Academic – SUPERLIKE The Amazons – Mother The Bloody Beetroots + Jet – My Name Is Thunder The Chemical Brothers – Bango The Hara – Friends The Heavy – A Whole Lot of Love The Killers – Caution The Mysterines – Gasoline The Prodigy – Timebomb Zone The Sherlocks – Magic Man The Shoes – Time to Dance (Sebastian Remix) Twin Atlantic – Volcano Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown – Drive Me Mad Weshly Arms – Never Be The Same Wolfmother – Chase The Feeling (feat. Chris Cester) YUNGBLUD – Tin Pan Boy We’ve compiled all these tracks into a DIRT 5 Spotify playlist for you to save, download and get acquainted with between now and October. This is just the beginning, too – as we head towards launch we’ll have more songs from world-renowned artists to add to DIRT 5’s soundtrack, including exclusives that you’ll hear for the very first time in this game. Those exclusive tracks and more will also feature in an official soundtrack release, as Codemasters partners with Universal Music to give you a way to stay in the vibe of DIRT 5, wherever you are. A real-world OST, available on music streaming platforms upon DIRT 5’s launch in October, is coming your way – keep an eye on our channels for news on tracks and release details. DIRT 5 comes to PC and current-gen consoles on October 16, with a FREE upgrade to the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 next-gen versions, when they launch. Players of previous DIRT games can also get a 10% discount on the Amplified Edition across all platforms! Pre-order today at dirtgame.com/dirt5. View the full article
  4. As promised, we have some juicy information on the upcoming F1® Mobile Racing Esports Finals to share with you! It’s time to fill you in on what to expect from the Finals and give you a sneak peek at some of the amazing rewards you can earn! The F1® Mobile Racing Esports Finals will be split up into two unique rounds. Everyone who has previously qualified for the Finals is eligible to compete in the Playoffs, but to progress into the Grand Final, you must perform well in the Playoffs. Both rounds will be time gated, so if you’re qualified be sure to keep an eye out for the times and dates of the Finals; these dates will be shared soon. Now, for the juicy info… The first round is the F1® Mobile Racing Esports Playoffs, consisting of three Grands Prix that will run for five days. After five days, the Playoffs is closed! These Grands Prix should be very familiar, as they follow the same structure as our other events: Qualifying, Grid Start and Sprint Race. After the Playoffs closes, the players in the qualified tier progress into the Grand Final and unlock a unique Esports Banner! This banner will be present in the player profile and within Duels, so players can show that they’re one of the Esports finalists! The Grand Final is where the competition really heats up, with the F1® Mobile Racing Esports PVP Tournament! Players that make it to the Grand Final will gain access to join F1® Mobile Racing Esports PVP Duels where they will only face other qualified players in Qualifying PVP Duels. The PVP tournament will be open for two hours, during which players must try and score as many points as possible by taking part in Qualifying PVP Duels. Players are awarded points by winning PVP Qualifying duels and winning sectors within those duels, so be sure to maximise your setup and record your best laps! Once the two hours are over, the Grand Final is complete and the player with the highest amount of points will be crowned the F1 Mobile Racing Esports 2020 Champion and will be sent a real F1 Mobile Racing Esports trophy! Alongside this, they will be awarded an amazing once-in-a-lifetime reward! More info on this to come in the near-future. The rest of the players will be placed into Gold, Silver & Bronze reward tiers, based on the amount of points they have overall. Dependant on your tier, you will earn Esports liveries, decals and more amazing in-game rewards. Make sure to follow F1® Mobile Racing on Twitter and Instagram, and join the game’s official Facebook group, to stay on track with the F1® Mobile Racing Esports Finals. View the full article
  5. Hey everyone, As always, we hope you are all well and staying happy and healthy – and just about handling your excitement for what’s around the corner in the gaming world. It’s an exhilarating time right now to be a gamer, and Codies is firmly placed in the centre of it all with new releases, new content, esports action and so much more on the schedule. As you can probably guess, it remains an incredibly busy time for the whole team, who continue to smash it out of the park in less than ideal circumstances. Kudos to all of them – we’re just here to tell you what they’ve been working on! Here’s the last two weeks of Codemasters news, content and general goings-on for you to kick back and take in, starting off with the small matter of a game launching next week… DIRT 5 Think about this. The next time we bring you the Racing Line, DIRT 5 would have launched on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, begun its launch on PlayStation 5, and be about to launch on Xbox Series X. Woah. Guess we better get on with this week’s edition then! We were thrilled to confirm that DIRT 5 will launch with PlayStation 5 from November 12, completing our slate of November arrival dates for our boldest ever off-road racer. DIRT 5 comes to Sony’s next-gen console with a slate of visual and technical enhancements, including 120fps options and faster load times, and also utilises the DualSense controller features for a brand new layer of racing immersion. We have even more details to drop on this soon, so keep an eye out for that as we speed to November 12. Speaking of next-gen (we love a good segue), if you’re planning to take DIRT 5 for spin on Xbox Series X on November 10, make sure to check out our official trailer, with all gameplay captured directly from Series X! Remember: DIRT 5 offers free upgrade options for both console platforms, so if you can’t wait until later this month to dive in, pre-order DIRT 5 for Xbox One or PS4, then upgrade to the next-gen version in a couple of weeks, free of charge. Sorted. That’s plenty of console chat – now for some PC love! We’ve been closely watching AMD this week as they reveal all on the Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics, not just because it’s some sweet new tech, but because DIRT 5 makes full use of it. With DirectX12 and RDNA under the bonnet, the PC experience for DIRT 5 is a pretty sensational one. Find out more in this video. We are so close now to DIRT 5 releasing to the world – and yet, we’ve still got a trick or two up our sleeve. Check out @dirtgame channels tomorrow at 9am GMT, to make sure you’re prepared for launch. – Chris F1® 2020 Hello everyone, PJ here doing his best Nico Hülkenberg impression to fill in for Jenny who is away this week. Lewis Hamilton breaks all-time wins record Let’s start with the big news from the sport itself, where Lewis Hamilton finally eclipsed the record that many thought was impossible, taking his 92nd Grand Prix victory. It’s a monumental achievement and a mark that will stand the test of time. How many do you think he will reach by the time he closes out his career? 100 is certainly doable, and already well within reach. To put the score into context, if you were to fire up F1® 2020 and start a new My Team save today, you would need to complete four full seasons and win every race along the way, along with four more wins in your fifth season to match that total. F1® have put out a great YouTube playlist covering the achievement from all angles; check it out here. 2021 F1 Esports Series Qualifiers As I write this, there’s only a few days left to take part in the first F1® Esports Qualifier for next year. Your objective? Take Valtteri Bottas’ Mercedes to Monza, chase down Charles Leclerc and secure P2. Need a little help? Our qualification guide covers all the basics of getting a good score. There are plenty of reasons to take part other than the top prize however, with a sweet set of golden F1 Esports items awarded to participants, and the ever-enjoyable bragging rights for beating your friends. Don’t have anyone to go up against? Try beating my score if you like. I’m no pro, so only 166,000 points for me in this one. At least I did it with all of the assists turned off! The Monza Qualifier will wrap up at the end of October 31st, and the second month’s Qualifier will go live soon after that. Keep an eye on @formula1game for details. That’ll do it for now – good luck out there in your next race. – PJ DIRT RALLY 2.0 Hey everyone, PJ here again for some Rally news! DiRT Rally 2.0 passes 9 Million Driver milestone Earlier this month we passed a significant milestone, as 9 million of you have braved the Stages with us! To celebrate, we shared some stats, which you can read all about over here. It’s been a long journey and we’re nearing the end for DiRT Rally 2.0 as the development team focuses on the future, but we’d like to thank you all for the FLAT OUT attacks, the front-right punctures, the epic rallycross battles and everything else you’ve been up to. In that time you’ve clocked up more than 1.5 billion kilometres of driving, tackled close to 200 million Stages, and created many exciting stories along the way. Speaking of, we’ve got a few more to write this weekend… DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series – Round 2 Playoffs On Saturday, the world’s fastest players will head online once again for the DiRT Rally 2.0 World series, and it’s set to be another dramatic showdown as we see just how quick people can really go out there. Here are the Round 1 highlights from Rally and Rallycross. That’s all for today, see you on Saturday for the showdown. – PJ PROJECT CARS 3 Welcome back fellow racers! Things may appear rather quiet on the surface from us at Slightly Mad, but don’t let that deceive you — this is only the calm before the sandstorm. Legends are coming and while you wait (yes, there’s two clues about what’s coming next week in what you just read!), here’s what you may have missed from the world of Project CARS 3 since our last Racing Line entry. Driving Seat We have our own blog! Every two weeks on a Thursday, we’ll shine a light on news relevant to the Project CARS franchise and place you, the community, on the top spot of the podium. We powered off the line with a special interview with a community member on his advocacy in leading the push for accessibility in racing games, and it’s a fascinating insight into how our racing community creates games and accessibility for racers with disabilities. Ferrari F40 Along with our Driving Seat blog, we will also be bringing you insightful blogs about the various cars featured in Project CARS 3. The facts, the history, and all the stats needed to win can be found in this Ferrari F40 special feature – the first of the series. TIGA Awards Following on from winning gamescom 2020 “Best Simulation Game” award, Project CARS 3 continues to turn heads. The racing game has now been nominated for “Game of the Year” award at the TIGA Game Industry Awards 2020. You can cast your vote right here before October 30th. And that’s it from me this week. 6. Racing Line. Another one. Lots of big Codemasters news. Too much to talk about. No need to bring you a pithy intro to read. Let’s get straight to it! Shall we begin with a bit of esports action? F1® 2020 Hey all and welcome to a brand new edition of the Racing Line! We’re starting off today’s entry by offering our congratulations to Lewis Hamilton for equalling Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 wins. It’s an amazing achievement, and equalling a record like Schumacher’s doesn’t happen every day! F1® Esports Pro Series Yesterday was the first live show of the 2020 F1® Esports Pro Series, and it absolutely kicked off in style! The first race was Bahrain, and it was a tight one, but one in which a daring alternate strategy from Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN F1 Esports’s Jarno Opmeer paid off. The second race? Well… what a race! Taking place at the (virtual) Hanoi Street Circuit, this race was a perfect way to show off just how tight and competitive this year’s field is. After battling for the majority of the race, it was a thrilling last lap overtake from FDA Hublot Esports Team’s David Tonizza on Nicolas Longuet that sealed the deal. If you haven’t seen it already, you are seriously missing out! Watch both right here: Enjoyed those races? Luckily for you, race three, which will be taking place on the virtual China circuit, will be happening tonight (15th October) from 7:30pm BST. You’ll be able to enjoy all the action live on f1esports.com, or on YouTube here. Want to find out more about F1® Esports? Check out all the team and driver information over here, as well as everything you need to know about schedules, rules and much more. F1 Esports Qualifying If you are enjoying the F1® Esports Pro Series action, you can qualify for next year’s right now (yes, right now!). Load up F1® 2020 and go to the ‘F1 Esports’ to play the event, and if you need more information, just head here… Beginner’s Guides If you’re new to the world of F1® games, or in need of a quick refresh, our beginner’s guides are just the thing for you! You can also check out our YouTube playlist; we’re adding to it all the time, so make sure you bookmark it to come back to. See you next time! – Jenny DIRT 5 Not much going on at the moment, right? We are very much on the home stretch on our journey to DIRT 5’s launch, with November 6 just a couple of weeks away. If we’re out here running livestreams showing off the game, you know we’re close to lift-off – and that’s exactly what we did this week! We went live this Tuesday to bring you a first look at DIRT 5’s Career mode, livery editor, a refresher on Playgrounds and more. If you missed any of the fun, the VOD is on our YouTube channel, and we’ve popped it below: Just 24 hours before those live shenanigans, we got plenty of people talking with the first ever previews of DIRT 5 running on Xbox Series X, including 120fps options. Even with some expected snags with a work-in-progress build on a work-in-progress console, DIRT 5 and its visual setup received some glowing feedback. Digital Foundry said the game is “shaping up to be a perfect launch title”, whilst the brilliant MRDalekJD simply said “It just looks absolutely gorgeous”. We’re over the moon with this early feedback to a work-in-progress build, and can’t wait to bring the finished game to you on November 10 for Xbox Series X|S, and also very soon on PlayStation 5. Don’t forget – DIRT 5 on PS5 will also have 120fps capabilities, on top of more next-gen enhancements and utilising the DualSense controller features. More news on that very, very soon. Phew. Anything else? Just 12 rallycross cars with 600bhp battling around an Italian marble mine in an Ultra Cross event. Oh, and a point-to-point Rally Raid race with modern rally machines blasting through China. No biggie. If your appetite is whetted by that new gameplay and you can’t even wait for November 6, don’t forget – grabbing the Amplified Edition of DIRT 5 gets you three days early access, as well as the keys to every piece of post-launch content we add to the game in the next 12 months. Sound good? You better head here, then. – Chris PROJECT CARS 3 Hello racers, it’s that time again for me to guide you through the Project CARS 3 update for the Racing Line! This week I’ll be highlighting some new content that the Slightly Mad Studios team has been working on, and I am personally very excited about it! Let’s get going… Project CARS 3 Update A new hotfix is available for PlayStation 4, bringing your game version to 1.06. This hotfix will most likely reset the accolades tracker for a small number of players that were previously experiencing issues with this feature. If you were affected by this, 100,000 in-game credits will be automatically added to your account. Thank you to the entire Project CARS 3 community for providing us with valuable feedback for the team to improve the game and give you the best possible experience. Guides Over the coming weeks, we will be releasing a series of in-depth guides featuring driving techniques that give you an insight into cars and circuits featured in Project CARS 3, helping you become a better racer. Learn two ways of hitting the apex, saving you precious seconds each lap, and understanding the Performance Index Rating (PIR), so you always strike the perfect balance. After that, get a closer look at Imola and Snetterton for the ultimate corner and trivia expert knowledge. By now, you may have noticed the different levels these guides fall under. Here’s a breakdown of what these levels mean: 1. Beginner Entry-level tips for newcomers, teaching you the foundations of racing. 2. Novice Tips on driving techniques, assists and game mechanics. 3. Experienced Tuning setups and track guides for you to gain that extra edge. 4. Professional Advanced tips, deep dives on cars and circuits, and a look under the hood of the Madness Engine that power Project CARS 3 – from the physics to individual track dynamics. Rivals Challenge One of the most popular features in Project CARS 3 is Rivals Mode. Rivals invites you to challenge drivers worldwide in Monthly, Weekly, and Daily challenges. You only have a limited number of attempts to top the leaderboards, so to make those attempts count and help you save precious seconds from your lap time, we’re releasing a video each week that focuses on the car and track combination found in that week’s Rivals Mode challenge. Be sure to check our handy YouTube playlist, where you will find all the guide videos in one place, then find your rival in the official leaderboards. That’s all for this week. As always, if you want to keep up to date on all things Project CARS 3, join the Discord community, and don’t forget to follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and check our website for regular updates. – Fernando DIRT RALLY 2.0 Hello everyone, PJ here with your usual roundup of Rally news. DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series – Round 2 Continues Round 2 of the DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series is still ongoing, with the final week of Qualifiers live as you read this. On the Rally side we’ve been using the smooth Spanish tarmac for all three weeks of action; it’s one of my favourite locations in the game as it’s pleasantly easy to drive, but from past experience I know the leaderboards are super tight, as it’s the most hotly-contested location in Time Trial. You’ll need to nail every apex to be in with a shot of making the Playoffs at the end of the month. Rallycross is doing its usual rotation of Super1600, RX2 and World RX Supercars, using various locations across the official calendar. Remember: if you haven’t done any Qualifiers so far in 2020 you will get the Ford Fiesta R5 MKII after your first, so if you want one of the fastest rally cars in the game it’s worth competing for that alone. You can see Jon Armstrong throw it around Poland here. One Special Day 2020 SpecialEffect is a UK-based charity that provides help and support for disabled gamers, and on October 2nd we teamed up with them and our friends at Humble Bundle to celebrate One Special Day. If you’re yet to try out DiRT Rally 2.0 or have a few friends who you think might enjoy the experience, it’s available now on Humble for a specially-discounted price. You can check out the details here, as well as the other great games available in the bundle. At the time of writing this there are just under five days left in the offer, so give it a look during the weekend. That’s it for now; I’ll catch you all soon and good luck out there on the Stages. -PJ F1® MOBILE RACING We have our first monthly winner of the F1® Mobile Racing Esports leagues! Congratulations to ‘Moko’ for winning an unbelievable 3,777 Duels. Props to you for some incredible dedication to the Esports leagues – that’ll take some beating! Each month we’ll crown a winner, as the F1® Mobile Racing Esports competition continues, with amazing rewards up for grabs. But, if you’re looking for a different kind of challenge, not to worry – there are two live GP Events right now for you take part in and win big in-game goodies. The Exhibition event is a four-race event using fan-favourite tracks, whilst the 0 PI event is all about pure driving skill, as performance parts are removed for all drivers. Good luck! – Chris ANY OTHER BUSINESS? The closed beta for Project CARS Go is here! All invites have now been sent out to selected players from the list of applicants, so check your emails to see if you’ve been given access. Keen to find out more about this handheld one-touch racer? Head to the game’s website, and check out the game in action here. This past weekend, we marked World Mental Health Day with a celebration of gaming’s ability to support us through trickier times. If you would like to speak to someone about the subject of mental health, we’ve also listed some dedicated organisations here. View the full article
  7. October. After what feels like forever, it’s here. Somehow. As the nights draw in, the dressing gowns come out the wardrobe and the hot chocolates become more tempting, team Codies is still cooking with gas, working on upcoming games, live titles and everything in between. That’s why the Racing Line is here – to keep you updated on the latest news for those games, as an incredibly exciting year for gaming continues. So, pull on that dressing down, sip on that cocoa and enjoy another stacked Racing Line. How does new gameplay, multiplayer news and more for our upcoming racer sound to warm your cockles? DIRT 5 Ready to party? In a socially distanced manner, of course… Online multiplayer news for DIRT 5 kicked off recently, with the confirmation of our first party mode: Vampire! We gave you a glimpse of Vampire at the end of DIRT 5’s Playgrounds trailer – a mode similar to classic Outbreak and Infection events from past DIRT titles. Can you hold your nerve avoid being turned into a Vampire car by evading enemies in our unique racing arenas? Plenty more news on multiplayer for DIRT 5 – both traditional racing and more party modes – is being lined up, so watch this space. A quick reminder, while we’re here, to head to our official YouTube channel to watch new gameplay videos, including our recently-revealed looks at stadium racing and an incredible sandstorm transforming a race in Morocco. The gameplay was first revealed at EGX, DIRT 5 was out in force at this year’s all-digital event, not just showing off new gameplay and details, but also bringing expert opinion on talks and panels. Technical Director David Springate sat down with Digital Foundry to break down the task of developing DIRT 5 for next-gen consoles, dropping some fascinating insight on how the game is shaping up for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S: Alongside all that console goodness, we’ve been ensuring, of course, that DIRT 5 runs like a dream on PC, too. Just ask Troy Baker! Last week we delivered something to the world-renowned voice actor, who portrays Alex ‘AJ’ Janicek in DIRT 5: a one-of-a-kind PC setup, in partnership with our pals at AMD Gaming. Check out Troy getting just a little bit excited as he unboxed this incredible piece of kit. We’re almost there, team – DIRT 5’s launch begins on November 6 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, followed shortly by Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Don’t forget: We’re offering players a FREE upgrade option to the next-gen version of the game, which will include a 120fps option! Full details on the offer are here. – Chris F1® 2020 Hey all, What a Grand Prix we had this weekend! Did you see us track side at Sochi? You might just be able to spot our advertising in this picture of Daniel Ricciardo… What a race, though, with Valtteri Bottas taking the chequered flag in Russia! You can check out all our Russian Grand Prix F1® 2020 screenshots right here, though talking about Bottas leads us straight on to our next topic: F1® Esports Qualifying Want to be part of next year’s F1® Esports Series? Now’s your chance! The first qualifying event for next year’s Challenger Series – the road to the Pro Draft – is now open. You’ll be taking control of Bottas’ car at Monza. Your aim? Recreate the 2019 FORMULA 1® ITALIAN GRAND PRIX, or go and rewrite the history books – get Valtteri’s car into P2 or higher in the quickest time possible. Those at the top will go through to the Challenger Series, and there’s plenty of other ways to enjoy the challenge, including some new and exclusive F1® Esports customisation items! DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series – Round 2 Underway Round 2 of the DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series has just begun, giving you another three weeks to qualify for the next stage, but before that we had the playoffs from Round 1. The fastest players from the Round 1 Qualifiers faced off in some of the fastest rally and rallycross action you’ve seen all year, with World RX commentator Andrew Coley and our own Jon Armstrong calling the show. You can check out the highlights, full broadcasts and demonstration runs of the entire series on our YouTube channel. Version 1.16 Update Earlier this week we released the (currently) final update for DiRT Rally 2.0. This brought us the long-awaited Ford Fiesta R5 MKII as well as a few minor fixes that we could squeeze in. As a surprise, we also added new audio for the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5, so now it pops, bangs, chirps and whistles as intensely as the real thing. Don’t believe me? Have a listen. Much like the Ford Escort RS Cosworth from a while back, this was fresh audio recorded for DIRT 5 that the audio team was able to include into the DiRT Rally 2.0 version of the car, so you can look forward to hearing it a lot more in the future. One Special Day 2020 – October 2nd If you’re reading this I presume you’re already enjoying DiRT Rally 2.0 but even if you’ve not tried it out yet, or you have a friend you’d like to recommend it to, we’ve got something you might be interested in. SpecialEffect is a UK-based charity that provides help and support for disabled gamers, as gaming is for everyone. Every year on October 2nd the games industry gets together to support this great cause with One Special Day, and you can get involved! We’ve teamed up with SpecialEffect and Humble to support this cause by offering DiRT Rally 2.0 on sale at a great low price. You can check out the details here as well as the other great games available in the bundle. That’s it for now; I’ll catch you all soon. – PJ PROJECT CARS 3 Hello once again, fellow racers! If you’re wondering why I use that line each time this blog goes live, it’s because I used to be a competitive racer myself, participating in multiple league events across several games back in the day. I hung up my racing gloves almost ten years ago, but I still love racing games and get excited whenever a new title gets announced, which is why it brings me great joy to tell you a bit more about Slightly Mad Studios’ upcoming venture into the mobile space with Project CARS GO! But first, let’s talk about Project CARS 3: Project CARS 3 Update #1 The first update for Project CARS 3 has landed and addresses many of those pesky issues reported by the community, which the team have been working hard to address. You can see what’s changed in the update notes here. Project CARS GO It’s been a while since news first broke that the Project CARS franchise was all set to make its long-awaited debut on mobile. Slightly Mad Studios has teamed up with mobile specialists Gamevil to bring you the Project CARS experience on the go (see what I did there?). Project CARS GO brings a curated selection of historic and modern-day motorsport machines, all licensed along with licensed tracks, to bring mobile players an on-the-go racing experience. It all hinges around a dynamic and seriously addictive one-touch play mechanism, and it’s just an absolute blast to play! If you’d like to try the game for yourself, a closed beta programme will be taking place from the 14th until the 27th of October for residents of the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia. You can sign up right now! That’s all I’ve got for you this week. 8. Hey everyone – thank you for joining us for another Codies Racing Line! Our fortnightly update of news and updates on current Codemasters games is back and raring to go. As always, we hope everybody reading this is staying happy and healthy. We’re continuing to love seeing how you are using Codemasters titles to escape, unwind, challenge yourself or just have some flat-out fun. From the ongoing DiRT Rally 2.0 challenges, to F1® 2020 online play and Podium Pass progression and plenty more, keep sending us your content and telling your stories about how you’re a part of the Codemasters community. In return, we’ll keep dropping the content and updates – so let’s wrap up everything we’ve revealed over the past two weeks, beginning with an off-road racer that’s gearing up for the next generation of gaming… DIRT 5 Right, let’s get the less-awesome news out of the way first. At the beginning of last week we announced that DIRT 5’ launch on PC and current-gen consoles has moved to November 6. It sucks, we know, and our excitement to get this game in your hands will have to carry for a little longer. But hey, that just means our road trip to launch has a couple more stops along the way – and we’ll of plenty of sights for you to take in (AKA new game details, new gameplay and more). Now, the fun stuff – beginning with confirmation that DIRT 5 is leading the way for new next-gen racing experiences. Immediately after the reveal of the Xbox Series S and launch dates, we confirmed that DIRT 5 will be a launch title for Xbox’s next-gen consoles, coming November 10! As part of Xbox’s first look at the Series S, we’ve released the first ever footage of DIRT 5 running on the console. Check it out below and turn up those video settings to take it all in: The versions will be optimised for the consoles, including greater graphical and performance options – and you’ll be entitled to them for FREE if you’re already playing DIRT 5 on Xbox One. The same applies for PlaySation 4 players if and when you switch up to PlayStation 5; with this week’s news on PS5’s release date and launch plans, we will of course bring you more information ASAP on when DIRT 5 will arrive on Sony’s new hardware. Along with the next-gen news came our latest look at DIRT 5 gameplay, with some 1980s rally beasts competing in an incredible night-time scene on New York’s frozen East River. More new gameplay, you say?! Well, keep your eye on this week’s PAX Online and EGX Digital event, where Codemasters features heavily on their digital show floor and panels line-up. Check out our event space, where we’ll be dropping new gameplay and more details as the event rolls on. Finally, I couldn’t wrap this up without dropping this superb Don Joewon Song video, where the Racing Ahead creator drives like a boss through his own Playgrounds arena from our recent exclusive demo. Enjoy! – Chris F1® 2020 Hello, and welcome to this week’s edition of the Racing Line! The news never stops coming in the world of F1® 2020 and this week is no different. Podium Pass Series Two Series Two has kicked off, and we’ve got 30 new levels of free and VIP items for you to unlock, as well as plenty more challenges for you to get your teeth into. We know you’re excited about it, so we’ll start by sharing the trailer: We’ve got some great stuff for you to get your hands on, including special ‘We Race As One’ and ‘End Racism’ sets, which are included in the free tier. The latter is above, whilst the rainbow-emblazoned livery is below: There’s plenty of gloves, helmets, suits, liveries and podium emotes for you to check out – get a sneaky peek at what’s coming up in our blog here. Livery Update We’ve also been busy updating the official liveries in F1® 2020! Six out of the 10 teams have had updates added, from the #WeRaceAsOne rainbow livery on the McLaren, to the ‘Thank you NHS’ logo added to the Renault, as well as the HP, Team Vitality logos. Here’s a beautiful screenshot of the Renault at Monza: You can read more about our livery update here. We’d love to see your screenshots of our updated liveries – send in your favourites to us on our social channels! Patch 1.09 Not only have we kicked off Podium Pass Series Two and updated the official team liveries; we’ve also released patch 1.09. Alongside the optimisations and fixes (which you can check out in the patch notes right here), we’ve added some new features! You can check out a couple here, and read more of a deep dive into this patch in our Forums. • Option added so players can engage ERS by holding the button. You can now engage ERS button by holding the button, rather than toggling it on and off! Head into Preferences, then Controls, Vibration & Force Feedback, Generic Settings and you’ll able to change ‘Overtake ERS Mode’ between ‘Hold and ‘Toggle’. • Customisation sliders now show values to allow easier editing. We’ve made it easier to match your suit to your gloves. With this patch, we’ve introduced numbers to each of the colour sliders, which means that you can match everything perfectly! Phew! See you next time, – Jenny DIRT RALLY 2.0 Hello everyone, PJ here with your usual rally round-up. DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series – Round 1 Qualifiers Complete We’re already at the end of the first month of competition in the DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series, with the third set of Qualifiers having ended this week. The next stage is for ourselves and Motorsport Network (the event organisers) to review the potential qualifying times, ensure they all played fair, and then finalise (and contact) the list of entrants for the Round 1 Playoffs. Those Playoffs will take place on September 26, and we’ll be broadcasting them live for you all to watch. More details on that in the next week or so. Version 1.16 Update We’re currently in the final stages of building and releasing the Version 1.16 update for DiRT Rally 2.0. I can’t share a release date or Patch Notes just yet as things aren’t finalised, but one thing we all know is coming is the Ford Fiesta R5 MKII. All players will be able to use this brand new rally car in the Freeplay areas of the game (Custom, Time Trial, etc.), but to “own” the car in My Team you will need to take part in any DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series Qualifier. If you’ve done that already, great! If not, Round 2 starts at the end of September. That’s it for now; I hope you all did well in Round 1, and will enjoy the Ford Fiesta when it releases. I’ll leave you now with this hilarious video of “that one corner in Spain we all struggle with“. Enjoy. – PJ PROJECT CARS 3 Image: Zyun Hitokoto on Twitter Hello, fellow racers! Back again for another Racing Line blog to keep you up to speed with what we’ve been working on in Project CARS 3. It’s now been just under three weeks since release, and we’ve been receiving a lot of great feedback from the community, so thanks for your continued support. Please keep the feedback coming, which is fed back directly to the team to help shape upcoming updates. Upgrades Are Here One of the new features of Project CARS 3 is your ability to upgrade your cars with real-life performance parts—everything from turbos to aerodynamics. Because the upgrades are directly linked to the physics engine, what you upgrade will have a very real effect on the handling and power of your cars. So, if you happen to tune your front wheel drive road car with an extra 300hp, you may find 200 of that horsepower is wasted on wheelspin! To find out how to balance your upgrades and the best upgrade path to increase your cars’ Performance Index Rating, take a look at our two blogs – one for handling and one for power. Give Us Your Best In the previous blog entry, I asked the community to share their most creative Project CARS 3-related image, and boy did you deliver! We had some feature on our social platforms, but there were so many awesome ones, I thought I’d highlight some more on this blog! Frtluan92 on Instagram Angie on Instagram Davizon on Instagram Please do keep sharing your content on social media with the hashtag #ProjectCARS3 and we’ll keep finding ways to get your creativity out into the world where they belong. Thank you! That’s all for this week. As always, if you want to keep up to date on all things Project CARS 3, join the Discord community, and don’t forget to follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and our website. – Fernando F1® MOBILE RACING You’ve waited patiently, and now it’s here – Update 14 has dropped for F1® Mobile Racing, available now on iOS and Android! Not only that, but it’s one of the game’s biggest ever updates… The headline act of Update 14 is the return of esports to the game, in the form of F1® Mobile Racing Esports – a completely new mode that’s your chance to become a racing legend. Exclusive Leagues and Challenges are waiting for you to take on, competing against some stiff competition all battling to get to the top, just like you. Best of luck! Alongside the return of esports, we have more fresh GP Events dropping in Update 14. Now live is the Exhibition Event, combining some of the circuits that unfortunately had to be dropped from the real-world F1 calendar this season, giving you the chance to compete and win big. Keep logging in to look for more GP Events, too! On top of that, we’ve added the Mercedes AMG F1 Team black livery, as well as a free #WeRaceAsOne livery to use. Enjoy and see you on the track! – Chris ANY OTHER BUSINESS? This past weekend we celebrated National Videogames Day with a nostalgic look at where we’ve been on our gaming journey with all of you. Specifically with the DIRT franchise, we want to hear where your allegiances lie with our lineage of off-road racers – head here to join the conversation. There’s still time – but only just – to get your hands on some retro Codies t-shirts, courtesy of Squared Seven! Our new major competitive event comes as part of Update 14 for F1® Mobile Racing, out now on iOS and Android, so make sure you’ve downloaded the new update to get involved as soon as possible. But first, let’s give you the low-down on what F1® Mobile Racing Esports exactly is. As we’ve mentioned, our in-game Esports action is bigger and better than ever, and that’s where the F1® Mobile Racing Esports Qualifying Leagues come into play. To even get a chance at becoming an F1® Mobile Racing Esports legend, you first need to progress through the Leagues and reach the pinnacle of F1® Mobile Racing. Once you’re there, your journey can begin – but don’t expect it to be easy, as every opponent you face on the way will have the exact same goal. So race hard, but race fair. Once you reach F1® Mobile Racing Esports League 3, you’ll unlock F1® Mobile Racing Esports Challenges. These challenges are designed to be tough, so make sure you’ve perfected your set-up and you’re ready to focus. F1® Mobile Racing Esports isn’t just about speed – its about your skills as a driver. F1® Mobile Racing Esports Challenges all have a PI limit of 2000, but don’t worry – you won’t need to create a new setup just for these challenges. This is done automatically when you join each challenge. You can jump right into each challenge by selecting the Start Race button on the Challenges tab. This takes you right into the action. Each challenge has unlimited retries and you can jump in and out of each challenge easily, so you can tweak your setup to suit each challenge and improve your time. Also, if you want to try a different challenge, you can skip the current challenge you have, so no need to worry if you find yourself stuck! So, how does all of this tie into F1® Mobile Racing Esports? To qualify for the F1® Mobile Racing Esports 2020 Finals, you have to complete five of these F1® Mobile Racing Esports Challenges! You’ll have a few months to complete five and secure your qualification for the Finals. In the coming months, we will release more information regarding the F1® Mobile Racing Esports 2020 Finals, including rules and prizes. DIRT RALLY 2.0 The DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series Begins The DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series is back for 2020, with double the prize money, a real-life rallycross drive up for grabs and a brand new rally car as an in-game reward. In the last Racing Line, we had just announced the competition, so now we’re well underway. As I write this, we’re currently in Week 2 of Round 1; you can find all of the details here. Remember: you only need to take part in one Qualifier to get the Ford Fiesta R5 MKII, which will be in your Rewards once we add it to the game in early-October. If you want to push yourself further, however, we have demonstration runs of each Qualifier up on our YouTube. Keep an eye out for more in the coming weeks and months. With the World Series roaring back to life, esports site OverTake sat down (virtually) with the DiRT Rally 2.0 Game Director, Ross Gowing, to talk about the World Series and the future of off-road esports. Grab your favourite warm beverage and have a read here. World RX is Back! DiRT Rally 2.0 is the official game of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, so naturally we’re all excited to see the real-world sport back on our screens again. The 2020 season kicked off with two rounds at Höljes in Sweden (which you can drive in the game), followed by another two rounds in Finland, and in a few weeks’ time they’re off to Latvia for another double-header (that track’s also in the game). The big question going into the first four rounds: are Johann Kristoffersson and that Volkswagen Polo still the best combination around, despite both skipping 2019? “JK” certainly answered that in style, but he didn’t have it all his own way. You can catch the Final of Round 4 here, and the rest of the action on the World RX YouTube channel. How to “Get Good” at DiRT Rally 2.0 DiRT Rally 2.0 is as popular as ever, and with many new players coming to the game over the past year a common question asked to us is: “how do I get better?”. To answer that, I compiled a list of tutorials and guides that you can all take a look at and up your game – which you may want to do considering the World Series is back in town! There are links to official tutorials, top guides from players, tuning setups and a whole lot more. Here’s the link, so go soak up all that knowledge. That’s it for now everyone – good luck out there in the World Series. -PJ F1® MOBILE RACING It’s that time again, people! With Update 13 for F1® Mobile Racing all rolled out, and the new content being enjoyed by our players, the team have been back in the lab, drawing up new ways for you to play and experience the official free-to-play F1® handheld racing game. We’ve taken on yet more feedback from the constantly-active community, blended in some big changes in the real-world F1 season, and brought in some fresh ideas for another major step forward for F1® Mobile Racing. On top of that, we’re continuing to look at the success of F1 Esports with our console and PC friends, and finding new ways to bring similar experiences to handheld players. Watch this space. We’re almost ready to reveal all – I’d definitely recommend checking the game’s official Facebook page and Twitter channel over the next few days for more news! – Chris ANY OTHER BUSINESS? Racing Ahead content creators have been hard at work putting their ‘creator’ moniker to the test by getting to grips with DIRT 5’s recently announced Playgrounds mode this last week. There’s been no shortage of creativity amongst them. Camodo Gaming’s first arena was a simple but satisfying creation that will have you hitting restart over and over to get the best time. Whereas GTR Technical, known for his DiRT Rally 2.0 set-up guides, is already gaining a reputation thanks to his incredibly detailed arenas. It wasn’t all about creating though: Black Panthaa took an in-depth look at some of the Arenas already featured in this exclusive early access version of the game, and after testing the creator for himself, TmarTn challenged a few of the arenas made by the DIRT 5 development team. This exclusive build also included DIRT 5’s photo mode, which creator CROWNED put through its paces, creating some absolutely stunning shots. Seriously, you have to see these: Like what you see? You’ll be able to get your hands on some of the best Racing Ahead creations in an exclusive Playgrounds Playlist when the game launches on October 16th – on top of everything else DIRT 5 has to offer. BEST RACING GAME We started gamescom 2020 in big fashion, revealing Playgrounds to the world, and we ended gamescom 2020 in equal style. Revealed during Sunday’s Best of Show awards, DIRT 5 won the gamescom Best Racing Game award! Congratulations to the entire DIRT 5 team, and thank you to everyone who has supported the game so far. Launch is now just a few weeks away and we can’t wait to get the game in your hands. PHOTO MODE Before the fun and games of Playgrounds, we got into some more detail on a couple more big features for DIRT 5 in August. First up, photo mode – a huge community request that we’re excited to be including in all versions of the game. DIRT 5’s photo mode is one of the most detailed and customisable you’ll find in any genre, with tools like spotlights, multi-layer filters, RGB control and more allowing you to capture every moment in your own way. Check out this thread for all the deets, then jump to this post featuring the amazing CROWNED, showing just how detailed you can get with DIRT 5’s photo mode. SOUNDTRACK What’s any road trip without a killer playlist? Adding to the vibe of DIRT 5 is a star-studded official soundtrack, with over 40 artists and multiple exclusive tracks that you’ll hear for the first time in the game. Global stars like Stormzy, The Killers, Pearl Jam and The Chemical Brothers are joined by hot new acts like The Mysterines, Sports Team, Hockey Dad and The Amazons, with much more in between. Alongside the in-game soundtrack (which, yes, you can listen to during races), look for an OST release coinciding with DIRT 5’s launch, in partnership with Universal. Nice. Get into the vibe of DIRT 5 already by listening to the soundtrack on Spotify now. WHAT’S NEXT? We may’ve revealed our mystery feature in Playgrounds, but don’t think for a second that we’re slowing down in September. We’ll be diving deep into the Multiplayer for DIRT 5, confirming all modes and ways to race against the world. That’s our key focus for September, but there’ll be plenty more coming between now and launch, including the final car list and more gameplay. DIRT 5 launches on October 16 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, followed later this year by Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. The next-gen versions will be optimised for the new consoles, including a 120fps mode. 13. The Playgrounds mode for DIRT 5 is a feature that’s brand new to the DIRT franchise – the ability to design, create, edit and race on your own custom racing arenas. Use a huge suite of objects – from bumps, kickers and ramps, to loops, tunnels and rings of fire – to devise the most creative and ambitious arenas for racing antics. Conjure up the most devilish and challenging time trial runs with Gate Crasher; test the community’s skill in Smash Attack; or devise a haven for drifts and donuts with Gymkhana events. These event types can be assigned to your Playgrounds to add structure and objectives to your incredible designs – and every single creation comes with a global leaderboard, allowing you to compete against the world on any arena. Constantly create Playgrounds and, with a press of a button, share them with the world via our in-game tools for others to test their skills in your designs. Or, use the same tools to discover other user-created Playgrounds, download them, and tear around the creations of other players. Playgrounds allows you to experience, and contribute to, a humongous selection of DIRT experiences, designed by you, the players. That’s the summary of how you’ll experience Playgrounds in DIRT 5, but a massive mode like this has plenty more detail to break down. So, here’s everything you need to know before you create and discover new epic off-road events in Playgrounds… CREATE Imagine a blank canvas, a huge open space, where you have full control over the extreme racing action that takes place on it. Get your creative juices flowing and design the off-road event you’ve always dreamed of with Playgrounds. Players will have the option to set their Playground in two locations – Arizona, or inside the Cape Town Stadium in South Africa. Choose your setting and you’ll be taken to your empty Playground, with a bird’s eye view of the arena to help you navigate. Once you’ve got a feel for all that, it’s time to start building your Playground. Use the Objects option to open a massive menu of items to choose from. Build the groundworks with blocks, ramps and boxes. Add dirt areas, bumps and water spots to mix up the terrain. Drop in incredible set pieces like loops, rings of fire, or buses and wrecked vehicles to jump over. Place drift gates, donut spots and more for Gymkhana-focused arenas. Add some style and personality with decorative items, foliage and a colour editing option. The choice is completely yours with how to design your Playground. After choosing any object, they can be rotated and placed, with clear guidance on any placement limitations. Many items can be snapped together when placing to ensure your Playgrounds keep their flow, and multiple objects can be duplicated on the fly to speed up the process. At any point during your design, you can head to the pause menu and choose ‘Test’ to jump into a car and try out the Playground for yourself. You’ll be able to choose between three different event types to link with your Playgrounds design: – Gate Crasher: Create incredible high-speed runs, insanely difficult routes and any time-trial based event in between with Gate Crasher. The route for players to take to successfully complete the event will be laid out by gates that you place onto the arena. – Smash Attack: Challenge players to find and collect objects in your arena in the shortest time possible, and place penalty objects for racers to avoid at all costs! – Gymkhana: For the first time ever, design your own Gymkhana arena for players to throw down. Place spots for drifting, donuts, jumps and more for players to accumulate points on for style, speed and flow in this time-based event. Once you’ve chosen your event and are happy with your design, the ‘Publish’ menu will ensure your Playground is ready to go. After choosing a vehicle for the map and making sure the required objects have been added, you’ll be asked to validate the event by completing it yourself. Do that, and you can save and publish your very own off-road racing arena. Multiple Playgrounds can be designed and saved, so mix things up and let your creativity run wild. SHARE Creating a Playground is one thing, but what if you want to share your arenas with the world? After creating a Playground, you’ll be given options that help you label, define and upload your arenas, so players can discover them when browsing and download it to play on. Once you’ve done that, your Playground can be uploaded to DIRT 5’s servers and hosted on our searchable database of user-generated creations. When players find your arena, they’ll be shown its name, picture, event type, car class, arena location, your profile name, the tags you chose earlier, how many times the Playground has been played, and how many entries there are on this leaderboard. All this helps players gauge what kind of arena you’ve designed and if it’s creating a buzz in the community. DISCOVER Want to see how your Playgrounds stack up against the rest of the world’s? Not interested in creating, and just want to race in the incredible arenas of DIRT 5’s community? The Discover option in Playgrounds is your gateway to the most unique, varied, player-driven off-road racing experience around. Head to the Discover menu and use all our tools to help you find the Playgrounds you’re looking for. Firstly, there’s ‘Browse’, where you’ll find a set of Playgrounds curated by the DIRT 5 team, based on their popularity. Our ‘Featured’ category will host an ever-changing selection of arenas that we recommend checking out, the ‘Popular’ section will show the arenas that have been raced on the most, and ‘Top’ will show you the highest-rated arenas. If you feel like mixing it up, there’s also ‘Lucky Dip’, which will bring you a completely random selection of Playgrounds to browse. Looking for something more specific? Use the ‘Search’ menu to enter different criteria and find the Playground of your dreams. Use specific search terms, filter the event types, car classes, tags used, and more to drill down into the DIRT 5 database and find what works for you. Whichever way you choose to find arenas, you can Pin any that catch your eye, which takes them to your ‘My List’ menu, creating a shortlist of all the Playgrounds you want to check out. Found an arena you want to jump into straight away? Hit ‘Start Event’ to load up the Playground. Driving over the start line will start the event – then it’s time for you to speed through those gates, smash those objects, or nail those Gymkhana spots. Once you complete the event, the post-race screen will show your score on the global leaderboard. There are also options after the event to retry it, or report the Playground so our moderation team can assess it. Be sure to use the Like and Dislike options to give your opinion on the Playground and affect its search stats. Finally, you’ll be presented with suggested Playgrounds with similar characteristics to the event you just played, so you can constantly jump into new and relevant events. PLAYGROUNDS IN ACTION Want to see what all of this looks like in DIRT 5? We gave selected media and Racing Ahead content creators access to an early demo of Playgrounds – and their reaction has been incredible. 15. Hey everyone, Thanks for joining us for another Racing Line, and we hope you’re all happy and healthy. It’s been a frantic few weeks for the Codemasters team, plugging away through heatwaves and thunderstorms to keep pushing forward on multiple racing titles. But that we have done, and the result is another plethora of details to get you caught up on. I know we say this every week, but this latest fortnightly update on Codemasters news and reveals is absolutely stacked. New game content, multiple esports announcements and a major reveal for another upcoming game. That’s just the start of it, so kick back and enjoy another Racing Line, beginning with big news for F1 fans… F1® 2020 Hey all, Welcome to this week’s Racing Line! We’ve got a lot to run through today, so let’s get started! Keep Fighting DLC Last week, we released a brand new DLC pack in support of the Keep Fighting Foundation, inspired by Michael Schumacher. Proceeds will go towards the Keep Fighting Foundation, so now you can look good on track and raise money for a truly worthwhile cause. Learn more about our Michael Schumacher-inspired livery, podium emote, gloves, suit and badge here. The Keep Fighting DLC wasn’t all we released, and you can find out more about our latest patch in our patch notes. F1 Esports We’ve missed it. You’ve missed it. And last week we confirmed it: the brand new F1 Esports Series presented by Aramco is here, with a cash prize fund of… wait for it… $750,000 (we can confirm that isn’t a typo!). The F1 Esports Series presented by Aramco gets started on the 27th August with the Pro Draft Reveal Show, where teams will announce their 2020 line-ups. After that, we’ll be getting into the Pro Series, where the action will be hotting up – 12 races, full qualifying and a 35% race distance – you won’t want to miss a minute! For this one, lend us your ears, as well as your eyes… You’ve probably noticed that we’re making a big deal about the vibe of DIRT 5 – how all elements of the game fit together to create a style and culture that you’ll experience. Music is a massive part of all of that, which is why we were thrilled to reveal the huge soundtrack coming to DIRT 5. Over 40 artists come to the series’ biggest ever song list, including superstars like Stormzy and The Chemical Brothers, new hot acts like Sports Team and The Mysterines, throwbacks like New Found Glory and Tesla, and so much more. All news on the DIRT 5 soundtrack is here, with more exclusive tracks yet to be revealed, and an official soundtrack release in the works! Following that, we marked World Photography Day earlier this week by going in-depth on a big DIRT 5 feature: photo mode. Taking the already-superb setup used by the Codemasters Cheshire team in previous games, DIRT 5’s photo mode gives you the tools, freedom and simplicity to capture all of your greatest moments in stunning detail. Check out this thread for all the deets. Some housekeeping and PSAs for you: on Monday August 24, make sure to sign up and tune into the Ukie UK Game of the Show event, in which DIRT 5 is nominated! Before we wrap up, a quick reminder that despite everything we’ve just dished out, this month’s key focus is yet to be revealed. We’ve been building towards something special and are almost ready to tell all. You won’t want to miss this… – Chris DIRT RALLY 2.0 Hey everyone, PJ here with your regular Rally update once again. DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series Returns After the great success of the 2019 season, the DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series is back – bigger and better. You can catch the full announcement here but in summary: • $20,000 total prize pool • Rallycross winner gets to drive a real-live QEV electric Rallycross car • All entrants get a free car in the 1.16 update • Sporting Regulations • Terms & Conditions Qualifiers start on August 25, and if you take part, you’ll have brand-new Ford Fiesta R5 MKII waiting for you in early October. Keep an eye on our YouTube channel over the coming weeks, as we’ll be sharing high-speed on-board runs of every Qualifier, which you can use as reference for when you take on the world. Version 1.15 Update Coinciding with the World Series announcement was the release of the Version 1.15 update, adding the Qualifiers and a little surprise into DiRT Rally 2.0. For the Ford Fiesta R5 already in the game (the MKI) a new Royal Air Force livery has been released, and is free for all players. Did you know that the RAF have their own rally team? They compete in events all around the UK and have a rather nice SUBARU Impreza to hoon about in, too. Other highlights include a few car fixes, as well as some much-requested performance improvements to Scotland. This Scotland update (like all location updates) necessitated a full re-download of its location assets, which explains why your update was around 10 GB. Full patch notes are here. The new home for DiRT Rally 2.0 news Earlier this week I published this blog post, detailing some updates to where you get your DiRT Rally 2.0 news. You can check it out for the (slightly technical) details but essentially, future DiRT Rally 2.0 articles will be posted on the DiRT Rally 2.0 website instead of the Codies Blog. The DiRT Rally Blog has Moved

Hello everyone, Over the past few months, we’ve been hard at work on various website features, building new ways to share the latest and greatest news with you all. One of those changes has been the introduction of a new blog system that improves the way we share updates. This updated blog system is now live and you can find us over on the DiRT Rally 2.0 website, so go check it out! A side-effect of this is that we’re using a new backend system to publish content, and that system is incompatible with this (older) blog you’re reading right now. Therefore, all new DiRT Rally 2.0 news will be posted over on the game’s website, so go ahead and add it to your bookmarks. We’ll still share occasional updates here through the Codies Racing Line blog posts (which cover all Codemasters brands), but for the main content, you now know where to go. To get you all started, here are some announcements and roundups you can read right now, keep an eye out for more updates in the future. DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series – 2020 Season Starts August 25, free car for all participants World RX Esports Series – Final Results British Rally Championship Esports Invitational Series – Final Results The Solberg World Cup – Final Results DiRT Rally 2.0 Game of the Year Edition – Available Now See you soon, -PJ View the full article
  17. Hey everyone, Thank you for joining us for another Racing Line! As always, we hope everyone is happy and healthy, and has a spare moment to check out our fortnightly round-up of big news, reveals and more fun stuff on Codemasters titles. Whilst F1® 2020 may now be available worldwide, the fun is only just beginning for Codies in 2020, with more to come for this year’s F1 title and multiple game launches on the horizon, including the arrival of Codemasters racing games on next-gen platforms. There’s plenty to get into, including some new reveals dropping just earlier today, so let’s race straight into it. We’ll try to keep four wheels on the wagon… F1® 2020 Hey everyone, hope you’re all having a good week. The British Grand Prix was a cliff-hanger, wasn’t it? Jenny’s taking a well-earned break today so I’m here to round up what’s been happening in the world of F1® 2020. Version 1.06 Update: The Mercedes-AMG F1 W11 is certainly a looker, but does it come in black? Yes, yes it does. The 1.06 update released last week and its headline feature is the new “Black Mercedes” livery, matching what Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas have been sporting on the grid this season. On top of this, you have the usual round of tweaks and improvements to the game, based on the reports and feedback you all give on the forums. More updates are coming soon, so to stay up to date (and read up on what changed in 1.06), stick the Patch Notes page in your Bookmarks. Hotlap Series: Great Britain As I write this we’re in between two big races at the Silverstone Circuit in Great Britain, and as we’ve done for the opening races of the season there’s a fresh Hotlap over on our YouTube channel. This on-board run features the sleek blue and white Williams of George Russell and gives you a fine look at some of the fastest corners on the entire calendar, along with that swanky new building opposite the Silverstone Wing. Ever since F1® 2020 was announced back in April, we’ve been showing off the game in action through these Hotlap videos, giving you a close look at each team’s car, the new circuits and more. We’ve got one more lined up to release real soon – any guesses as to what car we’ll be driving? “Get Good” at F1 2020 with our guides! On top of the Hotlaps and fancy trailers that get you all excited about F1® 2020 we’ve also been rather busy post-launch, helping you all get the most out of your racing experience. F1® 2020 is the most accessible Formula 1 title to date and has many tools and features to help new players, as well as any veterans that need a refresher, and you can catch them all on this YouTube playlist. Here’s a quick round-up of our official guides so far, with more coming in the near future: • F1 2020 Beginner’s Guide • F1 2020 AI Difficulty Guide • F1 2020 Track Guide: Austria • F1 2020 Track Guide: Hungary • F1 2020 Track Guide: Great Britain Pitcoin Update If you are an Xbox One player who didn’t receive their Pitcoins after purchasing F1® 2020, we have some good news. By heading to your Xbox messages on your Xbox dashboard or mobile app, you should have a message from Xbox Live with a pair of codes to redeem those missing Pitcoins. We sincerely apologise for the delay and any inconvenience this has caused. Anyone who believes they still have a Pitcoin issue can contact custservice@codemasters.com, where we’ll be able to help. That’s it from me today – have a great weekend and good luck on-track in your next race PJ DIRT 5 Sitting comfortably? Then we’ll begin… Another month down, another month closer to taking on all paths less beaten with DIRT 5, launching from early-October on PC and current-gen consoles, followed later this year by Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Pretty exciting – and it’s been exciting for us to see everyone’s reaction as we roll out more and more previews of what you can expect. Gameplay is understandably what everyone wants to see, so we’ve been bringing you some work-in-progress footage of different cars, locations and events for DIRT 5. Last week, we went all American, heading to the Arizona buttes to show a Stampede track in action, starring the Jimco Unlimited Truck. We followed that up with something very different earlier today – some Ice Breaker action, with the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 sliding around a frozen Norwegian lake, through a blizzard, under the Northern Lights! No, really – check it out: With today’s gameplay we also brought you a couple more DIRT 5 screenshots, retaining the chilly theme with the ice-cold Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2: We were pleased to reveal earlier this week that DIRT 5 has been nominated for UK Game of the Show at this year’s upcoming gamescom event! The winner will be revealed as part of a show later this month, which you can sign up to watch here. Look out for more details from both gamescom and Ukie and use #UKGOTS to show your support for DIRT 5. With August now underway, we have plenty more to show you, including the secret reveal we’ve been alluding to since May. Expect more on that later in the month – and before then, keep your eyes (and ears…) peeled for more DIRT 5 reveals. – Chris PROJECT CARS 3 Hello fellow racers! Another Racing Line blog is upon us, and boy, do I have some good stuff to share with you this week. We’re now on the final sprint to the checkered flag, so let’s get started with the most exciting news … Discover “What Drives You” in the latest Project CARS 3 trailer that launched earlier this week, showcasing some of the incredible features and driving experiences awaiting you later this month: Alongside the new trailer, you can now pre-order Your Ultimate Driver Journey. Project CARS 3 is available in both Standard and Deluxe Editions; which is right for you? Click on the pre-order link and take a look for yourself. Meanwhile, we’ve also been busy showcasing some new cars and tracks, and this week it was the turn of the new Porsche 935, a tribute car to the original Porsche “Moby ****” 935 from the 70s. This is the first time the new Porsche 935 makes its way to a console game, and what a beast this is. True to that all-winning silhouette and formula, but with a 3.8L twin-turbo boxer-6 allied to 2019 tech, this is an absolute winner and a sublime driving experience in Project CARS 3. But wait, there’s more! This week, media have had a chance to play Project CARS 3, and the previews are starting to roll in. Here are some of the top reactions to what they played below: “The best news is just how well it handles now with a pad. Traditional control has been completely revamped and the result is a racer that feels like games used to feel some 15 years ago.” — Gamesradar “When it comes to simulating the violence of being inside a racing car, Project CARS 3 delivers like no other.” — Eurogamer “All signs point to it being a very capable racer, and certainly the most accessible serious sim I’ve seen in years.” — PC Gamer Finally, if you’re looking for a place to hang out, discuss all things Project CARS, and stay up to date on the latest news about our games, then our recently revamped Discord server is just the thing for you! Come join the community and don’t forget to follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and our website. – Fernando F1® MOBILE RACING What an unforgettable finish to last weekend’s British Grand Prix! Joining him on the grid were his brother Kevin, the rapid Tom Blomqvist, returning Shane van Gisbergen and many more real-world drivers and guests. FailRace was here too, trying his best not to do a signature barrel roll over the kerbs. I’m Fernando Moutinho, the Social Media and Community Manager for Project CARS 3. I am incredibly thrilled to be part of such a fantastic team, working on our most exciting title yet. Since the announcement trailer of Project CARS 3 last June, quite a lot has happened. I’ve been keeping a close eye on the reaction from our community and have been taking notes of the valuable feedback fans have been sending our way. We know our fans are just as passionate about the franchise as we are, and it’s my job to make sure the fans are getting a good and open look at our new game. You can learn more about what’s coming your way in our first two Dev Blogs, which we published on our website (Dev Blog 1 and Dev Blog 2), and keep an eye out for more coming in the next few weeks. We’re also currently preparing an FAQ that will address many of those burning questions you’ve been sending our way. There’s a lot of cool stuff happening behind the scenes, and as a racing game fan myself, I really can’t wait to get the green light to get it all out to you. We’re only around 6 weeks from launch, so get ready for a lot more details about Project CARS 3 coming your way on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and our website. – Fernando DIRT RALLY 2.0 Before we kick off with today’s best rally game, let’s look back: Colin McRae Rally 2.0 – 20 Years On Earlier this week, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the legendary Colin McRae Rally 2.0. For many (myself included) this was where the fascination with the sport began, and was a direct influence on some of the DiRT Rally developers wanting to make games for a living. If you fancy some bangin’ 90s beats, check out the opening movie here, and we have quotes from various Codies people here on their memories of playing the game. Special shout-out to our Senior Graphic Designer, David Alcock, who has worked on every single DIRT and Colin McRae game, and is still at Codies today on DIRT 5! A while back I found an original Colin McRae Rally 2.0 manual while raiding the “Codies Swag Cave” (yup, we have one of those for when we need to ship out promotional gear). Still looks good in 2020, check out the pic above. David worked on that, and is still proud of the bespoke metallic ink that was used. And now… back to the present: World RX Esports Series – Final Round – The FIA World Rallycross Championship’s gearing up for real-world action once more, but before then we’ve got an esports champion to crown. This Sunday (July 12), top rallycross drivers and special guests from other disciplines will go head-to-head on DiRT Rally 2.0’s virtual Killarney International Raceway circuit in South Africa. 2019 real-world champion Timmy Hansen leads the standings with 79 points, with Aston Martin GT driver Tom Blomqvist (his dad rallied the Group B quattro, y’know) in second with 67. Timmy’s brother Kevin is in 3rd with 61. Among the new drivers competing this week are GT driver (and professional sim racer) David Perel, Bentley driver Jordan Pepper and Jaguar driver Simon Evans. Mika Salo also returns, bringing some F1 flavour to the grid once more. Missed any of the previous rounds? We’ve got everything on the DIRT Esports section of our YouTube channel – go take a look. Other Esports Activity – Here’s a quick roundup of what else is happening in virtual DiRT Rally 2.0 competitions at the moment: • The British Rally Championship Esports Invitational has ended, and you can watch all 4 rallies here on YouTube. • Alongside this, the eBRC has also completed. Check the final results here. • Citroën’s “Play with C3 R5” series is still active. You can compete and find all the info here for this hardcore rally series. Last week’s Car of the Week was the Renault Clio S1600 and this week’s is the Fiat 131 Abarth Rally. As for next week? Who knows (well, I know, but you’ll have to tune in to find out). That’ll do it for now – good luck out there on the road. – PJ F1® MOBILE RACING Already have F1 withdrawal symptoms as we await another trip around the Spielberg mountains? Don’t worry – F1® Mobile Racing is here, free to play on handheld devices, whenever and wherever you need a fix of official F1 action. Plus, it’s complete with all the 2020 drivers, teams, race helmets and circuits! Follow that new-season update, we’ve also just rolled out a new patch with further gameplay improvements, based on community feedback – so there’s never been a better time to jump in, download and play for free on Android or iOS Live right now, we have the 2020 Championship GP Event – our unique global event that mimics the revised 2020 World Championship Calendar in a multi-round test of skill and endurance. Be the best at Austria, Hungary, Britain, Spain, Belgium and Italy for big prizes. Fancy something even more frantic? From now until July 31, our Street Circuit GP Event is also open to all players, featuring the new Vietnam track alongside Monaco, Singapore and Azerbaijan. Good luck! – Chris ANY OTHER BUSINESS? You’ve heard of the Racing Line, but have you heard of Racing Ahead? Racing Ahead is our content creator partnership program. We team up with a handful of YouTubers and streamers to give you a sneak peek into what’s coming up in the future with Codemasters games. Our Racing Aheaders – as we fondly call them – have been all over F1 2020 ahead of the launch this week, with many getting their first look at the new My Team mode. Tiametmarkduk took plenty of time in setting up his team before getting a good result in his first race of the season, whereas Aarav took a different approach tasking his subscribers to pick his engine supplier, team name, and even team colours. Earlier in the month, some Racing Aheaders were lucky enough to get their hands on a very early build of DIRT 5, despite it not being out until October! ShinyOdd’s hilarious video went over the history of the DIRT franchise right up to DIRT 5 and Jeff Favignano’s reaction at seeing DIRT 5’s dynamic weather transition to thundersnow for the first time is not to be missed. Keep an eye on our socials where we’ll continue to share some of the latest and greatest Racing Ahead videos and streams around with the hashtag #RacingAhead. 22. You’ve been patiently waiting but it’s finally here. GRID Season 3 arrives on Xbox One, PS4, and PC via Steam on April 15th and is coming soon to Stadia. Following on from the Hot Hatchbacks of Season 1 and the Track Day Supercars of Season 2, we’re kicking into overdrive with six dream drives and of course, a new circuit too. Ultimate Edition players will get access to Season 3, as soon as it’s available and those with the base game will have some extra additions for free. The Cars As mentioned in the Season 3 overview video, there’s only one word to describe the cars featured in GRID Season 3 – fast. Here’s your line-up: We know you’re going to love tearing up the track in these incredible machines. For Ultimate Edition and Season 3 owners, each of these cars will be available in all game modes. For all GRID players, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport will be available as a loan car in Multiplayer modes. On top of these stunning Hypercars, we have a pair of incredible bonus cars – available to everyone no matter which version of GRID you’re playing on. These two Super GT icons are a blast to drive and sound just as good as they look. Both of these cars will be available to purchase and race for all GRID players in Freeplay and Multiplayer modes. The Track Now, the track. Loved by drivers and fans alike with its snaking corners and old-school aesthetic, you’ll be flying to Japan to get to grips with the Suzuka Circuit. A traditional track by all accounts, Suzuka Circuit will challenge your skill under pressure with its intricate corners and long and sweeping curves, many of which can be taken flat-out, if you dare. Here’s Matthew Battison, Lead Level Designer, on what makes Suzuka Circuit so special: “This is the first time that the Suzuka Circuit has featured in the GRID Series, what took us so long?! Over the years, Suzuka Circuit has been heralded as one of the most demanding and rewarding circuits in the world. Drivers rate this track highly, we do too, so we know GRID players will as well. Suzuka Circuit features almost every type of corner from the famous Esses at the start of the lap to Spoon Curve and the infamous 130R corner at the end of the lap – don’t forget it’s also a figure of eight configuration. It’s not just the full Grand Prix circuit that you can expect to play, we have also included the East and West Courses for you to enjoy too.” No matter which of the six route variations you choose to race on, each of the nine weather and time of day conditions will be at the disposal of all GRID players. Customisation Additions As with Seasons 1 and 2, we’ve also added a bunch of new customisation items to GRID for those with GRID Ultimate Edition. ● 14 new liveries ● Six new livery patterns ● Five new player cards ● Five new player banners Five of the liveries are unlocked by default but you’ll have to work to unlock through the Career to unlock the rest of the customisation additions – we didn’t want to make things too easy. Credit Boosts for Freeplay and Multiplayer Along with the cars, Career events, and customisation items that are added with Season 3, we’ve been hard at work to make some tweaks and changes to everyone’s GRID experience. Building on the recent Community Update that aimed to address GRID player feedback, we’ve continued to make adjustments, with the community at the heart of these decisions. Here’s Game Designer, Kelly Boyle, on the changes that we’ve made to Credit payouts with Season 3: “For Season 3, we’ve tackled an issue that the community has brought up with regards to currency awards in Freeplay and Multiplayer – we were told they were too low. Our awesome Dev QA team jumped on the case to verify these findings and collect some sample data to work with. With this information, Alex (one of our coders) and I, dove into the matrix to find the problem. After a bit of back-and-forth, we came up with a much better solution than originally in place which we hope you’ll all appreciate! Credit rewards for Freeplay and Multiplayer (including Private Lobbies, Public Lobbies, and Quickmatch) have been substantially increased. As a part of this process, we’ve also rebalanced currency payouts for these modes too. What this means is that whilst getting that 1st place actually gets you something worthwhile, for those occasions where you don’t quite make it you’ll still be rewarded appropriately.” To give you a feel for how different these changes are, the reward values are anywhere between four to more than ten times their previous amount. In Freeplay and Multiplayer, depending on the intensity of the assists you use you’ll see differences in the credits you’re awarded. As you gradually turn down stability control, traction control, and anti-lock baking assists you’ll earn higher and higher rewards. Plus, the more impressive the car, the more impressive the Credit reward – you won’t earn the same for winning a race in a Mini Miglia Challenge as you would in an Acura DPi. We hope these changes make those battles between AI in Freeplay and friends and strangers in Multiplayer that bit more interesting. New Achievements Finally, many GRID Ultimate Edition players have been asking for new achievements/trophies to go along with each of the seasons that have been released. Up until this point, we haven’t been able to add any new achievements – that ends now. Here’s Game Designer, Bradley Whelan, with some info around these additions: “In Season 3, nine brand new achievements for GRID Ultimate Edition owners have been added to the game. These achievements are based on beating pre-set lap times with certain track and car combinations. These achievements range in difficulty from easy to challenging – this way, they are accessible to our broad range of players so that everyone has something feasibly beatable from the offset. Don’t feel as if the challenging achievements are going to be too hard to beat if you’re a new player as the times have been designed so that with time, practice, and development they are achievable, therefore even more satisfying when you snag them.” We spoke to True Achievements who were able to exclusively reveal exactly what you’ll need to do to add these achievements/trophies to your collection. We really hope you enjoy the changes and additions that come with GRID Season 3. 23. Up until now we’ve given you a glimpse at the incredible cars you’ll have the keys to in DIRT 5, promising a vehicle selection that’s all about variety and action, including some machines you’ve never seen the likes of in a DIRT title. Today, it’s time to dive a little deeper into all that goodness! Closer to launch we’ll have a full list of every car in DIRT 5, but let’s not wait until then to show you every car class you’ll find in our amplified off-road racer. You ready? Let’s take a walk through an extreme off-road showroom… Cross Raid Built specifically to overcome tough terrain, our Cross Raid class combines speed, strength and durability for some truly awesome trucks, including the Volkswagen Race Touareg 3 and the Laffite G-Tec X-Road, making its video game debut! Rock Bouncer Huge wheels, mad suspension, a big rollcage, and that’s about it. Oh, and you’re in the middle of it all. DIRT 5’s rock bouncer is purpose-built to conquer the most intimidating terrain. Use its traction, acceleration and flat-out stubbornness to beat all obstacles in our most extreme events. Formula Off Road This class houses our monstrous WS Auto Racing Mudclaw – a true off-road beast with huge ridged tyres and incredible power. Ideal for DIRT 5’s Stampede events, the Formula Off Road class is where you go for something capable of traversing just about anything – and fast. Rally Cross A staple of DIRT games, the cars in our rally cross class are designed for all-terrain speed and getting sideways as soon as possible. Perfect for our tighter circuits and twisty corners, the likes of the Peugeot 208 WRX and Citroen C3 R5 can turn on a dime and go from 0-60 almost as quickly. Classic Rally Roll back the years with iconic machines that popularised the concept of going fast and flat-out on any possible terrain. From the Fiat 131 Abarth Rally, to the Porsche 924 GTS Rallye, these off-road heroes will remind you that age is but a number with some serious power and performance. 80s Rally A golden age of off-road racing, no DIRT game would be complete with some of the most successful off-road cars of the 1980s. We’re combining series favourites such as the Ford RS200, with incredible newcomers like the Porsche 959 Prodrive Rally Raid, for a class that just gets better over time. 90s Rally Relive a time when off-road truly went mainstream, and recreate rivalries with the Subaru Impreza S4 and Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI. We’re also giving some love to the more pint-sized extreme machines of the 1990s – keep an eye out for those! Rally GT Even the most refined GT cars built for tarmac can’t help but get DIRTy. The Rally GT class brings you these desirable cars kitted out with off-road specs, including the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT-4, and Porsche 911 R-GT. Sprint The DIRT 5 class dedicated to our truly incredible sprint car, sporting wheels of all different sizes, huge wings and 900bhp – perfect to rip up dirt oval tracks and get sideways. A unique class for a unique racing experience. Pre Runners Think of the best road-going SUVs and all-purpose vehicles. Now think of them draped on off-road kit and suped up for extreme racing. That’s the Pre-Runners class, featuring incredible race-ready versions of the Aston Martin DBX and Cadillac Escalade 2020. Unlimited Trucks. Big trucks. Trucks built for the most demanding off-road events in the world. Trucks that’ll give you the confidence to floor it and power over all the rugged terrain DIRT 5 has to offer. Jump in the Jimco Unlimited Truck, Brenthel Industries Unlimited Truck and more and show the most challenging events who’s really in charge. Super Lites Low on excess weight, high on action, these rockets have power-to-weight ratios that’ll make your eyes water. Have fun taming the Ariel Nomad Tactical, Exomotive Exocet Off-Road, and more. These compact cars are built for all-terrain speed and an all-out assault on the senses. The car classes for DIRT 5 are a huge part of DIRT 5’s focus on fun, variety and extreme action. Stuart Boyd, Producer on DIRT 5, explains more: “Variety is a massive part of our vision for DIRT 5, and we’ve made sure that this is represented in the game’s car classes and car roster. One moment, you’re tackling the most challenging terrain in a huge rock bouncer; the next, you’re blasting through a multi-surface circuit race with rallycross cars heavy on speed and grip; and then you’re carving a path through jungle-like routes with lively buggies and unlimited trucks. “Of course, alongside those new vehicles and classes, we had to bring in some iconic off-road cars that no DIRT game would be complete without. The style, vibe and features of DIRT 5 mean that you can take those legendary cars and race them in a totally new experience. You may’ve been behind the wheel of some of these beasts before – but not in a game like DIRT 5. “Combine that car classes with our 10 brand new locations, huge slate of event types, and dynamic extreme weather which completely transforms the handling and gameplay feel. The amount of different experiences to drive in just goes off the scale – we can’t wait for you take it all for a spin!” We’ll be revealing more cars and more screenshots of these car classes in action as we race towards DIRT 5’s launch, beginning on October 9 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, followed shortly by Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
