  1. Prime example for 2014, Steve Hood said there wont be career numbers for the driver because he didnt feel it would add to the game. Perfect example of the obtuse mentality over at Codemasters

Please cm!not another toca to grid?!!!

"then they decided to go for the money option and chase the silly game bandwagon instead of the thorough bred motorsport base"  You just described Codemasters current F1 series in a nutshell.

    Pick a team....any team!!

Maybe not during the first season but in the later seasons. I can already imagine how annoying it will be to be at Ferrari and have Räikkönen as a team mate who will probably struggle to even get a point. Codemasters AI are completely unrealistic anyway. In my F1 2013 Alonso is the dominant driver constantly getting pole and winning races. Did they even watch the season?!? Alonso had a horrible car and hasnt had a dry pole position for years! And Mercedes perform way too strong, if it were realistic they qualify highly and drop back with excessive rear tyre wear.

Career AI have fully developed cars from race 1

^^^ yeah career modes pointless. It could have had potential and the overall concept is good but the sheer lack of creativity means that its essentially 5 seasons with your choice of name and helmet colour

No other aspect of Codefarcesters interpretation of Formula 1 is realistic so I dont see how this should be any different. If you want to take the moral high ground and drive as Vettels team mate thats your choice, the point is people should be free to make that choice. and if your names Pastor Maldonado and your paying to the tune of £60m worth of Venezuelan oil money annually, and have friends in high places such as hugo chavez and officials from corrupt south american communist governments im fair sure you could make any demands you want without even having to pull a knife or gun.
  6. This was excellent, you've said everything Ive been trying to say except with much more class and eloquance than id be able to muster from witin my cranial capacity.. If only Geoff Crammond was still making F1 games, RIP

    Kerb Issue

Yes. The players car seems to swing on an axis that virtually guarantees you are going to spin if any part of your vehicle makes contact with virtually any object other than perfectly flat black tarmac
  8. Well let's hope they have included all of these but from what codemasters have said so far i'm not too confident. We'll be rotting in our graves before Codefarcesters put this stuff in. Theyve made no attenpt at realism in the past so I cant see how thats going to change for the future.  They know hardcore fans will be tempted into it regardless so all they have to do is appeal to the kid/casual/new to the sport market and its a guaranteed cash cow for Codefarcesters

Career AI have fully developed cars from race 1

Honestly the game never should have ha these problems anyway. Aside from the graphics, these games have failed to live up to modern standards/expectations.. sadly I dont have much hope for the new titles either. For what its worth, theres no real difference between Career mode and GP mode anyway, I mean you cant view any meaningful Career stats your just driving around in circles trying to beat your team mate and rival, a season finishes and your're fresh into a new one. Overall a rather pointless and immature experience when you boil it down

    Camera Positioning

Yeah thats the one, it was actually pretty realistic.. If you lost control you could be involved in some pretty serious incidents, i had one that almost wiped out 3/4 of the field.. the replays were awesome too, I used to love watching the crashes from heli cam.. pretty sure you could save the replays too. Very very solid DOS game

    Driver Market in Career

    Pick a team....any team!!

If not, then Codemasters have Taken what was initially a good decision and got it horribly horribly wrong. But there are plenty of people willing to jump to their defence citing "licensing issues" or whatever other PR dept politically correct environmentally friendly response would suffice
  14. They've given zero effort towards any sort of realism whatsoever so I cant see how the next ones will be any different. All they care about is wooing little kids with pretty graphics and making the games "accessible" to "casual gamers" or "people new to the sport"...

    Camera Positioning

How about a proper TV style directors cut for replays? and the ability to view a 1min replay at any time in a race from any car or camera angle so you can track whats going on. Or helicopter cam to replay a battle. Its a joke that these games dont have a normal tv style replay, I had an Indianapolis 500 game from the early 90's that had a more advanced replay system than codemasters F1

    Camera Positioning

Completely agree with you there. All the classic cars on F1 2013 I use with cockpit cam. As you say, the T-cams feel wrong on the older cars. Totally agree with this, I honestly beleive this needs to be changed.. but may have more to do with the geometry of modern F1 cars than Codemasters interpretation of the cockpit angles. All the F1 cars pre 1998 were wider and really seemed spread across the track like a spider, the front wheels werent as far forward and they generally seemed to have a shorter wheelbase and more width. Those cars from say 1988 - 1997 were far more aesthetically pleasing, especially before high noses started becoming mainstream. The FIA should steer toward those dimensions for the future, with all the gimmicks these days I doubt it would spoil the action and the cars would be visually more attractive and look more dangerous
  17. <stock-cm-answer> "Not at this time but I'll let you know if that changes." </stock-cm-answer> We've approached FOM about this before. It's not possible right now. Erm,yeh,ok,so tell us why, stop the bs! This seems to be the closest guarded secret regarding the world of F1 over the last few years.. Its not as if Bernie's holding them at knifepoint ready to start slitting throats if they tell us the secret of the hud

    The "Moaning"

and no ones mentioning Microprose, no one gives a flying fu¢k about the publisher or developer.. too many fanboys out there brainwashed toward brand loyalty. Why do you think Codemasters have steered away from making their F1 games look and feel like an F1 product? They dont want the game to lose its "Codemasters" feel, its all about brand recognition for them. Look at Milestones recent MotoGP games... buggy as hell with borderline PS2 graphics but no one complains, because the games have heart and soul and are clearly geared toward fans of MotoGP and many people who werent fans before playing the game are fans now because the game captures the essence of the sport, something Codemasters have consistantly failed to do

    The "Moaning"

...and the fact that a loyal and passionate community thrives to this day despite all the shortfalls pays testament to the quality of those games. It does, but that's all pretty much no thanks to Microprose. But I don't remember them getting half the abuse for buggy releases, inaccurate liveries etc. that CM come in for these days. Thats because the Grand Prix series was purely balls out Formula 1 with no gimmicks.. people were willing to overlook the plethora of bugs because the games were (and still are) simply that good.. the console games of the era (and to an extent now, frankly) were a horrible "arcade" affair and completely watered down of any substance in comparison to the Grand Prix series. The reason Codemasters are copping so much flack is because they never got the core gameplay down before adding pointless gimmicks. The push toward the casual market doesnt help keep the hardcore fans happy either. I dont buy the BS about sims being inaccessible, thats what assists and AI difficulty levels are for
  20. I can understand what your saying, the game was buggy as hell.. but you must admit, the AI was fantastic and the substance of the game was absolute quality. I used to select no drivers and just watch the AI race on screen sometimes. This even goes back to GP2, that game was just pure brilliance. I know it sounds like a case of rose tinted glasses but I promise you if I could get a decent PC which was DOS compatible and could run GP2 at its optimum performance id never touch another Codies game again, I swear to you thats the god honest truth...

Thank you for the response @Hatta‌ , appreciated. So to confirm, FOM will not give the green light for this to go ahead? Or if by "right now" you are implying its not happening on old gen 2014 with out saying in as many words that it will be featured in "2015" current gen's game? Thankyou

    The "Moaning"

Thats because we love Formula 1. We dont give a flying fu¢k about Codemasters, and they know that the hardcore fans of the sport will always side with heart over head no matter how many time they get screwed over in the process.. Thats why Codemasters put so much emphasis to making the games accessible to kids and people who dont follow the sport while all the purists hand over their money regardless I'm sorry but being a fan of a sport does not mean you have to buy the game. I'm a big football fan, but I'm not stupid enough to buy FIFA every year where there are very little changes. If you don't like the game and don't feel Codies are listening to you, make them listen and don't buy it. Don't be stupid and blame someone else that you bought a game I stand up for what I love, and that is F1. I dont know if you're a fan of the sport but judging from your responses you far more about Codemasters feelings than the disservice they are doing to such a prestigious license. Codemasters looked at the opportunity to get the F1 license and saw $$$$$$, hardcore fans are a drop in the pool for Codemasters target audience, thats why everything they've conjured up over the last 4 years seems tailored to kids
