if this is true, it only supports my view that CM simply have not focused  the target on getting the basics right .....

awful QC if this can be consistently replicated ......
Well it's been consitently replicated since F1 2011 and no one said anything for the last 3 years.

Mustn't be much to complain about this year as we're really starting to clutch at straws aren't we?

This is R&D, doesnt affect an online race, doesnt affect GP mode. doesnt affect qualifying, doesnt affect TT.

The tyres change after you complete or fail and R&D test. Boo bloody hoo.
Oh, i got it ........since its a 3 year old bug, CM gets a free pass in your view. Great marketing strategy: "F1 2014; hey, at least there are no NEW bugs !!!!".
That will surely create confidence in F1 2015
    LOL

You'd be correct.......................If it was a bug and not a design feature!

Just out of interest do real F1 cars have any sort of traction control now?
    Banned in 2009.

I'm really gonna have to have a go on the pad. I'll naturally be slower with it as I've used the wheel for so long but I need to get a taste of what all the fuss is about with the pad.  If it's how I picture it from the descriptions on this forum then it sounds too easy, but then as I say I have no idea right now.

I agree mate 12 had it right with damaging your engine with quick downshifts but sadly most of the vids on youtube ppl still do this and with rear brake bias also. Like you I feel the rear stepping out under heavy breaking and that with down shifting when I feel I should so guess that me lacking skill compared with them and not the game being that much better this year (shifting) There is something off when it comes to braking imo as it does seem like you can brake as hard as you like and not have any wheels stop rotating. I was spectating my m8 earlier in coop around hungary and he broke at the 50m board (turn 1) and just turned in whilst still breaking all the way around the corner, he was using abs but that should never be possible with or without abs

Fair enough, that shouldnt happen. Those tyres should be locked up so much theyd have exploded with a move like that IRL.
  5. Best game yet for actual driving.

Wet weather is broken. AI driving around like its still dry.

Difficulty is much better. I havent won a race on legend without a Merc.

If they patched the weather and experience for pad users the game would be almost flawless, although still a bit of a rip off.

I would wait till Christmas. Patches will be released by then and the price would represent something more suitable to a copy and paste rush job.
  6. 2013 braking was broken. Had to brake 50 metres before the cars in real life. Locked up if you went hard on the brakes for too long (No relation to load, just like it was simply on a timer)

Brake lock ups are not really that common IRL when you think about it. You'll see one or two per driver over a whole weekend.

I think it's better this year, but everyone is their own judge on these matters so what I like others won't.  I can deal with it if they made more lock ups, but would like them to keep throttle control, wheelspin and weight transfer the same and even go as far as to say the engines are too durable but as we've learned in 2012, breaking your engine because it was abused is not a popular game feature. I loved it.

They're gonna dumb it down with a patch aren't they?

Just like they did with the engines in 2012.

They made a great driving model that emulates driving a high powered open wheeler and now they're gonna dumb it down because of the vocal minority that want an arcade game.

    Sick.
Dumb it down? There is a thing called traction control and very easy mode, this game can't get dumbed down anymore. What we are talking about here is the fact the throttle doesn't feel right and could be due to vysnc or fps glitches or just simply issues with comparability with the logitech wheels since there have been several issues in the past and still occur now. I play gamestockcar, project cars, rfactor and gran turismo, trust me I don't want the game dumbed down lol
Yeah I've seen your YT channel. Used to watch it quite a lot actually, still do from time to time.

Just seems this year there is a lot of complaining about the sensitive throttle and amount of wheelspin and I'll be gutted if they patch it out.

If its a specific wheel problem then I don't know, but if it's the actual degree of wheelspin and throttle control that is coded in to the game that is the problem then I want that to stay the same.

Last turn at Melbourne and Suzuka is a nightmare. Thats how its supposed to be, nothing to do with the wheel. I'm on Xbox 360 with MS wheel.

Id agree with your points on the handling when it comes to no assists but what about those who play with them and are on rails? Whilst the handling is the best part of the game imo the advantage AI/ppl get using tc and abs have is unreal and a total killer for online racing. Imo the tc needs looking at in the game as it not only gives great traction it is without doubt a stability control 2! Lol on the go kart comment! you must drive some powerfull go karts if you think ppl couldnt drive them without tc :)
Go-Karts are weak and easy to drive. Maybe the easiest vehicle type on the planet after a bicycle. That was the joke.

I'm not to sure about the TC as I use a wheel no assists. I understand there needs to be a patch for pad users but thats separate I suppose.

I was just really annoyed when in 2012 the engine blew if you abused it and they patched it out 'cos all the whining little brats wouldn't adapt and learn to actually drive the damn car. I just hope we don't have the same with this years ''Waaaah, the wheel spin is too much'' crowd. Make them learn to drive the game instead of giving them a free pass like in 2012.

What about lock-ups? I still haven't bought the game yet but I'm waiting to see if CM will patch this in. I've heard numerous complaints that it's nearly impossible to lock-up the brakes.
It's not. The rears lock up a lot more. This seems to be because Codies have improved the physics so that forward load in heavy braking zones actually happens. There didn't seem to be any change in weight load in previous versions but this one seem,s to have got it pretty accurate.

If you don't adjust your brake balance and go in to a heavy braking zone your rears will lock, many just don' t notice this because they drive with T-Cam so cant see the rears and because a lot of them have zilch idea of what locking the rear feels like they automatically see no locked fronts and assume theres no brake locking at all.

Fronts lock more with rear bias in light braking zones before fast turns. Rears lock more in heavy braking zones before slow speed turns.
  9. Great car handling this year. So hard to get a consistent pace. You have to actually pay attention for every turn, great stuff.

None of this flying through slow turns in high revs with the engine screaming malarkey (They tried to rectify that in 2012 by blowing your engine but the children they did cry about it so they patched that out)
None of this braking too late and revving from 8th to 2nd in a millisecond, that'll just break your rear traction with the forward load. It's just great. Completely neutralised 90% of idiots that think driving an F1 car is like driving around on Trackmania.

Driving on the grass will spin you out.....Fantastic. No more going wide and just sticking in to the throttle and not losing any speed at all whilst rallying on grass.  Parabolica a fine example.

Please don't dumb it down for the arcade lovers. If they want an arcade game there's lots. Don't patch out the elements that make the game realistic just for a few, vocal minority people that couldn't drive a go-kart with TC.

There needs to be a patch, especially for the game breaking AI wet pace, but thats all. Please don't touch the handling.
  10. I've never gotten a penalty unless all 4 wheels are beyond the white lines, try learning to position the car better......
Try Algarve, just drive onto the kerbs on your corner exit, and see if you get a penalty.
Some points, you can get a penalty for touching the kerb, not having all 4 wheels off the track.

Sepang, has a hairpin, and a sharp left turn, on the sharp left turn there is a pole, and if you stay to the right of the pole, maybe clip the pole you only have 2 wheels on the kerb, and it corner cuts you, everytime.

    There are many others,

Telling someone to position themselves better isnt actually the answer in 100%of penalties.

CM should follow the system used by Forza, and just mark the lap a dirty if all 4 wheels leave the track. Not cut your speed down, for 10 secs, for a 0.1s infringement of track edges.

If someone does an @fanticUA cheater style, and cut every piece of track, they should have the lap marked as dirty, and their speed reduced.  I believe in Forza, if you go so deep into the grass, then you end up on sticky grass.  So a massive cut of half the track isnt possible at any speed that would do you any favours in any situation.

5:30  I get a penalty for avoiding a collision.  I even let off the throttle.  Race ruined.
    http://youtu.be/qnfLULvPUVg

I only watched up to the penalty. Thats all I needed to see.

You extended the track 3 times in the first sector, 5 times in the first lap and you complain about the legitimate penalty you did get?

As for the caption on the screen........How did you gain time?

Well if you'd gave slowed down to stay within the track limits you would have lost time wouldn't you? But you didn't, you kept in the throttle and extended (The 7th extension in only 1 lap and 4 turns I may add)

For someone so vocal about driving standards....Yours are low.

However, on a positive. Your racecraft is excellent.
  11. I just tested this with next door neighbour.......Co-Op not playable over LAN.

I have no intentions of even playing LAN....I literally untangled the wires behind the TV, uprooted my Xbox, took it to someone else house and tested this all for you........

Still, as I am typing, I have no idea why I just did that  :D

I didn't say I can't use one lol. But unless you want to pay 2x as much for a PC that only matches the PS4 in power, you're gonna want to build it yourself. And even though it is (In my opinion anyway) easy to put one together, you still have to make sure you buy compatible parts. Then there is drivers etc. (still not that hard, but still more of a hassle than consoles)

If you want to over pay, or if you pretend the build process doesn't exist, then yeah its just as easy.

lll never really get the arguments anyway. Both have advantages and disadvantages and both NEED to coexist to get the best games.
Well it's not. If my brother can play games on it the. Anyone can. He's 28 but knows nothing about settings and bla bla bla. It's as simple as console gaming these days, Nvidia has a program that will set all the settings for you so you don't even have to mess about for ages looking at what your PC can handle. I like my consoles to but when there's a problem you can't do anything about it, atleast on PC you can work around problems ;)

I have to be honest, I usually can't stand the way PC gamers talk down to people. If he says it's too complicated and too much hassle for him then thats what he's decided and you can't tell him his opinion is wrong, as no opinion is wrong.

However......That being said........Not being able to use a PC in 2014 is like not being able to read a book in 1974. You are illiterate in the modern world.

I see where your frustration stems from, everyone should know how to use a PC. And Steam makes it so easy.....But there's just people that haven't realised yet that if you're PC illiterate, you're 21st century illiterate.
What frustration? You've got me all wrong.... I'm not just a PC gamer, I also have X1/PS4 and wii u and wasn't trying to force anyone to game on PC, I'm not sure where you got that from  :|  And I'm not sure how I was talking down to him, this is why I don't normally post in this part of the forum, as people take what others are saying completely out of context.

To the person who posted after. Actually it doesn't cost twice as much. Places like overclockers.co.uk charge roughly £20 more if you want them to build it, so no it doesn't cost twice as much ;) . It's what I'll probably have to do for my next build due to a medical condition
My whole comment came across wrong....

End of the day I think PC...Or at least Steambox, will be the future.

Maybe there will be another generation of consoles......But why?

  14. There is something out there that is going to kill codemasters off, and kill them off soon, within 2 years at a rough estimate.

But it's not Pcars. Or Assetto Corsa, or The Crew, or Driveclub.

    No.......

The company that will kill of Codemasters..........Is Codemasters.

I don't want Codies to go under, but maybe for alternative reasoning: GRID A/S has proven that these people have no idea what they're doing. That Southam studio is just jam packed with incompetence and people that are just outright bad at their chosen career. But it's cool.....Because we know who they are and what they are releasing.

What happens if Codies dies? All these useless programmers and clueless devs will be spread out in to the gaming world. They'll obviously want new jobs, and they'll all spread and dilute the studios that manage to make an at least playable game. It'll be like a cancer to gaming, a disease released from a vial and spread across the gaming studios.

At least with Codies releasing games regularly, no matter how bad, we are safe in the knowledge that the people that work there are all in one place and we don't have to buy their games. If they get let go...Well then it's a crapshoot on where they end up, and I'd rather these people aren't involved in anything worth buying (Although if it's worth buying no one from CM has been within 100 miles of it anyway)
Imagine one of them going to Slightly Mad or Reiza or Polyphony, God it would be a massacre of gaming.

The only people worth their salt in that whole company are the community managers. They won't need a C.V to get a new job. Just send a prospective employer a link to the CM forum and they'll see how they have to manage hundreds of customers that their employer has made angry. I'd employ any of them just off that alone.
  15. Just stop. Leave the game alone. PLEASE don't break it anymore than you have.

Game released in unplayable state on 24th June. Patch that made it playable came out 2 months later. Second patch then breaks the game again.

Game has been out for coming up 4 months, and in that time it's been playable for 1 of those months.

So please codies, revert back to before this most recent patch that freezes the game, then step back, walk away, turn around, JUST STOP BREAKING GAMES!

F1 2014 definitely not a done deal for me now, as it was a couple of days ago. Sorry Birmingham office, but Southam give you such a bad name.

Now you are just trolling and we do not feed the trolls here, also accusing someone of cheating that does not cheat is called 'Slander' in the UK and is a  defamation of character which is a libellous offence and can have serious consequences, I would be very careful who you accuse in future.
    Haha....I love these comments.

    Slander. HA!!

Ok matey, you get yourself down to the local police station and tell them someone called you a cheat on an arcade racing forum......Do me a favour....Record the reaction. I've never seen a room full of police officers laugh someone out of the station, would be YouTube gold.

Look how twitchy it is to drive with a console controller.   People who don't drive with a wheel are crazy.

    If you say so
I say more than that.  I say only Chavs drive with a console controller.
Sadly for you I'd drive circle around you with a controller. The fact that you dont have the finesse to use a controller properly does not  mean no one else has.
HA!!! Finesse. I was gonna stay out of this and just let you have at it until you got all arrogant and frankly delusional.

What finesse? you have steering assist. You should bloody run rings around people with a controller. you flick a switch left or right and get the exact perfect amount of steering angle for every single turn on the track no matter what the lock, if you're not beating a wheel with a controller you should probably give up.

Finesse...HA....Finesse.....hehehehheehe, aaaaah, finesse. Give me a sec to get my breath back. God that was a good'un.
