Hopefully I am not covering already tread territory here....
I am a racing purist, and this feels like a game that doesn't know if it is an arcade game or a simulator.
Why not build a focused Touring Car game, or a focused Open Wheel game etc.
A Touring car game with the actual cars, teams and circuits would be amazing. You have the right sentiment here, but have executed it poorly. Such a game could run from the early days of Lotus Cortinas against Mini Coopers (the real deal of course, a Mk 1 and not the Mk 2 as you have in the game), or twin cam escorts against Vauxhall Firenza's etc through to WSR's BMW 1 series of today or the full V8 Supercar Championship. Christal Palace, Cadwell, Mallory - where are they?
Similarly the Formula 1 franchise could be elaborated on to include GP2 and 3 to establish a more career oriented open wheel game.
I am sure the arguments for not doing this are surrounding cost and licencing, but these certainly are games I would buy, and frankly Grid Autosport's lack of identity has meant my interest is waning.
On a positive note however, I did play the original Colin McRae rally this week after about 15 years. Still as good as I remember it!
