Can we have an option for commentary audio volume. When you come to the end of the race etc and Crofty starts speaking its deafening, its so loud, much louder than the in game volume. A slider for commentary volume would be good or even if you can just decrease crofty and Davidsons overall audio level

There is already a slider for speech. All speech is balanced to the same level so if you're finding anything to be inconsistent this is a bug that has slipped through the cracks. Crofty and Ant aren't mixed purposly to be "much louder" than other speech.

  2. Hello guys,

I'm going to need a good MOR on this one. We've had a listen on both headphones and in our mix studio and the crowd is actually pretty well balanced, certainly not like the attached video. This is either a bug or we've already addressed this mix issue in one of the patches since launch.

Are you still finding this issue? If so what's your setup, platform, any specific audio options you've used etc...

    1. Make sure F1 2020 is not running
    2. Connect the headphones to the PS4 (through controller or USB)
    3. Open the PS4 dashboard, “Settings” à “Audio devices”
    4. "Output device" should be set to "Headphones" or "Headset" or similar"
    5. “Output to Headphones” should be set to “Chat Audio”
    6. Now start the game, go into the “Game Options”, select “Settings” and then “Audio Settings”
    7. Set “Radio output device” to “Headset” – you should hear Jeff talking through your headset while the game audio still plays on your main speakers
    8. Leave the options menu and enjoy the game!

  3. Hello guys, are any of you experiencing this in single player or is this online multiplayer only?

@Thund3r4s issue seems something more like a performance issue with the by product being audio drop outs and frame rate drops outs. Is this what everybody else is also finding?

Hi there. First I would like to apologise for the outburst in earlier posts. My intention is not to diminish the work you guys do. I'm sure you can understand how frustrating it is when we hand over hard earned money for a product that isn't working correctly.

As for evidence, the only game clip I have is larger than the file size limit on this forum. Is there an email I can send the clip to? Details are:

Xbox one x using astro a50 gen 4 headset, also using fanatec v2.5 wheelbase and McLaren gt3 wheel.

The game is in a multiplayer online race.

Hello @Thund3r4, yes we are all gamers too and we are human so we too get frustrated by bugs in the games that we play too 🙂. I'm here to help try and figure out your problems though so lets see what we can do. Codies don't insist that I communicate with players on the forums, I do it because I genuinly care about my job and the work the audio team has done. I want constructive polite feedback from the forums, keep that coming and I'll keep communicating 👍

I think emailing me a wetransfer link would be a good start. We've done some investigation on this issue yesterday and we think this might be some assets that appear to sound like "crackling" rather than actual "crackling" issues. Without having heard what you guys are hearing though we cant be sure we are talking about the same thing. Let me DM you and we can discuss sending files over.

  5. As mentioned, we are looking into this but I'll be honest, I've never reproduced this so far and I'm working on headphones quite often at the moment.
I'd suggest anybody who can 100% reproduce this issue should send me some more details, in particular the headset you are using it, your audio settings, platform you are playing on and what game mode you are in.

@Thund3r4 You are welcome to your opinion, but I assure you the audio team are not sitting here doing a "copy & paste" year on year. We are constantly working on the game and are immensely passionate about our job and the game. My team and I want to be proud of the products we put out and I think we generally do a good job. We haven't heard the "crackling audio" bug ourselves and don't have a firm MOR in order to even begin fixing it, we will continue to investigate however and if we do find it we'll look into a fix. If you're willing to be courteous and polite I'll talk to you further to discuss any audio issues, including this one to see if we can nail it down.

  6. Hello @azombie1223 🙂

Brilliant, glad you can offer us some feedback. I totally agree about the Jeff processing toggle. In terms of subtitles, its not strictly an audio issue so there's nothing I can do to fix this but I'm certainly going to raise this as an issue to hopefully get it resolved at some point in the future.

One possible option I thought about was whether it is worth having a toggle to switch on audio beeps when AI cars are next to you, much like we do with the visuals at the moment in the form of arrows. I know some people complain AI cars are too loud while others complain they are too quiet and I wonder if anything like this affects people with hearing difficulties or whether the visual indication alone is enough?

  7. Hi guys. I'm very conscious of opening the flood gates on here and not being able to deliver on what every individual wants but I'm looking for feedback and suggestions for our audio options. We'd like to cater for as many players as possible, particularly those with disabilities who may currently struggle with certain audio aspects of our game. I cannot promise all or any of your suggestions will be incorporated in F1 2020 or a future game, but I'd really like to gather some general feedback on what you may find useful. For example, a player recently started a reddit thread about Jeff being too difficult to hear due to his current processing. I'd be interested in adding a toggle to turn on/off his radio processing so those of you who want a more authentic race engineer can do that but anybody who finds that particularly difficult to hear can remove the processing altogether and have arguable a less authentic but a more accessible experience.

I've gone into detail in the past over why we don't want to include 50 different level faders to adjust every element of the game so we're not after those kinds of suggestions.

    Looking forward to your suggestions.

This is honestly quite disappointing, I was looking forward to the Dutch commentary but I definitely don't want the full game/text in Dutch, I think this goes for most people here in The Netherlands who are used to and prefer English media but still know Olav Mol as the voice of F1.

@issueskid I'm really hoping this is something that can be added in the options?

Hey, yes as above. We're looking into this.

  9. Hello.

We're in the process of discussing many different audio options for quality of life, accessibility, mix etc... We're activly looking at and listening to player feedback. I can't promise we're going to include everything people ask for but we're going to do our best to improve audio options in the future 🙂

So the life-like sound quality went down alot from 2018-2019 (of tires sliding). Not sure of 2020. So I really would like to know why is it difficult to produce reality sound fx ie: engine, tires etc....is it not possible to have hi-def recording loop to play at a certain time..? No hate here, just curious why its so rare to have in-game.

Al engines that we use in game are authentic PUs recorded with the teams themselves and updated yearly. We've also recently recieved feedback from a team who have said the audio is very authentic to what it sounds like while being in the car.

As for the skids, peels etc... these are also taken from real recording sessions. We used to use larger than life skid sounds and they tended to sound quite fake, we ditched them and now use authentic assets take from wheels actually losing grip on various surfaces.

Our aim with the audio design is to always try and be as authentic as possible.

I have a buttkicker Gamer 2, but i have in F1 2020 that only the Right wheels of my F1 car do really rumble when touching the curbs, for example in Austria and Zandvoort. If i touch the Curbs with my Left wheels, it doesnt rumble

Can it be that the sound (that causes the Buttkicker Gamer 2 to rumble) for the Right wheels are different then the one on the Left side?

I am trying to understand why the Buttkicker Gamer 2 react differently on the Right/Left wheels

Ps4 Pro and Broadcast Mix in ON. I don't use Sim Hub or anything  just the Buttkicker connecteded to the Buttkicker Amplifier and then with a optical output converter to the Ps4 Pro

    Thanks

That is interesting, there is no difference between RHS and LHS but the buttkicker works by being fed low frequencies so the broadcast mix might be affecting this. I'll stick in a bug and see if we can investigate this.
