  1. True...Last Indycar game was 2003 by Codemasters... Actually, the last IndyCar game by Codemasters was called "IndyCar Series 2005" according to the box it was released in 2004! This PS2 game was stunning and I loved it but it was let down by the fact that there where no road tracks in the series such as the famous "IndyCar" tracks Watkins Glen, and Laguna Seca! Also strangely for Codemasters when that question was raised by many people (shortly after its release) they actually made a statement to the effect that the "IndyCar series" did not in fact run on road circuits! Odd that they responded! Not odd that they lied in light of the profusion of lies they have told us since! Codemasters can also lay claim to another of my favourite games, namely the brilliant, "NasCar2 06 Total Team Control" in which you could (using a mike) talk to your pit crew and team mates to advise you were coming into the pits, and ask your team mates to assist you things like "Bump Drafting" and dropping back down the field to pace you back to the front, for instance after a pit stop. I am English and I adore Oval racing! "IndyCar 2005" has one of the most comprehensive car set up features I have ever seen including the ability to change tyre pressures for each wheel, In fact springs, dampeners and  ride height were also adjusted for all four corners (wheels) individually. In addition there was a fully functioning flag, cautions and penalty system. and the ability, in the pits to select which tyres would be changed, which damaged parts would be changed and how much fuel would be delivered.  "If done well it would succeed."  If  "IndyCar Series 2005" was re-vamped to the current year and had the missing road tracks added to it I would run to the shops to buy a PS4 and probably a Thrustmasted TSR 500 Wheel with a wheel and peddle stand/rack to boot! This game, if it was re-made completely for the current gen systems  including the road tracks , It is good enough to succeed!  I vote Yes!        I would have to respectfully vote no.  Although I love the Indy cars it would turn out like the F1 games for me.  I love them but after a while I get tired of just vanilla ice cream.  I prefer the variety in GAS, FM series etc.  And with GAS I can run dozens of tracks in my IndyCars.  I run the street tracks all the time in Custom Cup.  Some night scenarios would be nice but I digress.

    The future of grid

A funny thing has happened.  I just noticed that for the last 1-2 mos the only racing games I have been playing are the ones made by CM.  Dirt 3, F1 2013 & GAS.  I recently reread carefully the posts by Santarini about the AI and am giving them even more room to see if they act like gentleman during the races.  I'll get back to you all.  Currently on season 64 in the career mode.

    The future of grid

I know this comment was intended as a tongue in cheek type of thing.  I have lost count the number of times I've tried to run a lobby only to literally wait for the cows to come home.  Then to jump into a room and watch the race timer count the seconds for a race to end while picking my butt (always after I've finished picking my nose though).  It was nice to race with you finally last week.  In this great big world of how many billions (of only 5 or so still play GAS) of people you'd think I could find someone to race with without having to build up my FL first for races.  I too like to get on at odd hours and would like to run some races WHILE waiting for others to jump in.  Even the 2007 game of Race Pro allowed you to run laps while the room got ready.

    The future of grid

CM along with other game developers build in replay obsolescence into their games.  For example:  When trying to run a multiplayer public lobby you have to wait for a 2nd player to enter otherwise you could sit there for literally hours if not forever for a race to start.  And that means no in game credits to buy additional cars, etc.  After most racing games of 3-6 mos. , the lobbies with multiple drivers are few and far between.  Just in time for the developers etc. to come out with another game for us to spend our hard earned money on. One of the nice features that a game like FM4 has (and they are by no means perfect, i.e., no weather or night driving) is that it allows you to run races WHILE waiting for people to jump in.  Many a night I’ve run tons of races with the AI and only a few people have jumped in.  But I was able to run races online instead of sitting there and picking my nose, my butt etc.

    Dirt 2 Race Night!!!!

Too often we complain about what is wrong with a game.  I am no different.  My criticism of Grid Autosport is well documented in these threads.  But I would like to take the time to praise CM for their two other games I have purchased within the last 1 ½ years. First was Dirt 2 and then Dirt 3 about 6 mos. ago.  Both satisfy my off road yearnings that were developed during my Gran Turismo 1,2,3,4 days.  Surprisingly the AI does not in any way act like the drunken morons they do in GAS.  I suspect my opinions would not change even if I paid full price for them.  Dirt 2 cost me $5 dollars and Dirt 3 was $10.  I picked them up during sales promos with my Xbox 360

    The future of grid

Unfortunately, there will be no new Codemasters game in my future.  Being burned by fire (GAS) has forced me to think very hard at throwing good money after bad.  Glitches aside, I consider myself a clean racer and yet I have to disable the damage portion of the career structure in order to run a race series.  Include damage in a game and not enable pit stops!!!!  What were the programmers smoking or drinking when they decided this.  The AI (and I've driven in 54 seasons) act like BCM's (bumper car monkeys).  I recently bought and am playing Race Pro.  A 7 year old game that initially seems to have much of what GAS is/was missing.  Yes, it is a stipped down game.  But I enjoy the LACK of voice overs in the game.  Who cares if Nathan Whatshisname will be replaying our race over in his mind!  And the $7.00 price was easy on my wallet.
  12. Lvl 10 across the board in all disciplines.  Season 58.  About 570 + races.  Mostly on Medium diff.

Everything there is to know about Impact Rating

But be aware you could wait until you are my age before somebody jumps in to run a race with you.  Depending on the time of day, it could be a very long time indeed.
