Remember the Classic DLC for F1 2013? A bunch of classic tracks to mess around on. If - IF - they have the ability, time and money to do this, that would be cool. Seeing as we can now pick and choose which races to include in a career calendar, this could be expanded upon. Although licencing does currently limit this to 'this year's calendar in that order', so probably not. A '2020 DLC' with this year's bonus circuits. I'd buy it.

Game Update | Developer Log | October 2020
s00zster replied to BarryBL's topic in F1® 2020 Game Forum
Have to agree with all of this. Since starting a fresh Driver Career save with the performance patch, I've had identical results - Leclerc & Vettel consistently getting 4ths and 5ths. Worse still, after only 4 races, they have the top engine once more, faster than Mercedes. At that point they started getting poles and podiums. Their laptimes are constantly within 0.5secs of Hamilton. I expected Ferrari to be pants, Leclerc around 6th, Vettel around 12th for two thirds of the season before they were able to work their way back up. Their resurgence has happened waaayyyy too quickly and it feels like the downgrade has been done half-heartedly. A big shame if this was intentional. Vettel himself also needs a big downgrade, the fact he said himself today he can't get anywhere near Leclerc's pace - whether that's due to skill or a drop in morale because Ferrari are releasing him, the fact is the game is trying hard to be viewed as a simulator and the first step to doing that is being accurate with driver and team representation. On the flipside, Racing Point are doing relatively poorly, barely scraping the top 10. It's all upside down. For the record, I'm not anti-Ferrari (Leclerc is one of my favourite drivers and I love Ferrari's history). I just like accuracy, especially when I've held off from playing for over a month on the promise that an accurate update was coming. 😕 -
I didn't actually know this, I thought - as you said - that Strict was "Realistic mode". Good excuse for me to turn it back down (I have had a couple of over-the-top penalties since turning it up).
-
Good luck! It's totally worth it. 👍 I'm currently playing at 96% difficulty which is a level or two outside my comfort zone and I'm keeping it there the whole season - normally I would shift the difficulty to suit the track but this way, if I'm rubbish, then that's me being rubbish. I remember pre-difficulty slider games and the saves were actually really engaging because of the struggle using a set difficulty that was just that bit too high for my skill. Really having to fight for positions and every place gained is a victory (driving for Williams). On top of this, I'm using Elite controls, strict corner cutting, no flashbacks. If you're out, you're out. Heightens the drama.

BREAKING NEWS: Bottas just had an accident in the Dutch GP on my Driver Career save. \o/ He was going round the slow turn 12 and he managed to wheelspin-oversteer into the wall on the left as he accelerated out of the corner. It was quite comical, like someone learning how to drive the game with a wheel and pedals for the first time. The fact that he had only one hand on the wheel at the time because he was changing ERS modes or something, that added to the immersion that he couldn't control the car quite as well. Coupled with the fact I'd just installed the latest version of the 'Extreme, Medium, Realistic Damage' Mod from StrongestFish on Racedepartment (I use 'Realistic'), this meant he lost his front wing and had to pit. If that had happened without the mod, because it happened at such a slow speed, he would never have lost his wing and wouldn't have lost so many positions.

by design Starting My Team in a post-patch F1 2020?
s00zster replied to F1DriverBelgium's topic in F1 Chat
I agree, this is why I always start as Williams in Driver Career. -
Yeah, I only ask because the graphics for it focus on MyTeam and I was starting to wonder if it was 2 different sets of data used or something, but that would be pointless. Edit: Actually, I realise now that your teammate in Driver Career has ratings too, so I guess it must apply to both. Edit 2: For some reason I got another one (applied it to my saves anyway, just in case!). It applies to "any new saves or championships".
-
@BarryBL Actually, another thing I meant to ask was do the effects of the Driver Ratings update apply to Driver Career as well as MyTeam?
-
Cheers. 👍

Just wondering a couple of things: 1. Were these stat changes part of the performance patch or a more recent seperate patch that I wasn't aware of? I'd started a fresh save after updating the game with the performance patch but was still asked in the mail if I wanted to apply the stat changes to my savegame. 2. Do these stat changes directly affect the AI performances on track?
-
Just had this mail myself now. No idea if the stats are included in the patch as standard or if the stats only come with the mail. Prior to applying the mail, on a fresh save with the new patch, I've been getting Albon on the podium, Vettel just got a podium in my latest race. Hoping the mail changes this.

Since release, I've only seen a few wiggles. That's it. We need more mistakes with consequences. For example, with F1 2012 as I was going around La Source hairpin at Spa, a driver a few places back kept on going into the run off area, locked up just missing the wall and had to turn around and rejoin. That was great. Outbraking and locking up into a wall or run off area. Clipping the edge of the track onto the grass and losing control into a spin. Duelling with another car and clipping tyres, sending one or the other flying. Just having a random hit of oversteer into a long corner and spinning off during practice or qualifying. The cars need to be looser and have less restrictions on "personal space".

I'm assuming you remembered to import the XML back into the ERP? Other than that, I've no idea. The only thing I really know about in regards to vehicle files is the parts involving damage.

Make it easier for AI cars to overtake slow-moving damaged car
s00zster posted a topic in Suggestions
This is an issue that's as old as the series itself but it needs to be pointed out again. So I was racing at Bahrain this evening, a car was damaged and moving slowly, causing a train of about 7 or 8 cars to be held up behind it. I was some way off from the last car in the queue but was able to catch right up with them, they were moving at around the same pace as if there was a safety car. It took several laps for each car to get past the damaged car, creating a huge gap between the queue and the rest of the cars at the front of the race and in the end it had a massive effect on where the cars finished compared to where they should have finished, or would finish normally. It would be great if as soon as a car is damaged, it triggers something that allows the cars to pass it that much easier so that it doesn't affect the race in this way. Because not only does it affect the AI, I was unable to get past the cars in the queue because they kept twitching left and right trying to pass the damaged car, so it affected my race too. -
I believe that's the case. You could technically do that with the Ferrari PU so it could be rubbish now but upgrade fully to their original potential. I believe that's how it works but I could be wrong. My speciality is more AI behaviour but I can only do that with pre-2015 games. All I've done is played it safe and copied & pasted engine/fuel values from AI to PU files, and left all the other stuff alone (i.e. chassis, suspension, etc). The files I've made available have both baseline performance and upgrade section edited. Notepad++ with the Compare plugin is great for checking the differences in the two XML files. You'd also need the Ego ERP Archiver to extract the XML from the team's ERP file. Best place to find out about all of this is to go to Racedepartment.

So since I've done this, my Honda-powered car is now 2mph slower on the s/f straight at Bahrain than it was yesterday (same R&D modifications and conditions). This tallies up with my ability to catch Kvyat at Melbourne last night. I just had that edge that shouldn't have been there.
-
There's another set of spline lines further down in the Upgrade section of the files, I'm assuming this was maximum potential. They too were higher than the AI from what I could see.
-
No idea, I know basic modding but I don't know the specifics on splines and all that. But it has to be remembered that the Ferrari PU was based (essentially) on 2019 performances along with the original Ferrari AI. There's quite a leap in some of the numbers when comparing the current vanilla AI and PU files.

File's been uploaded, here's the link https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/realistic-myteam-power-unit-performance.36648/ Again, if Codemasters want me to remove it, please le me know and I will. 👍
-
Ok, I've edited the MyTeam power unit performance files for Ferrari, Honda and Renault. Mercedes didn't need to be edited, the lines for power unit were identical with the AI. Only lines associated with the power unit (i.e. engine power, fuel) have been copied over from the AI files (for Honda, I took the lines from the Red Bull file - there were slight differences between Red Bull and Alpha Tauri and I wanted the Honda file to have the fullest potential). In all 3 cases before editing, the user's MyTeam engine was more powerful than AI powered by the same power unit brand. They should now be equal. Please note that these edits will have no change upon the engine purchase screen or R&D ranking screens. Assuming that it's allowed, I shall be uploading these files to Racedepartment for anyone who wants a more realistic experience. If this isn't allowed, someone from Codemasters will have to let me know and I shall remove them immediately. I'll let you guys know when it's been uploaded.

Ok, I take it all back. There IS an issue with MyTeam Ferrari engines being more powerful than the Ferrari-powered AI: It's actually proven in Aarava's latest video. Jump to 4:47 to see what I mean: I was going by the R&D performance bars, thinking they accurately reflected the comparison between your engine and the other Ferrari teams. I guess the one way to fix this is to copy the values from the Ferrari AI file to the MyTeam Ferrari file. That's literally all Codies had to do but I guess they didn't want to upset anyone. *sigh* Right, I'm off to do that now. Edit: Done the MyTeam Ferrari values already, just a matter of copying and replacing anything to do with the power unit. Literally took me less than 5 minutes. Going to double check the other 3 files. Once I'm done, I'll see about sticking them up on Racedepartment for anyone who wants to use them.
-
Ok, so... Contrary to what I previously thought and put forward in this thread, I've since found the baseline performance of the user's power units vs AI power units in MyTeam to be equal. That includes Ferrari. It's only that when you start the game, you're given some minor upgrade packages. That's all part of the R&D flow. The AI will bump up their R&D ranking sooner or later and things will even out. The reason I apologised was because I felt my opinion was being accepted by others but it turned out my opinion was wrong. I don't like leading people astray, and I especially don't like ruining people's experience of something fun. In the greater scheme of things, there's more than just engines just at play when it comes to Ferrari's downgrade. Another thing is their aerodynamics / drag. In my first race since getting the patch, Ricciardo came third. Leclerc & Vettel came 8th and 9th. I think that's a very good medium when you consider Leclerc's real life performances getting the car onto the podium a couple of times and Vettel barely getting points. The driver stats could be updated further though, definitely.

It is on Steam, I'm playing with the new update myself. Have you tried restarting Steam? Have you checked your downloads? Check that Steam isn't in Offline Mode. Edit: Also, run F1 2020 and check on the bottom left that it says 1.12.
-
If there has been one, I'm guessing I didn't get it because I wiped my save data.
-
I haven't had that myself. When was the last time you played the game before this happened? Edit: Also, what platform are you on?
