Quote by Lee Mather: Source: https://www.racedepartment.com/threads/f1-2020-any-additional-replacement-tracks-wont-be-included-in-new-game.186305/ Edit: Not only that, they'd also have to do the circuit map animations, the track-specific commentary from multiple language commentators, etc.

10 Race season, disable all the races before it, and then it's Austria, GB, Hungary, Belgium, Italy and whichever others you want that are after that.
-
Codemasters have already stated (pre-release, I might add) that they won't be adding new tracks. Partly down to licensing, but also because it takes them, in their words, "about a year" to create the circuits due to the detail they have to put into it. Yep, I did this on my first save - 10 race season starting with Austria.

solved DSQ from Tyre Change Master Thread

What was the workaround? Just asking as I was going to try some of the suggestions today. I'm also struggling to find the will to play, I've barely got into a save and I'd stopped playing because of this issue. The patch can't come soon enough. -
'Documents > My Games > F1 2020 > hardwaresettings' and open the hardware_settings_config.xml file in Notepad.

Assuming you're on PC, have you tried verifying the files on Steam? Go into Steam, right click on F1 2020 in your library, select Properties, in the window that pops up click the Local Files tab at the top and select Verify Integrity of Game Files. This will find and reinstall any files that didn't install properly the first time around.

Used to be cockpit only for simulation purposes for years, but after occasionally trying T-Cam in several versions, I've since stuck with that. There are a couple of practicalities to this: being able to see when a car is alongside you and, as mentioned above, an improvement in depth perception. The fact that T-Cam is faster, though, is neither here nor there for me because I solely play career mode, so it's just a matter of shifting difficulty up to make it fair and the difference is neutralized. But mainly, for me, it's a visual / sensory thing. I love seeing the edge of the track sweeping past at high speed (especially the red & white rumble strips - coming out of turn 3 at Malaysia was when I first experienced this, that was really cool, woooooosh!) and this weirdly satisfying sensation of being able to see the wheels clipping the apex and then sweeping out again. Getting a better picture of the *shape* of the turn, the sweep of the car through a corner. It's just so aesthetically pleasing.

Has driver career the same driver market like MyTeam?
s00zster replied to HappyAss95's topic in F1 Chat
I would assume so, seeing as I've had news items for future retirements. -

I've had them when there hasn't been a SC, so I doubt it's that. -
Why Codemasters marketing strategy is sad and pathetic
s00zster replied to AoiAsahina's topic in F1 Chat
Codemasters aren't the only company that does this. It's pretty much standard practice these days with Youtube and Twitch. For instance, look up any game on Twitch with a DLC coming out and you'll find someone playing it a week, two weeks - sometimes even a month - before it's released, because they've got a free key from the developers to help promote it. And I personally don't have a problem with it because it gives me an opportunity to make my mind up about a product. And quite a few times, I've said "Nah, I'm not getting that". What *does* bother me is, at least in the case of the F1 games, some of those Youtubers being treated by viewers like they know more than the drivers themselves. I've seen people say, when they haven't liked a particular mechanic, "Youtuber X said this shouldn't be like this and I agree with them because they are Youtuber X", but said mechanic has actually been given the ok by a real F1 driver during a playtest. And you're thinking "Wait, just take a moment to think this through - you're such a fan of this person that, without them having any previous experience of driving an F1 car, you're willing to take their word over a real driver?" The deitification of Youtubers does my head in. -
Has driver career the same driver market like MyTeam?
s00zster replied to HappyAss95's topic in F1 Chat
As far as I've seen leading up to release, Driver Career Mode *should* have the same driver market as MyTeam. I read about this in numerous preview articles and found the prospect of it exciting. Perhaps it's just not very well optimized at the moment? What was Verstappen's results compared to Albon? They might have been prioritized over general value. You could also log it as a bug. Personally speaking, on my first Driver Career mode attempt, I had an email saying Grosjean was going to retire. I then restarted my save and have since had an email saying Raikkonen is retiring. So I'm assuming that someone from F2 will come up to take his place. But as for full market rules being taken into consideration, I don't know but I hope so seeing as Driver Career should have the same market. Could @BarryBL confirm that Driver Career Mode has the same driver market as MyTeam? -
So, in the R&D progress screen, these bars are on the right: Now, in the past, this would be vehicle performance, but they clearly don't correlate with R&D progress on the left. I did click on the mail which changed performance stats for my save (although that was while I was still in F2 last week), so is it something to do with that and it's messed everything up? Or is it something else entirely?

I've not had an issue with this since it was explained as to what it represents. I just feel I have to clarify as to why I saw it this way, as some of the replies to the contrary seemed rather incredulous and condescending.
-
I'd just like to point out that in that section of the game, there are lines everywhere involving statistics & performance. So it becomes second nature, at least for me, to see even more lines of varying length and assume they are displaying something statistical. On the previous pages to it, the team colours are represented by a vertical dash at the start of the name. This added inconsistency doesn't help.

solved DSQ from Tyre Change Master Thread

I think I've found a workaround. Just before you're about to pit for mediums, make a mid-session save (I actually made mine in the pitlane). Exit to the main menu, then reload the mid-session save and continue as normal. This actually just worked for me after it previously disqualified me. Was able to continue the race on the mediums with no issue, and was able to have an enjoyable race. 🙂 Give it a try. Edit: Ignore this, tried it again - didn't work. -
Platform PC Game Version 1.03 Game Mode Driver Career Peripherals Used PS3 Dualshock 3 gamepad via SCPToolkit Extra Details Belgium, Race, 50% distance, occured after loading a mid-session save I had started a race at Belgium (50% distance) and halfway through pitted for Medium tyres. Just before this, I made a mid-session save as I was testing for the DSQ Tyre Bug. Eventually reloaded the mid-session point and went onto Hard tyres instead (again, part of the test). I noticed as I came out of the pits that, despite Russell and Magnussen being a couple of seconds behind me, they were marked as '1 Lap' on the display, as if they'd been lapped. But they hadn't. Eventually, they passed me. The '1 Lap' stayed for a while, and then switched to 18:34.277 and 18:35:560 respectively on the penultimate lap. Neither of them had any penalties. Unfortunately, I can't seem to recreate it despite making multiple attempts.

Tried this and unfortunately this doesn't work for me. So, another race, (Spa, 50%, Driver Career) I started on softs with the plan to switch to mediums, but at the pit stop I made a mid-session save so I could go back on things before the switch. Switched to mediums and sure enough, told I would get DQ'd. Went back to the mid-session save and instead switched to Hards. This time, nothing happened. No call, no DQ. I can only guess that Mediums aren't being counted as a mandatory tyre. That's all I can take from it. It would be great if this one fix could be released as an emergency hotfix because as it stands, we're going to have to switch to Hards when the rest of the field are on Mediums or Softs. I'm in a Williams and it's dragging the game down - twice I've found myself scrapping for 14th or 15th, holding off the car behind me, only to be DQ'd. Go on Hards and I'm a definite last anyway. -

I understand that there's a fix on the way for this, but I thought I'd just add that I've had this issue two races running now - both times I chose the Alternative tyre strategy. Before, I'd only been choosing the default strategy and never had the issue. So, assuming that's what everyone else has been doing, then the workaround would be to just choose the default strategy. Edit: Also, with the latest instance of this issue, I'd been lapped and wasn't disqualified when I crossed the line on the penultimate lap to finish the race. -
If you've got an issue with slipstreaming, go into this thread and ask @David Greco CM about it.

When was that, 2012? Different cars now.
-
I think it's fine, more realistic than last year. If you've watched the Austrian / Styrian GPs, you'll see that even with a car within 1 second of the car in front, plus using DRS, it can take them multiple laps before they can get close enough to overtake. I'm having the best racing ever thanks to this. Hope they don't change it.

F2 inclusion in driver career mode not what I read it would be
s00zster replied to s00zster's topic in F1 Chat
Statement from the bug report thread: I thought I'd put this here because there are people playing the F2 portion of the game who, like us, have taken the quote "How you perform will affect how you are viewed in F1" at face value, and they could well be wasting their time. -
Career mode - F2 performance has zero impact on F1 start
s00zster replied to CarloLewis's topic in Gameplay Issues and Bugs TA
There are no points given in the practice programs, but this makes them even more... well, pointless. Like I said, I thought they must've been there for a reason. The fact that I did *every single one* as well as I could... I mean, I wasted 4 days on F2 because I thought it meant something. My entire Early Access time. I'm just dumbfounded by the whole thing, really. My belief was that it would unlock teams according to your performance (there's that word again), much like the Young Driver Test in F1 2012. An 8 year old game and it had this mechanic down perfectly. There are people out there still playing F2 believing that their time and effort is being put into a meaningful career progression, so I'm going to put the statement in the F1 Chat thread, partly for more exposure and partly because this is really just for bug reports. -
Career mode - F2 performance has zero impact on F1 start
s00zster replied to CarloLewis's topic in Gameplay Issues and Bugs TA
But it says "How you perform will affect how you are viewed in F1" on all three F2 options. I'm sure you can appreciate that choosing an academy isn't "performing". There is no other way you can take this other than "F1 teams will view you in different ways depending on your results". And why were those practice programs even in there? That is, again, giving the false impression of "better performance, better career prospects". Also, the fact there is the option to jump straight into F1 with no restrictions, I thought that was the point? Do that, or see how high you can climb the ladder from the bottom first in F2? And again, the "perform" quote before you select it. -

Description Penultimate lap of the British GP (50% distance), and Jeff has told me I haven't used both dry compounds during the race, despite having used 2 sets of softs and a set of mediums. Also, to confirm with an earlier post, the race did have a safety car.
