Career mode - F2 performance has zero impact on F1 start
s00zster replied to CarloLewis's topic in Gameplay Issues and Bugs TA
Just a quick update to confirm that after starting a new save and this time jumping straight into F1, there is absolutely no difference in my starting conditions compared to when I finished 3rd in my full F2 season on my previous save. Same acclaim, driver value, etc. F2 had no effect whatsoever. -
In past versions of the game since 2017 that area would show vehicle performance levels and teams in order of R&D progress. So it was an automatic assumption that there was an issue with this.
-
Oh wow, I didn't even notice that! I thought it was some kind of extra graph-related symbolism connected to R&D levels. I feel like such a donut.

I want to clean my save up. If I were to use the Delete All Save Data option, will I lose my Pitcoins and any unlockables I've earned?

Career mode - F2 performance has zero impact on F1 start
s00zster replied to CarloLewis's topic in Gameplay Issues and Bugs TA
Yeah, this annoyed me. The amount of time I spent on the practice programs, and I'm not completely fond of them but if there's something to come out from doing them, then I'll do them. At the time I thought "What's going on? Oh hang on, cars are equal, no R&D. Must be a reason for them being there, though. They wouldn't be there otherwise. It'll pay off at the end of the season." but nope. 😶 -
Delete All Save Data - will I lose unlockables & pitcoins?
s00zster replied to s00zster's topic in F1 Chat
Can confirm I still have my unlockables and pitcoins after doing this. Thanks to @Lewis44TheWin 👍 -
Just wondering, those of you who have seen mistakes and accidents - what difficulty are you playing at? I'm playing at 90% and I've only seen 1 near miss with the last kink at Baku. That was in F2, though. I haven't seen a single mistake in F1. No accidents or crashes, needs to be worked on.

Career mode - F2 performance has zero impact on F1 start
s00zster replied to CarloLewis's topic in Gameplay Issues and Bugs TA
I mean, F1 career mode is fine, it works properly, it's just the F2 integration that's broken. It's like once you get into F1, it's like you've just skipped F2 and you're starting from scratch. -
Allow lapped cars to unlap during SC
s00zster replied to SingaporeTrackLizard's topic in Suggestions
The problem is in the case of it not happening in-game, you end up stuck in the queue among lapping cars. Green light and you get blue flagged for every single other car you to pass you and your race is over, you can't catch the guy in front because they've either managed to slip the queue and end up lapping you themselves after the SC or you're trying to catch them and get the risk of disqualification trying to unlap yourself. It's too black and white in-game and needs to be remedied. -

There's a thread in Suggestions on this, with a response from @BarryBL If you guys would like to add to this, hopefully it would help. -
F2 inclusion in driver career mode not what I read it would be
s00zster replied to s00zster's topic in F1 Chat
Worse still that it says in the game that your performance in F2 has a direct effect on your career in F1, and it simply doesn't. Plus, @CarloLewis had interaction with Claire, I didn't. Not one single scene in the whole of my full length F2 season. -
Career mode - F2 performance has zero impact on F1 start
s00zster replied to CarloLewis's topic in Gameplay Issues and Bugs TA
In my 2nd replication, selected no academy (as I have done at all times) and despite deliberately crashing out of all 3 F2 races, I chose Mercedes and got 6 acclaim / $2m value. It seems to be purely based on the F1 team you pick. F2 has zero effect on anything. -
Career mode - F2 performance has zero impact on F1 start
s00zster replied to CarloLewis's topic in Gameplay Issues and Bugs TA
Description When I started my Driver Career, I chose to include a full season of F2 (all races, 50% distance) because it stated "How you perform will affect how you are viewed in Formula 1", and believed it would add some extra dynamics to my character's stats, i.e. acclaim, value and general reputation. I also assumed it would influence which teams would be available to me at the start of the F1 part of the career i.e. if I perform badly, then I'd only have the choice of the lower teams (like with the F1 2012 Young Driver Program). When I started, I chose to not be connected with any academy. There was no feedback throughout the F2 season on how my performances were affecting my F1 chances. The only rather odd thing I did notice was that training programs were included in practice, but not giving out points. I understood this as R&D points weren't required because all F2 cars are equal, but depending on how you perform with them, they would also add to your reputation. I thought it was a hidden "under the hood" mechanic. They were there, therefore there had to be a reason for them. So I did every single one of them as best I could. @CarloLewis states above he answered no comment to every question from Claire - I had ZERO interaction with Claire throughout my F2 season, no cutscenes or questions with her at all. I was winning races and had the odd crash out, at no time did I get a screen with Claire. It felt like I was playing last year's F2 championship mode - complete a race, go onto the next, nothing in between. As I said, I had zero feedback on what effect my performances would give for the future. I completed the F2 career over several days and finished 3rd. I was then faced with a simple "choose your team" screen. All teams were available and there was no feedback on what affect my performances had on these teams in terms of how they viewed me or on my character. Just a vehicle performance graph. During the F2 cutscene, it says that my performance would allow me to "more easily negotiate with the top teams on the grid" - there was no negotiation or contract screen, either. When I chose a team (I chose Williams), my value was $250k. In MyTeam, Schumacher is worth $1m and Aitken is worth $1.5m by default - I finished 3rd in F2 and both of them finished below me, so surely if F2 had an effect on how I was viewed in F1, then my value should have been at least equal to them, if not more. @CarloLewis also stated his acclaim was 6 when starting F1, mine was 1. I have no idea if this is a result on who you choose to drive for in F1, but I assumed it would be affected by your F2 performance. Platform PC Game Version 1.03 Game Mode Driver Career mode with F2 included Replication I hope you can appreciate that I simply don't have the time to replicate a full season of 50% races again, so the 3 race scenario will have to do. Again, please note the following: In my original full length 50% distance F2 season I had zero interaction with Claire (no screens, questions, cutscenes, nothing), had zero "negotiation" with F1 teams other than a "pick a team" screen with all teams being available, joined Williams, had 1 acclaim and was worth $250k. Replication 1: F2 mode, 3 race scenario option, 5 laps per race. Race 1: Finished 6th in the first race at Austria, after which I *did* get a chat with Claire. Race 2: Won, again had a chat with Claire Race 3: 7th, again had a chat with Claire. Supposedly I came 2nd in the championship, but was first told that I'd won the championship (Latifi won it), then asked about being 2nd. I'll log this as a separate bug. Got to the F1 screen, again - just a plain "choose your team" screen. No "negotiation" or feedback. Chose Williams again and again, value was $250k, acclaim 1. No extra acclaim for finishing higher, so I'm guessing that's influenced by who you join. Replication 2 This time, I will be deliberately crashing out of each race and taking out other drivers if possible. Again, 3 race scenario, 5 laps, no academy chosen. Race 1: Crashed into someone, retired. Chat with Claire. Race 2: Crashed into someone, retired. Chat with Claire. Race 3: Crashed into someone, retired. Chat with Claire. Taken to the F1 screen - same as before, have the choice of any team, no restrictions despite my awful performance. And this time, I chose Mercedes and found my acclaim was 6, with a value of $2m. There appears to be absolutely no correlation between how you perform in F2 and how the F1 teams view you, despite the statement in the above screenshot. F2 inclusion in driver career mode not what I read it would be
s00zster replied to s00zster's topic in F1 Chat
This has to be broken. I've also just realised something - despite coming third in F2, my starting value in F1 was only $250k - compare that to the likes of Schumacher ($1m) or Jack Aitken ($1.5m), their default values in MyTeam and neither of them finished ahead of me in F2 Driver Career. I should be worth at least that, if not more. Would be great to get some feedback from @BarryBL on this. F2 just doesn't have the effect on your F1 career as stated. Edit: Also, my starting acclaim in F1 after coming 3rd in F2 was 1. -
with developers Parc fermé not working properly
s00zster replied to Falstojudilofa's topic in Gameplay Issues and Bugs TA
Also getting this in Driver Career Mode on PC, version 1.03. It's occurred every race I've run so far. Parc Ferme enabled in settings, but when the race loads, you're able to go through the setup menu without limitation and change your setup. -
This is off the top of my head, purely from experience: If your tyres are overheating and you use a pad, switch to Tyre Surface Only in Gameplay settings, that's what it's there for. If you use a wheel, then try and drive more smoothly and lower your tyre pressures - especially the front left, or front right for anti-clockwise circuits. Bear in mind that the lower the tyre pressure, the more wear you'll get. You could also try softening the anti-roll bars. The stiffer they are, the more pressure is being put onto the tyres through a corner. If you still have problems, then switch to Tyre Surface Only.

I was referring more to the general setup i.e. wings, suspension, etc for a wet race, as I had first experienced this issue at the start of a wet race (I've since experienced it for dry races and now realise it's a bug) and thought they'd started simulated the wet rules, the prospect of which I found quite exciting until I realised it was a bug. I remember the rule being if the race is declared wet, the teams can make changes to wings, suspension, etc before the start of the race. If it's dry, then parc ferme rules apply. I have no idea if this rule has been updated though, I saw it a couple of years ago.

F2 inclusion in driver career mode not what I read it would be
s00zster replied to s00zster's topic in F1 Chat
Just so you know, I never had any interaction with Claire during the F2 season. Like I said, it was just like playing the championship mode. Finish a race weekend, straight onto the next one. -

s00zster replied to s00zster's topic in F1 Chat
PC I have a feeling it's by design, unfortunately. -
I just got this prior to a wet race and was hoping it wasn't a bug (IIRC, the rules are that if a race is declared wet, then you can change the setup, but I could be out of date with that). I'm assuming you all got this with a dry race? Or can you confirm they were all wet races?

F2 inclusion in driver career mode not what I read it would be
s00zster replied to s00zster's topic in F1 Chat
There's zero feedback on how I'm viewed though. Unless it was, as previously mentioned, a matter of which teams would be selectable depending on my finishing position. I just thought it would be a lot deeper than what would essentially be a basic unlockable menu system. F1 2012 had that with the Young Driver Program, depending on how many tests you passed, you'd unlock one more F1 team to be able to join. But at least you had feedback of your progression and what you were being rewarded with. There was nothing here, throughout the entire F2 season and when you're taken into F1, zero feedback with how you're viewed or what your reward could be. It was just "pick a team and go", and you're thinking "wait, that's it?" Like I said, it just felt like last year's F2 championship mode bolted onto the front and then linked into normal career mode, the only difference being you were using your character instead of choosing an F2 driver. It's a shame. -

Both the articles you referred to were seemingly published in the past week or so. I saw references to the F2 mechanics about a month ago, perhaps earlier. I still can't remember where, it might've been one that was retweeted by Lee Mather on Twitter, and it's been one of the things I've been looking forward to for all that time due to the authenticity of the experience it would have offered. Also, regarding the practice programs, they gave me more reason to believe there was something deeper to my performances in F2. While they didn't give any R&D points - all the cars are the same in F2, so the points wouldn't be needed - they *existed*, so I automatically assumed it was something "under the hood" that was being calculated. Could be, no idea. The screen I had was the same as the team select screen in 2019 - all the team logos and a "vehicle performance" chart on the right. Perhaps if I finished lower, the higher-end teams would be greyed out? Honestly thought it would be more like "Williams, Renault and Alpha Tauri were impressed with you performance in the F2 championship, and they have all offered you a contract" and you choose and it's a more connected continuation of things. -
So it says: "Instantly earn any VIP rewards for the tiers you have already unlocked." I'm Tier 4 at the moment - does this mean that if I got the Podium Pass it'll only unlock up to Tier 4 and no more, or does it enable all VIP rewards to unlock as I climb the tiers? Thanks.

Allow lapped cars to unlap during SC
s00zster replied to SingaporeTrackLizard's topic in Suggestions
@BarryBL The game really needs this rule included. Without it, there is the potential for races to be completely ruined (as they have been for me in the past) if you've been lapped and then get stuck in a SC queue. Green light and you have to let *everyone* pass and that's your race over. The rule was sort of fixed on 2017 due to a separate issue needing to be fixed, and it was terrific. Please do this again for 2020. -
