  1. The optimist in me would say that this is possibly good news, as Codemasters will get a chance to bring in new ideas and talent to a stagnating copy-paste franchise. The realist in me is saying that they just bought off competition, so they can get away with even less than before.

PAD is too faster than Wheel ! WHY ?

The steering assist is the most notable one, although it also has more traction out of corners. The steering assist means that you can't turn the wheels too much and have the front slide under you. If you go 200km/h and turn all the way to the left or right with the pad, it doesn't equal to having full steering lock. Swing a wheel to the far edge and your fronts break traction and have rotational friction turned into kinetic friction, equaling to understeer and elevated tire temperatures. For example Assetto Corsa doesn't have built-in assists for pad users, which is why nobody is competitive with it.

PAD is too faster than Wheel ! WHY ?

I started thinking about this and realized it's possible to get more "realisim" in some areas this way. For example, one could make track-specific macros that manage ERS while allowing manual override at will.

    Patch 1.12 ruined glove textures

It might depend on the car, I don't know. Which graphical issues would you deem bigger, then?

    Patch 1.12 ruined glove textures

While it not might the most pressing issue, one should understand that the developers are not some do-all-fix-all handymen, but rather each have their own specializations. I seriously doubt the artists at CM will be working on AI performance, for example. Furthermore, you'd probably not even notice the issue if you drive with the T-Cam. With the cockpit view however, the gloves take a considerable amount of screen-space, especially in corners.

    Is Monaco still unplayable?

In practice sessions I use a lot of flashbacks. That's how I practice tricky corners etc. In quali and race I stop doing it, but if I crash early on I restart the session. I just don't like practicing a lot and then retire in the first corner. Sim damage and cockpit view for me. Qualifying in Monaco is one of the best sessions of the season. The race, especially in heavy rain, is the most physically demanding by a nautical mile. After the race my hands are shaking and I'm sweating like a pig.
  7. I don't think a larger / richer developer would do any better. For an annual release with an official license, there's simply no financial incentive to produce a "perfect" game. Besides, the way some companies have become very large / rich is that they've been releasing license based games with very profitable micro transactions. Specifically I'm talking about Electronic Arts. I spent years in the esports community of the NHL-series, and I can tell you that what CM is giving us with their annual releases is a light year ahead of what EA does with its NHL franchise, for example. Every year they remove a few features and add a couple of "new" ones, which actually are just features that were removed a few years earlier. It's an endless cycle of milking the cash cow. FIFA is in a better state, but that's simply because they have some true competition, unlike with many other license-based games. What I'd like to see is for the Formula One Management to sell the license to at least two different devs instead of selling it as an exclusive. It's the only way we the players could have a real effect on the direction and quality of the games, because we could so easily vote with our wallets. Codemasters has the talent and capability of producing fantastic racing games - what they lack is the need to do so with F1.

    Suggestion, restrict cockpit view

I always use cockpit in online as well. In random lobbies I have trouble but I'm sure that would be the case even if I used chase cam. In league races I've had no problems. So far this season I've only been involved in one incident with another player in 9 races, and that's when he forgot there was a corner at the end of the straight. I have the "look behind" function mapped in my wheel too, and I use it if I need it. I'm not a "purist" and I actually advocate virtual mirrors in the game, but it is what it is. I don't really see why racing with other cars would be so much more difficult from the cockpit cam than T-Cam. If someone rams you from behind or swipes you off the track it's not going to make a difference either way.

    Suggestion, restrict cockpit view

I have them on L3 and R3 on my PS4 Logitech G29. Works like a charm. I guess it depends on the type of wheel you have, some have less buttons I believe.

    Suggestion, restrict cockpit view

I have "look left" and "look right" binded on my wheel. That way you can see the mirrors well. Other than that, it's a combination of proximity arrows and general spatial awareness combined with good racing etiquette.

Singapore Marina Bay Ferrari Set up

Interesting stuff. I've had a very similar setup with the multiplayer car but with much higher wing settings, as to which you referred to. How much laptime do you recon the difference is? Maybe I'll try it tonight. With the Ferrari you can get away with a bit higher wing settings than with the Merc because it's less draggy. Not sure if it holds for Singapore though, because the straights are quite short.

AI in the wet - all circuits

I respectfully disagree. Why would it have to be a wet-dry race and not two races? In such a scenario the results will be messed up by varying fuel loads, the amount of rain etc. Also, you are assuming that the effect of rain on the performance and handling of the cars, both AI and the player, is exactly the same as in real life, which I doubt very much. I am comparatively much faster in the rain than dry conditions against both AI and human players. Without adjusting difficulty levels I might be 7th or 8th against the AI in an Alpha Romeo when it's dry and reach a podium finish in the wet. I do agree though that the AI is better in the wet than it was in F1 2017 which is the last version I played. Back then the podium finish would have been a race win.
  13. Alright, try cranking up the wheel damper setting. It made a big difference for me on a G29. I found it better to increase it and decrease general FFB as needed.
  14. How much wheel damp are you using? I have general FFB at 65 and wheel damper at 50 in my G29 and it's okayish. Still feels like floating around when making small direction changes but in the tighter corners it's alright.
