Never had that happen either, even with ~80 wear on some components in a practice PU. Are you using simulation damage?
-
Perhaps you happen to be just at the right distance for the defaults or you're just otherwise used to them. For me, constantly seeing two steering wheels and four hands is not what I expect.
-
In most cases I suppose you're right. An important point of consideration is the chosen tyre pressures. If you're on minimum pressures, it's very hard to get the dry tires up to temperature if the track is damp/wet. Softs are the easiest to get up to temperature. If the chosen tyre pressures have accounted for a damp track, then sometimes mediums can be a better option - depending on how long you expect to have to drive on them. The car slides around a lot on a damp track with dry tires, so wear might become an issue very quickly on some tracks if running softs.

I've been asking for an external HUD for cockpit for years. A proper LCD display would not help me much while driving, because my wheel overlaps the virtual wheel so I wouldn't see it anyway. Another itch in my back is not being able to see/record my throttle and brake telemetry while driving in cockpit. There is no logical reason not to have a HUD as an option in cockpit. Never seen anyone from CM even try to explain why it's still not there.

After a couple of months of driving the game, I had developed an intuitive feeling that the modeling of drag and DRS is wrong. I decided to finally test it, and turns out I was right. DRS should give the biggest comparative drag advantage when the rear wing is at its highest angle of attack. In other words, with an aero-spec designed for Hungary, DRS might give some 15 km/h extra speed on a 800 meter straight. With Monza-spec aero, the advantage of DRS on the same straight might be 7 km/h. The numbers are arbitrary, but the principle is correct. As it stands, that's not how the game works. The game doesn't differentiate drag created by the front wing and the rear wing when using DRS. 11-1 DRS - 11-1 = 1-11 DRS - 1-11 I think the issue is just overlooked. The game has different values of drag for front and rear wings, but for some reason when applying DRS it is simplified to lowering overall drag, not just drag caused by the rear wing.

Very true. Ferrari's company worth doesn't come from the cars they make or sell. It comes from their brand image, and licensing rights for the use of that image brings more money than selling the cars. Even the F1 drivers of today are so perplexed by successful brand marketing, that they are ready to switch to Ferrari with a smile on their face, no matter how much of a farce their car is.

Thanks for acknowledging the issue. I have not claimed my trophy (finished P11) because there are several bugged out scores ahead of me. To be honest I'm not sure if the trophy is any different between, say, P11 or P7. I was just wondering whether I should expect a fix before the mail for the trophy claim expires?

I'd like to see mechanical DNFs as an option for the player, but not having it forced. I can imagine that if one prepares for a 100% race several days, one might not be so keen to DNF from a brake failure. Right now the only way to retire naturally is to crash. Nothing stops a player from simulating a mechanical DNF during a season by simply retiring from a race. I did that once so far. I put in a new engine for the race (with penalties) and retired on the first lap. The story was that my engine blew up in the race and the new engine was installed only afterwards. Would be simpler and nice to have it as an in-game option, though. There's so much more they could do in terms of complexity of My Team. The question is of return on investment. Would expanding and improving My Team (at a cost) bring enough more sales to make it justified?
-
I got mine in Singapore. I'm still in the first season. In terms of the general topic at hand, the "campaign" part of My Team will be easy, if one makes race weekends easy. I could bet that over 95% of players don't have a single retirement on their results screen over a season. Why? Because of flashbacks. It's essentially a single player cheat, so if one uses it every weekend / session, of course the game is going to be easy. Let the retirements come and weekends with negative acclaim and just a handful of research points. It will give a natural extension to your campaigns. I believe that's what the campaign is balanced around. If they'd make it so that in order to get competitive you could never retire etc., it would be a tough ask for those who don't flashback, for example.

This one is weird. The data clearly is there but simply isn't presented to the player. Jeff might give radio updates on top speeds, but these are always off by almost a 100 kph.
-
I'm not sure if it's really a bump you are referring to. There a slight elevation change and the corner is kind of on a plateau, similarly to the entry of Ascari in Monza. It's easier to see if you go through it in cockpit cam. The feeling of the car going in the air is not actually too far from the truth. What happens is that the body roll of the car loads the outside wheels and the inside tyres might not be loaded at all. IRL you could actually see the inside wheels lifting in the air if the anti-roll bar settings are not good. Apart from suspension settings the only thing that helps is either slower entry speed or just the right kind of trail braking, which you can use to manipulate the weight transfer of the car.

There's a bug that causes grip levels to go up but I only know how it works in online multiplayer unranked lobbies (PS¤). I will PM one of the moderators about it tomorrow as I don't feel like it would be a great idea to spell it out in public.

Current Ps4 Leaderboard (don't open if you don't want to read about cheat/exploit scores) Simple. If you do, open away

Oh! Thanks for the tips man. I had no idea I could do it multiple times nor did I know about the pit assist. I was wondering why the car behind me caught me by a few seconds coming into the pits even though I broke the limit Unfortunately it was the last race. I had a league race earlier this evening and when I went to check the Event race calendar, I saw that the last race was starting in 3 minutes. They end pretty early, I don't know why. -

That's a nice score! Do you remember your race time @Sir_Overtakesalot? I ask because I fluked my race and I'm sitting on P11 now. Lost a place at the start and when I tried to regain it, he tried to put me in the wall twice. Then I bottled my pitstop and went 3kph too quick, getting a 5 second penalty. A big what if, so to speak. I hope those glitch/cheat times get deleted! -
I know how weather forecasts work - or don't. IRL weather forecast are more unreliable in Spa than in Australia, and my question was whether this is the case in the game as well.
-
No argument from me there. It's good, but I'd like to know how it works.
-
You're probably right, even though that's not what the bug report rules stipulate. Forgot to mention that I don't know how it would be possible to trigger the bug in an Event, I only have an idea how it works with unranked sessions with certain lobby options.
-
Before last weekend I didn't really think it would be possible to cheat, as in increasing grip for example, on PS4. Since then I've had a bug happen a few times when joining an online lobby. What happens is that my frame rate drops to around 10, but the car has an insane amount of grip under braking, cornering and accelerating. If you can handle the frames without vomiting, you can go godly fast. I now have an understanding what triggers it, but I've yet to edit the videos and file a report, because I'm not that comfortable in exposing such an exploit to the public. That being said, it's not cheating in traditional terms, more like exploiting a glitch. I agree with cleaning up the leaderboards in events and Time Trial. Unfortunately I don't have very high expectations. Dirt Rally had for years stages with WR times that were less than one sector of a legit run - and that's in a game where you only race the clock..
-
You do have a point, the weekly event leaderboards look ridiculous. Are you sure it's cheating though? I've only participated in one event before this so I don't know if it's the same people getting those kind of scores. If not, it could just be a bug in the game instead of cheating.
-
Magnussen blowing hot air with his Haas must've been some kind of a joke. Cool shot though. Increase in drag of the car across the board would bring down times without compromising handling, while also boosting the effectiveness of slipstream. Doubt we'll see it though, David Greco said that the dirty air / slipstream balance was made for gameplay purposes, not realism. It would also call for a reset of leaderboards so I doubt there will be any action towards that end.

Looks as though Monza is about a second per lap quicker in-game than IRL. Does anyone remember if Codies has ever reduced the overall performance of the cars? I remember several times over the years of having downforce added since launch, including this year, but I can't ever remember them making the cars slower.
-
Correct. The AI's misuse of ERS combined with lack of slipstream make low wing setups very strong. There are a few tracks that thei AI runs relatively low wing setups on, though.
-
Yeah I definitely can see that helping. Without an external HUD in cockpit (ffs bring it already), I have to lift my buttocks off the chair to see the bars, so it's not something I'll be doing any time soon. How I've been managing ERS is just paying attention to the battery charge bar; how much I use regularly on a main straight for example, and that gives me an approximate idea of how much more I can use it over a lap. Not perfect but the game leaves no options really.
-
I've been reading this with interest, albeit not watching the footage at first. I kept on wondering what on earth are you guys talking about. Then I launched the game and had a good look. Alas, there are indeed 2 ERS-related bars hidden behind my steering wheel! I'm not sure how they're supposed to work, but what I can attest to is that one can drive just fine without ever paying attention to them.
