Nailed it. The current ones look like they are targeted to underage Fortnite fans.

I always race cockpit but have tried out T-Cam a few times out of interest. I have the same problem, feels like there's a ton of input lag - but there isn't, I'm sure. It must be the FOV and suddenly looking at the track through a fish-eye lens that causes it.

Does anyone else feel like DRS and slipstream are very ineffective?
janbonator replied to Ewanoss9's topic in F1 Chat
Every league racer worth his salt ups his engine mode for straights and knows how to use ERS too. Making the whole charade mostly meaningless. I think I will test it over the weekend to get some hard data, but I'm quite certain the slipstream effect reduces drag by less than 1%. -

I've said it since launch - I'd like to see some kind of slipstream effect. Right now it's practically zero. I love the addition of dirty air, but I suppose for gameplay reasons slipstream was removed to base overtaking on ERS modes. It's been pretty much what I've feared in terms of league racing. There are now tracks that simply don't allow for any overtaking unless the car in front makes a mistake. A good example would be Melbourne. -
It's super irritating. I try to find online lobbies without SC, because I never get out of them alive. Either I get a ton of penalties for people crashing into me, or I lose my wing because of the same reason. I've even been disqualified because someone crashed into me at 300km/h behind the SC. IMHO there should be a lobby option to ghost all cars behind the SC. That would solve the **** show.

Cheating is the worst thing in multiplayer games and should be tackled with all seriousness. That being said, not everything dodgy is cheating nor intentional. Perhaps the game just didn't register a wallride or a corner cut because of a glitch that one was unaware of. Here's an example of my hotlap in Canada, which I think should have been invalidated 10 times out of 10 because of wall-banging. The impact would've likely ended my race with full damage settings. I didn't win time there but I think collisions such as this should not be possible on a timed lap in TT. The video is in 3 camera angles: Cockpit (POV), T-Cam and Broadcast.

I think your reasoning is solid. Personally I would rate Renault over Ferrari though. According to Ricciardo, Renault had a major set-up breakthrough at Silverstone and they now know the sweet spot for the car to run in on. It's to be seen, however, if they can hit that sweet spot on high-downforce circuits as well. I think they have much more potential in their package. In Monza Ricciardo will mount a serious challenge for a podium finish. In my books Williams is still at the tail-end. Russel has been putting in very good quali performances, but they have topped the Ferrari customers in quali simply because of the Mercedes PU quali mode. In the race they've always fallen down the order. Now that the quali-mode ban kicks in, I expect their Q2 days to be over for the most part.

That looks.. awesome! I might replicate that right after winning the lottery, which I never participate in.

It's what players seem to struggle the most when transitioning from the pad. Just keep going at it, you will learn. It's only a matter of time. Luckily I have not had to try the standard pedals. However, I did struggle at first with the T3PAs after G29, even though they are better in every way. It takes time to re-adjust your muscle memory. I have a strange habit of squeezing the base of the pedal with my left heel while I'm trail braking. I guess somehow I'm applying some sort of counter weight/pressure to help with the sensitive and not very resistant brake pedal. Wouldn't recommend this though, there are days I struggle to stand after stressing my heel extensively. If you want to practice trail braking, head to Time Trial and pick Suzuka. Keep hammering at the first corner(s), they are excellent for the purpose. Record your driving and see from the telemetry how you're applying the brakes. Make adjustments if needed and keep plugging away.

No, not at all. The only mode in which they do is an online race with performance set to "equal".

1.20 at Monza is not a fast run. The first two are rather obvious illegal times (or should be), but you still have ~4 seconds to make up. Try the Mercedes, it's quicker than the Ferrari.

I found it rather curious that the official F1 Youtube channel uploaded a comparison video of Leclerc's qualifying laps in Spa for 2019 and 2020, but did not include any telemetry, not even speed. I would've liked to do a similar analysis as I did after the first race in Austria (page 3 in this thread). If someone has found video material with telemetry, I'd be grateful for a link!

Try it as Pro Career. I wouldn't think it very easy even on season 3.

You probably have better frame rates on PC compared to Xbox, which could explain your feeling.

It could help one getting into some leagues that have a pre-qualifier in terms of TT times. Although any league organizers in possession of two occasionally colliding brain cells will see times like that as cheats. It's the more subtle ones that are the pain. If someone raises his grip and power output by 3%, it's already much harder to detect, but has a big impact on laptime.

@Ialyrn So, I tested setting the overal FFB to 0 in control panel on PC before then switching it back to PS4. It appears you were right. I still had FFB in-game. I still have a hard time understanding why it's made like this.

Same thing happens to me but quite rarely. I'm on a standard PS4 too (bigger HDD than the original though) and I have the game as a hard copy. I live in a rural part of Finland - connection is not great but it's okay. I can play all other multiplayer games without issues, although sometimes I do get NAT failures with certain people on PSN parties etc. I rarely switch tracks in TT. Usually it's just the same track with the same car all session. It can happen very quickly or after several hours, but it happens at some point almost every time.
-
I just scrolled through the bug report section. There are topics on the matter since the start of July and they keep appearing on almost every page for as long as I bothered to scroll them. There are threads that say the issue is solved, and threads (with the right template) that have not generated any kind of response. Doesn't really encourage me to spend an hour recording, editing and uploading videos on it.

This problem is not solved. 1. At some point the TT leaderboards bug out and I can no longer see any times on any track until I reboot the game. Usually it works fine when launching TT for the first time, but after some driving or a track change it bugs out. I have not found any clear pattern as to how/when it happens. 2. 1.08 but I've had the same problem on every version of the game since launch. 3. Time Trial 4. All my friends on PS4 have the same problem. 5. Restarting the game solves the problem temporarily. 6. Thrustmaster T300, Logitech G29, DS4 (same results with each)

What I meant with fully compatible is the following: by default the T300 settings have 0 spring and 0 damper. If they really can't be changed and saved on the wheel, the console players are missing the spring effect completely, as it cannot be changed in-game. You're right about the pedal calibration, but I'm not sure if it's "relevant", meaning that it could technically be possible for the wheel to save settings without saving pedal settings. Will be interesting to hear what TM has to say. I'll let you know what I find in my tests, too.
-
Interesting. So, if you're correct, the wheels are not actually fully console-compatible then? A few weeks ago I was playing around with my T300 settings and set the spring rate from 0 to 100. After plugging it back into the PS4 I was sure I noticed a major difference in handling - but if you're right it was all a placebo. I'll try again today.

The patch notes said nothing about trying to fix the issue. Unless one believes bugs can magically disappear without someone fixing them, it has been a current issue since release. All my friends have the same issue, I haven't heard it would work with anyone. If Codemasters received a million+ bug reports on the matter, they wouldn't even read all of them.
-
I would find that very surprising, and frankly, worrying. I have a 60€ PS4 controller that can save four different profiles (sensitivities, button layouts) that can be changed on the fly on PS4 after setting them up on PC. If a 300€ wheel can't do that, well.. something's wrong.
-
Doesn't work for me. Only restarting the game does. Usually the leaderboards load fine the first time, but after doing some laps and going back to see the times, they've often disappeared. I could wait an hour and nothing will happen. I'm on PS4. There's been bug reports about it since release so I see little point in writing up the same thing umpteenth time. Not a major problem for me, though. The game loads up quickly enough. My problem with TT is that some tracks are not well-made. For example in Canada one can wallride almost any wall at speeds that would cause a DNF without invalidating the lap.
