@Rallycameraman mentioned on racedepartment a 208 r5, so i think the other r5 car from PSA will be in the game, too! I'm sure @Rallycameraman will have remembered it correctly: he made a beeline for the R5 class while my priority was the rallycross car list!
-
I saw that @RallyDriven and @Rallycameraman have both mentioned four or five cars in that class. I only remembered seeing three in the menu screen (and one of those I'm not 100% on), so I'm not that helpful there... ...given it's in the trailer I assume that they already have the license for the Fiesta R5. For me that is "the" R5 car, so I'm really glad that's in. I spent quite a bit of time in the Fiesta R5 during the test day last year and it's a blast to drive!

How tastes can vary. I like pretty all rally cars. However, tastes are not be argued about. @tbtstt Thanks for the info. If you don't mind, since it's the full list, how many rally (that is, of the rally discipline) would you say there are, in total (an estimate)? My rough guess (and don't quote me) is approximately 30 rally cars. I'm sure the figure of 50 cars in total was mentioned yesterday and I count 18 non-rally cars. I may be forgetting/have missed some though, so please don't be mad if the above numbers are wrong! As I said in my earlier post, the absence of the modern WRCars was the only thing I was disappointed about when we left CM at the end of the day. The addition of R5 is a great consolation though: it's such a key class in so many current national Championships that it retains a contemporary feel to the car list in D4.

As I understood it, we saw the "full" car list, though about half of those were playable on the day. Again @KickUp, @Hatward or @ChristinaMc may be able to confirm if I have got the wrong end of the stick there. Be brilliant if more cars were to be added on top of those though! I can remember most of the cars from the day, however I haven't posted any car list yet as I think there are still license to be acquired. Only because you're rubbish in the new cars*. ;) (* Group A is my fave era as well though: I gave the Group A Evo a good hammering yesterday!)
-
Sorry @TheFlyingTuga, I missed your comment! Sadly not. Like you I think the EKS Audi would be a fantastic addition to the class. @KickUp may correct me but, as I understand it, it's a licensing issue. Perhaps the official Audi backing for EKS for 2017 might change things?

There was a gameplay video from the announcment event, you could see some shots of the competitors cars, there was the Lancer Evo VI (which was driven by the player), Impreza 1995, Delta HF Integrale and Escort RS Cosworth Out of interest where did you see this? There were only two rally cars shown at the launch event: the Group A Evo VI and the NR4 Impreza. Result screen after a stage from the event on yooootooob Ah, of course! Sorry, I forgot that was showing the "complete" listing!

Yep, basically that. It's sad but that's how some roll So what exactly are we talking about here and where do we draw the line with modern? Are older spec WRC's like the 01/07 Focus still in the game or are these ruled out as well? Is it just cars from the 2010 and after that are unattainable? That's right. The '01 Impreza and Focus were in the build we saw, as was the '07 Focus. That would mean there's at least hope for older WRC spec machines as DLC? GC8 WRC - there is still hope! ;) Ha! I am hoping along with you but, at present, there isn't really a class for it to drop in to! (Unless you had two Impreza WRCars in the early 2000's class).

You could go for a second Subaru that Petter drove, like this: Useless Impreza factoid: the above is the '06 car and it was plagued with issues. Would love to see the '07 WRCar (the S12b) make the cut!

Big thanks! I like how Subaru was a separate column. ;) Did you see any replay? Saw the damage model/repairs? Are the percentage system gone? Any info if the RX multiplayer is fleshed out as well? Of course, gotta look out for the other Subaru fanboys. ;) I had a very quick play with the replay features yesterday. I noticed that there are now options for fixing the external cameras in the replay. So you could chose to "cycle" or stick with "helicopter" or "trackside". Very, very, briefly looked at the damage side of things. Initial impressions were that it was more detailed than the system in Dirt Rally. There was a lot to take in on the day though and that was something that I didn't spend much time with. Oh yeah, and something that I haven't seen mentioned in any of the previews yet: Nicky Grist is back in the co-driver seat!

Damn. I take an afternoon off form the Gossip page and now there are hundreds of post to read... ;) ...now the cat is out of the bag, we are free to discuss what we saw at CM last year. With that in mind I thought I would post up the comments I made following my return from CM last year. I'm sure a lot of what is below has been covered elsewhere, but hopefully these might address some of the questions I have read in this thread. - OVERVIEW: So last year we were, as you have guessed now, shown DiRT 4. If I had to describe it in a sentence, I would say its a game that combines the variety of DiRT 3 with the realism of DiRT Rally. - MENU: Front end menus were relatively simple, but the service area is a lot more graphic. The overall feel was reminiscent of DiRT 2, but less cartoony: and without the convoluted menus! - HANDLING: The game can be played with two types of handling: simulation or casual. Both modes are based on the same physics engine, but the casual mode applies more driving aids to the sim model to make it more point and squirt for the casual players. I played sim (on controller) and there were notable improvements from DiRT Rally, rally cars felt different under braking and behaved much better over rough ground at speed. Rallycross Supercars felt very different all around: way more of a handful than DR. - CLASSES: Rally, Rallycross and Landrush are the main race classes. There was also "another" area, where driving challenges are based (I'll cover that in a minute). - RALLY: Based around 5 locations: Wales, Sweden, Australia, Spain and the US (Michigan). - RALLY: Stages will be predefined in the career mode, but there is a random stage creation tool. - YOUR STAGE: I was genuinely impressed with Your Stage (or trackgen as it was called on the day). A stage creation tool had actually been hinted as a possibility before we got to CM and I was hoping that wouldn't be the case as I didn't think such a system would work that well. I thought a generation system would restrict you to flat, predictable, stage configurations, however with the stages that I sampled (most notably in Wales) there were a lot of direction and elevation changes. - RALLY CARS: The car list is loosely the same as the list from DiRT Rally. The only notable omissions are the 2010 rally cars (plus I also don't remember seeing the C4). The absence of the latter WRCars was probably the only disappointment of the day. However there are a lot of additions. including R2 and R5 rally car classes and the Evo 6 to the Group A class. There were around 25 cars available for us to try in November, with the rest represented by placeholders. - SUBARU: The hatchback STI in the R4 class has been replaced with the latest generation (NR4). The 2001 WRCar and Group A cars were still in. - RALLYCROSS: Rallycross has been increased to 5 tracks: Montalagre (Portugal), Lydden Hill (England), Loheac (France), Holjes (Sweden) and Hell (Norway). World Rallycross endorsement has been retained. I haven't been to Montalagre so I can't comment on the accuracy, but Loheac felt absolutely spot on (and we saw it before a lot of the trackside details had been added, so its sure to look even better in the finished game) - RALLYCROSS CARS: The rallycross Supercars have now got the Focus RS RX and the Seat Ibiza added, the Polo has been added to the S1600 rallycross line up (in place of the Corsa if I recall correctly), plus there are RX Lites, a Group B rallycross class (woo!) and cross karts as well. - LANDRUSH: Landrush has three tracks (one Mexican and two American). Landrush features Pro 2 trucks, Pro 4 trucks, buggies and cross karts. I had a couple of goes in the Pro 2 trucks and they felt really good. - DIRTFISH: The "other" area is Dirtfish. When the game loaded for the first time it dropped you in here first. I had a brief drive around and did some donuts in the big barn (where the GRC track ran through) before getting back to some racing. There are a number of racing challenges (block smashing and following a course) that utilize the Dirtfish environment. I was told the Dirtfish area comes in two forms: one flat and one with a few mounds and other obstacles added in. Nothing too over the top though. And no one mentioned the thing that rhymes with "Farm Calmer". Hopefully the above might resolve some queries!

I don't wanna be that guy but... only 5 locations for rally? I hope there will be more. Yeah, but there's basically infinite stages! Plus I think 3 landrush and 6 rallycross tracks 5 rallycross tracks! ;-)

Can't believe they included "S1 E2" in the announcement. That has just ruined everything.

Never underestimate the power of cake. Or curry.

Wait a minute... could this be a ploy to get free food? I'm a man of my word. If food is provided I will deliver the goods. I don't think @JZStudios can get a delivery to me in time though.

Reading too much into things is what we do here! This thread isn't almost 700 pages long for nothing. ;) That said, let's make up look for clues. Any significance to the Jolly Club livery? To be fair, half of that is actually house pricing and kebab pizzas, so... Oh, and the NDA trolls enjoying life on the other side of the fence... damn traitors! TELL US EVERYTHING YOU KNOW!!! I'll just go find that old torture table, now. You'll never break me! (Unless you've got beer, then there is a strong possibility I can be broken). How about Cookies? Overrated as a means of bribery I'm pretty partial to a cookie @Evilsmurf. I need specifics @JZStudios, what sort of cookies are we talking about and how soon can you get them to me?

Not sure how much I would trust DiRT weather forecasts...

Is it finally time for the previously rumored GRiT? One day, all Codemasters IPs will merge into one: "Micro Formula: GiRTkhana ShowRally" I'm still saddened I never got a chance to play Micro machines... I got V4 as a wee babby but my computer wouldn't handle it. Get on eBay, buy a Mega Drive and experience the greatness for yourself. I also had it for my Game Gear and many hours were killed on it.

Ah damn, didn't know you were at Brands!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder: I would pick a Fiesta WRCar to own over any current Ferrari without hesitation! -

I'm torn between the Hyundai and the Ford as the best looking car. I think the i20 looks the least radical of all the new cars, the Fiesta looks mad and sounds great. The Yaris does sound good, but it looks like a box: it's like a modern 6R4! Looking forward to seeing some video of the cars from @Rallycameraman.
