  1. I don't think we had a proper 2019 rallycross thread on the old forum, did we? With more news coming about the forthcoming World and GRC Europe Championships, I thought I'd start a thread up for all the 2019 rallycross Championships.   4. Cheers, saw the post after I posted on here! The official World RX Facebook page shared a slow motion clip earlier in the week, something I didn't notice before is that Bakkerud actually had space to move to his left before they reached the corner. Definitely a shame for Andreas, but can't help but think he could have been a bit more cautious there (much like Loheac last year). I have a huge amount of respect for Kenneth and he always seems quite controlled with his emotions, but Susann Hansen has always been very over the top with her celebrations in front of the camera and it seems like her kids are the same: especially Kevin. All the drivers/teams celebrate a win, but I always think the Hansen family look like they are trying too hard. I am told they are all great if you get to know them, but I find the way that Kevin, Timmy and Susann present themselves as seeming very artificial.
  5. His conversations about tea and spotting animals at the circuit/in the clouds during the live broadcast yesterday were pretty entertaining as well! Definitely an action packed weekend, but I can't help but think a lot of the drama is caused by the redesigned layout and a terrible turn one. That was a tough call with the final yesterday. Perhaps I am biased as a Johan fan - and yes, he could have given slightly more room - but he clearly had a better start and, when you watch the replay, Andreas was very late on the brakes. Uncharacteristic mistake from Ekstrom as well. Really surprised me to see him overshoot there. Agreed. Hard to deny that wasn't an excellent drive. Pity we had to endure the over the top display from Kevin after Timmy won, but definitely a step up in pace for the Hansen 208 (though that have been fast at Barcelona in the past). Johan just needs to outscore Mattias by three points now and the Championship is his. He may be slightly on the back foot for Spa, as he hasn't drive there before, but I doubt it will take him long to start breaking lap records!

    I know it isn't for everyone, but I love how rallycross is so well - and so realistically - represented in DR2.0. I'd be gutted to see that watered down in future DR titles.

    You talking about roof vents? The scoop is open at the back to allow air to flow through when the roof vent is closed. Otherwise the roof scoop would add a huge amount of drag. Subaru roof vent scoops are definitely open at the back.

I personally think the more recent transition plan for Supercars was MUCH better than the original one and is the approach they should have opted for in the first place; introduce electric as a standalone and then implement it in such a way that the upper tier of the Championship can be contested using either electric or petrol. The original deadline for total transition was unrealistic and I think was catering to the whims of a couple of manufacturers in the hope that others would follow. Of course with IMG departing now it remains to be seen how things will proceed with electric. With two of the bigger European teams (i.e. STARD and OMSE) so involved with electric development I would think they will be keen to carry on pushing it in some form.

    I don't use them enough! I am often tight for gaming time during the week, so I frequently jump into dailies with no warm up and I would almost certainly set a better time with a bit of practice! They are invaluable for adjusting driving style if you like changing classes a lot (which I do quite a bit).

Well the implementation plan for electric (prior to CV-19), was to open the World Championship up to petrol and electric entries next year... ...but I suspect that plan may be changed given how things have unfolded in 2020. The electric cars are slower at the moment, but they are still in their infancy and not a million miles behind the pace of their petrol counterparts. I don't think it will be long before they are a lot closer.
  15. I am rather envious @PJTierney: the British RX round at Lydden was good, but I am gagging to get to a World RX round this year! Latvia seems to have handled CV-19 so much better than anyone else. I was really surprised to see spectators in the grandstand for Drift Masters a couple of months ago and the situation is obviously still stable there given that they had the same again for the World RX rounds. Nice feature. I think his judgment of the Projekt-E cars is a little unfair, but does echo the thoughts of a lot of rallycross fans.

    Pretty sure the game doesn't has properly modelled ALS on any car. The audio is there, but the effect is not... ...another one for the DR3 wish list!

    I had a bit of a play in Dirtfish, then took the Fiesta onto the stages. Started in Spain on a short stage I use for comparing cars and I beat my fastest time, went to Wales for the same and beat my fastest time. Finally I went to Scotland and was about a second short. Car feels fantastic to drive. As planted as the Polo, but more agile.

    Looking forward to hearing this as well. The Polo has a very distinctive off-throttle noise in real life, be good to see if the CM audio squad have captured it. It's over. The i20 dream is officially dead.

    They are referring to a Toyota, not Ford, related incident. (and that particular incident actually involved the co-driver, not driver)

    Well no last minute i20 but, in the latest patch notes: "FIA World Rallycross Championship: Removed AI driver names which were mistakenly appearing when using 2019-spec cars." At least we haven't got the annoyance of seeing the GRX drivers without their cars!

    Why is Ford Escort Cosworth so slow?

    The Group A class is pretty skewed. The Delta is stated (and seems) to have a power advantage as its specifications seem to mirror those of the Integrale earlier in the Group A period (when the cars had a wider turbo restrictor). I find the EscCos the weakest car in the class, though I love driving it, so I frequently use it anyway. The Evo VI wasn't really a true Group A car, in that concessions were made to allow Mitsubishi to continue to run it. I am glad to see it in game, but it doesn't belong in Group A and, as has been suggested multiple times, I'd like to see a "late 90's" class with the S5 Impreza, Evo VI and perhaps the Mk.1 Focus as well. Furthermore I think Group A could actually be split in two, with the Delta, EscCos and Legacy in the first half and all with matched specification to a single year. The second half of the class would have the Impreza and an Evo III or IV (and, in a perfect world, the ST205 Celica!)... ...I accept that sub-categories of classes might be a bit much though, so I'd settle with a more realistically balanced single class.
