  1. Massively off topic, but I almost committed a DiRT induced murder last night: was having a quick gaming session before heading to bed and, after mixed results with the dailies, I carried on with a rally Championship. Driving the Group A Impreza in Greece (on one of the long stages) and, for some reason, I was absolutely on it. I came into the seventh sector with over 30 seconds on the AI (which was at the highest setting) and was on course for my best stage time by a very long margin.

As I was in the zone I wasn't aware that my girlfriend had come into the room and, seeing that I hadn't noticed her, she thought it would be a good idea to surprise me. One surprise later and my Impreza has hit a rock, flipped and is travelling down the road on its roof. I didn't get as far as saying anything to the girlfriend as I think the look on my face told her everything. She immediately left the room, leaving me seething and pondering where I might find the sharpest knife in the house./

    LOL - A Hummer H2 weighs 3 tonnes??

There IS no point, but does there need to be? I love the shape and the stainless steel.  I also live 20 mins from Belfast so have always had an interest in them.  And know it'l drive like crap, any classic car I have had does, but its not about how it drives, its more than that.
You must have posted this as I was typing my last post (either that or I completely missed it). Your last line is a very relevant one when it comes to car ownership/dream cars.  A particular car might drive like crap, look like crap and/or cost you a fortune, but some cars are capable of transcending all logical thoughts and still appealing to you!

  3. The Delorean is a hugely iconic car and I will always have a look if I see one at a car show, but I have absolutely zero desire to own one! Great concept but, for various reasons, massively flawed execution.

I was at a Pistonheads meet a few years ago and three showed up together. I briefly spoke with one of the owners and he said he was shocked that three of them all managed to have a weekend without breakages to make it there! :D

To be, or not to 22B. That is the question,
I laughed at that harder than I should have
That's a side-effect of spending too much time looking at the Dirty Gossip thread: the most terrible jokes become hilarious. Other known side effects include taking the most insignificant snippet of news and basing an entire game around them, looking at images posted by CM staff for non-existent clues and an uncontrollable urge to discuss pizza.

Im joining the wishes and would like to wish you a calm, relaxing family time.

Anyway, if some1 still doesnt have it, there is humble bundle 48 hrs free GRID:
    https://www.humblebundle.com/store/grid-free-game?hmb_campaign=grid_free_2016&hmb_source=bundle_page&hmb_medium=banner_cross
Is grid worth getting? The second one was pretty weird handling wise, couldn't really get used to it.
I thought the first GRiD was great, the second one was awful and Autosport was the game that GRiD 2 should have been.

Sagwaro is how I would say it, I also pronounce tortilla as tor-ti-yah (I'm english). Jaguar I say as it is in the UK, Jag-u-ar.

How would you pronounce GIF as in the file name? The creator of the file says it should be 'jiff' but everyone else says its how its spelt, giff.
Just please don't start the GIF - JIF battle here, it's gonna be S1 22B all over again
    Did someone say Subaru?

Sometimes new equipment is great, but its fun working with what you have till you know it inside and out and you seem to have done that :)
Fully agree with this @gfRally: financial reasons aside, I still feel like I have a lot more to learn with the stuff I have, so I'd like to be sure I'm getting the most out of that first!
I though Canon also had interchangeable lenses?
My friend went to the D810 for some reason or another... think it had more features he wanted or something. Maybe better lowlight or action? But it is nice that if I get a low end we can share lenses.
Yeah, the Canon lens are interchangeable @JZStudios. I originally bought a 500D kit a few years ago (which included the 55-250 and 18-55 lens), I sold the 500D body, bought the 60D and carried on using the same lenses. Sure I will do the same again if/when the 60D ever fails!

Good stuff!  I'll be back in the saddle soon enough then?  Albeit, rockin a pad...  B)
The pad is the controller choice of champions. Screw those wheel snobs @KevM.

  9. Wow, you get decent pics with the 55-250?
I struggle a bit for range at some tracks, but I'm really pleased with the results I've had over the years @F2CMaDMaXX. I did consider the 70-300 as a cheap upgrade, but I tried a friends and didn't really get on with it, so I have stuck with the 55-250 until I can afford something better!

Not gossip (and not sure if anyone is interested) but a few of my fave motorsport pictures from 2016...

It must be nice to have your own high quality camera.
Wish I had money for... well, anything really.
Guess I could always try and borrow my friends D810. What camera do you use?
I use a Canon 60D @JZStudios. Virtually every photo in that blog was taken with a Canon 55-250mm lens apart from the 6R4 bonnet shot, which was with an 18-55mm lens. It wasn't cheap for my pocket, but my setup is very low budget in photography terms! I'd like a better lens (or two), but they are more then I can afford at the moment.

PS: The shot of the CM pass was taken with my phone, hence the low quality!

Yeah, my buddy started out with a Rebel t3i, I believe, then stepped up to the Nikon. Only reason I'm looking at cheap(ish) Nikons is because he has crazy good lenses for them.
I'm a Canon guy, but I assume that the Nikon DSLR lenses are all interchangeable @JZStudios? I do like the fact that you can upgrade bits of your kit and still utilize all your existing gear.

Love that shot of Ryan Champion's car! Great to see it doing what it was meant to do.
I don't take many pictures during the Festival of Speed as there is so much to see I tend to leave my camera in the bag, I can't help myself on the rally stage though! The Goodwood rally stage isn't that fast, but when it rains it gets very slippy, so cars are normally sliding round lots. Ryan was one of the most entertaining to watch when I was there this year @BadD0g, plus his car sounds superb coming through the trees!

  11. Modern rallycars are nowhere near as difficult to control as the Group B monsters were, so I wouldn't worry about the drivers being unable to control them.
The FiA clearly aren't as confident in the drivers as you, given the restrictions on the new cars.

I personally think the new cars are great. Yes, I would love to see a return of Group A style homologation  and manufacturers having to put rally cars in the showroom... but I know that, in the real world, that era has long gone and a return to such regulations would scare most manufacturers off.

We now have four marques (perhaps five if VW do strike a deal) all with bonkers looking cars that should absolute smash the current stage times. I don't want to see the WRC become the sport of a chosen few, but I do want to see cars going as fast as possible and a decent scrap for the title. 2017 looks like it might deliver this, so I have high hopes for next year.

Come on guys it's Toyota, not Subaru, no need to be upset...  :joy:
I'd wager it's more like... every manufacturer. Compared to other racing games devs/publishers, Codies seem to have a really hard time getting licenses.
We're doing much better on the friend-making front at the moment. :)

There's no coming back from this one though, you savage! :D
