    Splendid!
I'm sorry, you guys are just too British.

OOOH! Guys, great news, Blocks put out another Gymkhana video! Unfortunately it's sponsored with FH3 so I guess CM won't have it next game. :'(

Ok, I would have to say that was nearly the best Gymkhana yet (besides the first with the Subie, of course )  And it was only 100 miles from where I live, may have to visit that site some time.

Too bad about him getting kicked out of Australia when trying to secure filming locations.  So funny that the land of MAD MAX frowns so much on hooning
Australia is very anti-hoon, I recall reading an article a while back on a chap in Australia who was building an XB GT Mad Max replica: he was having a nightmare with the authorities!

As for the video I enjoyed it, definitely one of the better ones, there are a couple of very cool shots in there.  I am still hopeful that Ken will ditch the modern machinery and break out his RS200 for a gymkhana video!

  2. All over the tea and biscuits situation. ;)

    Splendid!

And, I would love to see a few pictures from Loheac! Absolutely gutted we didn't stay. Watching it on TV wasn't the same, :( Although being at home did give me the opportunity to second screen between WRX and F1... the WRX was by far the better show though.
Will pop some pictures when I've finished sifting through them: I have pictures from the British Rallycross at Lydden to finish sorting first though!

  3. Hands up who think @ChristinaMc (knowing that @tbtstt missed them) is now rubbing ithe in our faces

Also, I don't like that the new PT area is being setup and I won't be able to schedule a flight to get there:(

Once again, harsh treatment from the Codemasters team. I'm sure they will be apologizing by way of tea and biscuits when they organize the community day though...

In other news I will make a start on my pictures from Loheac this week. Should have a few  pictures of all the fantastic racing that @ChristinaMc and co. missed because they went home early. I'm sure watching it on TV was just as good. ;)

According to the road book, gossip was able to be overheard at loheac. @tbtstt, what is it you're not telling us? ;-)
I absolutely swear that I heard nothing @Dytut: I'm actually kicking myself for not barging into the conversation when I saw @KickUp and co. on Friday. If I had known the team wouldn't be there over the weekend I would have done!

According to Twitter, they have all went home before race because of various commitments.

Seems a bit strange to drag all those people there, pack up and leave just prior to the racing.  Lot of people for a few photos and interviews, IDK maybe logistics required it.

    I think im just confused
They have all left already? That's disappointing, was hoping to try and glean at least a tiny bit of gossip.

(^ that's totally not gossip, but I've gotta tell someone)
But what is gossip is all the insider trading information you'll get out of @ChristinaMc while you're there. . ;)
I expect a full detailed report and analysis upon your return.
Things haven't got off to a good start @JZStudios: I saw @KickUp (and I think @ChristinaMc) in the paddock today. They had an entourage with them and they both blanked me. Cold.
Just yell at Paul, or find something to throw, like that complementary game disc we all got you. Then tell him to sign it and spill the beans.
I got a download code, the disc copy I bought myself! (and I haven't got that with me).

Just about to have the media briefing, so I shall go for a wander and see what I can see once that is done.

  8. On the assumption that the trip is related to rallycross and not French architecture/art/history/stones/wine research I see that as an encouraging sign: although I would like to see more real rallycross circuits included in current/future DiRT titles, I would especially like it if these were classic, established, rallycross tracks.

Loheac also has a rather large car museum beside it which, if I recall correctly, houses several iconic rallycross cars: possibly some research to be done there as well?

At about CA$1.19/litre, we're paying twice as much as Americans. I was going to feel bad until I read @tbtstt 's reply.

It's actually got a bit cheaper here in the last few months: at one point premium (99 RON) petrol was over £1.30 a litre (so over $8 a gallon!).

This is why I'm too much of a party pooper to dream properly—I'd love to own an STI! Oh but then I'd have to pay for premium. Forget it.
Haha! It's worth spending all your money at the petrol station @dwkGravey, honest!

I suppose. Tucson is pretty cheap for fuel. Little while ago it was back down to $1.80/gallon Which is still high considering all the gas sources we could tap on American soil.
I've also heard that the British economy is better than Americas, so even with those high taxes and all you guys have more spending money, then again that was also a few years ago.

$1.80 a gallon? Damn! Last time I filled up it was about £1.15 a litre. If my maths is correct that's roughly £5.20 a gallon, so about $6.80 a gallon at the current exchange rate!

Hmm...my 22 year old daughter has just moved to London for a job at Ogilvy and Mather. So the Lloyds come full circle. After she graduated college I thought I was done with paying for her but the salary she is getting as an intern will not cover the costs of renting an apartment in Kensington and her living expenses.
The cost of living in central London is horrendous, and it's continuing to climb. Pretty much everywhere within the M25 (that's the motorway that rings London for all you non-UK folk) is expensive as well
I could never have afforded a house in Britain, moved out at 30 and fcuked off to the States to marry and buy a house for half what it would have cost in the UK.
    ^ That.

In any case, I'm only 21, and the economy here sucks so hard that I can't even afford to try to go to college to try and move out. And you can't afford to move out on your own.
That sounds very familiar. I'm in the minority among my friends in that I stayed at home longer in order to accumulate enough money to pay for a deposit: most moved out and started renting and, once you're in the rent trap, it's hard to get out of it.

Still, you are paying a lot less for fuel than we are, so that should cheer you up!

If we are tossing numbers around, over the hill are 1-5million dollar homes (castles?), doesn't do me any good, except raises my property value some.
You said you had a cheap house.
And how do we know your house isn't lowering theirs? ;)

Here is a pic of my "cheap house"

Like I said, i have no problems, and no teeth
HA! The teeth line just made me laugh out loud! (and if that really is your house pre-restoration then that is cool as fuck!)

    Nope

so, I have now finished uni, and am currently in the process of saving up a lot of money for next year. Here's my problem though, I'm undecided what to spend it on:

Option 1- A two month trip from coast to coast in the USA, going pretty much everywhere, including an attempt on Seb Loeb's Pikes Peak world record in a hire car. Something I've wanted to do for a while

Option 2- A rally car and my first season in the BTRDA as a driver

    decisions decisions....
I'd say save up for two years. I have a friend who made it through college and saved just about every penny, almost 5 years later he's got almost everything 100% paid off, including his house, so pretty soon he'll have all his paycheck to spend on hobbies.
Ha, I take it you are in the US @JZStudios? I worked whilst in college and Uni so I didn't have to take any student loans out. I left uni with no debts so I could immediately start saving funds for a deposit on a house. I finally had enough to buy one last year: I'll be 58 when I finish paying for it.
Yeah, we only pay for ourselves here. Don't know how old you are now, but if it takes that long whatever you went to college for seems.... well... My friends about 30 and will have everything paid off in about 5 years, and that's with buying other things, like house renovations and a studio. Expensive house renovations. Like, stupid expensive.
I'm 34 now, was 33 at purchase. From the little reading I've done, I think there is a considerable difference in property prices between the US and the UK. The house I bought is a pretty compact two bedroom semi detached house: it was £260,000 and that was just before local property prices spiked again.

Holy cow, thats a lot for the US.  I have a smallish house with some nice acreage and a 2 car detached garage.  Paid way way less than that but its a 110 year old house so I have had to do some renovations (cosmetic) finished up inside now working on outside, but I DIY everything so I have saved a lot on labor.  Its been fun, but I am tired, hope next year to be done.  But I am 43 and I will have have it paid off when I am 65, seems like a long road ahead.
The place I bought is a relatively new build (mid-80's) but it had previously been tenanted, so it needed some love: it's had a new bathroom, external doors, windows and fencing since I bought it. Also had to strip many, many, layers of wallpaper from the walls of all the room so they (and the ceilings) could be plastered: plasterer is due to do the last two ceilings tomorrow morning, which will be another milestone. Then I can start worrying about heating...

Most important jobs I have done on the house so far: built a shed and fully painted the garage!
