Just post it in the thread, it wouldn't be the DiRTy Gossip thread without a bit of off topic... :smiley:austinb said:Nice write up, but I still have a question about that will PM you to avoid wandering off topic.

Not trying to start an argument over something minor (though that is the DiRTy Gossip way), but it is just E2...austinb said:RyuMakkuro said:
Yes, and we got that car with the Pikes Peak release :paustinb said:People keep saying the renaults are likely to be added, but didnt we (ages ago) have as good as confirmation that they were planning/hoping to add the Audi Sport Quattro S1 at some point?
It's the Audi Quattro E2 that has a chance of still appearing in the game. At least that was basically the answer to my question of "Is there any hope of Quattro E2 ever appearing in the game or we should abandon that boat?".
Its not even like the 22b situation where its clearly the wrong name, theres no clear cut official name of the quattro we're talking about. Yes its generally know as the E2 but its still an S1. We've been through this loads already.

...you are dead right though: the rally E2 and Pikes Peak E2 are of course two different cars! -
Ah, has that title been revised? Last I heard the board were still pushing DiRT Awesome Radical Sideways Experience?RodgerDavies said:

I would think that any further content from that point onwards will be DLC: though perhaps the console sales will fund some free extras further down the line! ;) -
Yeah, I would guess that any addition content that is set to appear on the console release will be provided free to PC gamers. Makes sense for both versions to be "equal" at release, doesn't it?RyuMakkuro said:
I'm fairly certain it will be. They mentioned the new stuff will come in an update, not a DLC. You don't pay for updates to the game after all. If there will be any DLCs, probably after console release. Maybe some new locations will be possible then.JuanDíaz said:And.. will be the next content available for free?

I don't have any days off... but I can quickly arrange one if the doors at Codemasters might be open!Rallycameraman said:

I'm actually a little disappointed that they didn't have any DiRTy Gossipers in there first to test things for the press... :smiley:RallyDriven said:https://twitter.com/dirtgame/status/691586197223821312
not sure how to imbed tweets, but heres another pic, and confirmation it's press day for consoles. Also shows a slightly new menu layout, and the tutorials section -

I'm assuming "Turbo maintain" is the anti-lag. If the anti-lag was at it's most aggressive setting (which I assume it would be in stage), the would have no engine braking and be providing drive even with zero throttle.versedi said:PaloSamo said:
I know about that but it sounded weird and I didn't wanted to be taken as a total retard in english ;)Robert is not able to pull the handbrake, so he pushes it instead. This part of the track is very tricky. SS6 and Camilli off 200m further down the road.
Lefebvre hit a tree but made it to the end of the stage. Tanak also.
Mikkelsen spun.
Monte takes it's victims.
Update from Bobby about the accident on SS3, translated by me so there may be some mistakes:
"After 6kms there was a one kilometer of an icy road and unfortunately there on this right corner we've slipped of the track.
I'm a bit disappointed. We've never tested on ice while we've driven with tyres for dry tarmac (slicks). I've analyzed the situation from corner before which was also icy but the grip wasn't so bad in there as I've supposed.
If this wouldn't be enough I've didn't switch off the turbine maintain [v: wrong translation for sure]. When we got of from the right turn without gas and without pressing the brake the turbo maintain was still pushing the car forward and we've slipped of the road and ended up hitting a tree with left front.
As I've said before I'm disappointed because a moment before I've thought that it won't be so bad, and next corner it happened that there was more ice and we're a passengers. At 25km/h there was nothing we could do".
Well the turbo maintain switch explains a lot. That's how it's called?

Absolutely! I don't care how rubbish I'd be, if I could get someone to fund rally and rallycross drives for me then I'd take the opportunity in a heartbeat!RodgerDavies said:I must admit, the film Easier Said Than Done really helped me to understand Ken Block as the man with a passion for the sport, who used that media persona to be able to do the thing he loves. It might grate when the YouTube generation overhype him, but there's not one of us here that wouldn't do the same given the chance.
That's a request that a few of us have mentioned before. It would be fantastic to see early 90's rallycross cars in period specification: and some period tracks to race them on as well!b0yc1e said:I think this is a massive opportunity for Bakkerud and iv got to tip my hat to Mr Block, agreeing/choosing such a competitive team mate.
Great to see 80s/90s being mentioned, now there's an idea retro Rallycross pack
Brands hatch Rallycross track and a selection of our favourite cars & divers
Doran/Button/Gollop/Schanche :)
I could be mistaken, but I think the WRX license might cover them for that? If they do feature Block's Fiesta in game, then someone needs to get the Codemasters sound guys a day with Block (or Bakkerud's) Fiesta: it sounds rather mean and it would be great to have that bought into the game!VirtuaIceMan said:Ken Block is licensed up with Electronic Arts and appears in the latest Need For Speed game, so unless any future licensing covers all the cars and drivers of WRX, I seriously doubt he'll be back in a Codemasters game any time soon! -
Yeah, paint trading in rallycross is nothing new, as @KingOfCoins European Rallycross clip...BrySkye said:

It turns into reality tv very quick.
...neatly demonstrates. Having said that I would still agree with @gfRally that there is a difference between the hard racing of 80's/90's rallycross and the mindless track-induced carnage of the GRC.KingOfCoins said:

I can't reiterate how glad I am that Codemasters favoured the mature World Rallycross Championship over the showy Global Rallycross Championship for DiRT Rally.
In defense of the GRC it was "Global" for a year (2013) when X-Games held several international events and GRC rounds were a part of it. It has subsequently only ventured as far as Barbados though, which does make the "Global" title a little difficult to justify. I must confess I quite enjoyed it in the start, but this continued insistence on 10 car grids, poor track design and some stupid rule-making decisions have put me off.austinb said:Ive always found it very arogant that they called it the GLOBAL RallyCross Championship. What is global about it?
It just enhances the stereotype for america being full of arogant, stupid people who think they are the best and/or only thing going on in the world.
Which is sad when there are plenty of absolutely great people from america, but they're just represented so appalingly.
I'm actually curious to know how the departure of Block has gone done with the powers-that-be in the GRC: he was one of the most iconic drivers of the series and one of the few consistent entrants since day one. -
If I recall correctly Ford are providing support to M-Sport, just not with their WRC program. I'm sure the R2 Fiesta is manufacturer back and I understand Ford Motorsport have switched support for a rallycross program from OMSE to M-Sport for 2016.
-
Fully agree with you both; I'm sure it's a comment I've made here before, but I think the PR machine behind Block is, in my opinion, both his biggest strength and greatest weakness.austinb said:
Im pretty sure this is exactly the problem people have with "him". Not him himself, but his image as projected by the unknowingly ignorant populace, as "the best driver eva dude!"KingOfCoins said:
I cant speak for everyone, but my issues with him for a long time wasn't Ken himself. It was his fans treating him like he is the greatest rallydriver to ever live because of the gymkhana videoes. The GRC didn't help either who hyped him up just as much.function9 said:Being someone that has no interest what so ever with Gymkhana, I still don't get why Block is hated so much. I've never seen/heard/read an interview of him where he's stated how great he is. He always comes across as an extremely humble and grateful person. And is well aware of the differences between Gymkhana and rallying. I could understand if he was some arrogant little ****, but it doesn't appear to be that way at all.
That faded when I saw him on his own in WRX in 2014 ironicly enough.
The fact he has got his name out there (and he PR team have convinced a large proportion of the populace that he is a "driving god") has greatly helped to fund his rally hobby but, as a consequence, it has also alienated him from a lot of established rally fans.
I still think the best thing (PR wise) Block has done was the interview with Drive a couple of years ago...

...I have changed a few peoples opinion on Block by showing them this clip! -
I don't think he is going to win the World Rallycross Championship either, but he we surely be challenging for race wins: and I hope silencing a lot of his critics in Europe.gfRally said:
I really like Ken Block, he has done a lot of work to 'get the word out' about rally here in the states. However, I don't expect him to do all that great in WRX. Why? Because every championship he has attempted to win, he has come up short. Rally America, came down to the last round, crashed and lost. GRC, lead the points up to second from last race, crashed and lost it. He's smart enough to know his competition and skills to attempt a full WRC season.b0yc1e said:Good morning
So ken block coming to WRX, teaming up with Bakkerud
Any chance 2016 teams are going to make it ?
Or maybe DLC ?
The other bit of news Guy Martin doing a round of the
British Rallycross championship :)
He has talent, but lacks the patience it seems to follow through. He tries to follow the McRae "flat out" attitude, but that age has passed with the technical precision that is applied today in racing.
So like I said, I'm a fan, but not expecting a season win in WRX.
His two drives in the Championship back in 2014 seemed to surprise a lot of people, I hope a full season will bring more of the same. And hey, without the first turn lottery of the GRC to deal with, perhaps a Championship title isn't an entirely unrealistic proposition... -
I've got my fingers crossed that Guy will be driving at Lydden, otherwise it's going to be a long drive to see him in action!b0yc1e said:Good morning

Fully agree: you just know he is going to end up in a bush, but right up until that point he is usually fantastic to watch.austinb said:Anyone else, feel like the championship will loose something when Kubica leaves it after Monaco? Yes he's not been successful, but he's only been rallying 5 years or so... and is certainly right up there for pace when hes not in a ditch. (and arguably the quickest on tarmac)
He is certainly one of the most exciting drivers to watch.
I guess there is only so long you can fund a driver like that though... -
Yeah, I agree with @YoMrWhite . VW threw money at the WRC program and were using all arms of the VAG to accumulate data on the car and experience for their drivers.YoMrWhite said:PaloSamo said:I wouldn't rule out Toyota for 2017. Look what VW did in their debut 2013 season.
VW had Ogier and Mikkelsen as test drivers for the whole year 2012. After fighting for the title with Citroen, Ogier basically took a year off, competing only in a few events in WRC2 for Skoda. This worked obviously great. Now on the other hand, Toyota couldn't lure Meeke away from Citroen and all the other top drivers are under contract, too. Maybe they could still get Evans. But right now it looks as if development is in the hands of retired drivers and/or youngsters. No ideal scenario for sure. I could even imagine them to unretire Hirvonen.
I really hope that Toyota are competitive in 2017, but the way the program has been run thus far does not fill me with confidence. -
My thoughts exactly! I thought it would be bouncing all over the place!F2CMaDMaXX said:Wow, surprisingly steady considering the footage we saw of it being taken, who do i say i told you so, to? -
I so hope it's the 555 livery: given that they have recently re-recorded the Group A Impreza all it needs now is the right livery and I'll be in Group A heaven once the game is released on console...versedi said:So Martini or 555? What's your guess? Maybe both?

Agreed! A proper livery for the Group A Impreza would be very poignant and it's something that has been lacking from the DiRT series.versedi said:@BrySkye pointed out very important thing - liveries in consoles can't be replaced.
I think we might be getting some new liveries to a few cars. It's definetely not the new Subaru, it's not poignant
I know someone (Paul?) stated sometime ago that SWRT liveries were a nightmare to get the green light on (plus the early liveries include a tobacco company, which is of course a big no no). I assume Codemasters have had some success with SWRT though, as they managed to get the S8 Impreza WRC in game? Perhaps this now extends to the Group A car: I certainly hope so!
Based on the comment from @KickUp on Twitter that it was guessed "in the last hour" from his tweet I think we can (sadly) rule out it being the S4 Impreza WRC: that was suggested a couple of days ago. The first livery guess looked pretty close to his initial tweet though!
-
I personally don't think it's this: what relevance would the McRae name have to the game at this point? If I recall correctly the family gave the green light to the name being used with DiRT 2 as Colin had some input on the game.gfRally said:Ok figured out "the cool thing" that has been missing for 5 years, if I'm right, it's so obvious that it's hitting us square between the eyes. The McRae name will be associated with DiRT (Rally) again. The box art was a diversion or placeholder for 'something special' to replace it.
Including more of his cars would be awesome, but tacking his name onto a game he had no input on would, in my personal opinion, be in rather poor taste.
As others have already said, it can't be this as the car has only been around a year!KevM said:versedi said:Back to gossip guys!
