Fully agree! I have been hoping for a number of years that Ford would produce an RS version of the Fiesta but, as you say, that sort of treatment seems to be reserved for the bigger models in the range.TonyRickard said:
The Fiesta is bigger then the Chevette, Sunbeam & Escort which all felt like real rally cars back in their day. I think it helped having the homologation specials as road going cars. These days it seems from a size perspective the Fiesta and Polo work as rally cars yet the roadgoing top performance versions are reserved for the more expensive Focus and Golf models. Obviously this is to maximise profits but it seems a shame we can't have the rally car matching the road car, then perhaps we wouldn't feel as if rally cars had become fast shopping cars?tbtstt said:
I must confess I much prefer the look of the Fiesta over the Focus. Ford will be keen to market the Focus RS though, so I using the Focus would make sense from a PR point.RyuMakkuro said:
Yes please. I'm sick and tired of the Fiesta, bring on the proper rally Ford :DI'd also like to know if the rumours are true and he will be running a Focus in the World RX. -

The M-Sport Fiesta is, to put it mildly, a weapon @MastaVonBlasta ! I think many would say it's the most developed rallycross car in the world at present.MastaVonBlasta said:I personally don't mind and I'm intrigued to see how he fares against really fast drivers in World RX. I'm sure @tbtstt will know more, but M-Sport prepared RX Fiesta with Ford Performance support won't be a slow machine...
Despite all the criticism, Block is fast as well. When Block ran at Loheac in 2014 he set the fastest lap on the circuit (a circuit he had never driven on before): no one came close to that lap time in either 2014 or at last years Loheac round.
You could argue that the car might have helped him be that quick, but I could get in that car tomorrow and not get close to his lap time: so there must be at least some talent there! I'm so pleased that Block will be running in the World Championship: I hope it means he will be dropping the Global Rallycrash Championship from his calendar. I'd also like to know if the rumours are true and he will be running a Focus in the World RX.

Skoda is a good shout. If I recall correctly the S2000 Fabia was pulled from DiRT 3 due to licensing issues, so perhaps they have finally sorted it? -
Team BMR have announced they will be running a new car in 2016...
...they will be using the Subaru Levorg Tourer:
http://www.btcc.net/2016/01/12/subaru-enter-btcc-with-team-bmr/
Really didn't see that coming! Not entirely sure on the choice of platform, the estate really didn't work out well for Honda lets hope its a more inspired choice here. Great to read they will be utilizing the boxer engine though: hope that means there will be some Subaru burble! -
Ha! Yeah, I agree that a rally school might be seen as a lot of effort for something that people will only play through on a handful of occasions but, as you say, the addition of a "playground" (in whatever form that might come in) would make the rally school feature much more worthwhile: and something you would be more inclined to revisit in order to play round with car settings.MastaVonBlasta said:BrySkye said:I'd personally hope it's not a rally school but if it is, well... be interesting to see what the data says about how many people actually use it and for how long.
I completely understand what you mean.
What if it was more than just a tutorial, but it also came with a practice/fooling around area?
For example a large tarmac area, near a de-comissioned power station, in London because it's a famous location.
You could do drifts, slides and donuts... Oh, wait....
Joking aside if it's a Rally School I'd welcome a practice area to try out cars and tweak setups quickly.
As you say, these would both be features worth getting excited about... but I really can't see either being feasible options.MastaVonBlasta said:
Stage generator/editor/builder - doubt it, that would be a very expensive feature..
Livery editor? Doubt it.
(Livery editor would be cool though: we might finally be able to see the 555 livery on the console!) -
Been following the conversation on Twitter and this does make things interesting: as said above most of the cars we want have been a part of DiRT at some point, so what on earth could it be? One of McRae's earlier WRC cars perhaps? The Legacy or the S4/S5 Impreza WRC?gfRally said:https://twitter.com/Kick_Up/status/686863752889810944
Or a bigger feature, like the rally school? -
Not strictly DiRTy Gossip, but M-Sport have gone blue for 2016...

...have to say, I rather like it! -
I bought the DVD on release and have popped it on a couple of times now. I daresay it's not a film you'll be watching every weekend, but it's definitely a documentary worth having in the collection (in my personal opinion anyway).F2CMaDMaXX said:Yeah, you can rent on a couple of services, but honestly, it's then a toss up as to whether i'll watch again and keep forever by paying a little more.:D
A physical copy is also great for getting signed if you happen to run into anyone featured in it...

Happy New year gossipers!
I'll try, but I can't promise that if someone mentions a 22B I won't crack @gfRally...gfRally said:New Years Resolution: let's talk more Gossip, stop trying to correct each other, it's really not that important beyond having a little fun with each other.
I think this thread has lost it purpose a little.
Missing Lee feeding us hints and keeping us guessing.
The BX is like the Peugeot 307 WRC of the Group B era: it would certainly add to the numbers, but it's hard to get excited about it!YoMrWhite said:We already have most of the Group B cars. And I don't think anybody is waiting too eagerly for the Citroen BX 4x4. -
The info at this link is indeed correct: I too spent many years with the wrong interpretation of the quattro Sport designations.BrySkye said:
It's not. :p Amazingly enough, Wiki is wrong.Jepsertti said:
The official name is Audi Quattro S1 E2.RyuMakkuro said:
That's easy then. They are making a fictional car, so they don't need a license :p Remember, it's Quattro S1 and Quattro E2, not Quattro S1 E2 ;) I learnt my mistake, now I'm keeping the proper naming.phil94ma said:

Rather more detailed, sourced account including where the misconception came from.
There is more information on the subject in the (very excellent) McKlein quattro book...
...much like the Impreza WRC/22B nomenclature the incorrect designations for the Sport quattro are so widespread on the web (including Wiki!) I'd say it's virtually impossible to correct them all!

My thoughts exactly: most likely the video, but perhaps they are hinting at something else.F2CMaDMaXX said:I'm curious if they're referring to anything else, but the video is likely it. It is just the intro vid though.
They may have something else lined up, but I suspect the documentary that they have mentioned will be this one...versedi said:

Are you thinking of the documentary that's meant to be included with the physical version of the game in April?versedi said:Wasn't there supposed to be released some documentary movie about Colin as a present? I think something like this passed somewhere through my eyes.

Fully agree: all with the exception of the PC Gamer review that is!RallyDriven said:Really glad it's getting such good reviews, and that the reviewers are getting a proper understanding for what the game is about -

I just listened to the show again to see if I missed any details or gossip. I'm having to play it at the lowest quality (because the internet at work is awful!), I can't quite make out what @KickUp says after he mentions my award: it sounds like "you've got a copy you've already got waiting for you. Congratulations"? Am I hearing that right?gfRally said:Congrats to those that 'won' recognition yesterday! That was fun to hear. Also to @evilsmurf , I didn't realize how much you have been doing to fill in for Lee, maybe you will have a future doing this paid :)
Gossip? I didn't really hear anything regarding new content (new liveries?) or DLC between now and April, so I'm not going to hold my breath or have any hopes.
It was interesting to hear about @kickup messing around with a Porsche in DR, sounds like a curiosity for them to try. He pretty much shot down the possibility of having that car in any game because of the cost of licensing.
So I guess we could start pondering the next title -
Sorry @RallyDriven, I'm a strictly Sony guy, so it's PS4 for me! -
I will do! In fact I'm sure you are already on my contact list for PS3?Evilsmurf said:I'll be picking it up on PS4 also, feel free to add me once you get one. My id is in my sig.

Just listening to the show whilst at work. Thanks very much for the award @Hatward and @KickUp: it's quite a consolation that my frustration at not being able to play has been noted!
I shall be shopping for a PS4 post-Christmas and then counting down the days until April! (and waiting to see if you've got VIP to work on console ;) ) -
I have looked at the advert for that car several times in the last fortnight: congrats on the purchase and best of luck for next year!Rallycameraman said:So this is happening in 2016

Ah, that's it: I knew I had read something about tutorials!gfRally said:No rally school, this:
"For fresh players, we've developed a detailed set of tutorial videos that cover all aspects of driving a rally car. We want to teach players how to handle our cars, rather than making things easier."

More rallycross tracks would be great, especially if they focus on the permanent World Rallycross tracks rather than the temporary ones. Would be amazing to see Loheac in game and, although its a recent addition to the Championship, Mettet would be good as well (though turn one at Mettet is likely to be utter carnage online!). -
That's what he said when he got the drive with MINI! Citroen seem committed though and I really hope it comes together for Meeke.YoMrWhite said:For Meeke, a 3-year-contract is a nice and welcome new experience, after being under contract for only one year twice in a row. It is?! I know they have made mention of breaking console players in to the experience (which I guess would be best done with a rally school), but I didn't know if that had been officially confirmed?...Dytut said:Some form of rally school is confirmed for console release, isn't it?
...I seriously cannot wait for the console release! -
I'd like to see @KickUp announce a gymkhana add on, purely to see how much Twitter and the forum would go into melt down! :smiley:dgeesi0 said:hmmm gymkhana anyone ? :D my body is my own and im 6ft 7
Having said that I still think a rally school or Battersea like area would be a good addition purely to allow you to play with the cars and car settings.
