I agree, but they can't just turn around and make the 2019 cars slower than the 2018 ones. They would need to change the tire model across all RX cars. Tires are way too effective at maintaining both lateral and longitudal grip at the same time. Some of it also cooks down to circuit inaccuracies.

All I'm hoping for is that the Megane won't be as OP and the one car to rule them all..

Agreed on all points. The cars do seem too quick, but if the 2019 cars are slower than it wouldn't be right.

With regards to the Megane I thought DiRT 4 had the same problem with the Focus RS RX: for some reason a long wheelbase car seems to be the fastest!

(that said I still hope they find a way to bring the Focus RS RX and DS3 into the game: though the possibility of some sort of ARX themed DLC seems highly unlikely now)

  2. I agree with @JorritVD concerning Topi: he has had some good one-off drives, but didn't really impress when he ran full seasons in the Polo and S1.

I'm expecting to see Wiman back again next year, though I think more likely for odd drives rather than a full season.

Would be great to see Foust return, but only if he is in competitive machinery. Last time I saw him in action (at Lydden) the car was plagued with issues. I think the Marklund Polos would be good for the ERX, but they are too outdated to be useful in the WRX now.

I really hope that OMSE make a return to the World Championship in 2020. I think Sebastian Eriksson deserves a full time drive and, if the performance at Hojles last year is anything to go by (and I appreciate that conditions were in their favour), they could be real contenders.

Its called Le Mans '66 in all the territories that actually know what Le Mans is! 😄

Sorry, not 'footage' but recreated racing scenes. It's a dramatisation of real events. But it's hair-on-balls-tingling good feature film racing nonetheless.

Saw it last night and the race scenes are very well done. The film is very much like "Rush": some liberties taken with the truth, but for the most part fairly accurate.

Incidentally, if you haven't already read it, pick up the book "Go like Hell": its what the screenplay was based on.

I didn't know that and, now that I do, GRiD just moved up my "games to buy" list!

(I assume the Circuit de la Sarthe is in game?)

If Subaru do join WRX who do we think would get the drives? Would love for Wiman to get a perma drive, could happen given his time in ARX Subies

As has been suggested I think an RX Cartel team is a strong possibility. I wonder if they might field four cars in two different teams? Maybe Speed, Sandell, Bakkerud and Doran?

That’s sad...Citroen made history in the world rally championship,it was unbeatable for so many years that is hard to believe this is going to an end...

would be awesome to see Subaru starting a wrx program for 2020...

Had such high hopes for Citroën when they returned, but it just hasn't worked out. Who would have thought a couple of years ago that Toyota, whose program seemed to be all over the place in the early days, would have won the Championship while Citroën have what many consider to be the worst car in the field.

And a Subaru return would be cool... but I can't see that happening anytime soon!

Just a thought but maybe it is because WRX cars all use the same FIA approved electronics which the US based cars probably don't have.

That's a possibility, though the suggestion is that it is an issue with the engine itself rather than engine management.

I understood that the ARX regulations were pretty similar to the WRX rules and, given that the Beetle (or rather accusations about the Beetle) were seemingly connected to the introduction of that ECU/software regulation in WRX, then I would be surprised if the ARX rulebook didn't copy it.

If that is the issue then it is a relatively cheap problem (compared to the price of a Supercar!) to fix.

I’m talking about in game information...you talk about only technical improvements...so the car is going to be aesthetically the same?(that’s my question and curiosity since yesterday, if we are going to see a different car or not,so is the same car model but only with different stats and liveries?or they have worked also in more in dept aspects?)

Aside from the liveries I'd expect the car to look identical: as I said in my earlier post I'd expect to see the differences in lap times!

Btw, some say Boxer engines aren't allowed in RX, but in the technical regulations i don't find anything about it. Actually I found this:

I have been trying to find out more about this. You are right that Boxer engines are allowed, but I understand that the engines in the Vermont cars don't comply with the World RX regulations: though I can't figure out why.

Will keep asking and post an answer here if I get one!

The stard mk7 it’s awesome and is the most evolved version ,almost no one in world rx use the old Omse anymore...honestly in the game I was expecting that version of the mk7 (the wider body one used by baumanis in 2018) the actual fiesta version in the game it’s wrong with the 2018 stard liveries...

this is the correct 2018 wrx season fiesta

Honestly the amount of evolutions of Fiestas used in WorldRX is confusing af, not surprised they made some mistakes in game 😂

It's "right" in that it is modelled on a Fiesta used in International rallycross, but wrong in that the Baumanis livery has been put on the incorrect design of the Fiesta. Ditto for the Nitiss livery, which should be on an M-Sport Fiesta.

The above has been an issue throughout the DiRT games to feature modern rallycross cars though: the Peugeot 208, Fiestas, DS3... all have sported multiple real liveries, though the actual model for their real life counterparts all differ slightly...

...problem is, when CM respond to the complaints of the die-hard rallycross fans who want to see every variant correctly modelled, they get asked why they are putting multiple versions of the same car in game! :classic_laugh: I daresay it is something that might be more confusing to the pure rally fans, as you don't get the same thing with World Rally Cars.

How are the new cars different from the old ones? Because it looks like the same cars again to me.

I understood the 2019 S1 refinements to be mechanical, not cosmetic. The proof will be in the lap times: the 2019 S1 should be marginally quicker, ditto for the 208!

do you guys know what the different Fiestas are? after a bit of googling I think I've got it...

    • the RXS Evo 5 is the Mk8 that Baumanis used all year and Try/Paasonen/Kalliokoski got from round 4. All for Stard.
    • the Stard one therefore is the Mk7 that Paasonen and Try used the first three rounds?
    • that leaves the Rallycross Mk8, which is presumably what OMSE ran for the Eriksson brothers in Holjes?

imo if this is the case, it's a little much... 3/9 being the same vehicle? I don't feel like we really need the Mk7...

Yeah, I guess the quantity of Fiestas is a bit much though, as a dedicated rallycross fan, I think it is great to see the distinction between the cars on the grid...

...I appreciate the number of players who are likely to appreciate such specific detail is pretty small though!

I have followed Andreas vLog all season and pre season...but I don’t remember him talking about change or evolutions in the car 😕 ...but I remember very well that he always say that he was always out of money as a team 😂

Here you go, official press release from EKS before the 2019 season kicked off:

    https://www.eksrx.com/news/news-from-the-source/

"On the entry list are three drivers that will drive the Audi S1 EKSRX quattro which EKS Audi Sport drove successfully during the 2018. These cars have gotten some updates, rebuild and is ready to race again and hopefully to continue the success story of the Audi S1."

Sure EKS discussed about further refining the car during the 2018/2019 off-season period. I don't believe they were radically changed, just tweaked.

Don't forget that Bakkerud/RX Cartel were just hiring the cars from EKS, they don't own them.

Why they release again the eks s1 Quattro? The car Bakkerud and Doran used this season it’s the same as the 2018 evo...right?

Minor refinements were made to the cars in the off season, same for the MJP Peugeot 208's (which were the cars that Peugeot-Hansen used in the first part of the 2018 season).

I could be completely wrong (wouldn't be the first time!), but kind of makes sense for CM to lead with those two as they are the two cars that fought for the title this year: I'd expect those two to be among the quickest in the class (though hopefully not so quick that they render the rest of the cars pointless).

Season 4 DLC cars release have shuffled a bit.

    Original

    Now
    image.png.faf5e6aca6f8d3e7b68eb390f006e028.png

Maybe this could confirm my theory about the Projekt E car might come after season 4 (which outside look similar as the RXS Evo 5 from STARD).
Also I think the development time for the Clio takes a bit more time that the Fiesta which could use parts from the OMSE MK8.

Which new car you guys looking forward the most?

I am looking forward to seeing the Ibiza make a return, playing round with the new Fiesta variants and seeing if the DR2.0 version of the Clio RX RX is more reliable than the real life version...

...though I am very glad to see the S1 moved to the front of the release queue now: it's easily my most used 2018 Supercar thus far!

And still is, but sadly not WRX. Been there 2 times this year at rallycross festival and folkrace event. It's one of the tracks that are in 50km radius from where I live. :classic_laugh:

My friend got neat pictures from that folkrace event.

Apologies, my post could have been better worded: yeah, really miss seeing the World Rallycross there, but still brilliant to see the circuit being used for folkrace and, as shown in the clip from @mats27...

    ...RallyX Nordic as well.

Seeing Oliver Solberg in the clip reminds me of one of my all time favourite rallycross moments: the PSRX team beating the **** out of the DS3 to try and get the car into the final. Think that was Kouvola 2014?

more importantly though... where are these numbers from? because you just showed the problem with them yourself: you took Bennett's BEST times, and compared them to whoever was fastest that round. the fastest driver might not have driven their best possible times, even if they were first.

also, you're ignoring all the times he made a mistake and lost a lot of time or DNF'd himself, which was a lot (I am not talking about mechanical issues here, I'm talking about going off track because of driver error).

Yep. Bennett is (just about) competitive at a National level, but he just isn't close to the World guys. It's cool to participate at the top level, but I still maintain that running in the Euros in the Fiesta would see him consistently racing people and not trailing at the back collecting places purely thanks to other peoples woes.

Has there been any rumour about the two TBC 2020 rounds? We know there won't be a UK round this year, but other than that, they could be anything.

Just rumours. I still think Riga is a strong possibility if they can get the financial issue resolved. Russia and Finland have been mentioned a few times with regards to the July date.

EDIT: Ha, beaten to it with the answer to Oscar97!

  17. The MINI might be competitive on a single lap - but then it should be really given the parts and money that have gone into it - the problem is, it is not reliable.

I think Oliver would have accrued more useful experience in the tried and tested Fiesta than in the MINI which goes fast for a few laps then breaks.

There are a LOT of Fiestas out there as well, so there is likely to be a lot more setup data available. With the MINI you have an inexperienced driver trying to setup an inconsistent and unreliable car. Bennett has set himself up to fail (in my personal opinion anyway).

NB: I would have to disagree with you about the significance of that lap time difference: in World RX 1.5 seconds a lap is a considerable margin. I think he'd have a far better time in Euro RX.
