When you say the track is boring, are you referring to the rallycross track that appears in the game, or the main tilkedrome? The latter definitely is boring, but it doesn't the rallycross track is.

From a spectating standpoint I personally think the Yas Marina rallycross track is pretty boring but, exactly like Silverstone, it is much more fun to drive than it is to spectate.

Normal laps I can do 40, low 41 without cutting

Typo on my part: 42.0 is my average, 41.4 is my best thus far! (and I'm not cutting)

Will check out the video before racing again to see where I can shave more time off.

Does the game not show the time penalty the moment it detects an infraction? If you cut really bad and trigger a reset zone you get reset on track with an instant message with the time penalty.

Yeah, it does normally and I didn't notice one, that's why I wondered if I got it after the car ran straight on after the finish.

    What times are people setting?

Averaging 42.0, fastest lap has been a 41.4 (in the S1).

The 4-5-6-7 complex is deceptively difficult.

Agreed! Much like Silverstone, its a circuit that seems to be very easy to over drive and lose time. I am not that consistent with the last hairpin either: I keep initiating too early and having to correct to avoid the marker on the inside of the turn.

Has anyone else got a penalty after crossing the line? I have been going flat out over the line on the last lap to get the best time, but then I noticed I seem to have picked up a time penalty?

This year at Lydden, when it hit the blocks into turn 1 I believe. Big mess!

Ah yeah, that was when he collected half the body work from the quattro on his way round!

One of the mechanics for the team posts on another forum I'm on, the damage wasn't as bad as expected (new front upright, new suspension, new wishbones, new bonnet, new bumper, new radiator and some repairs to the tub): still pretty expensive work though!

A challenging track. Need some practice to get it right. Saying that, the AI is pretty slow. My first race against the AI (100%), and I made a lot of mistakes, and still was 5 seconds ahead 😮

Yeah, I think the AI needs tweaking.

Much like Silverstone, although I am not overly enamoured with it in real life, it is a challenge in game.

Having now driven it in DR2.0, I can understand the issues with the finishing line and joker.

  6. Skimmed through the ARX coverage last night, that circuit definitely put the "rally" into rallycross.

Very interested to learn more about the S1 EKS are taking to Rally Legend. It certainly looks like a "proper" rallycross car, be interesting to see how it fairs over any sort of distance.

free stuff - including two locations - very likely (in Feb). 9/10.

    New locations? Oooooh, I'm intrigued!

My real motivation for asking is, if we are to get more seasons, then it's likely that we will get to see more cars. Specifically cars that come in blue and yellow...

  8. Just pondering a question this morning: how likely do we think further seasons are for DR2.0?

I see several mentions made about certain suggestions being more likely for "a future title", so I wonder how long additional content will keep coming to DR2.0 if there are other games on the horizon?

If it really comes sometime into this game (n not just to the next DiRT title in 2 years or so), then I'd ask for someone more knowledgable to enlighten me:

According to that site, the transmission is either H- or Paddle-Shift. Which years/models did what? I've seen it's an H-Shifter in the video. But I also am looking forward to driving it sequential as it would counteract the Evo VI nicely. But if that is unrealistic, I'd stick to H, as I like to drive as a real car was also driven in the day.
So, did the S3-S5 Impreza have some H and some paddle versions and if so, which ones?

Prodrive actually ran a semi-automatic gearbox on the Legacy, but the system was never used on stage as it was unreliable and barely faster than a manual shift. As it was classed as a automatic gearbox though, it permitted them to run a lighter flywheel, so was kept on the car.

All the Subaru gearboxes were H-pattern, they initially tried to automate them with pneumatics (on the Legacy) before realising that was a bad idea and switching to a hydraulically controlled system.

They trialed the hydraulic semi-automatic H-pattern gearboxes late in '98 and introduced them for the '99 season (on the S5).

Yup, he's stuck through it, hope he somehow makes it into World RX in the future too.

I have long hoped he would. He silenced a lot of critics when he came to the European Championship with OMSE, its a real shame that he didn't have a more consistent platform when he has been back over here.

To be fair, Subaru should really be dominant at this point: their budget easily eclipses that of the other competitors in ARX (and quite likely those in WRX as well).
