Scott Speed is out for the rest of the year, But looking to recover well. No replacement driver announced yet. I hope Pastrana or maybe Solberg.

Damn shame for Subaru, as he looked likely to give SRTUSA their first rallycross Championship this year.

I think Pastrana has scheduling conflicts and Oliver had previously stated that he was focusing on rally this year: that said I'd love to see Solberg in ARX!

    I remember the F1 2010 forums 🙂

I can't remember the exact timeframe for when the previous incarnation of the forums started. I recall them around the first DiRT, but can't remember how much they proceeded that by. I am sure I remember there being forum discussions about CMR2005, but that may have been around the time of the first DiRT rather than at the release of that game.

Was it late 2013/early 2014 when the last forum disappeared and was replaced?

    Edit*

Holy ****, I've been here for a long time. I forgot that back in 2016 I was the first to vote for getting @tbtstt a free PS4 copy of Dirt Rally, since he was drooling all over us PC guys during the EA. You're still welcome Steve. They sent out an extra free copy just for you.

To show how much I appreciated you (and everyone else) voting for me, I have given you another down vote.

(And, despite the free copy, I still went and bought a copy of DR1, as I am unable to resist a shiny steelbook!)

I'd say a good gauge now to see how long people have been around is to see how many remember Lee and how many remember the original forum.

With the e-cars rallycross is over. E-cars have no soul, the tracks will be moved inside city's and those tracks will be boring as Dubai. It will get a public, they can call it wrx but it won't be rallycross.

The World Championship might go electric, but the European and National Championships won't: ICE rallycross will still exist.

If it were a fantasy GRC layout there would have been a few crossover jumps and they'd somehow end up racing on the roof of the building, don't you worry.

The first time the GRC was at Dirtfish it did have a crossover, (though they missed the roof driving option).

I much preferred the above layout though.

@tbtstt is it this one? Trying to do a quick google search wasn't helping...

That's the one @Mike Dee! One of my favourite GRC layouts.

    Too predictable!

It's also a fairly dangerous pinch point that could lead to a bad situation if a few cars wreck and block the track in there.

Dangerous? The GRC never believed in that word! To be fair the tunnel is very gimmicky, but I thought the cars looked (and sounded) great going through it.

That's exactly what I was thinking!! A 2nd track using the warehouse as a joker would be awesome. Maybe have the main circuit loop around the warehouse counterclockwise, then have the Joker entry use the southern entrance but have to take a right inside the warehouse and exit the east garage doors to rejoin? Then hit the big jump and loop all the way back around.

Wait scratch that, maybe main circuit is through warehouse and out the north door, while joker is all the way around the warehouse before linking back up?? Still want to find a way to use that donut ring at the top of the map, or the airstrip (??) up the narrow little path on the southern side.

...or just copy the GRC layout! :classic_biggrin:

This is exactly what I kinda meant actually, I thought the Tidemand/Eklund car was just an old Andretti/VWoA car, not it's own thing.  Seeing the little differences between the two is really neat.

No, it is its own thing. The Eklund Beetle was one of the first Supercars to make use of the "custom" engine regulations when they brought them in a few years ago.

The Andretti Beetle uses a VW Motorsport engine, the same engine also went into the PSRXVW Polo (though obviously with a different configuration cooling package).

it's only been used in one event so far, unfortunately.

it has been very competitive in RB GRX (now defunct, of course) and ARX in North America, but is scarcely used in Europe.

    looks good, I think.

Pontus Tidemand has been driving the "Herbie" car (with a different livery) in the European Rallycross Championship this year...

...the "Herbie" Beetle is a Per Eklund car, the Beetles used in the US are Andretti/VW Motorsport cars.

  10. Forgive the double post - and this isn't World Rallycross content - but I uploaded a few pictures from round 5 of the British Championship, so I thought I'd post a few here:

and agreed- it's a big shame Gronholm missed those two weeks, otherwise he'd probably be on top now, or at least very close.

Yeah. Gronholm should - at least in my opinion - have been Champion this year. Such a shame that he had to miss two rounds. I was hoping that he would win in France and the other top three would have a poor weekend so he could get back in the mix, but with just 60 points available now, that seems very unlikely...

...still a great weekend for the Championship though. Although I haven't warmed to Timmy and Kevin, I can't deny that it was a smart drive from both of them in the final. Especially impressive from Kevin in the closing stages of the race, I thought he was holding the field back for Timmy, was stunned when came out from the joker in third!

Good speed from Topi, but standout performance of the weekend had to be Baciuska. I still would like to see Bakkerud win, but I think he will be outsmarted by the Hansen brothers. Every point counts at this stage and I think Andreas was daft not to just let Niclas go in the final. By trying to outbrake him, they both tumbled down the order and allowed Timmy and Kevin to close the gap.

Got my 5 minutes of fame on the World RX Instagram as well...
