Don't know why Toyota is being like this. Why wouldn't you want your car represented in a game? It's how I learned to love even ugly ducks like the Metro.

I believe there are other factors at play with Toyota and Codemasters (and these have been an issue for some time).

Nice to see I am not the only one who would like to see Dirtfish (or a similar) back. A wide open space would be very useful for playing with car setup!

Hillclimb has been cut because only a very tiny minority played it and resources would be better allocated in Rally and RallyCross, where the majority of the players are.

Hillclimb was destined to be a part of DiRT 4 (and surely would have featured in DR2.0) until Polyphony exclusively licensed Pikes Peak...

...at this point I would love to know why, as its been several years and there has been zero mention of it in any recent GT title!

Damn shame, as that was one of my frequently played environments in DR1: gravel Pikes Peak and the E2 quattro = gaming bliss!

Haven't you already been through this nonsense before when you first joined the forum @ale81udine?

For someone who thinks everyone else is childish you are quick to resort to name calling and insults.

  4. The Pugs are the 2018 specification cars from the first half of the season @JorritVD. Peugeot Sport have retained the "evolution" 208's (for now).

As you say, I hope that the EKS and Hansen cars have had minimal development so the rest of the field can catch up.

I had high hopes for GCK this year @JamesMcAdam, but I understand the cars will no longer be supported/developed by Prodrive. If that is the case I wonder how competitive they are going to be this year.

  5. Didn't get in from work until late last night so only got to briefly try the new cars.

I have been using one of the short stages in Spain to compare cars and I did my fastest time through the stage on my first go in the Fabia then went faster again on my first try in the C4!

Both cars seem absolutely planted, just like the real thing (especially the C4)

Don't forget that WRC cars in the 00's were allowed electronic differentials. The Skoda has fully active, whilst the Citroen C4 has an electronic centre diff.

Yeah. Made the cars phenomenally quick, but rather undramatic to watch.

I was very dubious when they confirmed that the 2017 WRCars would be running active centre diffs as I was afraid it would make them dull to watch: thankfully that wasn't the case!

Yeah, they are both available now, and pretty good too.

Awesome! I saw the icon had changed when I was playing last night and got all excited, but the new cars weren't showing at that point.

I look forward to taking them for a spin (probably literally) this evening.

Oh sorry I am from Czech Republic and in our country are R5s now the quickest (often very bumpy road) :classic_biggrin:

No apology necessary!  As you say, the suspension (and drivetrain) of the R5's is much better: it's perfect proof of how quickly rally cars continue to develop.

Have the new cars gone live yet?

But R5s benefits from suspension in real life :classic_cool: they can hold some incredible speed in corners, over bumps, in cuts and more.... they are almost fast (maybe even faster today) as 2010s WRC in my opinion :classic_cool:

Yeah, it's very close between them. If you watch events like the Irish Tarmac Championship than the late 2.0L (and early 1.6L) WRCars are very slightly quicker than the R5's, but there isn't much in it!

Because it's faster. More HP and more cc. The R5 is an overall slow class compared to even the old WRCs.

R5's are much quicker than Group A cars in real life, the R5's are pretty close to the later 2.0L WRCars.

There isn't a massive difference in BHP (280 in the R5 versus 300ish in the WRCars), but the 2.0L WRCars benefit from much more torque.

From the fout new RX locations (Barcelona, Mettet, Trois-Rivieres, and Silverstone) it is a difficult choice as well. I think Barcalona would have my preference, followed closely by Trois-Rivieres and Silverstone. Somehow i'm not really a fan yet of Mettet. Interestingly, the older locations I haven't really played yet again. Maybe due I raced them a lot in D4 and also DR1.

Mettet was the rallycross circuit I was most looking forward to but, as I have said elsewhere, it doesn't seem right to me and I'm not really enjoying it.

Trois-Rivieres is a bit more of a challenge than I was expecting and Barcelona is much trickier than I thought it would be. Silverstone is a pretty boring layout in real life, but it's quite good fun in game (although, like real life, a very slow circuit).

As for the rally side of things New Zealand is the location that has made the biggest impression on me. I was expecting to like Poland (and I really do), but the New Zealand stages flow really well.

I rather like New England as well. Not hugely technical, but good for getting to grips with new cars.

  12. Finished playing through the MW: Remastered campaign at the weekend. Although some elements of the gameplay seem rather basic now, I forgot just how good (and varied) the game was.

Definitely CoD at it's freshest and best!

    DiRTy Gossip intensifies

    Thats an 100% fan favourite

    I need that car... NOW

What about the not so loved 307cc? Now more serious, if they bring the Xsara too i would be already pretty happy

    206 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 307

No question as to which one I would prefer to see in the game!

  14. Great news about the implementation of the DLC. I'm not spending much time in the career, but I am glad to see the DLC will form part of it for those who do though. However this...

    Bit of gossip? From: http://blog.codemasters.com/community/03/celebrating-the-women-behind-our-games-for-iwd2019-meet-mandy/

"I’m currently trying to arrange for a car to be scanned that is going to be in one of our DiRT Rally 2.0 service updates – however this car is stuck to a wall in a museum somewhere, so it’s going to be a fun job for the Vehicle Art team!"

Anyone know of any wall-mounted rally cars?! The article also gives some insight into how "fun" licensing even logos is...

    ...is intriguing: to Google search!

PS: Fair play to Mandy: I imagine her line of work must be absolutely infuriating at times!

I did feel that Gymkhana 10 was a bit of a letdown, not really sure why though. I think its because they've pushed the boat out more stunt wise each time but this one was a little more reserved. Possibly due to the multiple locations but I did feel that watching the series first then Gym10 again was better. The Focus definitely seemed to lumber around in comparison to the smaller wheelbase of the other cars, one of the best looking though in my opinion.

I think it might have felt different it I'd have seen Gymkhana 10, then watched how they made it. Seeing the "making of" before the feature seemed the wrong way around!

The Fiesta was already a developed (and competitive) car whereas they had to start from scratch with the Focus. I personally think Block would have had more success in 2016 if he'd been in the Fiesta and the learning curve for the team would have been less steep. Ford seemed to lose interest in 2017 and development of the car stalled.

(I don't dispute that the Focus looked pretty cool though!)

I watched The Gymkhana Files over the weekend and it was heartbreaking watching Ken having to tell Bakkerud that the Hoonigan RX team was no more. You could tell how much he loved it by how upset he was.

Man that was one hell of a docuseries, would thoroughly recommend to anyone.

Yeah, I found the series far more entertaining than the end product. It was sad to see the rallycross programme grind to a halt in 2017, I still maintain it would have been a different story if they'd have used the Fiesta rather than the Focus.

Well, NRX in 2018 was between the Latvia and US round. So three weekens of racing in a row. Therefore not could take any risk with their regular cars. If the schedule is this time better, I am quite sure more entries will be there now as they can take risks with their regular cars and make also the neccesairy resources available.

How many of this years teams have the funding to send and run cars at a non-Championship event though?

  17. 5 minutes ago, JorritVD said:

I think it are 2018 spec S1. And my feeling is that EKS are running all three S1 if I follow the story of Szabo on IG.

Btw, there will be an NRX event this season? Wonder which WRX entries will all show up there.

If they are 2018 cars being run by EKS then Bakkerud is surely going to be the pace setter.

Not sure on NRX, none of the World teams took their primary cars there last year so, with no factory teams involved this year, I wonder how many (if any) teams will have a car to spare for NRX.

Yes, it is a bummer they move to these non traditional RX locations, but first I want to see the racing before I will judge.

Yeah, that's very true, it's just a shame that Abu Dhabi looks so similar to CotA (which I thought was dreadful!).

I would like to know which car Bakkerud will be using and who will be running the team. If everything is in place then Andreas is definitely my Championship favourite!

Also anyone know what this is about? The date is for Yas Marina

I was thinking new team when the news broke last night (I actually suggested a Doran/Bakkerud team on Facebook, funny to see that people are quoting that!), but I think this may just be a reference to the Abu Dhabi round being run at night.

Hopefully it's a sign we are getting another team though, Monster will surely want to put their logo somewhere with PSRXVW out of the picture, so another team would make sense.

I see Hansen have confirmed their (two car) entry into the 2019 Championship, very interesting to see that they have partnered with Max Pucher.
