I'd love to go watch Rallycross. I watched some amateur stuff years ago and it was exciting stuff.
Rallycross is great to watch at all levels, but the commitment of the guys in the World Championship is something else. It's amazing to see how much the lap times at the established circuits have fallen in the last few years. If you are able to get to a World event then I can't recommend it enough!

I noticed the new Rallycross circuit in construction at Silverstone when I went there in April, will be interesting to see how it turns out. I haven't been to Lydden so I can't really say, but I would assume the facilities there would not be on the same level as Silverstone. In a way it's kinda cool having a brand new high-spec rallycross track in the UK.
There is a launch event at Silverstone next week, so we should get to see more of the track then.

Silverstone is my least favourite circuit in the UK but, as this is a separate layout I hope that spectators will be able to get a lot closer. I am yet to go to a circuit with viewing as good as Lydden, but hopefully they can get people close enough to see everything.

  2. WARNING: THE FOLLOWING POST IS APPROXIMATELY 60% OFF TOPIC:

Another Monster video to knock two minutes off the waiting time for DiRT 4...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7x3fywwGXk

...but, as it features a Pro 2 truck, I have to say that I'm really looking forward to that side of DiRT 4 as well as the rally and rallycross.

Landrush hasn't been the subject of much (if any) of the pre-release hype on the forum, but I think it's a underrated off-road discipline and worthwhile addition to the game.

I was planning on going to Lydden this weekend but already got a family commitment that's been planned for a while. Next year...

Well you won't be going to Lydden for the World Rallycross next year: this is the last year it's going to be there.  :(

  4. Rather off topic (nothing unusual there), but I just uploaded some pictures from Round 4 of the World Rallycross Championship, so I thought I'd post some up as a momentary distraction for the long wait for DiRT 4:

    Few more here:

If anyone is interested. Just a couple of days until Round 5 at Lydden, I can't wait as there should be some more great racing, plus it's something else to take up the time between now and DiRT 4!

  5. Been fighting with Flickr for the last 24 hours, but finally got some pictures from Round 4 of the World Rallycross Championship uploaded. Few of my faves...

This was on the first page @MastaVonBlasta made the first post, and he linked this tweet:

It has so much more meaning today, then just a cheeky tease back then.  Heres to another 998 completely off topic posts and the 2 that are truly gossip :joy:

[edit: it was a valentines day thing, but the images still means the same]

Hear, hear. 2000 pages before DiRT 5?

So, it's less than a fortnight until I go to the Isle of Man TT for the first time! I'm gonna be in the paddock with Weardale Racing but will have plenty of time around the course, I can't wait to see the speed of the bikes for real!

The TT has been on my "to do" list for years now! Looks to be a brilliant week, enjoy!

    3:28 section looks cool

Yeah, very cool! I wasn't expecting to see so many structures so close to the road. That's an awesome surprise, can't wait to give those Spanish roads a blast (and most likely bounce off a few of those buildings!)

    Here's today "RSS news feed":

    MAXIMUM EXCITEMENT ACTIVATED

I wonder what spec the Group B rallycross cars are in? Are they in some sort of restricted form (as they were in their last days in national use), or unrestricted as they would have been in the early 90's? (I'm guessing the former as that will balance the class)

Irrespective I cannot wait to get that RS200 on track!

I have a feeling I (or someone else) may have asked this before, so apologies in advance if that is the case @KickUp, but can you confirm if the rallycross MINI Countryman is based on the 1.6L version (and if so is it at the "full" weight as per the 2016 regulations) or is it now a 2.0L?

    2.0l version

    Excellent, cheers!

It's the '03 or the '07 Impreza WRC for me personally, I'm not very keen on the bugeyes but I'll drive it I guess ;)

In terms of looks it's S5 (1998), S11 (2005) and S12b (2007) for me. I'd say the S5 is probably the most iconic looking rally car of the modern era, but I'm torn between the S11 and S12b for second place!

I like the S11 but I prefer the wing without the extra thingy things in it (don't know what they're called)

The slats in the rear wing came in on the S9 (2003) car. The whole wing was painted on the S9, the slats and leading edge of the top of the spoiler were unpainted on the S10 onwards.

I'm glad this version is in instead of the DR one, much prettier front end :)

Have I missed something? This is the Impreza S7 WRC from DiRT Rally, isn't it?

I had in my head a different design more similar to the 2002 standard Impreza, haven't played it for a while lol. I remember the front looking more like the '03 but with the bugeyes. Man I'm so tired lol

Never attempt to identify an Impreza when fatigued!

Exterior shots look exactly like the S7 WRC in DiRT Rally to me. As @Jepsertti has spotted though, the interior has been revised and looks correct now. I wonder if the audio for the S7 WRC has changed as well?

OFF TOPIC: The bugeye Impreza is widely acknowledged as the worst looking generation of Impreza and, although the WRCar was a huge improvement I still think it's the worst looking of all the WRC Impreza (I'm awaiting a dislike from @Rallycameraman for that line!)...

...having said that, the fact it was the car that Burns won the Championship in and given that the McRae-era Focus is in game, I think the S7 WRC is the perfect car to appear opposite the '01 Focus. Yet another car I can't wait to play with in DiRT 4!

    Kris Meeke fears nothing...

....apart from finding the exit to spectator car parks.

Heheh, we filmed his interview before that incident.

Looking at some of the backdrop, my guess is the rallycross interviews are from Loheac @KickUp?

I think it's a green screen but I could be wrong!

Yeah, I think Meeke might be! The rallycross interviews look like they might be from Loheac though, the livery on the Chicherit MINI would fit for France as well.
