lol yeah , so they can hope to beat McKennas WRC Fiesta lol

The WRC Fiesta that isn't actually a WRC Fiesta.

    (Is a cool car though)

    American Rally regs are weird.

R5? WRC? Whatever SUBARU are making? Sure, go ahead!

I think they have been left very open to try and encourage entries. If the surge in R5 entries is the start of something in ARA, then I wonder if they will refine the rules more (or rather align them closer with FiA regulations).

Has he sold the Hoonicorn (or the V2 as I think they re-used the V1 to make it)? That car's iconic now as the Ken Block car.

That is an interesting one. As you have posted he finished the recent "Hoonicorn Vs. the World" series by saying that it was the "last time he'd be driving the car", suggesting that it was no longer his. I wonder if Ford Performance money paid for the build, so it went back to them?

And yes, they reworked the V1 into the V2. Personally I preferred the V1 guise, but no doubt that the car is a weapon - and arguably the definitive KB car - in either form.

Side-note, the SUBARU that was built for Travis Pastrana is insane. It's basically the WRX Rallycross but with the rulebook thrown out the window.

The two Launch Control episodes about the making of that car/video were pretty good. Not sure if it was dumbed down for the purposes of the show, but some of the comments about the build didn't quite make sense though.

I believe there are plans to use the car for other things, which could be entertaining.

Other than the livery and a few cosmetics, is it still a Group B spec car?

    Looks it from the outside.

No, I wouldn't say it is even close. Despite what was said in some of his videos it isn't one of the original Evo cars. The origins of this chassis are a bit hazy, it seems likely that it is one of the Glomma Papp rallycross cars, but that isn't certain.

The car was built up to Evo specification and ran a couple of different gearboxes (and colour schemes) before going up for sale in 2014. Apparently the engine in it at that time was a Schanche built 2.3L, but I haven't seen that verified, nor am I certain that is the engine in it now (it is listed as 2.1L, but the seller may not be aware).

Block has subsequently changed suspension dampers on it; so at a minimum that is unoriginal engine, ECU, gearbox and suspension... plus the car was assembled as a "bitsa" anyway.

Nice profit for Block though. That car was listed for just under £100,000 in 2014...

I'm guessing he couldn't sell these before because he was tied to Ford.

He had the "HFHV" Fiesta up for sale a few years ago (don't think it sold though). Perhaps some of the money for these cars came from Ford, so he couldn't sell them at the time?

I have heard on the grapevine that the Hoonitruck has been sold as well. If that is the case then I think the only Ford he'll have left is the EsCos.

That's not possible. All of his vehicles are crumpled heaps, why would you want to buy any of them?

🙄 Block bashing, it's like being in a Facebook comment section.

He has barely driven the RS200, though that car has had some heavy use in its previous guises.

Prodrive have done some massive bad publicity for themselves here in France. The French have literally zero support for them since the "Loeb - Elena" split.

Yeah, that really hasn't been a good bit of publicity for them.

The controls and mechanics of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain are so solid they're the high benchmark of any open-world game I consider playing now.

Fun fact: I worked at Konami during the years of that game's release, even have a full-size replica arm on my desk as I type this.

MGSV goodies at TGS 2014: prosthetic arm replica, sneaking suit Snake figure and more | Metal gear solid, Metal gear, Metal

I also wrote my University Thesis on the metanarrative of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty 🙂

All of the above is most cool @PJTierney. The MGS series is one of, if not my most, beloved game series.

It clearly has rough edges (and a messy end), but I think MGS V is an incredible game. Each title in the series has a different appeal though, even MGS2 which I was disappointed with at the time but have warmed to over the years.

  7. Probably an unpopular opinion, but I would love to see US Short Course off-road racing in a Dirt Rally game.

Pro2 and Pro4 style trucks have appeared in less serious Dirt titles, but I would love to see them get a realistic representation in the same way that rallycross has in DiRT Rally 1 & 2.0...

...that said, I wouldn't want them to come at the expense of rally or rallycross content!

  8. Some of the McRae Challenges are making me rage @BoringDamo! I have a handful left to do on the hardest difficulty and, although I am sure they are possible on controller, I haven't had the time to grind away at the last few yet!

Really enjoyed some of the scenarios though, I think it was a very cool way to do a tribute.

    Yep, you got it @SRD_SimVansevenant!

Definitely agree with your point about the rim options. It is a minor, almost trivial, detail, but something that would really add to the authenticity.

Don't take my beloved S7 away. I love it almost as much as the S4.
I even have feelings for the S14, didn't used it much compared to others, but still a nice car.
    😄

Ha! Although it is fugly I can understand why the S7 has appeal for some, as it was a Championship winning car and driven by a number of favourite drivers. Still can't fathom why the S14 is in there though. It has had minimal success and is, as far as I can tell, the least loved Impreza WRCar.

Still think that late 2.0L WRCar slot should have been taken by the S12B.

Admittedly, the S9 and the S12b are the best looking Scoobies (besides the S4 S5, which is the king of scoobies ofc)

The S5 is the one I want to see back in future title(s) the most. Waited a lot of years to see it in a CM rally game, so I really hope it returns (with the right name 😉) in the next game and beyond. As discussed many times before a more appropriate class for it would also be welcomed.

I do agree that adding more cars to go alongside the existing roster would be the best outcome @richie, but I appreciate that licensing costs budget money amd not everyone loves the Subaru WRCar range as much as some of us do...

At some point Codies will have to implement the upcoming hybrid era in their WRC games. Are they going to start with the 'normal' cars first?

By the time they put out their first official game the hybrid era should already be in full swing. Hopefully the last "normal" cars will also make it in...

(Wishful thinking, but I have everything crossed that we see 1.6L WRCars in DR3)

  11. I can't remember the details, but I think others had issues with this.

If I recall correctly the external cameras count as an assist, so make sure they are turned off as well. I don't think the trophy description states it, but you have to win the whole event as well as the final, so you need to place well in the qualifiers and semi final to win the whole thing.

The Hyundai looks mint indeed, but I like the Fiesta more. This is the 2020 car and I think the 2021 one doesn't look too different. Look at this thing, absolute weapon.

Fiesta is my fave as well. Real shame that it seems unlikely we will see the car on the podium this year.

  13. I think the current Yaris and Fiesta WRCars both look a bit mad. The i20 seems a little understated in comparison.

In terms of road cars I can't remember the last time a production car excited me as much as the Yaris GR.

Does anyone else think that CM may bring 6 completely new locations for the new game? I think it would make sense if they are contractually obliged to include all WRC locations from 2023 onwards. This will reduce the chance of them having to create too many new locations with little notice in a WRC game as they only have 12 so far. It would be nice to see Chile, Portugal etc in a CM game.

I think it would be tricky to sell "DR3" if it doesn't have at least some new locations in it.

This is rather well timed, as I was actually discussing this with some mates (online obviously!) yesterday. Knowing that the DiRT team have been working on "other game(s)" for some time now - and that the WRC license doesn't kick in until 2023 - there is surely going to be another title in the interim?

Those Höljes bits of code are chonky.

Intrigued to know what has changed here. Was racing online a few weeks ago and got punted into the infield (on the way down the hill), got immediately reset and got a massive penalty: most annoying!

9.5? The latest PC one was 17, just happened to pop up when I wanted to do something else.

They could have at least put a surprise new car/Spa in with a patch that big... :classic_biggrin:

  18. I find the 037 WAY easier to drive in DR2.0. I found it massively unpredictable (and hated using it) in DR1, but I really enjoy driving it in DR2.0...

...but then I think that about pretty much all the RWD cars in DR 2.0. Huge improvement in my personal opinion.
