real life 2020 FIA World Rally Championship
Scyy replied to Fedemaisonnave's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
I don't quite agree about Latvala. There have been a fair number of times he's been in contention for a very strong finish and his car has just broken down since he went to Toyota. A fair number of times he's crashed out too but he would be looking much better points wise if those break downs hadn't happened. Yesterday's episode of the Absolute Rally podcast touched on this, how Latvala seems to suffer more breakdowns than Tanak, and how often his Polo broke down while Ogier's carried on. So at what point is it bad luck, and when is it driving style? The episode's discussion of Meeke post-Portugal was almost painful to listen to. Can't wait for next week's now. True enough, can't discount that his driving style might be rougher on the car. -

I'm still expecting number 6 from Ogier this year. He would still be pretty much even in points if he didn't get completely screwed in Sweden with the way they ran the event. I expect he's going to narrow the gap round by round with the way he's been on gravel this year. It's definitely been up another notch compared to last year. Really glad Evans and Suninen got good results this event. Ever since Finland and Poland last year I've expected Suninen to go places as he's gotten more experience. Hopefully he'll stay on it for the rest of the European gravel events coming up. -

I'm not saying Ogier completely dominated Mexico but compared to last year where he could barely win a stage time on gravel there is a marked improvement in speed. -

Seems to me either Ogier has gotten fully to grips with the Fiesta or they have really upped it's speed on gravel. I have a feeling we might see a bit more of a dominant Ogier again this year. -

I'm really enjoying all live despite the technical difficulties. I'm expecting as they get more experience doing this they will be able to improve. Totally worth the extra over regular wrc+ imo. -

That would be awesome. -
So I finally went back and played dirt rally in vr after having not played it since dirt 4 came out. Everything feels right again, I really hope codies reconsiders their position on vr on future titles as they had something special with it.

Probably helps that he wasn't driving an i20 for that. Anyways this is a golden opportunity falling right into Ford's lap. They would have to be fools not to open the purse strings just a little to keep Ogier in a ford next year. Ogier, Elfyn, and Suninen would be another team to beat next season. -

Honestly I always got the vibe that Ogier is a good guy. Sure he's cocky but when you're the best you get a little bit of leeway with that. I mean just look at what he did for Tanak in Poland last year when he just missed his maiden win. A crummy person wouldn't have done that. -

Awesome news. Hoping Ogier stays with msport now. Should be some intense fighting between the teams next year. -

From my understanding msport and ford are having a meeting soon which could be a sign of things to come. -

They should do a second snow rally in Canada or northern usa. Do it after Sweden and go to Mexico after. -
Hmmm, I'm not sure. I have the universal hub so it might view the buttons differently.
-
@griev0r So after some more playing I think I jumped to a conclusion. While it says it's a button it does seem to act as an axis now that I've tested strictly for it. I think i was to tired last night to really control the throttle properly so it felt wide open most of the time. That being said it still never shows up in the axis detection menu and the brakes feel off and since I can't look at the axis I can't verify. Another issue that is rather annoying is when the game sets the steering lock it never changes back after I exit the game. I have to use the settings menu on the cswv2.5 to switch steering lock from aut to another value and back again. So you can imagine how off it felt when I played dirt 4 again with the steering lock already set there so it was taking that rotation off of the already lowered rotation setting. Felt like I was driving in an f1 car hitting lock with half a rotation. It's not a game breaker but first time I've ever had this happen on this wheel and frankly shouldn't happen. I'm sure this is probably only affecting certain rig combinations though. All that being said the stages are great and the physics really surprised me in a good way. I still feel that dirt is better in the physics department but this is definitely better than wrc6.

Thank you @LudwigVonMises I'll try this out once I'm back on my computer. I will say the game seemed like it could be decent but only getting 0% and 100% throttle and brake inputs was really pissing me off when I was trying it. My excuse for not seeing your post is it was late and i just wanted to post my findings since others were curious about multi inputs. Once I try out what they were saying on isr I'll post back if it all works out.
-
There are definitely issues with multi input. It lets me map the throttle and brake to my csv3 pedals but only sees them as a button and not an axis. I'm to tired to care or figure it tonight so gonna try again tomorrow.

I'm wondering how they are going to afford Ogier considering it seems like their funding has really dropped off in the last few seasons. -
Looks like I'm definitely gonna give wrc7 a look. I'm still probably gonna play more dirt 4 though, especially once leagues are implemented.

Pretty much, he's to much like Colin for better or worse. -

Problem is it might not be by his own choosing. There are only so many spots on manufacturer teams and it seems as of now at least there are more drivers than seats. -
Why we would need a Garage for 120 cars, if there's only 55 ingame? It's pretty obvious, at least for me, they plan/planned dlcs for D4. When it will happen, i don't know, but i'd focus first on trying to fix "the issues" the game has, and make it a more enjoyable experience, for all. If they release dlcs before that, community will not be very happy, i'm sure of that. Just see what people were saying, on Forums, after this last patch... Now imagine if is dlcs. You mean the patch that deals with something that the people who deal with the actual gameplay likely had no hand in. That patch? Here's a hint, the people who actually deal with the underlying code of the software itself almost certainly have no hand in the physics model. The fact that people are acting like that being released means they aren't looking at handling shows me how little many of you actually know about software development.

The rng gods hate us I think. That's a livery I've yet to see in classifieds as well.

Usually it's the showers weather setting that will have rain come and go.

@Sho846 while you weren't asking me I would say the book human action is probably his best work.
