  1. Despite it being in my signature, I still quite frequently get asked if PRL is only for aliens, or if it's for everyone.  It's for everyone of course!  No matter your input device, your pace, or your skill level, you can race at PRL.  Our single division championships allow assists to make them even more welcoming.  Lots of drivers don't use them, but you're welcome to if you need to! Also check out the site as lots of fun social races are taking place to keep everyone behind the wheel until F1 2015 is released!

    F1 2014 HRL Season 1 Videos

Wrong forum.  The leagues section is here:  http://forums.codemasters.com/categories/f1-games-leagues
  3. The only Rating system I've seen work is iRacing's because it's automatic.
  4. Best thing you can do is join a league to get away from them.
  5. The first post of this thread has now been updated to list all ten of our F1 2015 Championships, including the all new South American championship with races taking place on Wednesdays at 9pm Brazil Time!  Sign-Up links are included for all!

Can you join an already in progress online practice session, or do you have to be there when it's created to join?

    Announcing F1 2015

Thanks man, as a company and with our racing games in particular we're getting back to what the most important thing is... That feeling of the car on the surface, if that doesn't feel right then the rest of the game doesn't matter. For what its worth (and I know this won't mean much to some of the F1 forum guys) but Codemasters Physics Programmer, god and all round nice guy @PonchoBillybob worked on the tyre model for the F1 team. I'll let @GentleNameMVB explain to you all just how much that says about how realistic and how seriously we're taking the handling. EDIT: As for Singapore, yeah you're right it is stunning in that screen - that's nothing compared to seeing it in motion though. I hope this is true about the handling, particularly the "feeling of the car on the surface".  That's something we never had with any previous CM release, but from what I've seen in sims, it's very hard to achieve without laser scanned tracks, so we'll see.....

Seems that way, sucks :( @justbiglee Any chance you could answer this please? :kissing_closed_eyes:  At the moment no, as it currently stands on PC the engineer will give you updates as you race but you can't request them using any kind of voice control. As I'm sure you guys are aware its been a hot topic this afternoon and by far the most asked question.  As I'm sure you are all aware I'm no developer so I won't try and fob you off with an answer. I will do my best to get a technical answer on it from the studio for you tomorrow and I will obviously be passing your feedback on. All I can really say this evening is if you are a PC player and feel really strongly that this is a feature you want, be sure to speak up and I'll make sure you are heard. It's hard to say if we want it and if it will be valuable until we try it, but from experience, the PC (at least vs 360/PS3) is far more capable at providing a high quality voice comms platform than console, so this format feature availability feels a bit backward.  I think we'd ultimately need more information before forming strong opinions.

No nothing like that, it's part of the whole broadcast style presentation we're going with so think of it as more like mimicking the kind of stuff you see on TV before a race in the same way the podium stuff comes after the race. Hope to show it to you as soon as we can so it makes a little more sense. Thanks for the response.  I still hope there can be false starts!  It's a key part of any sim!

Fair enough.  I'll support equal too, but we know they have a hard time with "equal", so if I'm forced to pick disadvantaging one input device, it has to be a gamepad.  It's really no different than comparing a keyboard driver to a gamepad driver.  Are we saying a keyboard driver should be given extra hidden assists to be just as fast as a gamepad driver?  No.  Clearly there are some inferior input devices, and you can't expect to be as fast if you use an inferior one.  A keyboard is inferior to a gamepad.  A gamepad is inferior to a wheel.  I'm not against Codemasters making it easier for drivers using inferior input devices to be helped in some way, but it can't make them faster than an equivalently skilled driver using a superior input device.  A huge factor in people buying better input devices is to make them better at a game/sim.  That wasn't the case with the past couple of F1 games.  We had experienced wheel drivers using gamepads to be faster on track!  It's just pure craziness. P.S.  If your girlfriend would leave you for using a wheel, you might have bigger issues than equal pace on wheel and gamepad in F1 2015 (sorry, jk :))

Why would they have their helmets on? How would they drink the champagne?  They have straws! For their water bottles ^_^ At least then, Lewis wouldn't be worrying about his helmet hair :)

@justbiglee - could you please elaborate on what is meant by "grid sequences".  Are we talking about pre-launch tasks in the car, formation laps, manually getting your car to the correct position on the grid, a more manual starting process including potential false starts, etc?  What exactly.  Thanks

The graphics definitely aren't close to that of Project CARS, which have fooled more than a few people into thinking they're looking at a real life video, but the F1 2015 graphics look improved and more than adequate.  Previous incarnations of this game had a lot of issues, and if graphics were one of them, it was certainly near the bottom of the priority list.  Graphics don't make a sim.  Race 07 is a testament to that - we still have a league for it, and it's incredible to race cars in it.

20 Questions.   I understand you might not be able to answer them all, but answers to any would be greatly appreciated :) 1. Will there be dedicated servers, or if not, will there be improvements to the netcode so that sync issues and disconnects are mitigated?2. On PC, have you fixed the issue of being disconnected if Steam goes down?3. Have you removed the hidden steering assist and Traction Control from gamepads, and made using a gamepad a disadvantage rather than an advantage (or at least equal)?4. Will setup values be changed to real world values instead of the 1-11 scale?5. Will online grid sizes be increased to 20 to match the real world?6. Will there be any League specific features, such as allowing the host to define grid positions, and have the host be the only one who can select "Go To Track"?7. Will pit stops be manual, meaning we control the pit speed limiter, the driving, and are responsible for stopping in the correct spot in our box?8. Is there now a force cockpit view for League races?9. Has the sidepod glitch been fixed?10. Is it possible on PC to communicate with our Race Engineer, or is that only on console?11. Has corner cutting been fixed, and has the auto-slow when off track been removed/replaced with a better means to manage running off track?12. Are there pit boards?13. Is there a feature to export results on PC?14. Can replays of online races be saved?15. Is Pro mode equivalent to Sim mode, where we now have something that feels like iRacing, Assetto Corsa, rFactor, etc?16. Doubtful, but I'll ask anyway, as other games are starting to do this:  Will there be multi-format online racing, meaning Xbox ONE and PC drivers can race together?17. Has the "V-Sync" bug been fixed on PC, whereby a high framerate would cause erratic wheel behavior with certain wheels (G27 for instance), and turning V-Sync on was one way to solve it by limiting the framerate.18. If we damage our front wing, is there now the option to NOT have it replaced during a pit stop?19. Will there be native support for VR headsets?20. Can we select our own car numbers for online races? Thanks
  16. We'll have Sign-Up's for our F1 2015 leagues underway in the next couple of days.  Check back soon!

As usual, it all sounds good.  Looking forward to seeing if you deliver for once.  I'm optimistic, with the new engine.  Hopefully Pro mode will give us a true sim, and hopefully there are some massive netcode improvements too.

    Communication

Thanks for not locking it anyway.  Wasn't intending for this to get out of hand - just wanted to express how a lot of the community is feeling, with the goal of ultimately seeing some improvement in this area.

Codemasters' biggest mistake in the F1 game series

I think Codemasters biggest mistake is not having dedicated servers for online play.  The P2P architecture, or at least their implementation of it, is atrocious. Second would be the lack of Quality Assurance in their product, and third would be not catering to the sim crowd.

    A Goodbye

NBA is a lot more popular and also way more appealing to casual video game/sports fans than formula 1 (same could be said about football with FIFA and PES)  so I honestly don't think it would be financial viable to have two formula 1 games being developed and released at the same time. In that event, Codemasters need to start catering to both the arcade and the sim crowd.

    A Goodbye

I've said elsewhere I don't want them to lose the license.  I want them to continue to make arcade games.  There just needs to be a 2nd developer with the license, so that they can make an F1 sim, then everyone will be happy.  No reason two developers can't have the license.  Look at NBA Live, and NBA 2K.

Best of luck to you, Luke.  Where are you off to?  Wouldn't it be cool to give us some F1 2015 news on the way out? :)
