  1. Gotta say that was a well written review. If I had any patience left for CM I'd do the same. If you are going to try to reboot or restart a franchise, then at least put the effort in to do so. Looking at other older games from other stables, many were able to give a physically correct and yet more forgiving control scheme than GRID AS. It's one of the biggest issues for me to enjoy the game as the cars handle totally fubar. I have the same issue with any racing game that has fubar handling as car handling is THE most important thing for me IRL. If you have a car that doesn't respond to inputs
  2. Any news on time frame (not set date). It's been over a year since the announcement to drop GFWL...
  3. This has been asked and ignored since release. Pretty damn annoying really as TT's shouldn't have bots, the races shouldn't have retarded bots running at speeds that make Granny's look fast. I know this game has some casual players but some of the racenet events are just annoying because of these issues. It doesn't really make me want to play the game that's for sure...
  4. I've yet to see something mindblowing other than the failures since they dropped CMR and ToCA...
  5. Sorry Rob I can't believe that. The AI is terrible, when it chooses to ram you off the track to prevent an overtake or chooses to use you as the brakes for the corner after it's braked 10-20m too early every other lap but the lap you passed it suddenly it didn't want to brake at all. With Shift 2 Unleashed the stock AI had a tendency to do the same. It really wanted the racing lines and was prepared to get dirty to defend it. Then a few modders played with it, with Career mod I can race 2 inches away and not get hit by the AI. They were tweaked to be able to brake at the correct points, accele

  7. Good luck on your flights Loore ;) Let's hope there's a few less corrupt saves when you get back.
  8. Just watched it a couple of times. Mickey was braking as he entered the corner (you can see the flash of brakes just before contact occurs). He's trying to fit an Audi through a line sized hole though so that's his mistake. However he didn't cause too much fuss and wouldn't have passed down the next straight anyway. RTAnoskills losing two places to crunch him into a barrier was overreaction to that incident however you claim prior knowledge of his driving. TBH other than the failed attempt at an overtake which wasn't possible it wasn't a bad vid until you intentionally rammed him into a wall.
  9. I'd like to say Street, Tuner, Touring and Endurance, but I'm only allowed one. Only the Open Wheelers leave me feeling bored. Odd because I love Formula 1 :D
  10. LOL you must be playing in England. The Aussie players are in a ghost town XD
  11. Seems like Mont Tremblant for Open Wheel would be a mistake as that would be the 3rd time in 4 weeks that track has been used. If I have to do Mont Tremblant in that bloody Caterham again.... Good to see Sepang for Endurance.
  12. Funny thing about that is out of all cars in the game it boasts the highest downforce levels of any of the cars (including the other open wheelers...). It really should handle on rails not ice... But yeah the Cat 300.R feels horrid. Really have to tweak the tuning on it to get it to feel more drivable. TBH there needs to be a little more grip for all rear wheel cars.
  13. I see your point it's pretty valid, but having been an avid BTCC and DTM fan since childhood as well as JGTC, STCC, WTCC and the various European GT Championships, I'll still back my statement of there being multiple lines through corners, usually the slower ones. I did and yes I thought it was unfair but then again Monaco is a unique and rather odd track. Closest to it is Valencia and no-one likes that track either. Must remember than the pass also occurred under the heavy handed penalty system that's literally been scrapped in the last two races to allow drivers to race instead of compla
  14. It should be easy enough to add a checkbox to the Options screen to enable/disable the AI's elastic band ability. Though they should probably bump Ravenwest's skillz a bit to compensate for the need to make them the biggest and most obvious rubber band out there...
  15. On the subject of Racing Lines, RTAnoskills you really are wrong. There is an "optimum racing line" that is basically the composite of most Professional's lines. The fastest line isn't always the agreed racing line either. To me the "racing line" is just a guideline on where you should be for most corners. F1 highlights this nicely with Raikkonen for instance has a very very different style to Alonso and therefore takes different lines through the corners. At Hungary you could see Vettel's line through the final corner in the Red Bull was nothing close to Hamilton's in the Mercedes as well. So
  16. You can purchase it on Xbox 360 due to there being no Season Pass. On PS3 and PC the only way its acquired is by owning the Season Pass and it isn't available to purchase separately.  Still doesn't change the arbitrary lock down of garage slots then selling DLC which "solves" the problem of the arbitrary limit. It's akin to inventing a disease to go with your vaccine that you made and releasing the disease so you can make money off the vaccine...
  17. What control method are you using? I found controlling the oversteer with a pad pretty easy, however you do need good trigger skills. Then again I raced a lot of Shift 2 where throttle control was king for a good time.
  18. One reason I didn't play a lot of Dirt 3 is the lack of control with a keyboard or controller. I use an Xbox 360 Pad. It's ok for the job but not the best. Wheel's trump them, but I get frustrated with wheels as having raced a fair bit IRL it gives me sod all feedback compared to say my old RX-7 Turbo... Ah well it's a fun game so I race for fun with a controller. I'm not racing too competitively.
  19. @Loore - thanks for the direct reply. I'm glad you have forwarded that info on the DLC to the team as it should be going to Marketing and the Exec's too. CM needs to realise that while selling a product intentionally gimping it then "selling" the solution damages their image terribly in the eyes of the customers and it results in a very "Snake Oil Salesman" look. I do agree you have improved with your transparency compared to previous titles (8 Ball DLC for GRID comes to mind!!!), however collating it into areas that are clearly visible like Forum Stickies or having links to a News Blog for GR
  20. Kazzy you get that same problem on Console, please stop misrepresenting it as PC only. Looking at the Racenet leaderboards for the current challenges there's one obvious cheater. The rest are all in legitimate timeframes. Whether some are cheating or not is almost irrelevant there. Hell in GAS I can't match the times of what I did in Shift 2 because I feel the car better in Shift 2. I lack that feel in GAS so I'll be slower. I also use a pad which means I'm 1-2s down on the good wheel users anyway due to lack of precise steering input. Though I will do a run in a Viper on Bathurst right now to
  21. Wouldn't escaping the code work by putting // in front of Line 2 using Notepad++
  22. @Loore - It's more a case of status updates. Saying hey we've reached 'X' point in the process and here's where we expect to be in the near future. This bug's been squashed, this one has taken 'X' more time to discover the cause of etcetera. Basically keep the people in the loop as to what's going on and why. The days of hiding behind the walls of PR are gone and the community expects that transparency now. I say expect, because it's only really fair to keep the people who paid good money for a product up to date on all the information you have that's easy to disseminate. Also can you comment
  23. There's more than one racing line, just watch F1 and see the different styles and line choices by the drivers. There's usually a similar line for all, but in some cases going deep into a corner and then straightening the exit is faster than the earlier turn in for instance. Oh and the lines for an F1 car are very different for those of a UTE. Most of the time the UTE has trouble deciding whether to go forwards or sideways :D In GRID AS the lines are a lot closer to being the same than say Shift 2 Unleashed which is more simulation, but the basics of racing are still the same, lines are dependa
  24. Nordschliefe would be awesome, would be a nice counter-point to Bathurst. I was also thinking Suzuka or Fuji (though Fuji less so) as there are the JGTC 500 cars in there. Currently there are no tracks they run on. Monaco would also be a good one for the Open Wheelers even if it's going to be really tough to race on.
