  1. OO  YES - pitstops would add much more fun to online races Ok if its there it would be useful i suppose in the longer race scenario. I guess if it adds more immersion then good for the game .
  2. Next we will have to have burger stops in the street races lol :))
  3. No for now. Ok tell me about these 'pitstops'. Maybe you can change my mind. When will I need a pitstop?  Would I have to do a mandatory pitstop? Surely most Grid races will be shortish- maybe 5-10 minutes, if I pit during that time Ill lose the race because everyone else will be half a lap in front. Why should I pitstop? Will a pitstop make me a better driver? Explain please :)

    Career / Single player.....any point?

It might help you learn the tracks, suss the penalty zones and learn the cars, I know it will me. ;)  I absolutely loved G1 career and completed it before I even knew there was an online option and iirc you had to win the Lambo to use online by playing career.

    Flashbacks in online races Yes/No?

I believe flashbacks will be default in the playlists and thats that, I hope there will be a hardcore playlist- no flashbacks full damage like G2, however custom games will be set according to the hosts preferences - no upgrades, no flashback, damage on - off, we'll see. We didn't have playlists in Grid 1, all games were custom so lets hope a kind of regularity of setting happens so most custom events will be equal, come to think of it hopefully when setting a custom game the defaults from Codies will be say - no flashback, assists on, no upgrades etc.  to create a regular game experience over time, just choose event and distance and start. I have never created a game online, so dont know which settings would be good as Im quite happy to join any race and get on with it. Maybe some suggestions for default race settings (out of the box) would help.

    Lets talk corner cutting

I think the best (perfect maybe) system was Grid 1, if you went on the grass you were slowed slightly and risked spinning, curbing the red and white could de-stabilise you and throw you off course,  barriers and tyre walls ensured every one kept on the track and looked really good when cars hit them and the tyres flew up in the air and the cars barrel rolled along the track and we all LOL'ed through the text chat.  8-> Ok maybe it could have been slightly improved, but not by much, just a few of the bigger advantageous cuts could have been sorted with a patch. I blame Yas, its like a big car park with markings laid down to race on, I wouldn't mind barriers grass or gravel instead of the markings at Yas, I know it wouldnt be authentic but better to me than dumb slowdown penalties.

    The Q&A Thread

Q: Does using a flashback undo damage received just before using said flashback ?
  9. One more thing, if a rammer slams you and you and he both take damage, will his damage remain with him after he flashbacks? , ie. Will flashback undo damage ?. It must not undo damage because he will then chase you down again with his undamaged faster car.
  10. I was more wondering if the types are rigidly fixed to track or street racing, Grid 1 was pretty well mixed with most disciplines useing circuits and street tracks which I really liked.
  11. I like them all but put touring for now, when we get to race will find out, any way what is Tuner, Street and Endurance going to be within GAS ?

    Grid Autosport

About this console thing, I think the blame lies with the console mfctrs not adding backwards compatibility to them. I dont use them but still have my ps1 in a cupboard somewhere and I think its bad they shafted their users by making them buy all new games.Anyway seems we were listened to and I can now not wait for this  :D

What you want to see from GRID

Smoke effects, please let them be customisable, I hated Grid 2s smoke so much I turned it off with a file edit, I turned it back on the other week to see if I could get used to it but after a couple of days it had to go off-false again, I just cant drive with all that smoke. Grid 1 was good in that department. Grid 2 DLC would have worked for me if it was included in some playlists but as it wasnt I didnt buy any,  also in the back of my mind I didnt want to have to drift around Spa.

    Fanatec Wheel on Grid 2

PC, I used my 2nd CSR, with Grid 2 until it broke like the 1st one after exactly 1 year. It was ok till it broke then I went back to a G27. The best thing I liked about the CSR was the 360 degrees view with the mini joystick especially on Dirt3 with the party modes :).Fanatec replaced the first one after 1 year and I junked the 2nd one.

So am I right in thinking you want lots of set-up options?  ? NO no no setup options. Equal racing online.

Text chat is something we'd love to get in to any of our future games, we know it something that has been requested in the past. As always though it's a fight between resource and what other features are waiting to get in the game. Side issue but there is always a design point of view as well, especially from a UI perspective were as the online menus are created with multiple platforms in mind, if we ever did text chat it'd most likely only be on PC so we'd have to take that into consideration.  As far as I'm aware there is no censorship, PEGI, DRM etc reason, if we can do it, we will. Obviously PC as we have the keyboards, though I wouldnt say its been requested, it should never have been overlooked and discarded - swopped for a rabbit running across the track :) Id say it is an essential part of online PC gaming. So thats a yes it will be in Codemasters PC titles in the future? Good news.Plain and simple like Grid 1 will do. It's not a guarantee, it's a 'it'll be on our list of features to support'. I play PC as my primary platform so I'm with you on it, I want PC text chat as much as you guys do. If we can do it, we will. It's not something we actively set out to say "we're never doing this". When we come into a project we always have a list of features that we want, and as with any software development it's all about picking the ones you know are going to be completed in the time frame you've got. Ill forego OTT smoke effects, moving trains, running rabbits, and airplanes with contrails for text chat as I'm sure many others will, it is an essential feature for a popular title, a must be included or else - do or die kind of thing, a feature we want.

What you want to see from GRID

De ja vous, but Ill ask again, will simple keypress text chat be included in future codemasters games or not, and if not why not?. If its something to do with censorship, PEGI , DRM, swear content or whatever, please let us know so we can suggest ways of implementation rather than exclusion.

    Logitech g wheels?

I am on PC but do notice the crappy feedback, or is that the lack of ?.Grid 1 felt really good with a wheel, rumble strips, grass, spin and lift off were quite noticable by the feel of the G27 but Grid 2 doesnt seem to have any of that feel.Hope its better next time, unless of course only 5% of us use wheels :).
