Then you are either running as a Standard / Restricted User (or less likely) as a AD account. So you will need to ensure you change your account to an Administrator User account type. Again, laziness on the part of the development. But Steam doesn't run well on a Standard User account - and when it runs as Administrator it's prone to security issues. You could not make it up!

Minimum and recommended spec is Windows 10. You will be in a world of pain on Windows 7 because the OS is unsupported and so by definition is YOU running the game on W7, no obligation to solve because in fact if the issue is an underlying OS issue, there will be no fix. There were issues in W7 game connectivity because of a deprecated protocol. I strongly advise that for security and compatibility you update to W10. YOU CAN DO THIS FOR FREE WITH THE MCT (use a 1909 version as there are stop / hold issues with 2004) W8/8.1 is a dead end with driver development as it does not support DX12, so the OS is supported but the API isn't. So although drivers are released for DX11 they aren't always designed for W8/8.1. AMD and Nvidia in this respect still release W7/W10 drivers in 64-bit only.

NO. Read my post. Change the security settings!

Do you know I flagged another issue with the game that another user had with F1 that did not work as well as in DR2 (IIRC). Seems they have competing dev teams in CM, the response was "F1 can look after that issue themselves" (paraphrased). Bodes well for the SMS acquisition, doesn't it?

Try removing Protected Folder Access in Windows Security settings. The hardware_settings_config.xml is written to Documents\My Games\F1 2019 and Documents is a protected folder with the setting enabled. I've honestly no idea why files are written all over the filesystem. Laziness?

Huge understeer problem with Thrustmaster TX
steviejay69 replied to MassiveNoogies's topic in Technical Assistance
Then the wheel rotation is set at 900. QED. What you didn't do is tell me which platform you are on to finish helping. It is an XB1 wheelbase or it is on PC. My psychic abilities cease at that point and let me down badly 🙂 -
Strange issue with escape key and gear shifters.
steviejay69 replied to Lakrits's topic in Technical Assistance
I've had this too. Sometimes the game doesn't recognise one of the input devices. I think it's when they are customised. The way the schemas work is awkward. Configure your wheel and press a key on the keyboard. Or configure your keyboard and press a wheel button (should work, never actually tried it). Save the schema - Now you have a custom profile with the two devices bound; this is by design. Neither of the default schemas are selected (√) Doesn't happen with USB pedals - if I press the Fanatec controls when customising the wheel schema it won't save the input as anything different. And don't get me started on customising the Fanatec controls (possibly a "why would you need to?" situation) but you get the 'Can't rebind controls that have a default schema' or whatever it is. I have used the passive adapter for Logitech pedals to a Thrustmaster base and obviously the game can't tell the difference because the inputs are coming via the wheelbase. Not sure how much of this is driver related as the Thrustmaster pedals read as combined axis with all pedals at 50% with nothing connected until the Fanatec driver is installed. Then they come back correctly as separate with 0% input until pressed. I *believe* that the 50% combined is an error detection method used on the Thrustmaster base because when I had a connection come loose the Logitech pedals read this way until the wire was resoldered. WIth the T3PA pedals and the Logitechs the driver *always* detected as separate with 0%. But I've never had a 2 pedal set to connect to prove otherwise. -
No, why not post a spec and someone can tell you if you meet the requirement if you don't know. This has been happening for a while, someone buys the game because they got F1 201x working in a fashion then they complain when F1 2020 won't run. If you meet the minimum spec the game will run. If you meet the recommended spec the game will probably run at 60FPS

Have you updated the wheel driver and the firmware? -
PS4 F1 2019 Throttle automatically limited in high speed corners
steviejay69 replied to Paalo's topic in Technical Assistance
Turn off the assist. It's not strange it's by design. If you can go around all the corners at 100% throttle there are 10 GP teams that want to hear from you! 🙂 -

Please update your Graphics driver -
I usually map Steam PTT to T so I don't press it. Looks like I'll have to map to Y instead 🙂 Are all these shortcuts going to be in a / the manual? Because to be honest, it's been a bit thin in recent years.

I have not knowingly seen an equivalent English message. If I had to guess I would say it "cannot load a preset for (one of) the device(s)". I would recommend the uninstallation of the vJoy software. This is highly likely to be the source of the message. The HWiNFO screen does not show the Embedded Controller Firmware. Try running the sensor shortcut (the thermometer shortcut in the HWiNFO menu). The pop-up screen may give info or warn you about probing the EC, but try it.

But you see how you've switched from faithfulness and authenticity to simulation. I agree, the faithfulness of the track layout is a doozy. Should be in there, no excuses. It's fact. Black and white. But AI behaviour is tough to code. Because we want it to be human, especially in racing. Vettel's AI handicap is probably in the 0.95 region, until he's rattled, then he becomes Spinbastian. I don't know how you code that, because he can go wheel to wheel and be daring. He can also go wheel to wheel and there is contact which usually ends badly with him denying any kind of causal responsibility (i.e. he becomes Schumacher). How do you code Romain Grosjean? Ultra fast (well, compared to KMag generally) but has a tendency to spiral into a blame culture? Then you have Magnussen himself, quiet and getting on with it, usually not a million miles off and then gets an attack of the vapours and starts using the car as a weapon (or at least very aggressive with the positioning). 0 to DEFCON 2 in a moment. I could go on....suffice to say comparing them to a made up cowboy who may or may not have to drop a line of information in the right circumstances a little of a stretch.

I agree with the kerb detail. Hopefully, someone at Codemasters will use these for reference. There is, I am sure, time to get some of these in through the patch cycle. However, we will have to show some understanding if the 2020 events either take place late or not at all and 2019 references will have to do.

How can you compare "realism" to two fantasy games? 🤣

Decide for yourself 🙂 Also, decide for yourself the insanity of the F1 link restrictions that YT are mandated to....you can still watch this on YT.

Have a backup drive. This is where consoles suck a bit, however all your store purchases are linked to your account and should be redownloadable? -
[PS4] 1.22 NO VSC, NEITHER WARNING ON SCREEN
steviejay69 replied to ProDriver's topic in Technical Assistance
Yeah, but not like you did and the game awarded you the penalty without notifying. It's a game bug, I agree with you. -
I have a RX580 that works fine on 20.1.3 or 20.2.2* driver. Option drivers are effectively beta. Recommended are WHQL - currently 20.4.2 AFAIK. *There is a texture / lighting / reflections issue at Monaco (tunnel) on UL/L setting, but this has been replicated in 450.99 on Nvidia too so it's a game issue.

F1 2019 [PC][Crash] Game crashes in between races
steviejay69 replied to V7k3ng's topic in Technical Assistance
Computer subsystem performance is always useful. There is a world of difference between an old 5400rpm SATAII HDD with say 8MB of cache and a SATAIII SSD. SSHDs are better for reading (improve load times of frequently used files), so as a system disk (Windows) or as a game store will improve that. Using recording software, maybe not so much as that depends on write times and whilst they may be better than standard SATA drives (usually because of bigger caches, typically 64MB and up) the spindle speed may become a factor. Unfortunately many SSHDs go the green route of lower power consumption; lower spindle speed and rely on the SSD caching (up to 8GB) and the larger RAM cache (64GB and up) but the cache is often used for write buffering on the SSD and through-writes to the HDD. SATAIII has hit the limit with MLC and TLC SSD. The newer interface is M.2 to NVMe using PCI-E lanes at 3.0 and up. Be careful, as SATA drives can come in an M.2 package. -
DMZ is a bit like "you look a bit pasty, get some sunshine" "Look Ma, I visited the Sun! No sunscreen!" Port forwarding is preferable 🙂

[PS4] 1.22 NO VSC, NEITHER WARNING ON SCREEN
steviejay69 replied to ProDriver's topic in Technical Assistance
OK (and having used Leagues once or twice I now know that the keys are signifying people who own or administer the league). You still overtook under yellow flags though. -
OK, so we leave the firmware. (You can check it is updated by using HWiNFO) There is a WER about the XBox Gaming Overlay, can you try disabling it (Settings|Gaming|Game Bar) turn the slider to off. Also from the same menu, try turning off Game Mode (Settings|Gaming|Game Mode). Maybe DDU the driver as a last resort - this is a "Hail Mary" 🙂
